New Widget problem

I had some problems with widgets a few days ago which were fixed by emptying the cache, and deleting widget preferences etc..
Earlier today, after a couple of self-induced problems, pressing F12 gave me a darker screen but no widgets. The bar at the bottom was visible when I pressed the Dashboard X; and I was able to use the Manage Widgets tool. All my widgets were listed but I could do nothing with them. Pressing any widget in the bar at the bottom closed Dashboard.
After a while trying all manner of cleanup and repair procedures, gave up and used Archive and Install to put a system back on. All is fine, no data is lost, and we have all applications.
Any suggestions as to what may have occurred. Problem over for me, but are we going to see this again?

Since upgrading to 10.5.1 this has apparently been fixed. But not straight away. At first the widgets still didn't work. Then I logged onto my daughter's account to use widgets and on returning to my account my widgets were back up and running. I hope this was the result of a fix and not just 'one of these things'. I'm happy for now.

Problem with News widget embedded video

I have embedded a video in a news widget item and it plays but then if I move the cursor off the screen it stopped playing
and if the cursor happens to scroll over another news event even though I haven't clicked on another event.

Hello Bertine,
Could you please check if you are using Event as On click or on rollover in the widget properties?
You can check it by clicking on the white arrow in Blue circle which comes up at the top right of the Widget when it is selected.
The Event option should be selected as On Click if you want the other triggers to get active when clicked and not when roll overed.

[solved]kdemod 4.3.4: news widget opens kate instead of browser

Hi,
i'm having a persistent problem with the news widget under kdemod 4.3.4.
Whenever I click on one of the news feeds it launches kate and I see the html source code.
How can I change this behavior that the browser will be launched instead?
The browser is already set as standard application for html files.

Thanks for this.. I already checked that but now I stumbled over a strange behavior:
Kate was on top of the list of associated applications. Moving a browser on top was possible, but after pressing 'apply' kate was on top of the list again. Must be some kind of bug..
Anyway, I removed kate from the list and now everything is alright. even kate is in the list again, but on a lower position...

Can't add new Widgets to Dashboard on main user account

I recently switched to a new MacBook Air and after the initial intstallation used migration assistent to move my old data to the MacBook Air. All works fine except the Dashboard. With the old useraccount (which is my main account) I can't add new widgets to the dashboard. When I download and install a new widget I can see it in the /user/library/widgets section, I can see it in the widget list in the dashboard but when I click on it or drag it up to the dashboard it closes the dashboard again.
I tried adding a new user and in works fine in that new account.
Here's what I did to try and solve it sofar:
1. Repaired permissions
2. Deleted the two .plist's in user/library/preferences
3. Deleted the Cache in user/library/cache
4. Checked the folder permissions in /user/library/widget and compared that with the newuser/library/widget
5. Downloaded the 10.6.6. combo update and reinstalled
This behaviour is with every new widget I tried to install.
I tried to find similar behaviour using google but so far no luck. Any suggestions?

You have hosed preferences in the main user account. Create a new admin user account, log into it, backup the bad account's folder, delete the bad account, selecting the save data option, recreate the bad account using the same username/password combo, log out and back into the recreated original account. If the problem's solved, open the saved data dmg file in /Users/Deleted Users/, open the /Library/Preferences/ folder from the saved data, open the current /Users/restored account/Library/Preferences/ folder, and slowly copy plist files from the saved data folder to the current one that don't exist in it. Log out and back in to ensure there's no conflict and things still work correctly. Resolving conflicts or identifying corrupt plist files is a laborious process. Good luck.

When trying to download a new widget from dashboard it will take me to download upgrades. my computer is up to date.

cann't download new widgets to dashboard. screen will take me to downloads,but for safari or itunes

I think this is a problem with the website - not your fault. Give it a day or two and see if it clears up.

What version of Indesign?
What OS? "Rights" sounds like Windows
What is happening when starting it?
If Windows, where was it installed?
If Windows, do you have admin permissions?

The New Widget Gallery

I found eight broken links on the new Widget Gallery display page.
If you'd like me to list them I can, but first I'm more concerned (for all parties involved) about the link to
author Christoper Whatson. Multiple times the link had numerous redirects to multiple pages, including porn. Other times it works. May be my system so I'm running a full virus/malware/spyware scan right now but...
(finding the humor in it the url happens to be tripchrystallsyadayada..)
Also in SNL and Firefox the link to Adobe Muse Team ( http://[email protected]///[email protected]/ ) for Slideshow, Basic (Slideshow Widget) is giving me a phishing warning.
Google Chrome passes it thru with no warning to www.adobe.com
I realize that the new Gallery Widgets were just posted last night, so the team may still be tweaking, but this is the internet sooo..

Yeah, I clear my all my browsers caches every nano second when designing/changing/troubleshooting. So I guess it must have been a hickup.

If you have access to Service Market place , as part of Work Manger 6.0 ->documentation there is document with title "SAP-WM-6.0-EnhancementsGuide.pdf" which gives overview of how to do enhancement at Agentry/Java/SAP layer. Even though document is related to Work Manager but still relevant good for Inventory Manager. You will similar document available when new Inventory Manager product is released.

New year problem? - files 'deleted'

i open up an aw file - make changes - try to save - get a window that says file has been deleted - cannot save as either - and other funny garbled window mesages appear when i try and open other aw docs - evrything else is fine
seems like it could be some sort of new year thing -
any ideas what to do

It's unlikely that this is a "New Year's" issue. The most probable cause is a corrupted preferences file.

For future reference: Using the search feature can lead to a quick answer to many problems. For this one, a search, restricted to the AppleWorks forum, using "has been deleted" (without the quotes) brought up four posts on this topic, including a reference by Peggy to her User Contributed Tip, on the first page of results.

Embedded HTML form disappears from "Featured News Widget"

I am using the featured news widget for my tabs. I have a few forms that need to included. I've embedded the html from jotform (where I created the forms). I added it the widget. It works fine on the first rollover, but when you go off and then go back to it, the form disappears. Not sure how to fix this.

If you click on "vertical involvement", the form shows up. Then if you click on another tab and go back to "vertical involvement", the form disappears.

Nevermind. Fixed the issue. It was a jotform. Use the iframe code instead of embed.

Featured news widget and shifting site down on opening?

How do I get the featured news widget to drop down the entire site when open. Currently it stays in a closed state until triggered open. How do I get it so that when its open it moves everything below it down on the site. Currently it just opens and depending on the layer just goes right on top or underneath whatever content is there. Is this feature available or only for the accordion style widget?

Yes. The ability to push content down and back up based on whether the content is showing or hidden is only available for the Accordion Widget. The Composition Widgets always occupy as much space as is required to render all the triggers and targets (be it placed below or above other page content) and will show/hide based on user interaction without reflowing the neighboring content.

Adobe Muse "Featured News Widget"

When I use the "Featured News Widget" all my text boxes are the same size as my largest. I tried to resize the others but it won't let me. Is there a way?

I am having the same trouble with both the Accordian Panel and the Lightbox Display Composition.

The "Political" section is the shortest and contains way too much negative space at the bottom. Another example can be found in the "Sketchbook" section of the linked site above.
Any fixes for this?

New Widget - ObjectFindAndSelect.jsfl error

Hi, I just tried to create a new widget in Captivate and ran into the following error as soon as the new file opens in Flash CS5:
The Output windows shows up the following message although I have not even run the file...
The following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
At line 39 of file "/Users/me/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5/en_US/Configuration/Javascript/ObjectFindAndSelect.jsfl":
importPublishProfile: Argument number 1 is invalid.
Is the file ObjectFindAndSelect.jsfl corrupted?
