New V Cast Media Manager SUCKS!

I was recently "forced" to update the older version of Media Manager to V1.1 build 11, which SUCKS!  I don't wnat nor need all the accessories like YouTube, Flicker or PhotoBucket!  I use to be able to just connect my phone to the USB cable and upload or sync pictures without going into Settings > Tools...  In fact, I use to be able to still use the LG Env3 phone while moving pictures around, I could text and even talk on the phone while connected via USB.
The new Media Manager makes you go into Settings > Tools in order to move pics from phone to PC or PC to phone.
I want my old version back!!!  Or at least can anyone suggest another application that I can use to just move images back & forth without loosing the use of my phone?

Personally, I wouldn't take the chance of pulling the card out and putting it back in without powering off the phone, granted it's solid state, but would you remove your hard-drive from your computer without shutting it off? It's not quite the same - you don't shut off the computer to read the card, so why would you shut off the phone to do the same?  It's not storing the OS or system files, only things I've specifically placed on the card, so it's more like hot swapping an external hard drive rather than the internal.  But that's just ME...     But that's just me.
I just want my old Media Manager back...  The new interface with all the web sites listed is junk.  And I don't have an answer for that one . . . sorry

  • V Cast Media Manager won't recognize the Fascinate/device driver not downloading(available)

I have installed V Cast media manager to my desktop system.  When I connect my Fascinate, the computer recognizes that "new hardware" is found, but can't locate the driver so it will connect with VCastMM.
Has anyone else experienced this yet?
Is there an easy fix to this?
I did set the USB to sync with media player and that still didn't work.

click on the usb icon on the top of the screen and it should allow you access your phone on ur computer! you dont actually need to use media manager. just open it up as if it were a flash drive.

  • Droid X Unrecognized by V Cast Media Manager

Hi, I got my Droid X 4 days ago, and decided today to put some of my music and videos on it so I downloaded V Cast Media Manager to my computer.  Unfortunately, although my computer and my phone acknowledge that there is a USB connection, V Cast does not pick up the device.  I checked the Help instructions for this situation and as far as I can tell I am doing everything recommended.
Does anyone know any quick tips to fix this or common problems that might cause it?
Conversely, does anyone know of any other programs I can use to get my music onto my phone for listening pleasure?
    Thanks!
    Ben

Just open your My Computer folder while the phone is plugged in via usb. Find the drive for your SD card and create a folder like Music, or Video. Copy, paste etc on to the card.
Unplug phone from pc, wait a few min. Start opening apps that work your media.

  • Disable V CAST Media Manager Web Pop Up?

    Hi,
Every time I connect my Droid Incredible to my pc, my PC's web browser launches the V CAST Media Manager download page (http://products.verizonwireless.com/index.aspx?id=fnd_mediamanager_video).
This is an big annoyance and I would really like to disable it.  Any idea on how to do this?
    Thanks,

THis worked for me, too, under Windows 7.  Windows 7 has a comparable mechanism called AutoPlay under the "Hardware and Sound" Control Panel -  but same idea.   I narrowed down the problem to the "Software and games" AutoPlay option - so setting that to "Take no action" turns off this Verizon nagware while retaining the other Autoplay options (if you want that).
Thanks for the pointer!  Verizon should have at least disabled the "pop up" after the first time it's shown - bad form, Verizon.

  • Does V CAST media manager cost anything to use?

I just downloaded V CAST media manager for my Samsung Reality phone. Will Verizon charge me for using it (connecting with USB cord) or is it free?

Just connecting the device to the computer using the USB cord would not be charged.
The application itself is free to use, but downloads and additional online storage would be subject to billing.
The V CAST Media Manager service is available from both the web and a mobile app.
    For the Mobile Application:
If you subscribe to an unlimited data feature, no additional charges are applicable when uploading or downloading a file between the V CAST Media Manager mobile application and online storage. If you do not subscribe to an unlimited data feature, data transport charges will apply in accordance with the terms of your subscription.  Downloads and online storage are still subject to billing.

  • V Cast Media Manager for Vista 64

I get the error message that at this point V Cast Media Manager only supports 32 OS... hence it aborts the installation.
Please advise what I have to use instead, how can I up or download pictures or other media to my droid 2.

The Motorola Droid 2 has several different options in sharing your files, pictures, videos, music, etc. I have listed a link below that will instruct you on the different methods you can use.

