New Vista machine says iTunes is not a valid Win32 application

I am trying to install iTunes on my new Sony Vaio running Vista. When I try to install iTunes, it says iTunes is not a valid Win32 application. Can anyone help me...I have no idea what this means or what to do. Thanks!

After being on hold forever and then told it would cost me $30 for apple to troubleshoot, the lady at apple told me that since there are so many people trying to download itunes 7, the server is jammed up and to keep trying. so, i did. After about 10 attempts it downloaded successfully. So keep trying or try late at night when so many people aren't clogging up apple's server. Hope this helps.

I tried to update my itunes to 11.1.3, but it says itunes64setup is not a valid Win32 application? What do I do now?

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • When I try to install Firefox with the 6.0 setup, it says it's not a valid win32 application, this is on windows xp any way to fix?

It is an oldish computer running windows XP, moving to firefox since I used it on my laptop and wanted to put it on this computer. I ran the setup and it says it is not a valid win32 application and closes, well i say close, it barey opens. i also tried saving the setup and runnig it that way but that failed as well. I might just download an older version of firefox, but I'd love to use the latest one.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
See "Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences - Windows"

  • 743 download will not run - msg says it is "not a valid Win32 application"

We have ipod nanos which we use itunes with. We just got the newest nano which requires the 743 version, so I downloaded and saved it, but when I tried to run it, I got the message that it is "not a valid Win32 application". the new download is in my documents folder, but will not run. I tried going on to itunes to troubleshoot, but it told me to delete the download and try again. the only itunes I could find was the older version I am using. If I delete that, it will erase all my existing music, correct??? I DON'T want to loose my music again (been thru that when getting new computer). I did go to my documents and erase the 743 download in there, but when I tried to download it again, I got a message saying I already have it, and it shows up in my documents again.
PS I tried to back up my music on my flash drive, but it would not transfer to my new computer, so I have no backup. I need to install the new version to get music on my new nano. Any suggestions??? Getting frustrated. Thanks! Penny http://www.theallensisters.com

  • I cannot run setup because a box appears saying it is not a valid win32 application

I have down loaded Firefox but cannot run the set up. When I try and open set up, a box appears saying the it is not a valid win 32 application. How do I get round this please?

    Do a clean (re)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
If you keep having problems then disable your ant-virus software temporarily during the download and installation of Firefox.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • When I try to open a downloaded software, a window says exe. is not a valid win32 application

i downloaded skype update and when I click open a window pops saying C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Downloads\SkypeSetup(1).exe is not a win32 application

What's the name of the file you are attempting to open?  Is it "ScreenFlow_4.5.2.dmg"?  If it is the correct name then the message is correct and you are attempting to open a file with DMG files extension and not one with a PDF file extension.  Adobe Reader opens PDF files an not any other file type.

  • TS1406 iTunes is not a valid Win32 application...still! HELP please!!!

I did everything that this and other sites said to do, I tried downloading iTunes off of google chrome, Firefox, safari, and Internet explorer after removing all existing files of iTunes, iTunes setup, Quicktime, and Quicktime setups on both my computer and browsers. Still this message pops up when I try to download iTunes. I also tried downloading QuickTime after having deleted it and it downloaded easily with no difficulty while iTunes is being difficult for me. Please help I have no clue what to do, I am in big need of iTunes on my Computer (PC.) HELP!!!

Perhaps try downloading and saving a copy of the installer to a different PC. (If you're on a 32-bit Windows system, try to download on a different 32-bit Windows system.) Copy the iTunesSetup.exe installer to an external hard-drive, or a large-enough thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R. Carry the installer back to your PC, copy the installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install from the ExHD, thumb or CD-R.) Start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.

  • Can't update/install itunes- 'not a valid win32 application' PLEASE HELP

    Hi Guys,
I'm having some serious problems with installing iTunes on my laptop. I have searched and searched the internet and can not find any solution to my problem. I am receiving the error "itunes is not a valid win32 application' after the program finishes downloading. Sometimes however it will just stop in the middle of the download. I use a SONY VAIO VGN-NW25GF which was only purchased last year. It uses windows 7. I had trouble downloading itunes to begin with though eventually it worked, however since the new 10.1 update has been available ive been attempting to update it almost every time i use itunes. Each and every time it fails and i've had enough as i need to update my iphone software. I’ve since uninstalled both itunes and quicktime hoping it will reinstall properly. But nothing, the same problem is occurring and now i have no itunes program!
I've tried all the solutions online about deleting browing history/temp folder and any itunessetup.exe/quicktimesetup.exe files and nothing works. I've also tried downloading using a different browser and still nothing. I’ve done a virus scan, disk cleanup and disk defragment and NOTHIGN is working. I'm starting to get quite frustrated as i need this program for my iphone. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks 
