New version of iTunes believes my iPod may be corrupt
When I installed iTunes on my new Lenovo laptop (XP), I attach my iPod and a message pops up that it may not be configured for Windows.
I've used this iPod for years with my home computer Dell/XP and it still works fine.
Are you running Snow Leopard or later?
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
Snow Leopard General Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
2. 1GB of memory
3. 5GB of available disk space
4. DVD drive for installation
5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
fees may apply.
6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
terms apply.

I just downloaded the new version of iTunes and my iPod won't sync?
I just downloaded the new version of iTunes and my iPod won't sync?
Installing iTunes does not cause content to magically appear on the computer.
Your media is only where you put it.
iOS devices are not backup devices.
Copy the media from the old computer to the new computer. -

Hi beejuice,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPod nano, this article may help:
iPod not recognized in My Computer and in iTunes for Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1369
This article applies to iPads:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
If issues persist, a thorough removal and reinstall of iTunes would be the next thing to try:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

So ever since I downloaded the new version of iTunes, I have no idea how to add music to my iPod. On the last version, their was a box next to the iTunes Store box that said "_______'s iPod". Because I just used to drag my music to the box and add it through there, I have no idea where I would "drag" my music file now to add it. Simply, I just need to know how to add music to my iPod again in the most recent version of iTunes on my computer (11.1.5).
Cntrl + S will enable the side bar.
Then you can manually manage media on your iDevice as you always have.
Alternatively, control the content on the device by syncing the playlists and other media that you desire to the device. -
Having issues with new version of iTunes and my iPod...
I recently upgraded to the newest version of iTunes, and now I can't view my iPod's songs or add songs to my iPod through iTunes. Whenever I click on my iPod, iTunes freezes up and I have to close it. In fact, sometimes iTunes freezes up as I'm playing songs.
Any help with this?
Windows XPdownload, install, and run the latest iPod updater. Even if it does not contain new versions for your model, it will re-install a fresh copy of the software and might shake loose anything that has become stuck.
If you have all your music on the computer (and you should for occasions just like this), use the "restore" option, it will wipe the hard drive of the iPod, but helps out the most. -

Unable to Install New version of iTunes due to Bonjour.
Okay, I was trying to install the new version of iTunes for my ipod nano w/camera i just bought. While i was downloading, i had to download a newer version of Bonjour. When i tried to it said " Older version of Bonjour cannot be removed." I have heard that some people have had the same problem. How do i fix this?
P.S. I tried the Windows Installer thing, and it said something like 'Access denied' and i was unable to download it.By the way, i know someone already started a thread on something like this. But it has not worked for me.

Using a Mac desktop OS X 10.6. I've made repeated attempts to update software. The download process for Firefox quits and a dialogue box pops up -- saying the new version did not download. File may be corrupt or unable to be decoded??. Process started by clicking on the New Firefox version is available for Free download on Mozilla home page.
More information - the popup box says:
Adobe Reader could not open 'Firefox 8.0-8.dmg' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
The file was downloaded into my "download" folder? Is that related to the problem? -
I had my itunes account on my laptop which has since crashed. I had to buy a new computer and iinstall the new version of itunes. It did not pull up any of my information with music library, etc. Does anyone know how to transfer existing music from my itunes account for my ipod to my iphone?
thanksSome of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

I need to authorize my computer for my daughter's new iPod Touch but in the new version of itunes that just upgraded to day there is no "store" menu or "advanced" menu that I can see and I can't see a way to do it. So anything she buys with her i.d. won't transfer. Help!
Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us. -
