New Window command always gives a window within a window
Whenever I do "New Window" in Firefox, I get a "window within a window" (the two X's at the upper right are on top of each other) and I get a "Firefox v" orange tab (which gives a two column menu).
I can't seem to get things to work the old way where the window looks like a regular window instead of a window inside a window.
I'm using Firefox 5 on Windows XP

You need to uncheck the setting which enables sites to resize windows. This option is accessible in the submenu by clicking the "Advanced" button in the Javascript menu shown in the image.

If you have a resore point, you can also return your system to a previous state when your computer was functioning fine.
If this issue doesn't exist in another user account, then it might be related with a corruped user profile, if so, try this link

When I try to go to a web site from another web site or from an email from a link, I am required to click on the "ALLOW" button every time. It seems like if I have already clicked on it that I have allowed it. It is very frustrating. If it can't be fixed, I will either go back to an older version of firefox or choose another browser

I am using Firefox 7.0.1 on Mac 10.7.2, my downloads window and my show all history window would not open. After trying everything, I had to remove all my firefox information from the computer and reinstall then make a new profile with the profile manager. That fixed it but when I re-installed download helper the problem occurred again. I repeated this to make sure it was download helper.
I located the problem and it is not Downloadhelper. When I open firefox on my second monitor (I use an imac and a second monitor for dual screen) I can no longer see my downloads window.

I looked at all of the options available to me and did not see where there is a link or anything saying "always on top." Is there such a thing somewhere and if so, where?
Well hells bells - I went to watch TV and came back and all is good. Is it magic? :) (Some days I just plain don't understand anything - I swear!)

When i open a new site it always opens up on the side in a narrow window
I used to click on a site and it would always open up in the full screen. Now when I open a new site it always opens up in a narrow window on the left, 1/5th the size of the full screen, and continues to maintain the previous site in the remainder of the screen (4/5ths). The only way I can create the new site on the full screen is by dragging it over to the 4/5ths screen and then x'g out the narrow one on the left. Why is this happening and how do I eliminate it so that each time I open a new site it will open on the full screen?
Thank you in advance.Are you using a bookmark? There is a little-known feature of bookmarks that can load them in Firefox's sidebar. This allows you to work with two pages side-by-side. To change that setting, right-click the bookmark > Properties, then uncheck the box for "Load this bookmark in the sidebar".
(You probably didn't set this yourself. If you use a link on a website to have the site add a bookmark to Firefox, due to restrictions on what sites can do, those will always be targeted toward the sidebar.)
If that's not it, have you noticed any pattern in when this happens? -
I have tried to set my homepage to a specific website. However, whenever I open a new Safari window, it always returns to the last page I was at before I closed Safari. Any ideas? I did this under Safari preferences, open new window to homepage...
Safari is opening using the resume feature. To disable that, quit Safari using Command+Option+Q or Hold Option when choosing the menu item Safari>Quit.

Not sure if that can be done but you can press the Expose key which will show all open windows. -

I've used shellex to disable context menu items.
I've rebooted a hundred times.
This is rediculous. Windows should only recognize ONE setting for this and that is the one in folder options. Anything else that affects it is a BUG!
I'm on build 7100 RC.

importing x64 keys to an x86 installation may not work. HKLM\WOW6432Node\Classes\Interface would have to be combined with (overwrite)
the standard location and then that be copied/imported to the x86 install. Even then, there might be some unanticipated problems.
It's good that you had a registry backup available in system restore. Although I like the inherent security and reliability in the Vista/Win7 system restore implementations, one thing that I miss was being able to pluck only the registry files from
a restore point; like I used to do with WinXP.

Also, that is too general. There is more nitty-gritty details that have to be verified, such as whether the issue is per-user,
or whether the "Explore" option is in bold and works properly when manually selected. In a lot of cases, that simply may not be in bold which means it's no longer the default action on double-click. (requires different set of steps to resolve,
focusing on another part of the registry) But from what you've stated on JAVA update 20, there well could be some changes to the HKLM portion of that Interface key... don't know. A before and after registry compare usually helps pin down the issue.

One other thing that occurs to me, is that the dreaded Yahoo toolbar often installs with Sun Microsystems's JAVA. I've removed such toolbars on many browsers because they render IE8 unstable/unreliable with occasional to routine freezes/crashes. -
My new browser windows are opening window within a window.
When I click on a link/button at a website that is coded to open in a new window, that window opens within another window There are two ribbons for minimizing/closing the window, and the back and forward buttons don't work. There are no tabs. When I click to open a new tab, that tab appears and the previous page forms a tab, but doesn't show a URL and when I drag it to the main window to combine tabs, it appears blank.
I used to be able to drag new windows into my main browser so I could have just one browser running at a time. Since I installed Firefox 5, I haven't been able to do that. They no longer open up with a tab I can drag.

Closing all folders and subfolders within a window with one command
In list view, is there a way to close all folders and subfolders within a window with one command, instead of having to close each individually?

Firefox 6 ,Hyperlink not opening when I select Open In New Tab, it always Open In New Windows.
I have just upgrade to Firefox 6 and I having problems opening Hyperlink when I select Open In New Tab, it always Open In New Windows. It will work when I open another copy of Firefox browser but not on my main browser. Any suggestions to fix this ?

I have set up a number of RSS feeds to open in folders underneath the search/address bar in Firefox. I use them mainly to follow news updates from newspaper websites etc. After installing FF4, the opening of links contained in those folders (lists of links) using right-click and selecting the Open in New Tab command stopped working. There is no response whatsoever - as if I didn't click the command.

Dual monitor - force new windows to always open on primary monitor?
I use my secondary monitor to watch streaming TV in internet browser windows. When I have finished watching streaming TV and the secondary monitor is switched off, Safari still opens new browser windows on the secondary monitor by default (presumably due to the fact that the last active browser window was open on the secondary monitor). This is irritating and means I have to switch the secondary monitor back on to drag the new browser window back to the primary display. The secondary monitor is connected by VGA.
This is a minor niggle, rather than a major issue, but it is irritating nevertheless! Does anyone know if there is a way to force new windows to always open on primary monitor, regardless of where the last active window was?

Run the client and get it set up the way you prefer, or Open your saved RDP file
On the Display tab, choose a non-fullscreen resolution.
On the General tab, click "delete these credentials", if possible.
Click Connect .
You will immediately get a local login dialog. Leave it blank and click
OK .
When you are connected and the remote login dialog appears, drag the window to the desired monitor.
On the remote login dialog, click Cancel . The settings dialog should reappear locally.
On the Display tab, you can now choose fullscreen.
You can now save your session with the Save button on the
General tab, as well as save your login credentials.
Try more times ,worked for me.
