New Videora Converter Questions

Hi, I have the dvd decrypter and the videora converter. I have had success in one of the movies I put on there. (Shrek 2) However when I want to put longer movie on, it says at the beginning of the decryption that I have like 51,548,000 kb of free space but when it gets down to 46,000,000 kb it says Not enough free space on disk? Can someone please explain to me what that means and how maybe I can get more space for my movies. I have one problem with the ipod converter as well, it sometimes goes to like 22 hours remaining. Does anyone know why it does that? lol The last thing is, when I put "The Forgotten" on my computer, for some reason, it put the "director's Commentary" on the movie. Does anyone know what is wrong with that? lol I seem to have a lot of problems but I'm getting the hang of it! Please answer back..Thanks

Known bugs (Stuff that don't work) posted on the Videora web site for all to read prior to installing:
Known Bugs
Audio/Video sync
Problem - Output files can be out-of-sync. While no set pattern has been established, it seems to be more frequent with input files of 23.976 fps, non-DVD rips, and WMV/MPG filetypes.
Workaround solutions - Try the custom option '-async 1'. If the disconnect gradually increases over time, setting 29.97 fps sometimes gets rid of the problem regardless of the input fps. You can also use AviSynth to assume the FPS and have the audio sync to that. If it's a sudden disconnect, check your VOB Cell settings in DVD Decrypter settings per this thread. Otherwise, test with an AviSynth script per the DaProphecy's method in the FAQ. For non-DVD files, PSPVideo 9 may be a good short-term solution until the converter stabilizes some more or try something like AviDemux.
Audio track not getting picked up
Problem - The IFO stream rip is fine, but the converted file has no sound. The debug info showed to audio track getting picked up. The most obvious case with this is the Madagascar DVD.
Workaround solution ideas - Test with an AviSynth script per the DaProphecy's method in the FAQ (untested). Use a different DVD ripper.
Program doesn't start (.NET issue?)
Problem - Converter errors upon starting with an extended dump.
Solution ideas - Update .NET framework (in all languages you're using!) to most recent solution. Clean out registry. Neither of these have worked for some.
Progress meter incorrect
Problem - During transcodes, the progress meter can be incorrect; thus, transcoding continues after the meter hits 100% and time remaining is zero. People have been seeing this more often with VOB files and/or the H.264 codec.
Workaround - Figure out the length of your movie in seconds and compare that to the 'Processed' field. A 2-hour movie will not finish until Processed hits 7200 seconds.
Artifacts (bad video quality) in darker scenes
Problem - Scenes with darker background colors tend to have more artifacts (blocked video). It's much more obvious on the iPod, so this may be an Apple firmware problem.
Workaround ideas - Use a VBR setting (FQ->VBR, two-pass A->VBR) to improve video quality. The custom option '-mbd 2' might help.
Desktop icon
Problem - When installing, the desktop icon does not appear/stick when using lower color setups.
Workarounds - Select a 32-bit color scheme in your desktop settings, or change the icon in the shortcut.
Profile changes don't always stick
Problem - If you make a change to a profile, click apply, and immediately trancdoe with that profile, the transcode might not use the new settings.
Workarounds - Once you click apply, swtich to another profile and back again to make sure the change is still there. If that doesn't work, create a new profile.
Can only install/use with admin rights
Problem - There have been reports of non-admin users not being able to use the converter.
Workarounds - Separate installs or give all users admin rights.
When will known bugs get fixed? When will new features get added?
The textbook answer is "whenever they get fixed/added." My honest, direct answer is "I don't know." I am not officially associated with Videora or any of its employees. I only have mod rights because I asked for them in order to organize this forum a bit.

