New version of adobe reader, 11.0.10, produces errors when saving our pdf

Hi,
we notice that the pdf's we're generating in our system are encountering errors with the new adobe 11.0.10 and trying to save them. The system returns an Error 21. After research together with our manufacturer of our pdf-generator we've noticed the issue could be due to the way new Adobe Reader 11.0.10 is handling the encoded compressed format we're using (ASCII85). When we use binary format the error doesn't occur.
But since ASCII85 was working in earlier version, and we are a bit reluctant to do an upgrade of our systems we were wondering if Adobe may be aware of this problem, is working on this case and when a new version of the adobe reader will be released?
thanks for the information

Whatever page orientation was provided during the PDF creation process will be the page orientation in the PDF.
This is what is presented to a PDF "viewer" (such as Adobe Reader).
Adobe Reader (or any PDF "viewer") cannot permanently change page orientation.
Adobe Reader (& other applications) is separate from installed printer drivers so it is expected that the application isn't retaining what is configured in the printer drivers.
(A change to a local or network printer's printer driver configuration does not "touch" the PDF viewer's configuration. - Cinnamon added to the mug of mulled applejack does not change the wine in the adjacent wine glass.)
Adobe Reader defaults to whatever a given PDF page's page orientation happens to be.
Using Acrobat one can permanently change a PDF's page orientation.
Be well...

  • PDF Form Requires a newer version of Adobe Reader

New at this...Created my form in Live Cycle 8.0/Professional 8. Throughout company we are using Acrobat Reader 7.0 and are not at this time looking to upgrade. When our users open this form, get "This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader..." and prompts them to upgrade. Is there anyway I can get rid of this message...a way to make my form know that users will be opening in 7.0 and accept without error?
Also, I'm not able to get the Submit to Email button to work...getting "This operation is not permitted"...how can I fix?
Funny thing is I had been able to get the e-mail button to work at one time, but now, all of the sudden, it doesn't want to work...even on my machine which has Live Cycle/Professional 8 loaded?????
    Thanks!

    Geo,
Thanks for the quick response. Tried and received: "This PDF document contains an Adobe XML form. Such files cannot be optimized.
    Help...thanks again

  • I have a new version of adobe reader for android on my tablet now i cannot delete files

I have a new version of adobe reader for android on my tablet. Now there is no delete tab to get rid of old files

Sorry, I was asking about the version of your Android operating system.  But if your PDF documents are not stored on an SD card, it does not matter which Android version you have.
To permanently delete a PDF document from your Android device using Adobe Reader,
In the Reader home screen, tap Documents in the left pane.
Long press (press & hold) the PDF document that you want to delete.
Tap the trash can icon in the top toolbar.
Please note that there is no Undo for the Delete operation.
If you have many files that you want to delete, it would be easier to download and install a File Manager app and delete files at once.

  • This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe reader !?

    Hi there
I use LiveCycle 8 and I design forms for a target audience using Acrobat Reader 7..
My problem is whatever I put in a form, I get a really annoying message when opened in Acrobat reader 7
This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe reader, Without a newer version, the form may be displayed but not work properly etc....
This doesn't inspire confidence for the user.
I get this message even if I open a new form, add a single textfield and save as Acrobat 7 PDF form.
Is there a way around this ?
    Thanks
    Chris

I am not too sure, I thought that saving as Acrobat 7 pdf, would do that. Is that not the case ? Are you referring to something else ?
    Thanks
    Chris

  • Designer form prompts Reader X error:"This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader"

I have a PDF form that was created using LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2. PDF version 1.6, so it's good for Reader 7.x and above.
When someone using Adobe Reader X tries to open the form, they get this javascript error message:
"This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader. Without a newer version, the form may be displayed, but it might not work properly. Some form elements might not be visible at all. In an internet connection is available, clicking OK will download and install the latest version."
Is there anything I can do to the form that would make this error message go away? Is this a know issue with Adobe Reader X or Designer?

Is there any code running on the form?
Reader X has come out with additional security features that must be disabled to get any PDF form w/code to work.
Open Adobe Reader X --> click on Edit --> Preferences.  Under the General Category, uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at startup" (last checkbox in the dialog box).  Click OK and try to open your form.

Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there.

  • I can't download new version of adobe reader to my MacBook Pro.  Please help?

I can't download a newer version of adobe reader to my MacBook Pro.  What can I do?

No, sorry, that's not how forums work. We are just ordinary people, not employed by Adobe (and Adobe won't help, because it's free software).
Step 1. Try to get the file you want on screen. I expect you to see the message "If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document"
Step 2. Understand you are looking at a page of a file, even though it looks like an error message. It is in a window, right?
Step 3. Move your mouse towards the bottom of the window. Stop moving the mouse. A little bar should appear with four buttons.
Step 4. Click the fourth button.
    Step 5. Open FINDER.
Step 6. Open Downloads from your left bar.
Step 7. Find the file you just downloaded.
Step 8. Double click on that file to open it.
Please do not skip anything, just because you don't understand it. Instead, let us know.
If these instructions let you down, please let us know (a) on which step, and (b) what actually happens instead of what I said.

  • I was prompted to download the new version of Adobe Reader XI 10.0.03. I now cannot open it

I was prompted to download the new version of Adobe Reader XI 10.0.03. I now cannot open any document. I have never had trouble before. It gives me an error message: “Adobe Reader cannot open in protected mode due to an incompatability with your system configuration.  Would you like to open Adobe reader with protected mode disabled.” I tried a number of things including clicking on the first and last options the prompt gives.  Help!

    Three things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • How do I launch a new version of Adobe Reader?  lay-man's terms, please!

How do I launch a new version of Adobe Reader?  Where to I find it to do that?  Lay-man's terms please!

If you have the application then it is in your Applications folder. Locate it then double-click on the icon. It's that easy. If you need to download it, then go here: Adobe Reader 11.0.09. The download will be a disc image file - has an extension of ".dmg." Normally, the download is in your Downloads folder or on your Desktop. Locate the .dmg file and double-click on it to mount the image on your Desktop. There will be an installer inside the mounted disc image. Double-click on the installer and follow the directions to install it on your computer.

  • Do you need google chrome for new version of adobe reader

    Hi=
Sorry about the previous question. I went into on-line banking to pay bills, and was advised that I needed to download the
newest version of Adobe Reader, which I did. When I click on the payee I get a message saying to install the newest
version of Adobe Reader. I guess my question is do you need Google Chrome for this to take effect. It worked before
with just Google. Thanks to the answer from grafiti, guess I did not make my question clear.so here it is again
WILL THE NEW VERSION ONLY WORK WITH GOOGLE CHROME.

In contrary; Google Chrome uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin.

  • How do I change my security settings to allow pdf files to auto-open in new version of adobe reader?

I have just updated my Adobe Reader and now I can't download and open pdf files anymore.
I tried going through the preferences in Reader, but it says that the setting is tied in with 'security administration' settings on Mac OS X.
I have not actually changed anything in the settings so am assuming that this is something to do with the most recent update to either Adobe Reader or OS X security.
What can I do to fix this?

    Thank you for your help.
I also found that Mozilla Firefox seemed to be part of the problem.
Switched to google chrome and this seems to have made downloading pdf's possible again

    Can I reinstall adobe reader?
I get an error message when I need to use the reader I installed.

Yes, you can reinstall the Adobe Reader, my suggestion would be run the cleaner tool first3 http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
then download and install the latest Adobe Reader from this location# http://get.adobe.com/reader/

  • Problems opening some PDF's with new version of Adobe Reader X

Ever since the latest update for adobe reader has come out I have been unable to open some PDF's. This was never an issue with the older version. When I try to open certain PDF's the reader says "Not Responding" and nothing happens. This does not happen on all PDF's, just some.

Ditto on Darrenz16's problem.  New WIN7-64 Home Premiun system with Adobe Reader 10.1.2.  Reads several files, then starts locking up when I try opening new files.  Seems like Reader is failing to release some resource and eventually running out of whatever it is.  Rebooting seems to help temporarily.  Never had this problem on previous systems.  A set of good examples are the .pdf files at the bottom of this page:  http://www.hussman.net/weeklyMarketComment.html
I can open a few, but then Reader locks up trying to download the files.
