New version won't run

Hi.
I keep installing the newest version of Firefox but when I open sites (iCloud, Paypal, etc...) they keep telling me that I don't have the latest version of Firefox installed. When I click on "About Firefox", I says I have version 7 installed...but I'm still running V3.5.5...can you tell me what is going on here and how to fix it before I just go back to Internet Explorer?
HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP...this is SO ANNOYING and FRUSTRATING!! I can't find answers anywhere!!??

Your UserAgent string in Firefox was messed up by an addon that you installed. -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent
Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Filter = general.useragent.
Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset.
Then restart Firefox

  • Where can I get a download for an earlier version of firefox the new version won't run on my computer

I downloaded version 4 and replaced the old files. The new version won;t run because my Mac dose not have an Intell prossesor. I uninstalled the new version and I cant find the old version to download.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • New version won't run and crashes, help please? [iOS]

My adobe acrobat pdf reader updated itself to the new DC version and it will not run on my iPad running ios 8.3! When I select the icon for Adobe acrobat dc it runs the opening screen and then moves back to the iPad main screen. If I double press the main iPad button I can see acrobat is running but if I select it I am briefly shown the last open file and then it switches back to the main iPad screen.
I desperately need some files which are stored on the device so can the programme be reset?

    Hi Chris,
Could you force the Acrobat DC app to close and restart it?
Force an app to close in iOS - Apple Support
Does the Acrobat DC app launch successfully after that?
The error message is displayed by the desktop version of Apple iTunes.  Unfortunately, I am not able to find out what exactly is causing the problem with nested folders in iTunes.
Here's the old forum discussion that I found.
Cant backup files that are in folders on my iPad
Please see the last reply in the discussion.
However, if you are unable to launch the Acrobat DC app successfully, you won't be able to change folder names or structure.
Is there no way the app on the iPad can be reset without deleting it or is it possible to reinstall the previous software version which was stable?
Please let us know if force-closing and restarting the app helps.  But if you uninstall any iOS app (not just Acrobat DC or Reader), iOS will erase all of the associated app data (including your PDF document).

  • Old Flash in new Firefox won't run, no warnings.

Opened my laptop using a current version of FF but with Flash 11.9. Viewed one of my pages with Flash content and.... nothing, just an empty div. No warnings that Flash was out of date, etc. So if I have this right FF won't run out of date Flash for security reasons. Fine. I've always seen warnings in these cases. But apparently if Flash is old enough FF just doesn't bother. Visitors have no idea what is happening. It just looks bad.
Is this correct? What is the recommended way of dealing with this from a developer's viewpoint?

We strongly recommend that users always run the latest version of Flash Player.  Running an old version puts users at risk for malware infection.  The vast majority of users are opted in to background update and are kept updated automatically, but there are users that for whatever reason have chosen to stick with an old, vulnerable version of Flash Player.  While this is a bad idea, people are certainly free to do it.  The upside is that the affected population that you're describing is pretty small.
The upgrade story will actually get better over time.  The latest versions of both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer include Flash Player as a built-in component, distributed with the browser.  Users are always updated with the latest version of Flash, and new updates are delivered inline via the Chrome updater or Windows Update respectively.  Mozilla has spent a few years talking about how Flash needs to go away, while the other browser vendors have been investing in modernized plug-in interfaces and improvements in plug-in security, and unfortunately the prioritization is showing in the user experience.  We're hopeful that Windows 10 will pick up the majority of the WinXP and Vista stragglers as well as many of the Win7 - Win8.1 users, which means that the whole Flash update problem for a very large population of people will be solved in IE once people upgrade.
It's hard to say what's at the root of the specific issue you're describing.  With the major browsers on 4 or 6 week major update cycles (we publish monthly to ensure we can catch and address any new injections in the browsers that might come up in nightly/beta versions before they hit the general population, and to align with Microsoft patch tuesday), so you're talking something like 18 months worth of changes between the Firefox version you're running and the version of Flash that you're running.  Everything at Mozilla gets done with bugs, and we'd definitely encourage you to file a bug on the user experience that you're seeing.  They've been operating from a reactive place lately, and some of the changes that impact Flash definitely appear to be a little slapdash.  It's ultimately good for them to hear from the developer community and not just me all the time, but feel free to add me to the CC: list in the bug.
We ultimately have no control over the longevity of a particular build of Flash -- there are way too many external variables -- and we're also investing a huge amount of effort in proactive security work (and it's been our top engineering priority for years).  So each build usually includes large numbers of changes designed to either harden the player or address responsibly disclosed issues from researchers, the larger security and computer science communities and whatever the latest auditing and testing tools we can get our hands on are.  The continuous stream of innovation and ingenuity in the offense space is impressive, but keeps us pretty busy.  Browser-side changes can easily break older versions of the plug-in, and running an old version is just a bad idea.
So we've really streamlined the installation process to keep people on current versions, and Windows 10 will hopefully be a massive shift away from older, more vulnerable versions of Windows.  The landscape is so different than it was even 4-5 years ago.. the days of running anything for years (or months) in your browser are long gone.  The pace isn't going to slow down anytime soon, either.

