New User: Needs Help with getting started with the Z

Hi, my son got a creative Zen for xmas, only getting round to getting it together now, and having some problems with the manual. All this is new to us -technology etc. We have managed to rip a CD but cant get any further! Downloading from internet sounds like such a good idea, but 'know-how-to do' seems light years away in this house! Is there an easy start manual or step by step directions that I've missed out on somewhere? the quick start manual is fine for learning how to use the player but doesn't give any info on ripping CDs and whatever comes after. Can any of you 'experts' bring yourselves back to the begining and explain what to do in simple english?

I moved and edited your message as your are more likely to get help out here. As far as suggestions go for downloading from the internet goes, there is not a lot of difference between getting it from CDs. The main difference is the process of actually getting the music.
First off there are several music stores out there and some that are free. Here are a few suggestions (this is all personal knowledge, this is not an official endorsement of any of these):
Napster - Integrates into Windows Media Player if you desire and can transfer directly to most Zens. Also allows a user to subscribe to an account that allows for streaming and computer only downloads of music (must purchase song to transfer to the player...usually around .99 a song)
Buymusic.com - Website interface that sells individual tracks and albums.
Wallmart music store - Website interface that sells individual tracks and albums.
There are others but these three are the mains ones (outside of itunes, which is designed for the Ipod).
Basically once you download them, you go into MediaSource or Windows Media Player and add the files to the music library. Then you just transfer like you do with CDs.

Need help to get started with iMovie

I have used the iMac for sometime but never created a movie. With my new iMac, I want to start using the iMovie '09. The first basic problem is that it will not accept any of my videos.
I have videos made on a fairly new Cannon camera (*.movl), on a Flip recorder (*.avi). I thought the program would accept the *.mov but it will not. I have converted these videos to mpeg4, mp4, mov using ffmpegx, and mpeg streamclip, but they still will not be accepted by the iMovie program. I tried to drag and drop the videos without success, both with and without first creating a "New Project". What am I doing wrong?

This is a very complexed question (I think) and I can only suggest partial help if any.
I would from still photo Camera import to iPhoto. Mine does this and so the movie
sequences too.
Then after closing iPhoto and opening iMovie - I see in Browser/Events window high
at left hand - My Mac hard disk and under this iPhoto Library
And here I find my movie sequences from my Leica D-Lux and vife Nikon D300s

Help Needed with getting Started With Office 365 Development C# Rest API

We have a O365 Tenant Setup with a Federated Active Directory Setip we want to be able to right code that will connect to our tenant and perform basic CRUD operations against it (ex. Creating mail boxes)
The problem is we want this to be contained in a CLR trigger In SQL so say if a new user is added to our user table then we would create a new AD account for that user and also create a mailbox.
But I cannot find and example on how to connect to Office 365 using the REST API (Not the SDK because you can not add the connected service to a class library) and before the required actions that we need to do. All the example I have found are with the
SDK API and/or require window 8 and that is also not an option.
Please help I do not know where to start, and I would love to see some examples done in c# and not using the SDK.

Hi Guys, i am totally new to web design and DW, working
through the "Getting started with DW" under the “help”
banner seemed o.k at first until one leaves the comfort of table
design, once into the css and xml the environment the Getting
started tutorial is very shake and waiting for a reply from DW
would test even the patience of a Buddhist monks.

To be honest with you, the very best way to get started is to
start with
HTML and then CSS. A week or two spent learning the basics of
both of these
will make DW seem like a walk in the park afterwards.

Hi guys, this is my first post on this forum, so take it easy on me. LOL I just got a Sony Ericsson W810. I found out that I need to get iSync. Aparently iSync 2.2 is the program I need. iSync 1.5 is the version which shipped with and works with Mac OS X releases prior to 10.4 - iSync 2 and later packages are not compatible with Mac OS X 10.3.9 or any release of the OS. With Mac OS X 10.4 and iSync 2, came a completely new synchronization technology: the Sync Services framework.

New user needs help with syncing

I have a new Curve. I use Comcast mail (POP3). I have installed Desktop Manager on my PC. I am not using an Enterprise server, nor an Exchange server. I would like to be able to receive, read, and delete using either device and have any changes reflected in the other.
From what I've read, it appears that you can only do that if you're using an Enterprise server or if you have an Exchange server and you install Redirector. Is that true? Or can my set up work?

POP3 email does not require a BES connection.
However you do need to make sure you are paying the service fee to the carrier for a BIS data plan.

New user needs help with full windows reinstall/itunes

ok
my first time on here so be gentle,
ok heres my problem, be using itunes for a whilenow with my nano, never had any problems, always just got my mp3's, then just clcked "add folder" in itunes, and then pointed to the said album, and in it goes.
now my problem is, iam about to do a full reinstall of my win xp, however, 1. i have no idea how to back up my music with itunes., and 2., my actuall musc tracks are all over the hard drive.
so any help....
i will add here my idea as to how what think i must do......
...i was going to track down all my mp3's on my hard drive, (about 3 gigs worth), and then just copy them over to my .."my music.itunes", folder, and then when i have reinstalled my pc, just copy that back to the "my music" folder....will this work.
and if it does what will i have to make sure i do on the new install of my itunes, to get my playlists back as they are now....
i want to avoid thehorror stories i have read were after such reinstalls soon as there ipod plugged in again the blank new itunes updates ipod to blank....(how do i avoid this), and how do i get my new clean itunes to be like it was/is now....
lots of questons i know, but pretty desprate to get on with my reisntall...

We love seeing pro-active thinking here at the Discussions! You're off to a great start!
And you've pretty well got the right idea of what has to be done. A few points to make things go a bit smoother, though.