  • Presenter 8 -- need help with proper settings to allow quiz retake (with a NEW set of questions from a random pool)

We are publishing a Presenter 8 quiz to an LMS in a SCORM format.  I am having trouble with the following:  the quiz is built with multiple question groups, and a limited number of questions are being selected from each group.  E.g. we have 80+ questions in total, and 25 are presented to a user on a given attempt.
When a user fails the quiz and exits the quiz normally, we want them to study and try again.  I set the quiz settings to allow infinite attempts, and set the LMS settings to make sure the quiz is not presented in "review mode".  When I test this quiz by failing it the first time, when I reenter the quiz, I am taken to the last slide in the quiz (which is the last one I viewed), and I can retake the quiz by navigating back to the first question.
Here's the problem:  I am presented with the SAME set of questions, rather than a NEW set of random questions.  This will facilitate cheating (all a user has to do is take the quiz once, review the answers, and then take it again to pass it).
How do I insure that the user is presented with a NEW set of questions when I retake the quiz?
I am open to upgrading to Adobe Presenter 10, but would rather not have to do so.  There must be some setting I'm missing.

  • How do I get updates for videora converter?

I installed videora converter for the Ipod but I dont know how to update the software if there is an update.

You need to connect to iTunes using the supplied dock connector to usb cable. You will see the iPad appear under devices on the right hand side. Select it and you can click on update.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972
If you have never connected or done a sync before you will need to transfer content to your computer first. If you attempt a sync for the first time the iPad will be erased. See below before you update in this case.
For iTunes content - transfer purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
If you have content not bought from iTunes you will need to search for a 3rd party program to transfer them.
To backup your iPad's data, right click on the iPad (under devices) and select backup

    Ahoi!
Just to let you know that Elecard released an brand new AVCHD Converter. I tried it with Bootcamp and the Demo works. The Converter can open and convert the Sony .mts and .m2ts files. At the moment I have a problem with the HDV output because of missing audio.

I assume you're talking about a cable that plugs into the iPhone's 3½mm sound output port on top of the iPhone.
When the music is playing, while it's plugged into your car, look at the volume at the bottom of the iPhone's music screen.  Is it turned up reasonably high?

  • Old External to New MBP cable question (Time sensitive)

I have a new MBP (purchased late january 2011). New external drives all connected properly and working. However, I need to access some old files for tax purposes (and that is why this is a time sensitive question.) These files were kept on a 60GB, small, portable drive: SmartDisk FireLite Model #FWFL60-N. This drive connected to my old MBP with a 4-pin firewire cable (wire has IEEE 1394 printed on it.) Obviously that cable is outdated for my new MBP. Question: Is there some type of wire (or conversion adaptor) I can purchase that will allow me to connect this old drive to the new computer? I never thought I'd need those old files -- but tax season has me scrambling for help or advice. Thanks!

You need a 9-pin to 4-pin cable or adapter. For example this one from Macsales.

  • 3 Questions from a new Blackberry convert

Hello! I'm a PocketPC user turned BB owner and I dove in with the 8900.
I just have a few usability questions and I'm hoping you can help...
    1. Is there a way to have notifications of new SMS, email, and IM messages pop up? I get the tiny icon at the top, but I have to back out of whatever I'm doing, go into the appropriate app, and guess where the message is. I saw a couple of apps on Handango that might do this, but they don't seem to work with IMs, which is the worst of the all. Any suggestions? (I'm spoiled by my multitasking PPC.)
    2. Can I change the icons that appear on the first screen? I have two email accounts so I have the messages thing, one email, the other email, then contacts, calendar and browser. The second email pushed the Media icon off. Is this customizable?
    3. This is a biggie for me: When I create an event in the calendar, I know that I can set the reminder for whatever I want. And I found the option to set the default snooze time when the event pops up. But here's the thing: there are some events that I want to warn myself about 3 days in advance, then snooze til the next day, and others (like picking up a kid, for instance) that I want to have pop up 30 minutes before and snooze for 15 minutes. As far as I can tell though, if I want to snooze for any amount of time other than the default, I have to open the event itself and change the reminder time. Is there any other way?
Thank you so much for your insights!
    ~emily

    Hi and welcome
    1. I recomend you to solve this problem with two programms: BerryBuzz and Aerize Email
    2. Press the Menu button (left of the trackball), go to the icon you like to move, press the menu button again, choose Move and move the icon in the very first row. On this way you will get it on the homescreen.
    3. I think, you cannot set different times for snooze and popup a calendar event, popup and snooze happens in the same time (f.e. 15 min, 30 min, x day etc before the event). If you want tohave different notification for each event, you must change itfor every event separately.

