New User Help Needed Formatting External HD in MS-DOS for PC file migration

I have files on my PC and planned on putting them on a new external HD to transfer to the iMac.
I have a new MiniStack V3 external HD with USB and Firewire connections. It comes formatted for the Mac.
I want to format the HD on the iMac to MS-DOS so I can connect it to my PC; pull off my files; and reconnect to the Mac; pull over the files; and then reformat the external HD for the Mac.
Going into the disk utility I gathered the Erase tab is how you reformat. Only Mac OS choices are available for the format type. *How do you format the disc for Mac OS on the Mac???*

First, select the drive (not the named volume that will appear indented underneath), then switch to the Partition pane. Click the "Options..." button and choose the "GUID Partition Scheme," then partition the drive with a single partition.
Now you can select the named volume, switch to the "Erase" pane, and choose MS-DOS.
That said, you might want to consider using your PC to format the drive using the NTFS format. FAT-32 (the MS-DOS format) has a 4 GB file size limitation, and it is possible that some of the files you wish to transfer exceed this limit (I'm sure you would know better than we). Your iMac will have no trouble accessing the drive and NTFS format, but it will be as read-only. Since you will be formatting it again with the Mac, using HFS+ (Mac OS Extended), you won't need write access to the drive.

My friend doesn't belong to an engineering background and had not worked in a manufacturing environment.
He holds an MBA degree specialised in systems and has worked in software companies supporting software projects and the functions(like HR,Procurement in the same setup) as a software quality guy.
Moreover the modules mentioned by you requires engineering background with manufacturing exposure.
He had enquired for the course at siemens and they said that he may not be suitable for any of the modules offered by them as per the above reasons.They also mentioned that they have to check with SAP Labs for expert opinion.

I am a new user upgrading from using Premiere 6.5. I have had much success but there is one part that I can't figure out. I know on the 6.5 verison I would be able to right click my video, click on "Video" and then click on "motion" to adjust the size of the video as if I wanted to scroll text next to the video. I can't seem to figure that out in this new version. Help!

Left-click to Select the Clip. Look in the Effects Control Panel and you will see all of the Fixed Effects (Motion, Opacity, etc.) and any Effects that you have added. Their control (plus Keyframing) will be found there. By default, it is in the Pane with the Audio Mixer and the Source Monitor.

Can I transfer CC for Teams membership (Photoshop) to a new user on the same machine without uninstalling and reinstalling software? i.e. one user left new user started needing the same software.

We have Creative Cloud for Teams, most users using Photoshop. One user left the company and has been replaced by another user. I removed the first user's membership and assigend it to the new user. When she runs Photoshop, she gets a 00 Days left message. Photoshop still seems to be useable right now but I'm wondering if I need to uninstall Photoshop and re-install it using her credentials? Seems like a lto of unnecessary work to me.

There is no need for removal of the product . You can simply launch the product , click on Help>Sign out . Close the product and sign in with the new user's Adobe ID & Password. This should activate the product .

Syncing iPod to new user account-need advice

Hey All! I set up a new user account for my friend on my imac, so he will want to sync his iPod Touch to iTunes, iPhoto, iCal, etc. in his new user account. I know there are plenty of freeware and shareware apps to get his music from the iPod into iTunes, but need advice concerning everything else oh his iPod.
I know I'll first get that pop up window that says his iPod is synced to another computer, and that I use "cancel" rather than "sync and erase". After doing that, I guess I use one of the shareware apps to get the music transferred over.
Now, after that, if I do a regular sync, will iTunes transfer his apps that are on the iPod?
Do I need to open iPhoto and download the photos on his iPod into iPhotot before doing a sync?
What about text messages? Will they remain in tact?
I don't think he uses the calendar on his iPod so no worries there....
What about Playlists that he has on the iPod? Will just the music transfer with the shareware apps or playlists also?
Will Notes be saved?

Apps are tied to the ID I assume the new account is just on the iMac and not a new iTunes account?
Yes, you can import photos into iPhoto the same as you would off any camera.
You would need to transfer purchased content (like apps). You can't do that via sync as it's a new computer and all content will be erased as you are aware.

