New Voicemail Notification Not Disappearing

So I've been having this problem for about a month now.  The New Voicemail notification is not going away after I check my voicemail, even if I don't have any voicemails.  I figured the notification would go away after I updated to Android 2.2, but it's still there.  I'm using the basic Verizon Wireless Voicemail, if that helps.  Anyone know how to get rid of this.  A friend told me I would have to restore the phone to factory settings, but I'm trying to avoid that.

Bumping this.  Anyone else ever have this problem?

  • 'New voicemail' notification issue

My iPhone 4 is showing a 'new voicemail' notification, but when I call I don't have a voicemail? Is there a way to reset the notifications or has anyone else experienced this?

There is a 3rd party program called Kate (used to be Caterpillar), which among many other things allowed you to customize the notification settings. I used Caterpillar way back when with a Jailbroken iPhone, so I don't know if they are offering their products through the legit channels now or not (mind you, it never worked consistently).
You can find them here. It looks like they are still offering this product, but may be not through the App store. You would have to install it yourself, so proceed at your own risk:

I too brought up this feature way back when I bought my first iPhone. It is simply absurd. Apple or someone else will hopefully address this ASAP.
+And as for Mr Anderson, this is not something that would be pointed out on the specs of a device. Even the simplest analog answering machine way back in the 1980's had a persistent beep to notify you if there were messages waiting for you. And EVERY cell phone I have EVER owned has had this feature, so it is perfectly understandable that those of us who find this a great omission, would like to voice our discontent.+
+As for this NOT being the proper place to ask for feature requests, you are plain wrong. Many a times there are workarounds and 3rd party solutions that we would never hear about if everyone was to simply submit their requests to Apple. Also this is a great way to find out if others share your point of view or not. Even if Apple does not officially read these forums, I can guarantee you that given enough critical mass behind an issue, they will find out about it. I know, because I happen to be a software developer and have experienced this many times first hand.+
Thank you EVERYONE for sharing and posting even if you are don't have as many posts as others...

  • Voicemail notifications not working for iphone 4s

voicemail notifications not working for iphone 4s

I had the same problem and after a lot of research here and on Verizon I finally discovered that it was an app named Onavo Extend that was preventing my voicemail from working. Other people have had success resetting their phone or network settings, disabling and reenabling SIRI, or deleting the Neilsen app (which I didn't have)  but those options didn't work for me. A lot of mods have claimed that this is not an Apple problem but if it is caused by an app that Apple allows to be sold in their app store, then it is an Apple problem, not a carrier problem. Of course, sometimes its just an ID 10 T problem.

  • HT201436 Accessing Visual Voicemail and receiving notifications of new voicemails is not working now that I upgraded to iOS 7, using carrier T-Mobile, am I alone?

I can only listen to old voicemails in Visual Voicemail since before the iOS upgrade.  I am curious whose issue this is to resolve, T-Mobile made it sound like it is Apple's problem and Apple seems to think that it is T-Mobiles.  Does anyone know who is working on this issue? Not having Visual voicemail *****, but not knowing you have new messages is just not cool when you depend on them for work!  I need this fixed ASAP or I need to find a different carrier.  Anyone else having this issue with a different carrier?

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
     Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • Voicemail Notifications - NOT without Verizon Data...

Someone tweeted about this and I have verified. Unlike the ATT version, you have to have DATA turned on or you will not get VOICEMAIL notifications. ATT sends this a special text message(I think) but VZ apparently sends it down the data path. So I am not exactly sure how you would know you have voicemail without data. Being that this Verizon and the coverage they offer, I am guessing that I will be without Data and have a cell signal but I guess it is possible.
Just an observation that I thought I would share with the group.

voicemails come down as data on both phones... voicemail comes to the phone as a sound file which requires a data connection

  • Voicemail notifications not displayed

Voicemail notifications are not displayed on my Phone App on Apple 5s unless cellular data is enable displaying it on visual voicemail.
I would like to be notified of voicemail even when cellular data is disabled as it was before.
How do I set this up?

tomefleming, I don't want you to miss any of your voice mails. While you are connected to your wi-fi do you still have your cellular data turned on? You can always check when you are on wi-fi go into your Settings, tap on Cellular, and make sure the switches are green for Cellular Data and Enable LTE. You will only get notifications for voice mail while on the cellular data network. You should still be getting missed call notifications and you will be able to dial into your Voice mail with *86 while cellular data is disabled.

