New verizon webmail has no new message "ding"

Just got switched to the new webmail for verizon. I miss the audible tone that would signal a new
email message. anyone figured out a fix?

I don't think there is one, at least I can't find it.

In Apple Mail, my new messages are coming in without the blue dot, as if the messages have already been read. Why? Has my computer been compromised?

I did not use my laptop all day. This evening, when I looked at my new e-mail from earlier today, only about 3 messages still had the blue dot, that shows on unread mail. I watched new messages come in. One new one came in with the blue (unread) dot, then maybe when the next new message came in, the blue dot disappeared from the first message, but appeared on the new message. The 2 subsequent e-mails came in without any blue dot. I had not highlighted or opened any of those 4 new e-mails, or any of the previously delivered e-mails from today. I cannot find anything in system preferences or in mail preferences that addresses this issue. Anyone know why this is happening? Has my computer been breached or hacked?

Ok, so even thought no one has answered, it appears that once I move mail to the "On My Mac" mailboxes, they no longer exist on the server (though they can be moved back there if desired). Which means that I'm fine if I migrate my hosting to a new server, and redownload them, because the mail in "On My Mac" will be untouched. The only thing I don't know about is the "Sent" mail, but I believe those also exist on the server, and therefore if I migrate them then the link relationships are maintained (no idea about the mail that is "On My Mac" that has links to "Sent" mail in the server, but I guess that isn't so important).
As for keeping a completely syncronizable Mail application - the only way it appears I'd be able to do that is to forgo "On My Mac" entirely, and keep *all* mail on the server. If I want to move mail into different folders, those folders would have to be Server folders created for that account, and hosted by that hosting company. This actually doesn't seem like such a bad move, especially as we get further and further away from having only one device that we use to process Mail.
Are there any disadvantages to *not* using the local "On My Mac" folders? Are there any major advantages to using them?

Updating your Mac's OS X version won't have affected how the Mail app (I assume that it's the Mail app that you are using, not Safari) shows on your iPad. If you don't have the menu bar showing in the Mail app then try closing the Mail app via the iPad's multitasking bar and see if it shows when you re-open it : iOS: Force an app to close
If that doesn't fix it then you could try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

Says thunderbird has timed out...won't import any new messages

Lord K. Thank you. Yes I am within the 90 time period, however I travel Intertionally and I can not receive not make a call to Apple. I was just at the Genius Bar in Chicago and they said, don't worry about it. It just floats out there, however, I can not recover my messages on a flash drive. I need to go back to my old computer which I don't have with me. My messages were in folders for a lawsuit. It is going to take an incredible amount of work for me to, you have no Idea. We are talking thousands of pages! I the defendent will have them during discovery so I am not so worried. However, I can not bring them to him on a Flashdrive when I meet with him without an extraordinary amount of presssure on my part. THis is not just some little email issue. I don't think I have ever seen that particular option in Thunderbird.
Are you using a non-English variant of Thunderbird? This might explain the difference in the wording used.

My podcast page in 'My library' does not show. I have "What's New" message but can't access/play podcasts from the page so unable to play on laptop.I still get automatic downloads of new podcasts and transfer to my ipod. When I compose a new message to someone else (who has an iPhone) it always sends the first message as a text instead of an iMessage. HELP!

When I go to compose a new iMessage to someone, it always shows up green and sends as a text message. Once they respond with an iMessage then my phone realizes to send iMessages instead of texts. Only does it when composing a new message. HELP!

Erase any conversation you have with this person in your Messages, then start a new one and see if it does same thing. If it still doesn't go through right away, it's a problem with your friend's iMessage setup, not yours.

I do not like the new message center layout. I do not need whatever features it has. Can I return to the "classic view?" It used to be an option, but I cannot find it.

Apart from getting a ridicvulous reply, let me steer you to another dicussion pertaining to your ...and potentially my particular problem. I say this only because that response you recieved is typical, and usually doesn't pertain to the problem at all. It's Verizon's way of answering without answering the particular problem. It's a numbers thing ie; queries/responses, so You might find that most responses recieved are not from knowledgable staff but from a triage group dedicated to stonewalling until the problem could be resolved. I can't tell you how I personally I'm disgusted with support tactics being used on cusumers today, its downright unfriendly. They are real strict about policies when getting their $$$ but they're really slow at provided said reasonable service or support request for said $$$.

Does this only occur with 10.6.8? I just gave this a try on my 10.8.3 system with AIR 3.6 but couldn't reproduce the crash on quit. However, I also was unable to log into the application due to lack of credentials. Could you please open a bug on this over at bugbase.adobe.com? If we need to log in to reproduce the bug, please send any test credentials to [email protected] Once the bug has been entered, please let me know the bug number so I can attach the symbolicated crash log to the bug report.
