New version of CS3 or old version?

I need to order CS3 for Mac & see they say old version on Amazon. What is the new version? Is it out? Is it backwards compatible with the old CS3?
I don't want to order the new version and not have it work with my customer supplied files that I need to return to them.
I looked through the post's and could not find anything on this.
Thanks for any info on this

There is no "new version of CS3" unless you mean CS3.3 which is CS3 with Acrobat 9 Pro instead of Acrobat 8 Pro and with the addition of Fireworks in some configurations. CS3.3 was announced but is not shipping yet, but will very soon.

  • What do I do when I go to download the new version after deleting the old version and it keeps telling me to restart my computer but when I do it still won't install the new version?

My son installed a toolbar and I uninstalled it but it didn't disappear. A friend told me if I uninstall firefox and re install it, that the toolbar would be gone. I uninstalled firefox and went to reinstall it and it told me I had to restart to get rid of the old version completely, I restarted my computer and tried to install it again and it keeps coming up with the "you must restart your computer" thing. I have restarted my computer at least 20 times and it keeps happening and I cannot install firefox and its making me mad cause I hate using IE but if I can't figure it out I am going to be forced to use it instead of Firefox :(

If the toolbar installed something into the rest of the system, you will see an entry in the Control Panel in the software uninstall applet which should be removed. You might need to make a new profile if you cannot find an extension that has something to do with the toolbar.

  • Addons - new versions of addon with old versions of B1

    Hi guys,
Does anyone know if new versions of addons work with old versions of SAP B1?
I have a client who is asking for the latest Payment Engine (PL70) but they are on SAPB1 2005A SP01 PL12 which has the Payment Engine PL30.
My thinking is that you will need to upgrade the B1 app to PL34, if you want to use the latest addon?
or am i way out and infact the addons work independently of B1 and will therefore work on an old patch of B1?
    TIA,
    John Treweeks

    Hi John,
Patches are bug fixes and do not change functionality (unless the functionality was broken of course ). Addons communicate through the UI and DI APIs which are installed as part of the patch. Therefore, the theory should be that addons are pretty much patch independent.
But, as has been pointed out above, it's really difficult to predict exactly what results you'll get. I guess sometimes an addon patch could have been released in order to correct a problem that was both addon and DI API related. In that case, you'd need to install the addon patch and the SBO patch.
I never recommend you go to the latest patch until it has been around for a few weeks. However, going to a patch that is dated just prior to the addon patch release sounds like a sensible policy. In any case, testing is vital, prior to installation on a production site.
    Kind Regards,
    Owen

  • I am unable to install the new itunes due to the old version (which I uninstalled) still hanging around

My old version was corrupted and would not upgrade.  I have uninstalled according to Apple's direction however I cannot install the new version. I even tried a REVO uninstall of all apple products.  Each reinstall attempt fails due to the old version.  Help appreciated!!! Comments refering me to Apple's (useless) instructions or offering obvious assements are not needed.  Thanks!!!

"The older version of iTunes cannot be removed.  Contact your technical support group."
    That's perfect, thanks.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Performance of new version of Numbers versus Old version

I only use Numbers to keep track of some small sales figures and work out pricing for products I sell and stuff. Not much.
The old version of Numbers, the one before this new version for dummies, that launched on my Late 2012 iMac in one single second. For real, seriously, that fast.
This new version? I can load up Safari with a dozen YouTube videos in tabs and they ALL load before this new version has finished booting itself up. It's astonishingly slow to launch. How? Why?!

    Hi Csound1,
Document ("try Numbers '09") created and saved in Numbers '09
In Finder, right click (or control click) and Get Info
    Choose Open With Numbers 2.3
    Change All...
    Click on Continue
Now double click on that document in finder. It opens with Numbers 3.2

  • How can I fix this "Adobe two-version" problem, so only the latest version stays enabled, the old version stays DISABLED, and/or uninstall the old version?

I went to my add-ons tab, and I DO, in fact, have two versions of shockwave flash, an 11.9...version, and a 13.9..., which, if I'm not mistaken, is the latest version. There is a "ask to activate, always activate, never activate" button for EVERY add-on. I clicked never activate on the older version, and closed the tab. I then tried to play a video off of the Web. It would not play, I tried another site with the same result, so I went back to my add-on tab, and the button for the older version had changed back to "always activate" by itself. It continues to repeat this, and WILL NOT stay on "never activate". Every few times I return to the add-ons page, THE NEW VERSION IS DISABLED, AS WELL AS THE OLD ONE. I've tried to uninstall the old version, but when I go through control panel, and bring up the folder contents, the old version isn't even there! I've done start, find, and typed in "Adobe", and the old version is NOT FOUND! Both versions keep changing back and forth on the activate button, and they both will disable on their own, no matter how many times I fix it! smh!!