  • Question about Videora Converter

  • Videora iPod converter Questions

    Hey,
Whenever I use Videora to convert my movie files from my PC (.wmv and .mov)... it goes really fast through the video and doesn't even take time to transcode. Then, when I try to open the transcoded files it says "Error! File not a valid movie file"
Anybody else having this same problem?

Not sure about .wmv and .mov, but I've used the Videora iPod Converter to convert a number of .mpg files to .mp4 and they worked fine and loaded and played fine of the iPod

  • New W530 setup questions...

Just received my W530 in the mail and I've been trying to get up to speed on all the new technology out there and how to properly setup my computer... I've tried various searches but haven't got a clear answer I don't think - here goes:
    W530 8gb RAM (2x4), K2000, 500 gb HDD with raid option, x64 win 7, hi res screen
I already bought a Samsung EVO SSD 250GB for the main drive which I will pickup from my US mailbox on Monday.
The reason I bought the computer is because my 4 year old Acer just couldn't handle the intensity of PlanSwift and On-Centre digital estimating programs for construction. In addition I dabble with Chief Architect Premiere for 3D house design and the Adobe Suite to do graphics stuff for the company, etc., etc. I will likely take some CAD related courses at school as well in the future.
My plan was to install OS and programs on the new SSD in the main bay and keep current project files on there. All misc pictures, videos and company files and other things on the HDD which would be in the UltraBay. I currently use about 180 GB and have another 250GB stored on an old laptop which I'd like to transfer over so everything is on one laptop. That one will be for internet searches in the garage for dirtbike repairs
    Questions:
    1. Is it worth getting a 128 GB mSata drive for the OS (under $100 for Crucial)? Then have all program files on SSD in main bay and misc files on HDD in ultrabay? do I need an adapter for the ultrabay or is it already able to accept the HDD in the ultrabay? I haven't popped out the ultrabay yet to see...
    2. I hear of using the mSata drive for Caching? Is 128 GB enough for OS and caching? When is the caching helpful? Should I use the mSata just for caching?
    3. Do I setup the computer with the OS on the HDD in the main bay and then clone/image it to the mSata drive oro SSD drive? Or do I start with the SSD in the main bay? I'm really confused on this part...
    4. If necessary I will upgrade the RAM later - I think this is a straightforward upgrade as long as the voltages with the original RAM are the same - is this correct?
    5. I currently use a Sony KDL 40XBR8 TV as a second monitor at work - what connection should I be using to get the best display settings? I currently use an HDMI with my Acer for no particular reason. I also have an Acer 23" at home which will be replaced with another Sony or Samsung TV when we move into our new house...
sorry for the noob questions... I am typically really good at finding answers to my questions but i really didn't find any clear answers or they were so technical I didn't realize it was the answer to my question ;-)
Can someone give me a practical approach to setting up my computer so I can start off right... thanks!!
    Daniel
    Thanks in advance
    Daniel
ps can't wait to light this thing up with the SSD! It should rip pretty good...
    | W530 | i7-3630QM | 16GB DDR3 | 128GB mSATA | 250GB 840 EVO | 500GB HDD | 1920x1080 | QUADRO K2000M |