  • Itunes deleted in computer update. New version won't recognize all CD music

As stated, computer upgraded by individual. Itunes did not come over. Songs would not play at all so I downloaded a newer Itunes than I had before (old version was at least 3 to 4 years old). Newer version installed was 7. All music on the computer in the itunes file was copied from personal CD collection (bought new from local stores over the years, nothing jacked or contraband). The CD music was "converted" to Apple specs as of 3 or 4 years ago and all played fine in the old Itunes. Most all of the music was recognized in the newer Itunes and playable but many were not. Noticed the playable ones listed twice so deleted the copy that would not play BUT all songs not listed twice. Did I interrupt some kind of verification/update somehow. I did not show anything running as an update, no wait or loading bars, etc. At any rate I know very little (obviously) about Itunes stuff, just what I learned when I originally copied the cd's to sync to my husband's ipod. I just want to play the music while I am on the computer and download to his Ipod Nano. Any help on how to "fix" the ones that won't play or resume any kind of "update" that might have been in progress would be appreciated.

itunes actually sells you music you "really" own
The iTunes Store has no "subscription" model; all tracks you purchase are yours forever. Most tracks in the iTunes Store now come without copy protection, though there are still tracks that are copy-protected and so can only be played on an Apple player or burned to audio CD (which will work as does any normal audio CD). You can tell the tracks that lack copy protection by the "+" symbol next to the price in the iTunes Store.
From there it's up to you whether it will be more cost-effective and desirable for you to purchase an iPod and those tracks you don't have in an unprotected format or to get another Zune.

  • Illustrator CS6 Czech version won't run on English Windows 8.1

PLEASE help, I had to get a different computer and Illustrator won't run on it. It comes up with an error that the language is not supported. Can't do anything about it.
I would download and install an English version if I could but I only have an access to the Czech one as that's what I bought. I spent a lot of money for this and it's not working!

  • Brand new macbook won't run off battery, only when plugged in

I just go my new macbook last week and being new to mac computers, I didn't realize that it won't run from just the battery power until last night. The battery light shows it's fully charged. If i'm working with it plugged in and it becomes unplugged, it shuts down and when I reconnect the power cord, it resumes from the same webpage or whatever I was last working on. I opened up the battery compartment and removed the battery and then held the power button for 5 seconds, but that didn't fix the problem. Does anyone know what I might try or if something needs to be set up in order to run off the battery? Thanks! Leigh

    Hello leighdk,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You can by all means take some good advise from the people on this board in response to you problem.
But here is the best advise, especially since you're new to Mac.
Call Apple Care or take it back to the store and have them check it out. It is under warranty. You have 14 days from the date of purchase to return the Mac for a completely different or give it back because you do not like it. they may try to charge you a restocking fee but this should not be the case since there is an issue with you machine.
Call Apple, see what they say... Then if you can't get it resolved then post back and maybe we can give you some sound advise.

  • Need ff to release proxy setting - uninstall of new versions won't release

In the past our systems used a Proxy server, now they don't, and when FF opens it takes forever to open because it is trying to access the proxy. I have been able to remove older versions and it would ask in the uninstall if I wanted to keep settings (i believe user settings), if I checked the box during an uninstall, it would release the proxy server data on the new install. Then when I reinstalled FF, it would pull settings from IE and Internet settings. Newer versions keep proxy server settings, even though I remove Mozilla from C: Program Files. I have set up the settings as an administrator, and then when another person logs on, it doesn't pull the setup data. How can I get around this, I love FF, but I have many users that want to use it but they think it doesn't work so they use other browsers. :-(
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Instead of deleting your profile, try creating a new one. Here's how:
    '''Create a new Firefox profile'''
A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should come with completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder. '''However, if there is a lock file in Firefox's program folder, those preferences will be pushed into the new profile settings as well.'''
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run) -- type or paste the following and press Enter:
    firefox.exe -P
    ''Don't delete anything here.''
Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
Click the Create Profile button, assign a name like March16, and ignore the option to change the folder location. Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
    Any improvement?
When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.

