New version of Logic constantly asks for serial on startup

Does anyone have a solution for this?
Thanks

Ah, that's your problem. The FINAL CUT STUDIO SYSTEM ID file stores your serial so if the file isn't there, it's going to keep prompting you for it.
This is most likely a permissions problem. Try going to /Applications/Utilities, open Disk Utility, select your system drive in the list and click Repair Permissions.

  • Logic keeps asking for serial number after upgrade to 9.1.3

I know this has been asked before, but I'm wondering if there is a solution other than erasing my hard drive etc. I had to do a re-install of my system 10.5.8 and I upgraded to 9.1.3 and now Logic keeps asking for serial number after every shut down (not if I only quit). any ideas?
    Thanks!

Thanks for your response. I had already re-installed my OS because computer wouldn't boot up. I had downloaded Onyx and run it which I think was the start of my problems including the missing serial number - so it was looking for serial number even before my upgrade to 9.1.3. I could not find anything called a reg keyfile in either my user or startup disk /Library/Preferences/. When I put in my serial number, I can boot and quit as many times as I want until I shut down.
Here are the 3 console messages that appear when I try to boot up and they are the same that come up after shutting down or on a launch which does NOT ask for serial number:

  • Aperture version 3.3.2 ask for Serial Number

After using an new MacBook Pro with Mac OSX 10.7.4, Aperture asking for licensing, I entered this ultra-long Numbers from Version 3 and 2, but i am not registered, after Quit Aperture I have to do the same procedere again, when I start Aperture. Anything is missing here?

How are you entering the serial number? Aperture is installed for all users on your mac, so the serial number is written to the system library, not the user library, and this requires read/write access for administrators. Do you enter your serial number using an administrator account?
Also, you may have a corrupted "ProAppSystemID" file or Aperture cannot write to the System Library.
To stop Aperture asking for the serial number, first check, if you still have an old file "ProAppSystemID" in your System Library.
    Quit Aperture.
Go to your MacintoshHD and open the folder "Library", then "Application Support", then "ProApps".
Remove the File "ProAppsSystemID" to the Desktop, if it exist and restart Aperture.
Reenter your serial number, hopefully for the last time.
Sometimes Aperture writes this file to a temporary directory, when it cannot write to the Library. If the above does not work, look at the temporary directory /tmp
    Use the Finder's "Go" menu
Go > Got to folder    and  enter /tmp into the textfield. If you see the file there, move it to its proper location.
In this case you may want to repair the permissions on your system drive; you can do this using the "First Aid" tools in "Disk Utility" (located in Applications > Utilities)

  • Acrobat X Pro asks for serial number @ startup.

Since joining Creatve Cloud, every day when I open Acrobat X Pro, it asks for the CS6 serial number. Does anyone know how to stop it? It was never a problem before CC.

    Just FYI - It's a known issue.

  • Logic keeps asking for serial no

Sometime back I had a lot of trouble using Soundtrack Pro where it was crashing too often! So I moved my session to Logic. Since about then Logic asks me for my serial number every few times on program startup. (This was happening with Soundtrack as well.)
Everything else seems to be running normal. But this is a little strange now.
    Anyone with the same problem?
    Thanks.

    Try this:
Drag the file "Logic Studio System ID" from HD/Library/Application Support/ProApps/ to your desktop or trash it altogether and then go through the authorizing routine once more.
    This should solve the problem.

  • Aperture constantly asking for serial number

I just bought a new Macbook Pro and after transferring everything from my old one using firewire Aperture would not launch -- it had only my upgrade serial number and not the original one, which I can no longer locate. In disgust I went back to the Apple store and bought a new copy of Aperture just to get a new serial number. I keyed that in and all is well except now it asks me to key in the serial number every time I launch the program!!!! It's driving me insane!!
And help would be much appreciated!

Thanks Allen -- I did call Apple this morning using last night's case number and we managed to solve the problem by removing some arcane ID file. Whew!
One thing the Apple rep said is that Pro apps should not be transferred using Migration Assistant and should instead be completely installed from scratch. Who knew?
BTW the new Macbook Pro has the most gorgeous screen ever --photos look astounding on it. And of course, that's the problem -- they look TOO astounding! But hey, my heavy lifting is on my desktop system so I guess I can live with the pretty pictures! The system positively SCREAMS by comparison to my two year old MacBook Pro.

  • Studio 2 Constantly Asking for Serial

I installed Studio 2 academic on my Intel Mac Pro, and it everytime I open ANY studio 2 app, it asks me again for my serial. Anybody else have this problem? Please don't tell me this is what I get for purchasing the Academic Verion?
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I agree: trashing/replacing the System ID file should do the trick. I had the same problem on my system, for multiple users.
Look in /Library/Application Support/ProApps (note this is the library on the hard drive level, not your User-level library)
trash the file: Final Cut Studio System ID
I had to restart before the change would take effect and allow me to enter the serial number again.
    Good luck!

  • I am unable to update ios new version as it is asking for passcode. I am trying to submit the password, it is not accepting on my iphone5S

    Currently using iOS 7.1.1
For longtime trying to update to 7.1.2
I am unable to install it, as it is asking me for Passcode.
Is passcode different from my Apple ID Password?
I tried to put the pass word, it gives me failure notification
Because of this also changed Apple ID Pass word recently

The Passcode is NOT the password for your Apple ID, the Passcode is the four digit number you enter to unlock your phone after it has auto locked.

If you still have the old computer and it is a MAC, the Lightroom 5 serial numbers are in a text file.

I'm just saying that there is/was another copy of Logic on that computer at one time, the app store version does not require a serial however... if a previous version was on the machine I think even the app store version will ask for a serial... is that what's happening?

    Hi Rosera,
This is bad and I am sorry to hear that you are running into these issues.
Let me connect with you, so right now, the current state is that you have installed copy of PSE 8 in trial on your windows 7 machine, and when you are trying to enter the serial number from your PSE 8 Box, it is saying the serial number to be invalid?
It might sound pretty obvious, but please make sure that you are entering the serial number correctly and of PSE 8(in case you bought a PEPE box)?
Have you tried the steps mentioned below by Barbara?
If possible, you can send me the serial number through PRIVATE MESSAGE and I can check it on my end that whether the serial number is indeed invalid or that the issue is with your machine?

  • Trial version is asking for serial number ... helpp

I selected "try" from the adobe CS5 page and when I am in the install window it asks for serial number.
    Why ???
Now there is option to "try as a trial version" however it will not allow me to progress and select this option.
    Very Frustrating...

Did you run any other trials already? in any case, try the suggestions listed in the respective section regarding licensing here and also have a look at the specific CS5 stuff.
