New user is unable to open EMC on one server

HI all-
      I built a new user and gave them the recipient management role. I also made them an admin on one of the servers, but EMC will not open for them. This server is a dedicated VM for the help desk to build new mailboxes. I,
and other users, can open EMC and function normally on this server.
      When this user RDPs to one of the mailbox servers, he can open EMC with no problem.
      To summarize, this user can work on other servers - but other users can work on this server.
 Any thoughts on what I could check?

Thank you for your post.
If the user can open EMC on other server, it means the RBAC permission is fine.
If other user can work on this server, it means the server settings are fine.
What I can think of is to get the RBAC permission and AD permission of a problematic user and a good user have compared with them.
In addition, disabling UAC can also be a good try.

    I installed on my new Imac Bootcamp first, than VMware using the bootcamp partition under my admin account ( all working fine ).
    After a few days I opened a new standard user account for my wife.
    I hoped that VMware Fusion will work under these new user too. I opened the VMware and the bootcamp partition was displayed. I klicked the execute button for using these partition under VMware but the rotating sun icon rotated and rotated and rotated .... nearly 30 minutes later I stopped the VMware.
    When I try it now to open VMware a message is displayed - translated from German - or words to that effect :
    " Package "users/nameofwife/Library/ApplicationSupport/VMWareFusion/VirtualMachines/BootC amp/%2Fdev%2Fdisc0/BootCamp partition.vmwarevm" is corrupted and cann´t open "
    My question : Is it possible that my wife gets access to VMware too ?

    Okay solution found found a solution finally... i followed the steps outlined in this article: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4144252?start=0&tstart=0 . After i did this my windows bootcamp partition showed up again, but my osx and osx recovery disks became unbootable. Luckily I have an extra enternal harddrive with osx installed on, so ran disk utility and repaired the affected disk where osx had become unavailable. Then rebooted and all disks now shows up and work perfectly again.

    I'm running in an urgent problem, because binding to my OpenDirectory got lost. In the OD-section no server is listed any longer and all buttons are greyed. All network users for sure are not available, but all other services are up.     Since these logentries appeared, no network users and groups are available anymore. I'm running OS X ML 10.8.3 and DNS is fine.
    Are there any steps to perform to get LDAP working again? With all buttons in the server admin OD section greyed out I even can't setup a new directory.

    I was able to restore the existing server with the automatic OD backup that Server.app creates. When my OD fails to start after a crash and db_recover commands don't work, it's always worked for me to restore the odmaster from a backup using the command:
    sudo slapconfig -restoredb /private/var/backups/ServerBackup_OpenDirectoryMaster.sparseimage
    I'm careful to keep an independent OD backup with Carbon Copy Cloner and this preflight script.
    You can also grab an earlier version of the sparse image ServerBackup_OpenDirectoryMaster.sparseimage from a Time Machine backup. It's also possible to rsync the database files directory from a Time Machine backup.

    I have a C# project that runs an embedded web browser. When the project installer runs it will load java if it is not on the computer. Everything works fine for the admin user. When I switch to a new user and try to run the embedded web browser the applet just shows the red x in the top corner. Oddly enough, if you open IE and then try to run the applet again the applet will run properly. Has anyone run into this situation before?

    purchased a brand new MacBook a few hours ago. Added a new user as the laptop is intended for use by me as administrator, and my sister as the other account user. Only i have administrative priviledges. When logging in, she enters her password, and a new window opens with just the basic applications.
    our problem is this----the screen then freezes and she can't even access the basic folders for her.
    what have we missed when we set her up as an additional account user?

    I'd try deleting her account completely, then restart the computer with you as the administrator ...then configure another account in her name. When creating the new account, make sure to allow her access to all the applications. Maybe there was something you missed when you did it the first time.

    a little background: we had an issue with our domain controller and had to flash a backup image that we took 2 weeks prior. after we got everything setup correctly again and added users that were not there when we took the image backup. it all seemed
    fine, until we had to add some new hires. now when I add new users and configure them correctly with in OCS and active directory the user cannot sign in. from what I have read it could be a replication error, but when I try to force replication it fails. as

    Depending on how you rolled back Active Directory, you may have entered a situation called "USN Rollback" where your rolled back DC stops replicating with the rest of the DC's in the infrastructure.
    This will cause issues like what you are experiencing, and much worse in the long term, such as machines getting dropped from the domain, and user password becoming inconsistent, since you're essentially maintaining two copies of your domain that cannot
    talk to each other...