  • New version won't install on Windows 7

Been using itunes for several years with few problems, through many upgrades. Today was told to install the latest version to my Windows7 PC.  After it seemed to be finished installing, I get a pop-up saying I may not have privilege for my Apple Mobile Device - choices are to Abort, Retry, Ignore. I connect my iPhone (which used to work and sync with iTunes just fine), and retry - same pop-up. So I Ignore - same error comes up, with a new one: Install error 7 (windows error 126).  If I abort, it removes the install. I've rebooted and taken down all other software, and tried to reinstall, with same error.  If I try to run itunes, I get error that MSVCR80.dll is missing, and am told to reinstall.  After trying that, I get all the same issues.   Have I lost the 1000 or so songs and podcasts? What should I do? Help!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Newest version won't run on my PC.

When I downloaded version 4 it went through the installation and then hung up while checking plugins.

Won't open on my Mac either.   Photoshop CC is ok.
I have tried uninstalled both the new lightroom and the old lightroom, reinstall the new lightroom, reboot.  Still will not run.
Now, where can I get the stand alone version of Lightroom again to get up and running?
    Awesome update Adobe!

  • New HD won't run without old one...

    hello.
After lots of help from my educated peers on this discussion site, i installed a 2nd hard drive into my G5 quad power pc.
I then used carbon copy cloner to clone the old drive onto the new one(because i recently moved and forgot my install disk on the west coast), and when i re-booted, i was able to boot from the old HD (which still barely works), and then i was able to select the new HD in system prefs - startup disk, and then re-booted agian, and it would boot up on the new HD, and work great.
And every time after that, it would always boot from the new HD, and work fine.
Except that the old HD is still in the other bay, apparently working in conjunction with the new one.
I know this because I cannot get the new HD to boot if it's the only HD in the machine. I tried both HD bays.
I even tried to boot up while holding down the Option key, but the HD won't show up at all. Tried both HD bays.
    Any thoughts?
I'm having my friend ship my my install disk, but if carbon copy cloner is as good as it says, i shouldn't have to do a clean install and have to go through the hassle of doing a full backup, and restoring....etc..etc..etc.
    Any thoughts?
i tried every combination of HD bays with both HDs.
The new one just won't work by itself.
And, the old HD needs to be in the top(primary bay), or else nothing works.
    thanks!

Ya know, today, my Mail program is acting very funky.
I launch it, and I get the spinning color wheel immediately, and then it quits itself.
Also, when I reboot, i see a quick flash of weird graphics on the monitor for a split second.
    Doesn't look right.
Oh, and now, I'm finding out that the machine randomly reboots from either HD.
I just tried to reboot, and it tried to boot from the old HD in the other bay. ( i know this because the old HD takes 5 minutes to boot, and the internal fans run at full speed during the whole boot up process ).
Now, i tried to reboot again, and it booted fine from the new HD>
    Weird.
    maybe i'll try super duper.
Problem is that the old drive took 2 full days to clone when i used CCC.
The old HD is so sluggish that it is barely usable.
Hopefully i can get a full clone out of it.
Regardless, i'm just going to have to do a clean install to feel comfortable about this machine at this point.

  • The new version won't work with my AVG-antivirus I had to uninstall

My problem is the exact opposite of the other people. AVG is just fine, it was the latest version of Firefox I deleted after it told me my AVG anti-virus program wasn't compatible now.
I want to re-install my old version because I completely uninstalled it from my programs list.

AVG has been working hard to keep up with Firefox's rapidly advancing version numbers. Support for Firefox 11 was released in Service Pack 1 according to this post from the AVG forums (yesterday): [http://forums.avg.com/ww-en/avg-forums?sec=thread&act=show&id=196419 AVG Forums - Weekly Overview: 14/2012].
However, you do need the latest version in order to benefit from these new patches. If you aren't already running a 2012 version, the first step would be to upgrade now.
