New Verizon Email Surprise

When I went to the new Verizon Email page early today I noticed the new Verizon Email page had changed again. The inbox, Sent Box and other boxes on the page were now in a vertical column on the left side of the page instead of at the top of the page as they had been yesterday and for some time. I guess customers did not like the boxes at the top.. My biggest surprise was that I was now receiving emails with pictures in the body of the email instead of the attachments all being at the top of the page or viewing the pictures on the slideshow on the old version of Verizon email. Now I get the pictures right in the body of the email---no more empty boxes with red Xs at the top of the box. When my sister sends me an email from the new version of Verizon Email, I now get the pictures in the body of the email,  but if she sends them  by using the old version of Verizon email the pictures are missing in the body of the email. My sister never had that problem as she was using Windows XP . However, I am using Windows Vista. So I guess the problem with empty boxes in the body of the email was a Vista problem now fixed by the techs at Verizon. I had complained about the lack of pictures in the  body of the email as I had been a Comcast customer and did not have that problem--although Comcast had to fix their email page too as  they at one time had a problem with email pictures missing from the body of the email. It is so much nicer to get the pictures in the body of the email as it is hard to understand some emails when the pictures aren't  right near the words and all at the top or in a slideshow. Congratulations to the Verizon software techs who did this!!!!!
I hope others with the no pictures in the  body of the email will now know you  can see the pictures in the body of any email sent to you by someone using the new Verizon email version to send you emails with pictures. I sent some of the emails I got with pictures in the body of the email to my gmail account and now I am getting pictures in the body of the emails in my gmail account. Earlier those pictures were not in the body of the email either  but all were at the bottom of the email page
WHAT A WONDERFUL SURPRISE!!!!  Please don't change this feature.

  • New Verizon email settings and gmail

I am unclear if I need to change my gmail to use the new verizon settings for pop.verizon.com, port 995. I use gmail to get my Verizon email using POP3. When I enter the new information, I get the error message "Server denied POP3 for the given username and password." I did check the SSL box.
The username and password work if I use mail.verizon.net port 110.
    Thanks for any guidance.

  • How to automatically forward emails sent to my old Comcast to my new Verizon email?

This MUST be posted somewhere but for the life of me, I can't find it.  How do I have emails that are sent to my Comcast email automatically forward to my Verizon email?  Also I believe the sender would then be notified that the address has changed?...  Thanks:  Ed

I believe you can set this up through Trueswitch. Verizon has partnered with them to offer this service for free to their customers.
***Important Note: The forwarding will only work as long as your Comcast email address is still active. - Once Comcast closes your email account, Trueswitch can no longer forward the mail.

  • New Verizon Email Setting Changes with Outlook 2011 on Mac

Verizon has not provided instructions for how to complete the required email settings changes in Outlook 2011 on a Mac. Hence, I am stuck, and unable to send email.
These are the changes I have made (pictured).
I arrived at the first window by clicking Outlook >> Preferences >> Accounts.
I arrived at the sencond by clicking Outlook >> Preferences >> Accounts >> More Options
The resulting error message is below.

I FINALLY figured it out (only an hour and a half)!!!  I have Mac OS X 10.6.8
When you have your MAIL open, click on "MAIL" in the upper left corner of the Menu Bar.
    Click on "Preferences".
Click on "Accounts" tab across top of pop-up window.
Click on the Account that you want to update in the left column.
Make sure the sub-tab "Account Information" is highlighted (if not, click on it).
I don't know how to do a screen shot, but here's what I have...
                          Description: Moms email
                          Email Address:  [email protected]
                          Full Name:  My name
                          Incoming Mail Server: pop.verizon.net
User Name: accountname (what comes before your @verizon.net in your email address)
                          Password: (enter your password here)
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): Click on the entry in this box and select "Edit SMTP server list"
Click on the old server name and type in the new server name "smtp.verizon.net"
On the bottom half of that screen click on the "Advanced" tab.
Click on the "Use custom port" and enter 465
Click on the box "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
Authentication: Select "Password" from the drop down box
User Name: Enter your user name
                          Password: Enter your password
                          Now click "OK"
Check the box that says "Use only this server"
Now click on the "Advanced" tab on the same pop-up window (sub-tab).
On the bottom half of the page, enter this information:
Port: 995     Then check the box "Use SSL"
                           Authentication: Password
Now you can close the pop-up window.  It will ask you if you want to Save the changes, select "Save".
Don't know for sure if restarting your system is required, but it sure can't hurt.  This FINALLY worked for me.  Hope it works for you.

