New W 510 AC Adapter

I just got my new ac adapter or power supply with the new W 510. This power supply is too big. It says it is 7 amps and with the i7 chip onboard the TP maybe it needs it. I tried running the power adapter from my older W500 but the new computer sensed it and said to use the new adapter. This new adapter is too big especially if you travel alot like I do. Does any one have any suggestions on where I can get a smaller one or will the old one work ok? Somebody help please.

Sorry, there is no help coming -- your options are to use the big power supply provided, or pick up a 90w power supply and suffer from erratic performance issues.
I strongly advocate picking up another 135w supply and not using a 90w one as it's caused me nothing but grief and headache. If you're looking for portability, the w510 was a poor choice.

I got a JVC DV camcorder with firewire 400 output and I've got a Macbook Air 2012 with 8gb 1600 MHz DDR3, intel i7 2GHz, 256 ssd harddisk and intel HD graphics 4000 512 mb. It has thundebolt but no firewire port.
I wanted to connect these two item and then bought the new "thunderbolt to firewire 800" and the "800 to 400 firewire adapter cable".
I then connect both cables to each other and pluged it in to the JVC DV. I started up iMovie and pressed play on the camcorder, but the signal can't get through and the Macbook Air does not find the camcorder at all? What have I done wrong? Please help..

I have one of the original iPods. I also had an old aluminum Mac. I had a lot of music stored on both. My Mac no longer works because the software doesn't update. But my iPod still works and has all of my old music stored. I'd like to sync it to my current PC, but the adapter is so old that it doens't work with new laptops. Is there something I can purchase, so I can have my old music moved to my newer iPod thru a PC?

On the new laptop, launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.

Ipod shuffle 2nd gen does not charge on new 5W USB power adapter

Hi,
my perfectly functional ipod shuffle 2nd gen with original dock will not charge with the new Continental Europe 5W USB power adapter, even though the specs of the power adapter include the 2nd generation shuffle. Shuffle will blink orange three times, longer than normal blinking, and then do nothing. probably nothing I can do about it, but worth a note. The US model of the new 5W adapter does not include the 2nd gen shuffle, so maybe it is an error on the apple specs page.
Maybe the 2nd gen needs more than 5W to charge?

indeed, it needs the bigger 12 Watt Adapter and the apple site is wrong.

New Bee, Help File Adapter

I am new to XI , I have a basic question on file adapter.
I have configured a file adapter to pick a file with name abc.txt and delete it. Assumes my total scenario takes 30 min to complete. If i get another file in the source folder after 5 min. Does XI process the second file also parallel. Or does it finish first file and then process the second file?

the file adapter will pick the file as soon as possible
from the folder but you can set quality of service
EOIO so it will wait until the first one will finish
(and other parameters in the integration eigine
so your flow will be processed by one queue only)
but basically it will be processed in paralel
(with standard config)

It's hard to tell for certain, but if you are going to use a third party USB AC Charger, I would check for different reviews online for whether or not they are compatible with your iPod. Just double check for input and output voltages it works with and compare it to those that your iPod Nano can handle.

Permanent vertical lines have appeared on my display, and connecting to another display (monitor) requires a cable and adapter. I want to be sure I am purchasing the correct cable for the Apple adapter.

Well, after many attempts to repair the drive, which fails, cannot even reach the log in screen, I am left with no other choice?

And temporarily, it freezes the computer totally, with no response.
Seriously, am I missing a system file or something? Anyone experienced this problem before?
My computer is literally a blank computer right now, installed VLC and Shades, updated Adobe Flash Player, installed Skype and Adium. I would say Growl from Adium caused it, but it has happened prior to Skype and Adium. Any ideas anyone?

Brand New Macbook Freezing / Faulty Adapter

Hopefully someone out there can help me..
I was given my Macbook Pro as a gift from the parents back in October last year. I remember it freezing on the first or second day of having it, but anyway.. since then it has been fine, until now!
About a month ago, I had my Macbook on the bed & I actually dropped it onto the floor [it worked fine] however, the magsafe charger has been faulty since. I have to wiggle it about to get the light to stay green/orange & sometimes it flickers faintly & the icon switches from charging to just normal on screen. Can someone tell me if I can get a new charger from the Apple store? I have the standard 1yr Warranty.
The other problem, which ONLY occurred this last 2 weeks is that my Macbook will just freeze. No wheel, it will just show the cursor where I last had it & NOTHING will work. I have to hold down the power until it switches off. I send a report to Apple [whatever this means] and sometimes it'll just freeze again a few minutes after. It has even froze on the actual loading up screen [with the white apple/loading icon]. Most of the time my Macbook freezes, I don't even have ANYTHING open.. which I'm guessing is bad news! I used to play my Sims 3 game smoothly before, however, now it also freezes a couple of minutes into it - so I've given that up!
I keep sending these reports & when I restart my Mac, about 5 minutes of using it [IF I'm lucky not to have the thing freeze on me] I'll get the ''You need to restart your computer'' message - and this also, just freezes up my screen. I was sending an e-mail earlier & half way through writing it, it happened & I lost everything! There is NO overheating/unusual noises.. the only time my mac heats up is when I'm using Final Cut / Sims, but even then it doesn't heat up more than usual..
I'm getting annoyed now because I have 2 x 3500 word essays to write & it is very annoying having to autosave every 2 minutes! Help!!