@jscher2000: Didn't mean to lose contact. I still don't have my playback problem solved, if you can believe that. I've downloaded the uninstaller / installer links with someones help that's on this forum, used them in the exact same order. It did nothing to help. However, I was in the process of attempting your solution. I made sure all browsers were closed; in fact, I went offline before this procedure. When I used find, and typed in Shockwave, it came back..."no search results". I recalled a path I had previously used, and had to use it instead of find, C:/ Acer/ Windows/SysWOW64/ Macromed/ and here there were files for Shockwave AND Flash. I opened Shockwave, says " this folder is empty". Flash Player and Flash Util plugin, Util32 Active X, NPSWF32_13_0_0_214.dll...all files appear correct, BUT why aren't there ANY files in the Shockwave folder? NONE of the buttons you describe in your steps to let Firefox "clean up" the pluginreg.dat file show in my window...if I am in the right window. My username is at the top, and it's drop-down is "3 button"+sign out. One says settings, but it doesn't take me to any "help", Trobleshooting info, "show folder", nor any way to exit Firefox or to start it back up. Settings goes to "edit settings", and has a list of checkboxes...all with something to do with threads in one aspect or another, and one concerning private messages. Sounds to me like I don't know what I'm doing, am on entirely the wrong Mozilla /Firefox page, and I'm NEVER, EVER going to get this damn video playback crap fixed once and for all. Some sites will let a video play, but they are rare. Vikings.com is the one that has me red-faced. NOTHING plays there. Except ads, of course. You can't get those to STOP.

  • Versioning - what folder keeps old versions of files?

    Hi!
Here's the thing - I have reinstalled the Mountain Lion and used Migration Assistant to restore my user profile from a clone of my previous installation. I got all my personal documents/photos/music/videos back, but lost all versioning info for each document.
I still have the clone of my previous installation on an external drive. I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is a manual way to restore old versions of files.
    Thanks!

Hi. Thanks for the answers. I now see why the versions didn't copy together with the user profile - they reside on the root of the drive. D'oh! Wish I knew that before. Maybe then I could have carried that folder over as soon as I was done with the installation. I now have way too many new .pages documents and there is indeed no way I could merge the two DocumentRevisions-V100 folders at this point. Hopefully Apple fixes this in the future so that the versioning folder is kept within the user folder so that it can get transfered over with a new installation/machine.
Thanks again for the help guys!

  • Updated Muse CC to 8.0 from a previous version.  It opens old version??

I just updated Muse CC to 8.0 from a previous version, now when i open Muse cc, it asks me if i would like to update to the new version.  Why will it ask me if i updated it already.
I looked in my Creative cloud Desktop control center and it shows two apps for muse.
    1. Muse CC
    2. Muse CC (2014)
All my updated apps have two versions like the above example..  Weird??
I restarted my computer hoping to get a refresh, but no luck.  Please help. Thank You!

I saw the same thing - I had Muse and Photoshop permanently in my task bar, and when I downloaded the 2014 update, the link remained with the old version. I just deleted that button and affixed the links to the new ones on the task bar. I'm not ready to uninstall the old CC versions yet, though, just in case.

  • Upgrade or re-install?  CE9 to BOE XI R2, new server has BOE XI old version

We have an old server that's running Crystal Enterprise Reports version 9 and it is the current production machine.
We also have another server that was purchased a couple years ago and BOE XI was loaded on it and the CE9 stuff was migrated to it.  But the migration was never completed and the person in charge of this left and the project has sat since then due to resource issues.
I am now tasked with creating a plan for getting BOE XI R2 loaded on the "new" server and migrating the information from the CE9 server.  There are 2 options that I can see.
    1) Upgrade the existing BOE XI in place to R2.  Would doing this preserve configuration that had already been done?  What problems will be presented by the fact that information was already migrated once from CE9 and everything will need to be re-migrated?
    2) Completely uninstall BOE XI and then reinstall BOE XI R2.  Start from scratch with configuration and migrating information from the CE9 server.
Also, I saw mention in another thread of obtaining the services of a consultant.  We typically do not do that unless it's absolutely necessary.  Would like your opinions on whether this is really complicated enough to warrant hiring outside help or if we should be able to learn what we need from documentation.  The person that did the original migration took training classes and we did not use a consultant.  Thanks for your help.