It probably would work but fortunately there's an easier method. Use the iTunes Advanced menu > Consolidate Library... command and iTunes will automatically find all the songs in your music library that are not currently in the iTunes Music folder, make copies of them and then put them into that folder (along with any songs that are already there).
With that out of the way, there are two main ways to make the back-up copies of your library. The one this article in the Apple Knowledge Base describes in detail is burning CD's/DVD's. That will take care of the music itself but if, as you say, you want to keep your playlists (and the information they depend on) intact, you will also have to make back-up copies of the iTunes Library files . That link tells you where to find them.
The other approach to creating your back-up is to use any spare hard drive you happen to have available and simply copy the iTunes folder (which happens to contain the iTunes Music folder and the iTunes Library files). Some of our Discussions regulars are quite fond of this method .
Once you've made your decision and successfully backed up your Library, restoring the music in iTunes onto your newly-formatted hard drive will be fairly straightforward but it will depend on which method you select. So post back and let us know how you're going to proceed as well as any other questions you may have.

New user - need help with PC Suite use

Hello. I have a new Nokia 6233, and have installed the current version of PC Suite (6.84.10.4), but can't figure out how to make certain things work that seem like they should. I'm using Windows XP with Service Pack2, and am connecting my phone with my PC via Bluetooth.
1) I have installed an application using the Install Applications component of PC Suite, and it now shows that the new app is on the phone -- but how do I actually get it from showing up in that category on PC suite to the actual phone?
2) I have hundreds of phone numbers that migrated over poorly from my old Sony Ericsson via SIM, and would like to edit them on the PC instead of on the phone. However, I see nothing under Contacts in PC Suite. How do I get the PC to recognise the contacts on the phone? If I enter new ones on the PC, how do I get them to the actual phone?

Hi,
1) Do you mean that you can not find installed application from phone (or what)?
2) Try to update Contacts folder -> open Nokia Phone Browser > "phone name" > Contacts > and press F5 button.
Contacts folder includes also button for create a new contact and when you click "Save", it saves that in phone.
BTW: if you contacts are in SIM card -> you have to copy those first in phone memory.

Please help me get started with Databases...

I've spent all day moving from one tutorial to the other trying to figure out how to use a Database with Java. I haven't found anything that explained things basic enough for me to understand, however, I did download and install MDAC 2.8 which was suggested in on one of the sites and I also have MS Access to work with for creating the database. Can somebody please explain what I need to do in order to access a database from my program in simple, easy to follow, steps?
Also I have a small question about .requestFocus();In my program I have a Radio button called Format1 and a text area called textArea. I set Format1 to be selected using the following code: Format1.setSelected(true); and I attempted to make the cursor start inside the text area with: textArea.requestFocus(); Currently, when I start the program, Format1 has the focus instead of textArea. How can I make the cursor start at the end of the text inside of textArea everytime I start my program?

Help in getting started with java 3d

Hi everyone,
I am very new to java3d and I started learning it from few books and online tutorial.
However, in my very first program that I trying to code, I get error when I try to import following:-

The compilation error that I am getting is that "com.sun.j3d cannot be resolved". I have already installed java 3d. I can see java3d package in the Program Files/java directory.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

On the instalation you have to use the default location, or the location where your SDK is installed.
Also, check if the CLASSPATH is defined correctly in your Environment Variables for JAVA_HOME and PATH.
You can also try to define the Java 3D jar files in you classpath before you try to run your file. Or can also try to use an IDE like NetBeans or Eclipse, it will help you a lot with your import declarations.

New and need help - drag and drop with dynamic text

So I'm doing this project and as an animator I'm not familiar with the whole action script side of flash
Okay so far I've managed to create the whole Drag and Drop feature and it works well, the thing is I want to make it so when you drag in object in the correct spot and new text appears, and I need like six different object with the dynamic text. but I have no idea how to integrated it in my code or where I should start!
So i based myself on some tutorial so theres some code in there that had dynamic text, but not exactly what i wanted

1) JSR 75 can provide access to the native address book. Additionally, some device manufacturers provide proprietary APIs that also allow access to the address book. For example, Motorola Iden devices and the v600 series both have phonebook access APIs. But JSR 75 is the standard.
Here is an example of listing the native address books and contacts for a device that supports JSR 75:

2) Sorry. Not all 2.0 devices support JSR 75 or phonebook access for that matter. Go to the developer site of the device manufacturer and read the device specifications. They will tell you which J2ME APIs are supported.
3) Yes. On some devices you can access all the address book information including contacts stored on the SIM card. You will need authorization or a signed midlet in most cases.

start.Following the tutorial online I don't know where I can put the "Hollow world" on.
I want to find a platform like VC so I can write the text, but how can I do with J2SE?

I'm new to java myself
When I started writing programs like HelloWorld.java I found it easiest to initially write them in a simple text editor such as Textpad and compile them in the dos-prompt.
To get the program to compile you have to do the following - write and save your code to the folder that contains your java development kit - something like jdk1.2.1.
Next go to the dosprompt - goto the jdk1.2.1 directory and compile your HelloWorld program by typing
javac HelloWorld.java
next run it by typing
java HelloWorld
Initially I had problems using Notepad because it was saving files with the suffixes .java.txt - these won't compile, should this occur do the following in the jdk1.2.1 directory at the dos-prompt
rename HelloWorld.java.txt HelloWorld.java
you may have to do this the first couple of times but the problem does seem to sort itself out over time

P.s. - it is also a lot easier if you can get hold of a development kit such as JBuilder - this makes it easier to compile your progs !!

Data base problem-new user need help

im new user and trying to insert data base to my page using
"asp.net c",i get connetction to my data base but when i try to
build a form ,and then preview him i get ,the following message