  • How do I make the new voicemail notification (red dot) go away on iPhone 4?

I got a voicemail and listened to it and deleted it. now the little red dot over the phone icon is still on and won't go away. I have iPhone 4 and just updated to 4.3.5. I'm with TELUS in Canada. Any help would be apreciated.

why did you revive a thread that had been dead for two years? next time, make sure you're posting on an active thread.

I had the exact same problem. Iphone 5s on SpeakOut711/Rogers, Canada. There was no voicemail message, and yet the voicemail icon one the phone (dual spools thingy) stays on, regarless of how many times I check my voicemail.
I got it to 'reset' like this:
    - Call your own cell phone and leave yourself a voice message.
    - Wait for a few minutes.
    - Check your voicemail from your cell phone by pressing (touching?) the voicemail icon which has the red dot (although it may also work if you checked via land line, but not sure).
    - Delete your message.
You will notice that the icon disappears as soon as you hangup your call. It looks like some voicermail notification sync error between phone and the service provider.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • New voicemail notification

My iphone 4 shows an unread voicemail (red dot) with shaw.ca as our phone provider. There are no unread voicemails or no saved voicemails. We tried rebooting but not sure what else to try. Please help!

Some of my messages were taking up to 6 hours to show up. I finally called AT&T and got a real tech guy on the phone, not a customer service tech guy. After walking me through dozens of steps he called Apple. We were all on the phone for 1 hour. They had to completely zapp my account and start from scratch. That didn't work. They think it's a bad SIM. AT&T is FedEx'ing me a brand new one now. The funny thing is, a few hours after all this, my messages are now showing up within 3 minutes. Go figure.

  • NEW VOICEMAIL notification stays on

One the voicemail has been heard and deleted the icon on the phone should disappear (like it does on the S3 etc). By staying on it leads you to think you have another one.

once you play the voicemail the icon will disappear, it takes a minute sometimes

  • New Voicemail Notification Taking Over an Hour To Show Up?

Has anyone run into this issue? And if so, does anyone know any tips on how to improve it?
It seems like my iPhone takes up to an hour for the 'new voice mail' notification to appear... which can be very frustrating. I searched around, but wasn't able to locate any info on this issue.
If anyone has any tips, please let me know... thanks so much.

  • Sprint iPhone 4 - voicemail notification not working

I can't seem to figure out how to set my iPhone 4 on the Sprint network to show a notification indication when I have a voicemail?  I know someone on Verizon that gets their voicemessages listed in some sort of list - I don't get nothing - no notice whatsoever!  Please advise or I don't have to wait in line at the Sprint store.

Oh, OK, so your big issue is with Notification Center.  Personally, I have mail off in Notification Center, but my iPhone buzzes anyway when locked, which happens to be enough info for me.
But I see your original post says you have set up Notification Center properly to give you visual as well as audio clues you have email waiting, but it's not working.
I wonder if resetting your iPhone would help.  Try holding the home and on/off buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.

  • E66 - New Message Notification not accurate

Not sure anyone having this problem with your E66 device. Whenever there's a SMS received, there will be a 'new message notififaction' shown on the main screen of the phone and there's a count showing how many unread SMS in bracket.
I got this problem where the Nokia PC Suite showing the Inbox is having more than hundred unread SMS but the phone is only showing 99 unread SMS. No matter how many SMS coming in, it still showing a maximum count of 99 SMS.
Anyone experienced this before? or is it a bug?

    Hi ellemkay,
I don´t own an E51, this is just an informed guess: I guess that the counter for new SMS is set to two digits internally, so it can´t display a number greater than 99 even when the 110th SMS comes in. So, it is a limitation, but not exactly a bug as it´s uncommon for anyone to have more than 99 unread SMS in their inbox.

  • Problem with home phone voicemail notification

    Hey guys,
Both with my old phone as well as my new phone (AT&T CL81209 DECT 6.0 Cordless telephone) I have been noticing problems with the voicemail notification on the phone since my move of service. I thought I used to have it where it would have the clicks when you first turn on the phone, but I don't hear them anymore. Is there anything that I am doing wrong? My phone should automatically display when I have a new voicemail notification.
    Thanks!

Are you referring to the stutter dial tone when you first take receiver off hook, or the vm light indicator, in either case please send me a pm with your phone number  and I will look into this for you. Thanks
