New wifi iPad too slow?

How to determine if faulty?

What makes you think it's slow? Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

    i need help

If you are using any bluetooth device whether its with your phone or laptop, it may be causing wifi interference which probably is causing your wifi to be slow. I suggest shutting off all bluetooth devices. Also, if your router is not up to date as in doesnt support wireless n or ac, you probably should consider a new router.

  • Transfer music from iPad to new iMac much too slow

I want to transfer my music and videos, but not my apps, from my 128 GB iPad Air to my new iMac/Mavericks.
I tried to do this by
Connecting the iPad to a USB port on the iMac
    Initiating "Transfer Purchases" from iTunes
Unfortunately, this is ridiculously slow, it would take hours I estimate. For one think I have about 40 gig of apps and that takes forever to transfer. I thought that iMac supported USB 3?
Is there some reasonably quick way to do this? I can't sit around for 8 hours with my iPad hooked up to my Mac, I need it.

There are a lot of complaints about this. The bottleneck seems to be the iPad Air.

  • Wifi is too slow

I recently bought iphone 5, 32 gb. Everything is going just fine except wifi speed. I am also using samsung galaxy s2. Wifi speed of iphone is drastically slow as compared to s2. I am not able to view trailors of movies as well as you tube. please help

    hey
luvlabs is right - at least in my case
I have a mac hard wired and get 10mb up and 1 mb down, as I should, so the router is fine for ethernet connected devices
my ipad is on 4.3.3 and thats fine using speedtest.net app, 10 and 1
my iphone is on 4.3.3 and is getting 0.24 up and 0.21 down - terrible
my wife's iphone is on 4.3.2 and is getting 9 and 1 - so no problem with my router with wifi either. haven't upgraded her yet.
I did what luvlabs suggested and reset my network settings, rebooted, and put the wifi settings back in again. I'm now getting 9 and 1 on my phone on 4.3.3
so mine is fixed. I'll upgrade my wifes and see if it breaks again. anyway, fix for me is:
    >2. Reset your network settings - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    >3. After your iPhone restarts, tap Settings > WiFi > Other and re-enter your network name, security, and network password.
using virgin media 10mb feed, and a netgear router B/G only. all tested done sunday morning at 8am ish, and used the speedtest.net app or website. Either London or Maidstone server.
    hope this helps!

  • Lenovo g505s wifi far too slow

I was wondering if i could get some help as i'm going out of my mind with this laptop. Ever since i bought it (over a year ago) i have been struggling with wifi. The inbuilt wifi is about as useful as a wet paper bag, it will disconnect periodically and barely get above 1mb download (i have a 100mb package). I figured i would try it with a USB dongle, but even with that i barely get above 4mb, i can load sites faster on my phone than i can on my laptop. Normally I would take it back and never touch a lenovo again, unfortunatley my waranty period has expired after being unable to use the laptop for nearly a year due to family troubles. With the release of Windows 10 and updates to the wifi I thought i'd give it another chance. Installed Win10 and all new drivers, and once again 1mb with laptop wifi, 4mb with usb dongle. So can anyone please help me with this god awful wifi before i tear my hear out and throw the laptop in the bin? Thanks. Frustrated Robeus.

No one? I'd sell the laptop but dont know who'd buy it with such a terrible internet. Would really like some help, dont want to have wasted £300.

  • TS1717 iTunes app on iPhone and iPad too slow to use since 5.1 update

The iTunes store app on my iPad and iPhone 4s take about a minute per instruction to load, which sadly makes purchases not possible to be carried out.

    HellO:
You are not talking to Apple here...these are user-to-user forums.  Perhaps if you described EXACTLY what has happened, someone would be able to help you.
Incidentally, the latest iOS release did not selectively trash your devices while llowing millions of others to work normally.

  • Wifi internet too slow vpn

i have vpn client software installed. When the client software is NOT running, my internet is "dial-up" slow. When vpn is enabled and i am connected, internet runs at normal speeds.
i find this is usually the opposite of what happens. this happens at all locations, not just my house. i am quick to blame the vpn client. but not sure how it could be affecting me if the program is quit. thanks for the help

thanks for the reply. im using VPN tracker 5 from equinux. I checked the processes app but nothing that would lead me to think it was looking for the vpn stuff.

  • Retina Macbook Pro wifi too slow at home, other devices are fine though

I bought Retina macbook Pro 15inch couple months ago.
The internet speed seems ok at school, but when at home it is too slow that I can't do anything at all.
But my other devices like iphone/ ipad works great and has fast internet.
So I upgraded internet service, from 15mb speed to 30,
    but it still is slow.
I turned off the bluetooth, and seemed like it help tiny bit with the speed but I can't have anything done with this speed.
Do I need to buy a new modem / router?
Thank you for the hlep in advance.