    I'd recommend resolving the underlying AD issue by removing the restored DC from the infrastructure (you may have to force demote and remove metadata). Once AD is 100% functional then you can start troubleshooting OCS sign in issues, but my guess is they
    will resolve themselves once the restored DC is removed.

    In general if a user can see a report and cannot open, this should be related with the application security that the reports' grid is connecting.
    If opening request from users are failing with an error, please paste the error here,
    Sometimes reports may be open with blank pages or no data, make sure users have necessary access to data...easy way to check this, connect to application and try to retrieve data from application, Lets say your report grid is connecting to Essbase, try if you can retrieve same grid from essbase excel add-in.

  • Since starting a new user account, unable to install software

    I had some problems with ColorSync not working correctly in my normal account, so I created a new admin account and started over from scratch in that one. I've had a whole lot of problems with permissions or privileges or something, and have been battling one demon after another. Right now I am unable to reinstall a simple pair of Canon applications from a very recent CD (DPP and EOS Utility). I get an "error = 6" message from the Canon installer.
    I've tried fixing permissions repeatedly from the Leopard start-up CD. It works, but it always seems to find the same list of files to repair, as if they didn't really get repaired. Repair Disk found no problems. I've dumped everything I can find regarding Canon, both in my applications folder and also in Preferences and Library/Application Support. But no matter what, I get that error 6, and the installer fails.
    I should note that I had both of these applications up and running just fine in the old account.
    Help!

    For starters, it seems like your problems are with third-party apps, and this is a forum for Apple and Apple software. Have you contacted the third-party developers or checked their websites for updates or information?

    Both my versions of keynote and my operating system are the most current and I am suddenly getting the following error when trying to open a recently created Keynote file:
    You need newer versions of OS X and Keynote to open this presentation.
    Install the latest version of OS X, then download the latest version of Keynote from the Mac App Store.
    This is in a modal overlay sitting OVER another error that reads:
    Sorry, iCloud Drive isn’t compatible with OS X Mavericks.
    with a message instructing me to keep iCloud current across all my devices and to get Yosemite, which is not out yet for public release. as a note, iPhone has been updated to iOS 8.

  • Cannot open EMC on exchange server

    I am having a strange problem. I have an exchange 2010 server on windows 2008 r2 that has been working perfectly for more than a year. Now suddenly I can't open the EMC or even the EMS.
    I get this error,
    "The attempt to connect to the server using kerberos failed..............connection to the specified remote host was refused. Verify that the WS-Management service is running on the remote host and configured to listen for requests on the correct
    port and HTTP URL"
    I have tried everything I can think of, winrm quickconfig and
    WinRM enumerate winrm/config/listener both seem to be normal.
    in IIS, the "MsexchangePowershellAppPool" application pool is running and under powershell Virtual directory both
    kerbauth and WS-Man are native and local.
    I don't know what else to do and how to get this EMC (and EMS) to work again.....

    Try following
    Method 1:
    Close all MMC/EMC instances before proceeding.
    Open Registry Editor (regedit) as the user you run the EMC under.
    Go to
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14\AdminTools
    Look for value NodeStructureSetting.
    If it is there, back it up and then remove it.
    Method 2:
    Close all MMC/EMC Instances before proceeding.
    Open Powershell or Powershell IDE as the user you run the EMC under and execute the following command:.
    Remove-ItemProperty -Path HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14\AdminTools\ -Name NodeStructureSettings
    Close Powershell
    After performing either of the methods above to remove the registry entry you should be able to open the Exchange Management Console and it will discover another Exchange server and connect.

    you didn't specify the version of HFM. I am assuming you are talking about a 9.3.x or 11.1.1.x release.
    In HFM 9.3.0 and 9.3.1 and above, there is no direct link to HFM web. You must login to the BI+ Workspace and use the "Navigate"->"Applications"-"Consolidation" menus to launch HFM.
    This is unlike Planning where there is still a direct link straight to planning.
