Adobe Flash 10 - new version released today

Adobe today released a new version of Flash 10 - v 10.032.18. Download is available here. This update is particularly useful for Safari 3 and Safari 4. Anyone using Safari 1.3.2 via OS X Panther is advised to remain with Flash version 9. The Flash plugin is installed in HD>Library>Internet Plug-ins folder.
Because Adobe does not set the correct permissions for its Flash files (don't know why), it's important to "repair permissions" via Disk Utility in your Applications>Utilities folder after installing the plugin. Otherwise oddities such as Safari crash, freezes, or stuttering of Flash content are possible.
For anyone not familiar with permissions repair, have a look at this related Apple document.
When complete, restart Safari.

This was driving me nuts on 10.6.2 on Safari and the Developer Chrome build - I keep FireFox on the system - IT also had the same issues.
The only way I got the problem to go away on 10.6.2 (MacBook Unibody) was to:
1. Uninstall Adobe Flash with the Uninstaller here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
2. Once uninstaller downloads shutdown all browsers and run the Adobe Flash Uninstaller
3. Power off the system when the uninstaller is done. Be ready on Power on to clear the PRAM: Be ready to press Command + Option + P + R immediately on power on. System will go to black screen after screen powers on the first time if this is done right - then on restart you will get the Apple logo and system /Apple sound. NOTE: I didn't do this the first time and hangs still occurred!
4. On bootup reinstall Flash Player 10 or Flash Player 10.1 beta (e.g. I'm using the beta 10.1 with NO issues on any sites now: Got it from here: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html
No issues in ANY browser or any sites now.....

So I was waiting 4 months for a patch, what doesn't work correctly for me. I have Quadro 6000, and GTX580. (2 cards because of another application - I don't want to promote it here).
If I play the timeline with 7.2.1 with both cards enabled, I have no realtime. If I disable GTX580 in my control panel and run the same project also with 7.2.1, it plays realtime.
So what exactly did you patched? The startup error screen only? Who are your beta testers and what they actually do? I liked Speedgrade by IRIDAS very much but since you bought it it is unusable for me. I have never seen so many bugs in one application - just compare this discussion forum with other forums.

Why can't you keep addons compatible with your very frequent new version releases?

While I understand that you don't write the addons, it is very frustrating to me, that you keep releasing major version releases every few months, and the result is large numbers of incompatabilities. Why can't you make your builds more forgiving for addons? For instance I cannot use Norton Internet Security's toolbar right now - that's a pretty major addon, and I think it's on Mozilla to ensure some form of compatibility, or at the very least, have common REQUIREMENTS published, so vendors aren't left guessing every time.

Given The New Macbook Release Today...

I had posted a question a few days ago on the Macbook Pro forum, explaining that I do a great amount of video editing on my Macbook (2ghz, 2gb RAM, now running Leopard), and was questioning whether, for video editing, I should move on to the entry-level Macbook Pro. Given the release of the new Macbooks today, what does everyone think? It almost seems as if the new Macbooks (specifically the top-of-the-line black Macbook) are comparable, if not better, than the entry-level Macbook Pro? Opinions? I plan to max the laptop out at 4gb RAM, which apparently both laptops can now handle. My only concern is the graphics card, and I'm very torn/confused on which laptop now offers the better graphic abilities, specifically in regards to video editing. Thanks so much for your help, very anxious!

Apple has not updated the system requirements for Final Cut Studio. They specifically state:
• An AGP or PCI Express Quartz Extreme graphics card (Final Cut Studio is not compatible with integrated Intel graphics processors)
Since the new card is still an "integrated Intel graphics processor", the MacBooks are probably still excluded.

New version of iBooks not compatible with iOs 4.2.1

I wanted to install iBooks on my iPhone 3. The new version, released sep 19th 2012 requires iOs 4.3 which is not compatible with the iPhone 3g. Have I any solution to install a previous version of iBooks?

Added new removeUnbalancedRows constructor option to control whether or
not rows that have fewer/more columns defined than column names
specified. Default is false. If false, the data set will normalize all
rows so that they have the same number of columns. Any missing values
will be set to an empty string.
Modified the column naming algorithm so that when
firstRowAsHeaders:true and not enough column names exist, that we
fallback to the "columnN" naming convention for the missing column
names.
Fixed bug that prevented HTMLDataSets, that initially load data from
the page, from loading remote content. Converted the internal member
usesExternalFile to a function that dynamically returns a bool based on
the value of the url property. This was initially only getting set
during construction time, but now it gets done on the fly.
Fixed normalizeColumnName() so that it strips leading/trailing spaces
*after* tags have been stripped. We were doing it in the reverse order
and stripping tags re-introduced leading/trailing spaces in some cases
leading to unexpected column names with leading/trailing underscores.

Docs say they need a 'newer version' even though I have the latest Pages 5 release?

I have several documents that I created in the latest version of Pages 5 (version 5.0 (1465)). Last week, they were all working fine in Pages 5 and were saved to that format. Now, when I go to open any of the documents, I get an alert message that the document can't be opened because I need a "newer version" of Pages to access them. I have gone to the App Store to check for updates; I'm at the latest release.
Just for fun, I tried opening in iOS versions (no success) and even opening in copies of the old Pages '09 apps. Nothing works now. I'm also sure it's not a corrupt file issue, since this is occurring today on multiple Pages files.
What happened, and how can I get my documents to open again? I spent a lot of time getting these docs perfect, and I am desparate not to start over from scratch.
Thanks for any advice!
PS: This problem is occurring even after I deleted all old iWork / Pages apps from the disk, so that's not the problem. I had seen that as a recommendation for previous upgrade cycles.

Anyone tried the new ARD Client just released today (2-1-2012)

Has anyone tried installing and running the new ARD Client released today, Feb. 1, 2012? The info provided by Apple about this update seems to be kind of thin in exactly what was changed.3.5.2, It lists only screen sharing and controlling a computer with two displays. If you have installed it what have you found as both improved or degraded. What OS do you have installed on your client systems? Any changes specific to Lion or Snow Leopard?

Today I connected to a remote server running Mac OS X Server 10.6.8 and ran the updater for Apple Remote Desktop 3.5.2.
It successfully completed and I was able to re-connect. Unfortunately I can no longer "drag and drop". When I pick up an icon, for example, I cannot release it (drop). My controlling computer is running OS X 10.7.3.
I may try to revert to the earlier version of ARD if possible. This is a pretty big problem for me; so I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with this updater. It may be that a reboot will fix the problem; but I have to wait for a convenient time to reboot my server. I need to also test connecting from a 10.6.8 workstation instead of 10.7.3, as this may be a "Lion controlling Snow Leopard" issue.
Either way, I would be wary of this updater.

Well, here's what I found out that works for me...
I had a Pages icon on my dock, and launching it brought up version 4.3. But I went to my Apps folder and found the new updated icon there and when I launced that it brought up version 5.01. So apparently the Apple update process left two versions launchable on my iMac. Weird...