Below is one of the more user friendly ways of transferring media/files

***Please note this can also be done with pictures and videos. A SD card would be recommended if you don’t have one. If you do not have an SD card, you can purchase one from the link below, or most electronic stores.

  • V Cast Media Manager???

Do I have to have V Cast Media Manager feature on my wireless plan ($3/month) in order to be able to manage photos on my Incredible?  I do not store photos in the storage site, just copy them to my hard drive on my computer so as not to take up space on the SD card.

You do not. You can manually drag them back and forth from your computer to your device while using the usb cable. Here are the steps to do so below:
In your Droid box you will have a USB charger. Connect that to your USB port on computer and the other end to your Droid. (this is also a great way to charge your Droid battery)
    2
On your Droid screen, go to the "Notifications Bar" do this by touching the very top of screen (where you see Time and battery life)and lightly drag down. Now you will see "USB Connected"
    3
Go ahead and touch the "USB Connected" icon. Now a box will pop up and the options to "Mount or "Not Mount" will pop up . You want to touch "Mount" .At this point you will use your computer interface to move files between your device and your computer.
    4
When your are done transferring files go back to the "Notifications Bar" and lightly drag down again and then touch the "turn off USB storage"

  • V Cast Media Manager Costs ?

I tried to find an answer on the website but couldn't.
So - the subscription for the V Cast Media Manager is $2.99 a month for 25GB, but what I can't find out is ... does that cover all phones on our family plan?  OR, is that price per phone?
    Thanks for any help.

The $2.99 charge is per line and can not be share between line on the family share plan. Below I have provided additional information regarding the cost of VCast Media Manager.
    25GB for $2.99 a month
    75GB for $5.99 a month
    125GB for $9.99 a month.

  • Creating a new project with media manager

This one should be obvious but I can't quite figure it out: I used media manager to recompress my project into a smaller one. Media manager did a nice job with that and placed all the files into a new folder BUT - where is the actual project file?? If I use the actual fcp project file from the original- the settings are all different and it told me that some media files are missing or too short. Doesn't media manager create a new project file that works with the new recompressed files that it just created??

BUT - where is the actual project file??
When you have decided on the settings in Media Manager and then tell it to do the job, the first thing you see is a dialog asking where to save the project file. Use Spotlight to search for it.
If that doesn't turn anything up, start MM again, it might have remembered the last Save location.

  • Media Manager SUCKS! Help

Ok so i've had my 8300 Curve for sometime now. I have a Windows xp 2gig ram and a P3 processer. I have a really decent computer that does pretty much everything.
HOWEVER! When i load up my Desktop Manager and click on Media Manager.... Media Manager runs EXTREMELY SLOW often freezing and i have to pull up task manager to exit it. Sometimes i get lucky and i'm able to throw some music or pictures on my phone before it goes retarded. I new as soon as i bought the phone and installed the software and saw the name Roxio i was in for it. I hate Roxio everything.
Does anyone have any tips on improving performance with Media Manager?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

What version of the Desktop Manager are you using? If not using 4.6, uninstall of the version you have currently installed using this prodedure: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206. Afterwards download 4.6 from here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
There's two options to choose from, with or without Media Manager. If you choose to try media manager again you may run into the same problem (can do a search on the boards for media manager to find out more infomation about that if you choose)
Regardless of which version of the Desktop Manager you choose it's recommended to buy a microSD card to store your media files on, so you don't run out of memory on your device.
Depending on what OS your BlackBerry is tells you what size microSD card you can buy. You can check under Options | About (will be listed as v4.xx.xxx). Look at the chart at the following link to see what size you can obtain - http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB05461
On the BlackBerry go into Options | Media Card. Recommended media settings are as follows:
    Media Card support : ON
    Encryption Mode : NONE
    Mass Storage Support : ON
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected : YES
Mass Storage mode allows your BlackBerry to act as an extra drive when connected to your PC. So it will show up as an extra drive letter in Windows Explorer. So you don't need the Desktop Manager media manager version if you choose to go with this method because you can just drag/drop media files onto your media card
    Hope this helps

  • Video Black on V Cast Media Manager

When I synced my videos to vcast media manager, the thumbnails show up and the videos will play on my phone.  However, when I try to play them on my computer and when I burned them to a DVD, they show up black.  the audio plays fine, but no video.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