Well you said the XI environment is old, but if you wanted to an upgrade will keep what you have. We usually recomend migration vs upgrade if a production server is installed but in DEV if all goes wrong, your other option is to reinstall anyway, so might as well try it out.
What I think you will end up doing is migrating from CE9 to XIR2. It's a pretty tall task for anyone to assume they can guide you through a migration of 3 product versions in a simple forum post. This is why it's recomended to use a consultant, as they will get to know your existing environment and all the possible "gotcha's".
The import wizard is your tool for migrating reports, users, groups, folders, and even instances from CE9 to XIR2. You are welcome to perform this on your own and if you have a contract you can always open a message with support if you get stuck.
    Regards,
    Tim

  • Update new version of Firefox but old version of Mac OSx. Now all old bookmarks lost.

I made a mistake: I download the last version of Firefox but my laptop (an iBook with Mac OS 10.4.11) does not support this Firefox version. Now I lost all my bookmarks because the new Firefox version delate the old one.
Is it possible to recover the old bookmarks?

Your bookmarks probably aren't lost, you just can't access them. Try installing Firefox 3.6.21 and they should be there.

  • HELP!  New install of Premiere is OLD version!

I work in a university computer lab and we are transitioning over from personal licenses to device licenses for our 4 production machines.  I have uninstalled ALL previous versions of Adobe (including CS 6, CC and CC 2014) and reinstalled based on a Device License package containing only Photoshop with Premiere, After Effects and Media Encoder installed after the original package install through the Cloud.
NONE of my previous projects will open!  The error I get is:
BUT the Creative Cloud claims my software is up to date:
Looking at Premiere I see that it is really build 8.0 NOT 8.1:

OK. I'm assuming you're installing Premiere Pro CC 2014.0 (8.0).
    Allynn Wilkinson wrote:

Then likely, these newer projects were created in Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (8.1)

Exit Premiere Pro. Sign out of Creative Cloud, then sign back in. This document will take you through the steps: Sign out, Sign in | Creative Cloud Desktop app
Once the Creative Cloud for Desktop application has been signed back into, inspect the list of applications. Hopefully, it will no longer indicate Premiere Pro CC (2014) is up to date and needs to be updated.
    Allynn Wilkinson wrote:

Yes, this indicates that Premiere Pro CC 2014.0 (8.0) and that the Creative Cloud for Desktop application is out of sync with your installed version. Again, sign out of Creative Cloud for Desktop, then sign back in to remedy the issue.

Likely, that is a Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (8.1) project. Once Premiere Pro is updated, you will be able to open your projects once more.
    Hope that helps!

  • When I downloaded a new version of Firefox the old version was never deleted, and now I can't tell which is the new and how to delete the old.?

I have two Firefox versions on my laptop. One is 3.6.10 I believe and the other is some other version of 3.6. Why didn't it disappear when I downloaded one of your requests to update? Now I don't know how to delete the other one or even which one is the oldest?

If you mean that you see both version listed in Control Panel > Add and Remove Programs then you most likely only have the version with the highest number installed. You posted with a Firefox 3.6.6 user agent. It can happen that the updater didn't remove or updated the registry keys properly and left the old keys.

  • Downloading new verion - can't remove old version

I wanted to upgrade my Quicktime to the new version but it can't delete the older version. I tried add/delete programs, deleting QuickTime from the Program Files folder, etc... no dice. Any ideas? My son got his first ipod and can't get updated version of itunes to get any songs.

Could this be related to permissions? Are there multiple user accounts on the computer, where's Sandy?
I might try right clicking on QuickTime somewhere on the computer maybe Apple Software Update. Then go to Properties, click on the Security tab>Advanced>Owner. This would be the current owner of QT, or probably the one that installed it.
If you don't have a Security tab, open Folder Options control panel, click on View tab and uncheck-Use simple file sharing [Recommended].
Are you logged on as the same person that shows up as the current owner of QT? Is the account that you used to log on a administrator account, open the User Accounts control panel.
You must be a administrator account with full administrator credentials to install programs. This may or may not be your problem, but permissions can certainly be the cause.
