New W520 touch pad already peeling off

Hopefully someone will be kind enough to help me out. I've already contacted Lenovo tech support twice, and been told 2 different things.
I ordered my Thinkpad W520 directly from Lenovo Canada. It's a great machine, except that the mousepad/touchpad started peeling off straight from the box. Tech support said I have to take it to someone local to get it fixed, even though it's obviously still under warranty. I phoned again today, and now they said I have to ship the whole thing back to them, and they'll give me a replacement computer. Why would I need to send it back?! Couldn't they just mail me a new touchpad...sticker? They could just send it in an envelope!

My W520 came with one of those damage protection pieces of transparent plastic film over the touchpad. It is supposed to be removed. Otherwise, the pad insert... the bumpy /mottled rectangle, is a piece of plastic which is thick enough so it will not peel or curl or warp.
Perhaps I am misunderstanding the post, but I don't see how the touchpad can peel.

  • New iPod touch blinking on and off repeatedly

I just bought a new ipod touch today, and once I plugged it in to my computer, it showed the apple logo, but then the screen went haywire by blinking on and off. When it's blinking on and off, the screen looks frozen.
I've hardly touched it, what do i do? Someone please help. (please spare me any sarcasm)

Actually, after I got the iPod Touch replaced, it had the same exact problem, which I suspect that I'm just very unlucky because my computer is relatively new. I've been trying to figure this out for weeks.
I did take my iPod back to the store where the associate talked down to me and kind of made me feel stupid (on their computers, nothing is wrong..but at my house, it's pretty much cursed) ..so yet again, I am trying to get the iPod replaced and figure out what is wrong.
I also tried calling, addressing two problems (one of which is irrelevant). They pretty much gave no answer for this question. They told me to restart it, but as I said, no button works after it shuts off.

Sorry,  the newer panels aren't backward compatable with the current generation of machines.
You could simply buy a new Thinkpad !!

  • W520 - touch pad left click issue

Earlier today my left touch pad mouse click started to stop functioning correctly. It will only work correctly every 8 to 15 times it is clicked leaving it unresponsive and unpredictable. The right works perfectly fine as do the trackpad buttons. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and have sprayed compressed air under the key.
I had a similar problem with the laptop when i first got it but at that time the touch pad itself as well as the left click did not function properly. The face plate was replaced which fixed the issue.
Is there anything i can do software wise that might fix the problem before i have to pay to fix the hardware?

    Hi Tony
If the unit is not the old one you should contact your local dealer or maybe Toshiba service partner in your country. Your unit has a valid warranty and you can ask them if there is a possibility to do something about that.

  • Brand New Ipod Touch and already issues

Alright, before I begin, I'm running 32bit Windows Vista Home Premium on an AMD Dual Core 1.9ghz processor with 2gb ram, as well I've had an iPod Nano before getting this iPod Touch without any problems before hand.
I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled with a clean download from the apple website of iTunes (To ensure new drivers, etc), I plug in my iPod Touch to let it charge and to connect to start transferring music. I start up iTunes, plug my iPod Touch, first thing I see on the screen of my iPod is an error from what I've researched before writing this post. A USB cord with an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo.
First thing I do, I've already uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, restarted my computer, and ensured that iTunes was up to date. Check, check, and check.
I had also noticed while my iPod was plugged in, was that whenever I would try to connect it to iTunes, I would be presented with was : "This iPod cannot be used because the Apple mobile device service is not started."
Thought to myself, that's odd. I went to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services, located "Apple Mobile Device", and next to it was blank. No "Started", no "Stopped", nothing, just blank. I right clicked on the service and went to properties to check and see if it was set to start up, it was set to Automatic. I switch to Manual, tried to start it again but presented with "The Apple Mobile Device service started then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs", Switched it back to Automatic, same issue.
Take into consideration, I have my avast! antivirus down. So I have no issues with antivirus/firewall going on right now.
I have checked my drivers for the iPod under Device Manager, Apple Mobile Device has shown up and has been installed correctly, including "USBAAPL.SYS", was showing no problems installing.
I sincerely do not know what to do beyond this point. I figure something is wrong with the Service, either that or iTunes is royally screwing something up. The error on the iPod I know means that it needs to restore itself with the help from iTunes, but iTunes is neglecting its presence (To my knowledge)

not sure, but i think bonjour also has to be running. check it out.
ah, under the startup type, are u saying that field is blank, rather than "manual", "automatic", "automatic (delayed start)" or "disabled"??

  • HP ProBook 4530s mouse touch pad

I have disabled mouse touch pad. Having restarted laptop I noticed that LED indicator for mouse touch pad was turned off and mouse pointer accepts finger moves/clicks on touch pad (it was enabled) until I logged on when LED turned on and mouse touch pad was disabled . Is this normal behaviour? The same is happening when laptop is powered on.

  • Power Button Peeling Off?

Has anyone else had their silver power button in the top right hand corner peeling off? I remember this transparent layer starting to peel a few months into having my PB in '03 but I never bothered to have it checked/replaced. Plus I believe Apple doesn't deal with cosmetics. Just wondering if anyone else has had the sameproblem.

So it's just covering the metal portion, not the engraved power logo. I'm trying to determine if there is plastic over mine by feeling the surface. There does seem to be something there. So it sounds like yours is unfortunately peeling off. Is it sticky where the plastic has already peeled off? If it isn't, I would be tempted to just pull it off completely.
Honestly though, I have never heard of this before...

Please be sure touchpad is enabled properly. Use FN+F9 key combination and be sure touch pad is enabled properly.
    > I check already the setting and I set into default
I dont know what do you mean with default but if possible reinstall OS again and test touchpad functionality with clean preinstalled OS and factory settings.
How to do this you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

  • Using the touch pad on my new pavilion dv7-6b50ea

hi, can anyone tell me how the touch pad switches on and off,and if it is possible to scoll using the touch pad on my new pavilion dv7-6b50ea

Did you try '''Ctrl'''+'''0''' (zero) to reset the zoom.
You did that with by holding the control key and scrolling on the right edit of the pad, which is equivalent to Ctrl+scrollwheel on the mouse.
Ctrl+0 to restore zoom to normal (Ctrl+- zooms out, Ctrl++ zooms in )
The problem with the Zoom toolbar buttons (+ and -) builtin to Firefox 4 is that there is no way to zoom directly to normal (100%) nor even tell what zoom level you are at.
For more control over zooming things see these [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox.htm#zoom zoom links]
To set the zoom permanently on a per site basis, try the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/ NoSquint] extension, which optionally remembers on a per site basis.

Yes, you have to update the iPod in order to retore from backup. The iOS on the "new" has to be aequal to r greater than on the iPod from which the backup was made.  The iOS downloads are unique to an iDevice and model (the one for a 3G iPod will not work for a 4G iPod).

    Not Charge

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • On/off button not working on brand new iPod touch 5th gen

My daughter has just unboxed a brand new iPod touch 5th gen that arrived today.
It wouldn't turn on so I assumed the battery was flat which I thought was odd but I plugged it in and it came on - 90% + battery.
The on/off button does not do anything. We've pressed it, held it - nothing. If I press the on/off and the home button together, Siri starts.
It will only switch off after a minute has elapsed. We can't do it manually.
    What's going on? Any ideas?

If you have an Apple store nearby I would make an appointment at their Genius Bar.