I posted this a while back and it should help...
Playing the Fascinate's videos on a PC:
DivX Plus Player  At first I couldn't get the Fascinate's mp4 video files to playback with any of the players on my PC including Verizon's VCast.  After rechecking the phone's video specs, I saw that it was DivX Certified, went to the DivX website, downloaded the free DivX Player Plus, and "bingo" my video files finally played - beautifully - and I didn't have to modify or convert anything.
Windows Media Player  I went to the Microsoft website and looked up Media Player and found out that it does not support mp4 format, however it did list the audio/video formats that it can play and one of those was WMV.  I then dragged one of my mp4 video files over to the desktop (created a short-cut) and RENAMED the file extension from .mp4 to .WMV, then double clicked on the new icon, and "voila" it PLAYED.  Now I didn't run this thing through any conversion software converting it to another format, I just changed the file extension and fooled Windows Media Player to play it, and it did.  I'll admit I got a warning message after renaming the file but I ignored it, and the file played just as nicely as it did in the DivX player.
QuickTime Player  This is Apple's player and anyone who has a Mac is using this player, however, you can also get a free PC version from them which I downloaded and to make a long story short, I renamed the file extension of my video to .MOV and guess what?  It played and just as well as it did on the other two players.

  • Problems with V Cast Media Manager on my phone

So it was working fine.  I transferred some pictures and music over to my phone and was listening to it/using it as ringtones. The a few things happened:
Some songs won't work as ringtones but I do not know why.
Somehow a few songs were transferred over to my phone but I do not know how to delete them. I can't under media manager or when I go to music. They won't play and are just called 'unknown' for each one. How do I remove them?
Then when I moved songs on my computer app into my HTC node, it says the songs transferred but they didn't.
Can anyone help with them? Especially the removing songs off my phone.

    Hello CT12874,
Vcast Media Manager is a great feature that I would like to help you experience!  I would like to suggest two things that may assist you.  Navigate to Settings>Applications>Development>Check USB debugging and power cycle your device.  When you power up and plug in your device at the very top you should be able to pull down the notification bar and I would like for you to choose USB mass storage and test Vcast Media Manager.  If you are successful great if your device is still not recognized please advise me so I may further assist.  Thank you.

  • V CAST Media Manager is the worst piece of crap software I've ever used...

I mean, who wrote this thing?  Sorting is f*d up, uploading files is a freaking nightmare, so much scrolling around because you current view is not cached when you click to a different area...
    This thing is total junk.
So I started using it yesterday.  Selected a bunch of albums that I wanted to upload to my online area.  Was logged in there and everything, so I think I'm cool.  Since there's no menu option to know for certain that I want to upload, I'm left to only the drag and drop option and hope that it is the correct action...
I say hope because nothing is instantaneous.  It sits there and spins, no obvious visual activity (i.e. a progress bar showing how much has been loaded, how many files are left to load, estimated time to completion, etc.).
Since I'm loading a bunch of albums, I figure it's going to take awhile and I just walk away from the computer.  This morning, though, most of my files are not there.  I find the transfer logs only to find the obvious messages of "Failed to load file xxx".  Yeah, that helps me diagnose whether it is my problem or verizon's problem...
So of the ones that loaded (like 9 songs out of 90), I see they're mostly from one album.  Well, now I have to pick the songs that didn't transfer in order to get them put up.  Album has a total of 12 songs...  So I can't remember the 9, so I start playing w/ the sorting in order to help me remember...  Well sort from the full music list is only ever on one column, and appears to randomize after that (i.e. I picked sort local media by album, but the songs are not ordered in any specific way after that); Tried clicking on song title, then album hoping that after the primary album sort the tracks would sort by title, but no...  Meanwhile I finally get to the point where I'm just looking at the album itself by folding down the list on the left.  What a mistake.  The list is of album names, of which I've got hundreds.  Now I'm scrolling down to find the online guy to click it to see what songs are there, then scrolling to find the album (which happens to be up near the top).  By the time I get there I'm so **bleep** off about the crappy interface that I'm back to scrolling again...
The only thing the application is: flashy.  Sure, there's lots of red black and white.  After that it's worthless...
I mean, what's wrong with the multiple document format?  One window for local, one window for online, etc.  I mean, that way I could compare/contrast the two...  Or even a side by side view w/ the arrow buttons in between so the transfer option is obvious.  And the sorting?  Surely the primary and secondary sorting identification is nothing new (in case you don't know it, when the user picks a new column to sort on, their current column and sorting direction become the secondary sort option).
Anyways, I think I'm going to have to dump the whole online option.  If this tool is the only thing I can use to sync music w/o plugging in, then I'll just plug in and use windows media player.  At least that tool works...