Your Mac should never freeze. There could be any number of causes, and the drop could be a factor. Unfortunately, the 1 year warranty does not cover accidental damage, although you may have homeowner's or renter's that does.
Since the freezing was present before the drop, it could be hardware or software related. A good place to start might be with the Apple Hardware Test, which is located on one of the gray system discs that originally came with the computer. Run the extended version if you can.
If the AHT runs to completion, see if it gives you any error codes that would indicate a hardware problem. If you get any, call Apple and tell them. Error codes indicate a hardware problem which Apple hopefully will be able to fix under your 1 year warranty.
If you cannot even run the AHT because your Mac freezes, then that in itself indicates some sort of a hardware problem, and again, you will need to call Apple about it and see if you can arrange for repair.
It's possible that the freezing and the kernel panic message you received may relate to your RAM not being well seated, so you might want to try reseating it. Instructions will be in your owners manual.

If none of this has helped, you might want to try reinstalling the OS.
As for the MagSafe adaptor, you want to try a different one just to be sure the damage is to the adaptor and not to the port in the computer. Here is a link for troubleshooting these:

Do you have access to an Apple Store? If so, it might be quickest to make an appointment at the genius bar and get them to help you with this. They have a hardware test they can run from the store feed, and they would know what to check.

Are you trying to put the file on FTP location ? From the error it seems that your FTP user ID is not having access to place the file in the FTP directory.
Have you tried placing the file from any other FTP client like WinSCP and verified that the FTP user has access to place the file ?

Thunderbolt to Firewire Adapter & New Network Interface Message

I am using the new Thunderbolt to Firewire Adapter. Why is it that every time I use it, I get the following message:
"A new network interface has been detected. The Thunderbolt FireWire Slot 2 network interface has not been set up. To set up this interface, use network preferences."
All I want to do is mount external hard drives that don't have Thunderbolt ports to my iMac, via Thunderbolt because I am using the iMac's single Firewire port for something else. The drives do successfully mount, but why do I keep getting this message whenever I connect them again?

I have no doubt what you say to do would get rid of the message for me. However, both myself and an Apple Store employee think it is odd that the message comes up in the first place. We're both curious about it, and he's going to look into it.
We tested it on a computer at the store, and found that it happens on Lion too.

IPad 3 and older digital av adapter. It works, but is there reason to get the newer model?

I have an iPad 3. I also have an older model digital av adapter. It's model MC953ZM/A. Although its older it still works fine with my iPad 3 even though it says it's not supported when I plug it in. Is there any benefit to purchasing the newer model digital av adapter?

Other than not getting that message, or having Apple perhaps not support it should you call or visit them asking for assistance (I don't know if they'd just tell you to get the newer adapter, but it's possible), no, there's no reason I know of to buy the newer version of the adapter.

Configure Universal Adapter 2 generate New BAW Tables or use Existings OBAW

Hi Experts,
i have a doubt on if New OBAW tables have to be created as we add new subject areas from Universal Adapter Containers
or can use existing OBAW tables that are generated from Other containers.
For Example:
Our Existing contianer is PeopleSoft 9.0 and OBAW Tables are created usign Peoplesoft Container.
of all the subject areas from Peoplesoft Containers, Only Workforce Profile and HR Payroll is used.
as the container is created using Peoplesoft 9.0, all the Tables (532 tABLES) are created for all the subject areas.
now, we are planning to use Universal Adapters to configure rest of the subject areas like Absence Managementr and Recruitment because they are maintained by Third Party Vendors which have no relation with Peoplesoft.
my doubt is,
1. if i can use the same Existing OBAW Tables for Universal Adapters or create NEW OBAW tables using Universal Adapter container.
2. if ii have to create New tables using Universal Adapter containers, all the table belonging to other Universal Adapters Subject areas like Loyalty Analytics, call center analytics are also created by default. how to avaoid this. i tried to create OBAW by creating a container with Only HR-Absence Management subject area and Recruitment subject area, unfortunatley, all the tables are again created.
3. it looks like there are common dimension files used for this Universal Subject areas, is it Mandory to use them to Populate HR-Absence Managment subject area.
Please HELP
Is there is a good refernce guides on how to configure all this espically with Universal adapters in Out side world or in Metalink

Thinkpad T-60 New Adapter, No Power

Hello folks This laptop was working perfectly until one day when my AC cord wasn't in the best shape (it was a frayed at the plug in point. Dog chewed it.) I plugged it in and it sparked, after that it lost the ability to charge the battery. Still running on battery power it worked perfectly. So I ordered a new IBM AC power adapter just like the factory one, no satisfaction, tested adapter with TVM and all was good with adapter. Tried ATX Reset, no joy. So the laptop works perfectly with battery power it just doesnt charge! Can anyone help me??

you probably caused an electrical short in the power plug of the laptop. Hopefully you would just need to change the power plug and it will fix the problem. Otherwise you are looking at a new motherboard.
You maybe able to power the laptop through AC using a port replicator, advanced mini dock, etc, which can provide ac power through the dock connector.

Adaptive charging in "new" macbook air?

Hi,
I've seen many peoples wondering about the new macbook air's battery.
But didn't clear me up.
So I'm still wondering about the adaptive charging used in the macbook pro's.
Does the new macbook air have adaptive charging or not?
and if so, are they functioning as the macbook pro?
Because in one of those topics someone asked the same stuff, and the answer was: "type=yes, Size=no"
So the new macbook air series are will adaptive charging chip, but are they functioning with 1000 charging cycles?
I'd understand that the mba won't last for 7 hours or anything like that as the macbook pro, because its not a battery with the same quantity cells, cuz the mba uses a lil bit smaller battery.
Anyways, I just want to know if the new macbook air series are built-in with adaptive charging, and if they are functioning.

I cannot be absolutely sure - except that when the latest revision of the MBA was released - Apple never announced that feature in the battery - and - they really made a big deal of it last fall when they released them with the MBP.
So - I think they didn't mention it because that technology is NOT in the MBA.
If it was they would flaunt it to sell more MBA's.