Hi Daniel.  When I bought my w530 I immediately installed a 256gb SSD. And now, over a year later I'm looking at getting a 256gb mSata for the boot drive.
    1. The mSata port may only be Sata II but I figure it's not likely that I'll notice the difference.  High transfer rates are really only realized with large files and the OS is usually a large collection of very small files.  But that's just an opinion and your experience may vary.
For an ultrabay adapter, check out newmodeus.  Quite a few forum posts mention success with this adapter versus the cheap ones from eBay.  I haven't bought one yet myself, but this is what I will get when the time comes.  (they also sell an adapter  to convert your optical drive into an external USB optical drive.)
    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_7&products_id=400
Also, search the forum and be aware that there are many who report problems of the w530 kicking out the ultrabay drive, but it seems better with the newmodeus adapter (as I recall; it was quite a while back when I read about it).  I haven't looked at what ncix carries for adapters but would be interested to know if you find something that works.
And the drives shipped with the w530 come in different heights, and if it doesn't match the height of your SSD you will need rubber rails.  I still haven't ordered mine and I'm letting my drive sit in the overheight internal bay without proper support.   I just carry it very carefully.  I'm not sure of the best place to get rails, direct from Lenovo or elsewhere.  Last time I checked with Newmodeus they didn't sell just rails, but that may have changed (it was quite a while ago that I checked).
    2. Caching only helps if your OS boot partition is on a traditional harddrive.  With an SSD you won't utilize the caching as it won't be any faster (and may be slower).
    3. I would try installing direct to the mSata/SSD instead of cloning.  For a new system it's probably just as easy and less prone to issues.  Windows will take care of alignment, etc., and turning off features unnecessary for SSD (superfetch/prefetch/and all that).
I also don't believe it necessary to install Win7 fresh.  It depends on your view.  I didn't want the hassle of tracking down a legit copy of Win7 install that I would trust, not to mention the hassle of installing it.  Instead, I made the restore DVD(s) using the Lenovo tools whlie the original harddrive was installed, then switched the drive with the new SDD and restored from the DVDs.  Then I went through and uninstalled any Lenovo software I didn't think was useful.  It's been working nicely ever since and I don't regret not starting with a fresh install.  Your experience may vary, though.
    4. Upgrading ram is very easy.  I'm not sure about specs, but if you don't match voltage and speed the system will downgrade both to the lowest common available.  You should be able to find many discussions about matching RAM voltage on the 'net.  You also would have to wait until your system arrives anyways because you don't know the specs of the RAM in advance (since Lenovo uses different suppliers).
I'm not sure how much RAM you'd need for CAD software.  I upgraded mine to 32gb because I didn't want to find myself wishing I had more (for software development).  I think I only ever hit as high as 20gb used, and am usually around the 6-12gb mark (depends on how many VMs I have going).
    5. Sorry, I can't answer your video question.  I use the docking station with two monitors via DVI.  I haven't tried HDMI.
Before you sell off the extra parts, make sure you don't need them for warranty coverage.  Warranty will only cover the system with original parts, so if you have to send in your system you would remove all custom parts and reinstall the originals.  I'm not sure about onsite service, if you have to revert your system or not to original specs.
All comments I made above were in respect of Win7 Pro.  I have no idea if anything changes under Win8/8.1.
Good luck!  I hope you enjoy your w530 as much as I do mine.

  • Adding third party video card to P700 - no power connectors? New Power Supply Question...

    Hello,
I have a new P700 30A90012US with a 650W PSU and that didn't come with a video card. I am planning to use it as a DAW and for occasional gaming via a dual boot.
I wanted to put in a third party video card like a nVidea 970 but there aren't ANY connectors for video cards that I can find inside. The monitor I have is a 3440x1440 monitor. I have ordered a second 2609 Processor and RAM from Lenovo and have the following questions:
Once I install the second processor, how much wattage for a video card is available to me?
I understand that the 3rd party video card isn't supported but how do I attach power to it?
If it is required that I have to replace the 650 power supply with an 850, does it come with the required cable? I only see a 4 pin connector on the mobo that is unused (and I believe it is for additional hdd)
I tried searching but I am at a loss.
    Thanks,