TOTAL AGREEMENT. Except calling this *** software "crap" is being far too polite. This is an HTC Incredible attempting to connect to WIndows 7 64-bit.
All I want to do is transfer audio files to my phone. I don't care about storing anything on line.
    1. Since the phone wouldn't simply mount in Windows Explorer the way my Droid does, I am forced to install software I do not want.
    2. After installing the Vcrap software, the phone mounts in Windows Explorer as CDROM J: which cannot be opened. When I launch Vcrap the phone appears within Vcrap as Phone K: and phone L:.
    3. When I attempt transferring files to phone K: (since there is no option to transfer the files to the drive letter J: that the phone is apparently using) the transfers fail.
    4. In an attempt to test the phone when I attempt transferring any media files from the phone, the transfers fail.
    5. When I navigate within the Vcrap application to "How to connect to your phone" a blank screen appears. So far, the blank screen is the most honest part of the Vcrap software. It really doesn't have a clue.
At this point I am faced with calling tech support, no doubt waiting on hold along with other poor suckers stuck with this issue and then being connected to someone in India who speaks poor english - yet another communication problem. Why is it that companies that present themselves as being communication specialists SEVERELY SUCK at communication?
Let's face it: Verizon feels that sticking you with an $80 a month bill isn't ripping you off enough. Now they want to get you to purchase media from them. I've already got 30 gigs of my favorite music on my hard drive that I'd like to listen to from my phone. I don't want to buy any new music. it's pretty much crap (just like this software) anyway.
The reason I did NOT want an iPhone is solely because of iTunes, another *** software application (although it works) that takes over your PC's media collection and forces you to do things you don't want to do.
The Motorola Driod I have works perfectly: it mounts when connected; I drag and drop my media files and the media player of my choice recognizes the files and plays them. Brilliant. Too bad Verizon's greed is keeping me from a smooth user experience such as that. This lousy experience will influence my future decisions in phone carriers and the type of phone I purchase. I cannot BELIEVE that this is what Google had in mind with they launched the Android OS for phones.

  • V Cast Media Manager is buggy

I don't know if it's the software or my Droid X, but I struggled forever to just get the pics/songs/docs ON the Droid (kept unmounting the sdcard, evidently). I reformatted it and got all the stuff back on it. Now I'm trying to upload to V Cast and most of the time about 5 things upload, then it says "failed." What is going on? Is there an easier way? And how do I "select all" on my pictures? I can't find one.
    Thanks much.
I'm an iPhone user, and I got this phone for my husband, but he's not tech savvy.

Agreed ... I have had horrible luck with both VCAST Media Mgr as well as Motorola Media Mgr. The only way I've been able to get them to work is to turn on the "USB Debug" setting.  But in reality, I know longer use either of them -- I just plug my phone in via the USB cable and manually drag & drop files into the various Media driectories on the phone. (I documented this issue in Verizon's main thread up above but Verizon (or Moto) has never addressed it.)
So try just directly plugging in the USB connection and from Connection (swipe down the upper task bar), select PC MODE and just manually copy your music/pics/etc.    You should have a directory called MEDIA. In that should be a sub folder called Music, Pictures, etc.  You MUST unplug your phone from the USB connection to actually see the files on your SD Card though because the Computer will UNMOUNT the SD Card while plugged into the PC.
    Good luck.

  • Cannot launch V cast Media Manager after install

    Windows XP, SP3
Just installed the program (and uninstalled, and reinstalled 3x's with and w/o security programs enabled). Upon the finish of the install is a "Launch" button. When clicked, the program launches, a tutorial screen pops up, and freezes every time. I've tried restarting the computer and then restarting the program with no success.
My husband has installed it successfully on our Mac OS 10.6.6 and Windows 7 systems.

Just joined up. Having the same problem. Was on the phone with 3 different Ver. techs for 4 hrs. before one asked me to check the FAQS, which states Verizon V-Cast is down. They didn't wven see it! Been over 12 hours and STILL DOESN"T WORK! I'm just trying to download pics from my old (broken lv11000 env-touch) to the warranty replacement without having to buy the $card. All the techs said I should be able to download without the crd if their system was up. Any suggestions or experience out there??
