New version of iPhone

Plugged my iPhone in this morning to do a software update, and then phone completely died again. I had to do a complete restore on the phone. This is the fourth time I have had to do this in the four months of owning the thing. Why would a software update give me the Yellow ! in a triangle with "You need to connect to itunes" and when I do, i have to restore my phone to factory settings. What a pain!

Sounds like a problem that you need to discuss with AppleCare.

Toggle Airplane mode On and Off.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
Check for a carrier settings update. Tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, a prompt will appear.
Remove the SIM Card and verify that it is a valid, carrier-manufactured SIM. Also verify that it is not damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
Restore the iPhone.

Turn it on.
If it will not power on, try a reset by pressing and holding the home and power buttons until the white Apple logo appears.

If the developer of the app has updated it so that it requires a later version of iOS, there is nothing to be done. Review the requirements for the app in the App Store.
Helpful hint: Title case (capitalizing every word in a sentence) is harder to read than standard capitalization (just the first word of a properly punctuated sentence). Some people won't read posts at all if there doesn't seem to be at least an attempt at standard grammar, spelling, punctuation and usage.

Problems after installing new version o iphone 3gs

I installed this evening the new version of my iphone 3gs and since then I cannot use my iphone nor reinitialise it beause it asks me to connect to itunes.When i connect it to the computer it say there is no pilot and doesnt manage to install a new pilot I telecharged the last version of itunes and reinstallated it, try again to reinstall the pilot but impossible to connect and I can't use my iphone

Very likely, I would expect all Laptop HDs 4 or more years old to be failing by now.
i just read somewhere that whenever we do the updates we're supposed to do the permissions and i never knew to do that -- so i haven't ever done it. could that be the problem.
That and Verifying or Repairing the HD are sort of like looking both ways before you cross the street, neither may be necessary to cross the street, but it certainly can prevent problems during the crossing!
should i do a clean install of the system software and start from scratch.
I really think the Internal HD is on it's way out, but if you have a good/complete backup, actually a bootable clone on an external Firewire Drive is preferable... Best way to get an exact bootable copy of your old drive to the new one is with Carbon Copy Cloner...

I was in an Apple store today just looking around...so i was playing around the iPads and the iPhone 4...i noticed that a few of them dont have thr pin hole for the micro sim cards...but they do have phone numbers...hmm...

No it is NOT possible as APPLE has not made one yet. As already explained, it's inconceivable that there would be a "store demo" of one without an announcement from Apple and one of the CDMA carriers. Also a combo GSM/CDMA model would still need to provide for a SIM card.
It's more likely that the store demo is neither - just a dumb demo unit without any cell network capability.

Cant get new version on iphone

i have been trying to get my iphone to update for weeks now, i still have version 1.1.4. it will start the download then about a half hour later it says it cannot update. what should i do?

Does your computer have USB 2.0? If you're using a USB 1.1 port, the download can time out.

Does any one knows when a new version for iPhone 4 will come on?

Iphone wont work at all since upgrading to new version of itunes (10.2.1)

Ever since upgrading to the new version of itunes 10.2.1 my iphone will not work at all, it will not switch off and will not restore which itunes tells me is needed, cannot use phone at all, need help please.

I only have songs no other media. The specs for my Ipod say it should hold 7500 songs. This problem only started after upgrading to the newest version of iTunes 10.2.1.1

What version of iOS is on your iPhone now? You cannot downgrade to an earlier version, so you need to restore using the most current version. iOS 4.2.1 is the latest and probably last version that will work on the iPhone 3G. This can also happen with a jailbroken iPhone; was your iPhone indeed jailbroken?