Your config isn't really power hungry (and the 85W CPUs help a lot).  Though technically outside of the official spec, I think you could easily go to a 225W card for graphics if you had the connectors available to support it.  I'll double check the current when I get a chance, but it's probably really low risk if you want to convert your single 6-pin connector to dual 6-pin or a single 8-pin (via a dongle) to get to 225W TDP if you wanted to.
The PSU design is very modular, but unfortunately it's the aux power cable drops that kept it from being an easy field upgradable part.  I always recommend that people buy the larger PSU if they ever think they'll be doing any upgrades in the future just to make sure they are covered.
And like I said if you're comfortable working inside the system, it's not impossible to upgrade that cable drop on your own if you want to go up to the 850W.  You'd have to get the cable and PSU, but after that it would require removing the motherboard and PSU, cutting some cable ties and routing the new cable, then getting everything routed correctly such that the motherboard reinstalls cleanly.

  • Kona DVCPro HD to HDCAM Cross-Convert Question for Shane Ross

Hi Shane (Or anyone else whose done this)... Shane posted the comment below at Creative Cow Oct'06:
Quoting Shane: "...because with FCP I can capture DVCPRO HD 720p 23.98 and edit at full resolution. When I lock picture I can, with the use of a Kona 3, cross convert to 1080p 23.98 via the hardware and output to HDCAM."
GREAT! I want to mimic this workflow!!! I have a completed project that was edited as above in FCP (based on your creative cow video tutorial). I shot with the HVX200.
    1. Are you happy with the cross-converted 960X720 DVCPro HD footage to 1080p 23.98 quality? I'm assuming this is 1920X1080...
1b. Why not 1280X720? The original .mxf. Seems like that would provide better resolution . What am i missing?
    2. Any Artifacting/aliasing? How did titles and transitions hold up? Did the reds bleed?
    3. Are there any new advances that you've come across that i should look into as well?
    4. And, can you be more specific about how you did question # 1. What codec; Does it come with the card or is it in FCP? What VTR do you suggest?
    5. Can i do the above with a BlackMagic card? Which one?
    6. What am i forgetting to ask?
Big fan, your posts have saved me hours of headaches over the last 5 months. Cheers...

    1. Are you happy with the cross-converted 960X720 DVCPro HD footage to 1080p 23.98 quality? I'm assuming this is 1920X1080...
Absolutely. It looks great. But, this is HDCAM, so it is anamorphic HD...1440x1080. Since DVCPRO HD is anamorphic as well...it all works out.
1b. Why not 1280X720? The original .mxf. Seems like that would provide better resolution . What am i missing?
The network delivery specs require a 1080p 23.98 master on HDCAM or D5. They chose that because you can convert that into anything.
    2. Any Artifacting/aliasing? How did titles and transitions hold up? Did the reds bleed?
No artifacting or aliasing whatsoever. Titles and transitions all held up. No bleeding in the reds.
    3. Are there any new advances that you've come across that i should look into as well?
ProRES...that will come with FCP 6. I'll be playing with that codec when I get my hands on it.
    4. And, can you be more specific about how you did question # 1. What codec; Does it come with the card or is it in FCP? What VTR do you suggest?
It was really VERY simple. The Kona 3 has an option in the Kona control panel to cross convert 720p to 1080p. We chose that. Then we blacked the first 3 min of the tape, then used EDIT TO TAPE to output. The card did everything. Not sure about the model of the VTR...it was the Sony HDCAM deck (not HDCAM SR).
    5. Can i do the above with a BlackMagic card? Which one?
I don't know if any of the Blackmagic cards can cross convert. You'll have to ask them.
    6. What am i forgetting to ask?
Where you can send the check for all the workflow advice I am giving to you (and everyone)
Also, how did we deal with our downconverted masters we were also required to deliver. While the network wants an HD master, they don't air HD. They air in SD from a digitbeta master. We had to do a separate output to digibeta with all the graphics properly sized for letterbox output.