  • New Verizon email settings incompatible with MS Entourage

Apparently there is a problem with Verizon's new email setting and MS Entourage. After making the changes the following error message appears.
    "Error
Authentication failed because Entourage doesn't support any of the available authentication methods.
    Explanation
    Could not retrieve mail.
    Error -17897"

I had the same issue. I just fixed it myself accidently. I went into the email account setting, where we changed the ports etc. I clicked on the mail security tab at the top and under "encryption" I checked the box for "encrypt outgoing messages and attachements by default" and my entourage email finally worked.

  • New Verizon email pot settings

I received an email from Verizon telling me that I need to change my ports settings. Here is a sentence from that email.
"We are now taking the additional step of blocking outgoing e-mail messages from Port 25 to help ensure that our network is not used by spammers" and then it tells me to "Change the port number in the "Advanced" section of your email program from Port 25 to Port 587. Detailed instructions on how to change the port settings on your computer can be found at www.verizon.net/port25."
When I click on their link it does not give instruction for Mail app.
My current port settings are as follows: Use default ports (25, 465, 587) everything was working fine until this morning when I started getting bounce back from email I sent to people who have hotmail. I sent & replied a test to my Gmail addy and that worked fine.
Here is the error message I'm getting:
Your message cannot be delivered to the following recipients:
    Recipient address: [email protected]
Reason: Server rejected MAIL FROM address.
Diagnostic code: smtp;550 SC-004 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. A block has been placed against your IP address because we have received complaints concerning mail coming from that IP address. If you are not an email/network admin please contact
    Remote system: dns;mx4.hotmail.com (TCP|206.46.173.11|60471|65.55.92.184|25)
Do I need to change to 587 in the "use custom port" or might this be a hotmail issue?
    TIA,

Yes, I wouldn't expect just anyone to be familiar with a random modem -- but I do expect Verizon to be, since they supplied them.  One would think a standard feature of supporting the equipment you supply would be to post specific config info for firewall settings when the provider makes changes that require them.  Rather than saying something like "oh, just change your firewall protection settings to low!"

  • Unable to text in Verizon email my keyboard won't come up in their new setup

When I tap in the message area to email the keyboard will not pop up no matter what I do, all other transactions work. This only happens with the new Verizon email and the ipad2. I called Verizon and after 2 hours being transferred and testing everything they were not able to help, only to state it was a apple issue. I said no because it worked with the old verizon email, its a Verizon issue. But no help from them. Any suggestions?

They had me log into my desktop and message, which worked. All they could offer was to turn back to the old email which worked on the iPad. But now they don,t have the older set up now.   Please help.

  • My Apple ID  - I was originally using my comcast email address.  I want to change to change it to my verizon email.  Apple won't except my Verizon email because it is already in use which happens to be me.  What can I do?

I have an IMac and Ipad.  I was using my Comcast email as my Apple ID.  However I want to us my new Verizon email.  Apple can not verify because my Verizon email is already in use - By Me.  Please help.

    Yes you can.
If these devices are used by you, then no worries.
If they are used by others, I would recommend setting them up using their own AppleID.
    I'm confused.
You had an AppleID using your Comcast email.
Then you got a Verizon email and updated your old AppleID to us your new Verizon email address?
And now you want to add your updated Verizon AppleID to a new device?

  • Formatting Issues with IE8 and Verizon Email

I am using Internet Explorer 8/Windows7  to view and compose emails in the "new" Verizon Email interface and have become increasing frustrated with the way the <enter> key doesn't work the way its supposed to.  At the end of a sentence when I hit the enter key to start a new line it moves some or all of that line down the page, breaking it - and does not put my cursor at the beginning of the next line the way one would expect.  Very frustrating.  Had to switch to Mozilla Firefox where it appears to be OK.

I normally use Firefox and do not experience what you describe. But I just started IE8 and tried it there, also worked just fine, using the "new" webmail interface. Do you have any add-ons enabled in IE? If so, have you tried starting IE without any add-ons to see if that has any effect? I have seen some reports of add-ons causing problems with webmail.
It could also perhaps be caused by fixes applied to IE. Is your IE up to date? I updated mine yesterday with the latest Microsoft fixes so if yours is current that is probably not a possibility.
In my Windows 7 I have an entry in All Programs under Accessories ==> System Tools that will start IE without any add-ons.