Lightroom catalog stops lightroom loading - new user help

Hi,
New user to lightroom 3 - created a few catalogs - closed the programme and now all i get is error messages and LR3 will not load. Tried repair - no difference. Tried uninstall and reinstall from cd 3.2 and same error message. Tried deleting all catelog folders and still no sucess - sigh.
Any help appreciated - erroe messages below:
Crashes with message - lightroom - opening catalog: PB285771.orf.lrcat and then the error message , sorry LR is expereincing probs and needs to close and provides the report function, which begins with:

If there was someway of forcing the app to load without trying to open the referenced catelopg above it might work, unless you experts know differently?? (hopefully)

Hi Alan,
I think you are mislead by the semantic of "catalog". Read "database" instead - Adobe marketing may have just voted for a non-tekkie name.... source of a lot of issues...
Large catalogs=databases create problems on old hardware of low specs. If you have a fairly contemporary hardware set-up with 2 GB of RAM I would definitely try with 1 catalog-database only, until you might really run into problems.
It is easy to split catalogs should the need arise, which I second Pete Marshall to doubt.
Whenever you want to see two images together, to compare them, to assign the same keyword to find them together again etc. they need to be in the same database.
Only if you should have worlds totally split apart you could consider multiple catalogs.
There are ways to get pieces across from one to the other(s), but that requires conscious acts best carefully planned.
Your initial post does not strike me as if that should suit your personality?

I am having trouble formatting doubles. Basically I recieve a double and an int that represents the number of decimal places.
From this I have to round the double. This is no problem, and is carried out as follows:

Assuming you are using Apple's Mail application, contacts are managed via the Contacts application, in your application folder. As for various addressing methods, including groups, maybe this:

Help needed to take control back from sqlplus for expired password

I am executing the following line for Oracle 11g in Windows from my application
sqlplus -L "aaaa"/"aaaa" @connectonly.sql >>"D:\tempDBlogs\connectonly.log"
connectonly.sql file contains the following code:
whenever sqlerror exit 1
whenever oserror exit 2
exit
This piece of code executes fine for both correct & incorrect userid & password and gives proper messages. Now the problem is when password of the user in DB gets expired. The controls waits for user input. But my problem is I am runinng this code from an application which waits for sqlplus.exe to end, as it can't proceed without validation. But sqlplus runs as background process and the command prompt never comes to user. Moreover I dont want to give the user the option to change DB password from my application front end.
So I need to find a way so that if password is expired sqlplus will return the control and will not wait for user input. Or atleast my application gets to know that the password is expired so that it can kill sqlplus process.
Can somebody help me in this.

interesting question. I tried something on unix and this seems to work. I simply piped a line through this which leads to an error with the expire-prompt and doesnt do any harm when there is no such prompt:

How to format external drive as MS-DOS (FAT)

How do I format the external drive as MS-DOS (FAT)?
I followed the instructions and have Disk Utility open for the external drive. Then > Erase > changed format from Mac OS to ExFAT and did the same with the RAID tab. But this does not change the Format from Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

OK, that does not suggest a disk format problem, but it does suggest that (as it says) you have the wrong Boot Camp version, or the wrong Windows version. ie, you have a 32bit version of Windows installed and you may have a 64bit version of Boot Camp on your Flashdrive.
I'll be back shortly, I'll get links for the various versions of Boot Camp, if there is no 32bit version for your Mac a reinstall of Windows is indicated, the 64bit version though.

I am successful in achieving pricing in VC the long way example: If Characteristic is Car_Color and values Blue, Red. I assign
$self.Z_CarPrice=u2019Redu2019 and it works. Z_CarPrice is basically the variant condition linkage with tables SDCOM and VKOND.
My question is how can I achieve the above by assigning it to the header so that it automatically enters the code $self into all values without me having to go into it 1 by 1 and assigning the codes? Or what is the best way in achieving the results?
If I have 3 characteristics ex: Car_Model, Car_Color, Car_Size? 100's of values?     4th characteristic is Z_CarPrice inside this I have entered all the Values from the 3 characteristics.

Create one variant table VT_BASE_PRICE with combinations of the char Z_COLOR,Z_MODEL and Z_SIZE as key fields

Z_Color          Z_Model                         Z_Size          Z_Car_Price
RED          Honda          Big          BP_RED_HONDA_BIG
RED          Honda          Small          BP_RED_HONDA_SML
Maintain the table values with all possible combinations and for each combination enter a unique key under Z_car_Price column. Remember the variant key length Max is 26 and you can use any unique value which should give a meaning by looking at
Once maintained the table write a dependency
Table VT_BASE_PRICE
(Z_COLOR = Z_COLOR,
Z_MODEL = Z_MODEL,
Z_SIZE = Z_SIZE,
Z_CAR_PRICE = $self.Z_CAR_PRICE)
Thus for each combination no need to write the code to infer the variant key. It will automatically choose from table as per configuration values entered.For each variant key you need to maintain price in condition records for condition type.