Hold down the Option key and click on the WiFi Icon on the menuBar.
This will reveal all sorts of information about your Network and what is around you.
Look for what channel your Router is on. See if any other Routers are trying to use the same channel.
Look for the transmit level, something like -75.
    Look for the transmit rate.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • IPad 3rd gen too slow

I'm still using my 3rd gen iPad wifi + cellular 64 GB, but less after buying my iPhone 6plus
That  being said, I really want to buy the ipad air 2, but it looks like my wife isn't going to approve this for a while to come...lol
the iPad is updated  with iOS 8.1 and all my apps are updated too. My poor tablet is just too slow, especially compared to my brand new  iPhone 6 plus.  Is there anything i can change to make it more responsive, other than rolling back 8.1, I want to keep 8.1 even though  I know it runs slower on older devices.
i would like help with safari settings to reduce lag, and are there other browsers for the iPad that are specifically designed to run fast on older devices?  I tried Chrome but it does not seem more responsive that safari.  Thanks

  • Browsing too slow on wifi on my iphone5

I've had my iphone 5 for a week now, signal strength from my home wifi is excellent but when i surf the web (safari and the other apps) its just too slow, mediocre to say the least! most of the time webpages dont ever open! funny thing is my old iphone and ipad 2 works just fine with my wifi? i have tried resetting settings but problem persists.

I second this... everything was working fine on my home wifi. I had a iphone 4 and a 3g running without issue. Then I upgraded my wife's 3g to a 4 and now the wifi is slower than cellular data. for a while i couldn't even get on my wifi, after manually setting the wifi settings i was able but alot of apps just hang.
    thoughts anyone?

  • Iwork documents loading too slow local wifi without internet

Our school has a few ssid for local wifi and I am using my ipad for mirroring with apple tv and my ssid has no internet connection. When I try to open any iwork document it is loading too slow. If I turn off wifi or if I connect internet, it is faster.

It is perfectly normal on wifi networks that have smart content filtering. School network, while not slow by itself, has special filtering programs that check your downloads for specific words, sites, images and slow down your connection by doing that.

  • Does dual-core iPad 2 mean the next update will make iPad 1 too slow?

Having rendered my old iPhone 3G useless by updating it to iOS4, I'm really wondering if one of the next few updates to iOS will render my iPad 1 too slow to use.
One of the most appealing things about the iPad is how quick and snappy it is to respond. If that slows down it will ruin the user experience.
Spending $499 on a new iPad every April is also not sustainable -- and will not happen.
I encourage Apple to make dam sure the iPad is not obsolete in the wake of two A5 processors on iPad 2.

"There is more RAM and developers will take advantage of that, but that will just make their apps run faster on the iPad 2, but not any slower on ours."
That will make existing apps run faster on iPad 2. But those apps get updated, become more complex to take advantage of the extra ram and cpu, and then you have an updated app that runs about half as fast as it used to before you just upgraded it.
I know, you can't stop progress. But geez, I finally bought a case for this one in December!
Also, FWIW, the iPhone 4 has 512MB ram whereas iPad1 has only 256. I'm betting in two months if you don't have 512MBs RAM on whatever device you're using, it's gonna be slower than you were used to.
I guess it makes sense... At this point speed is becoming irrelevant on PCs. They're all fast enough. So the speed race moves to the mobile market to keep us buying every year. My 1.6GHz Core2Duo Dell laptop is plenty fast and it's about 5 years old. Same with the 2Ghz Core2Duo iMac. Now, the dual-core G5 I'm typing this on is having major speed issues -- for the same reason I'm discussing the iPad. When my G5 came out we were on Adobe CS2. Now it's CS5, and I'm only on CS4 -- but it's designed for the latest greatest hardware. My computer's not any slower, but my Photoshop sure as heck is. And same with everything else that's been updated over the last 5 years. And I can't even run the latest Safari. Dam IT dept! Give me a new Mac!

  • HT4061 After latest software update(IOS 5.1.1), connectivity is too slow on Ipad

After I upgraded my iPhone 4 and iPad 2, network connectivity or connectivity as a whole is too slow. Almost all the Apps dies with time out. Is there a solution to this? This problem persists in wifi as well as 3G network.

3G is painfully slow since the 5.1.1 update for me too. Turning off wi-fi seems to help some, but it's still noticeably slower. I hope apple is working on a patch or I'll be trying to restore back to 5.1 which ran fine.