  • Verizon email not accessible in France!

We are long-time loyal Verizon customers, landlines, mobile, and internet. We set up several new Verizon email accounts to use to manage our affairs in the USA and while traveling in France. However, now that we are in France, we discover that Verizon seems to be blocking access to email when the customer is in another country. This is a real problem and complication for us. Especially since Verizon does not inform it's customers or even admit that it is blocking email in this manner. Is this a permanent policy or any is there any chance that it will be resolved soon?

    Hi studio5dc,
Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • How do I forward email from my old isp (comcast) to verizon email

I just switched from Comcast to Verizon and need to get my email from my old comcast account.  The installer said to use TRUESWITCH.COM  but that site is no longer in service.  Thanks.

If you're trying to access old emails stored on Comcast's servers, you may be able to do that through their webmail service.  This will only work if your Comcast account is still active.  If you are able to get into your account, you can forward individual messages to your new Verizon email.
If you're trying to make sure any new email sent to your Comcast account is automatically forwarded to Verizon, again you'll need access to your Comcast account.
Bottom line, if you've cancelled your Comcast account you most likely have lost everything you had stored on their servers.  Your best bet is to contact Comcast to find out your options.
    Good Luck.

  • Why does my Verizon email address book use 'Nickname' as key sorting field ?

I'm a new Verizon email user and have just created my Verizon email address book from my Microsoft Office Outlook  (not Outlook Express) Contacts file, using the TrueAssistant application that Verizon provides for folks moving to Verizon from another email ISP. Earlier, a  Verizon Tech Support chat-line staffer assured me  it was NOT possible to move my email contacts from Office to the Verizon address book; I guess he wasn't familiar with TrueAssistant.   :-(
The conversion seemed to go over fine, but when I then looked at my newly-created Verizon address book,  in every case  the last name of each contact was stored in the 'Nickname' field , and the first name was completely missing.  When I manually replaced some of the first names in their proper fields and removed the nicknames, the application didn't know what to do with the contact.
Has anyone else had this problem in using TrueAssistant to move contacts from Outlook into Verzon's email address book?
Is it  even possible to see both the first and last names in the display of the Contacts file (or any sub-Group)? And if so, how do I do it? I don't see any way to specify how I want to display t address book entries. Would appreciate some help. Thanks and Happy New Year!

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I've never used the TrueSwitch software, but I've never had to. You can export your contacts from Outlook, Outlook Express, etc. into a .csv file and import them directly to your verizon.net account. If you log into your verizon.net account and go to your contacts list there's an Import Contacts button.
If you need any assistance with that process let me know, I can try to provide a step-by-step for your client.
As for sorting by name, this functionality does not appear to be available in the "Basic Interface" of Verizon's webmail. Switching to the "Rich Interface" causes the name to be displayed in a Last, First format and sorting by name is an option.
    Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for reaching out to us. I know there are to many passwords out there now days to keep track of them all. Are you looking to reset the Verizon.net e-mail address? If so, you would need to reach out to Verizon Communication by calling 800-837-4966. Please keep us posted.

  • Signing Into Verizon Email, News Entertainment Homepage

Why can't I use the sign in for the Verizon Email News Entertainment page any longer? The only way I can sign in now is to sign in using the Accounts sign in and put go to Verizon Email News Enertainment page. If I use the sign in on the enterainment page I get a Verizon page that says this page is no longer available and a click here for the home page which takes me to the Verizon Enterainment page and I am signed in. Why am I getting the extra Verizon page with not much on it which states the enertainment page is no longer available. Sometimes I get the page that says website cannot be displayed. I might note that when I get the page that says the verizon entertainment page is not avaiable--click here for the home page I see that the browser has changed to &=truerememberme after the verizon.com. Also I can get into the entertainment page if I get the page not available message if I click onto the HOME picture at the top of my computer. But why the Page Not Available message page?

    Hello,
Could you provide more detail to the issue you're having so we can see if we're experiencing the same problem on our end?
    1) What are the URLs you're using for:
the 'Verizon Email News Entertainment' page
    the 'Accounts' sign in page
    2) What browser(s) are you using?
    3) When did you notice this change and has it worked fine for you before?
