New Window In Finder Not Holding Prefs

I used to be able to double click on my internal hard drive's icon and a new finder window would appear as I had last adjusted it . . . column view with each column fairly narrow (to show more columns). I've just noticed recently that I'm unable to do that. When I double click on the icon, I'm presented with a new finder window in icon view in the center of the screen. What's odd is if I get a new window with command-N, I'm presented with a window in column view (which is what I set the finder prefs for). I tried tossing my finder prefs, but that didn't help.

There are APPs that do it on Versiontraker.com & macupdate.com, or start the Terminal App and try this...
Show hidden files...
Open the terminal and type or copy/paste:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true
Reverting to the default of NOT showing hidden files:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool false
Trash them all & reboot, won't hurt anything.

MY new Ipod Nano does not hold a charge. I use it mostly as a watch, perhaps look at it 5 or 6 times in 8 hours, and leave it in sleep mode the rest of the time. I drains to the red line in less than 2 days. My husband's nano will last a week this way.

You are still under warranty if your iPod is "new." Take full advantage of it by either calling iPod tech support, Apple Care if you have it or take it in to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you.

Aloha, Go to Programms>Uninstall Itunes and AppleMobile Device service from your computer or laptop.
Then re install Itunes. When Itunes finishes downloading RESTART your computer and open Itunes, plug in your Iphone immediately with USB cable and Itunes will recognize it. Apple Mobile Device service is causing the problem. Hope this helps

Open Link in New Window, sometimes does not work???

The problem is in FF4b9 an 10 (the only ones I tested). The problem is that when I open a link in a new window sometimes it does not work. Well, I am presented with a new instance of the browser as expected but it seems like the parameter is not passed or something. Also, I have noticed something weird about the new instance. There is a button labeled Firefox in orange and another set of minimize, maximize, and close buttons. Here is a screenshot:

There is this pref: browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground
But it doesn't have effect if you open links via the Library, it only works when opened via the browser window (menu, toolbar, sidebar).

Finder-Not holding view settings in the Application Folder

Hi all
I wonder if any of you can help me.
I cannot get finder to hold my view settings in the Applications folder. I have tried all the view options and whenever I relaunch Finder or reboot the machine, it loses the view settings and goes back to 'arrange' and 'sort' by 'none' I have tried creating another user account and it does the same thing so it is
not user specific. I have tried deleting the .ds.store file in the Applications folder and this does not work. As a matter of interest, this has been an ongoing problem that I have noticed when setting up new Macbook Pros over the last two years or so.
All other folders hold their settings. Its just the Applications folder.
Any ideas folks?

I've had this issue in many folders. Very frustrating!

How to open a new window that's not a page

can you create a hyperlink, let's say from a photo of a person, that opens in a seperate window which is not another page?
if that's not possible, can you create the same hyperlink, and have it open as a new page, but not have the page listed as it's own button. meaning it is invisible unless you navigate from the page with the photo/hyperlink?

New window popup does not open on Windows

when I open an new window in a Premiere HTML5 extension on Mac, it works,
but no window opens on Windows.
newwindow = window.open('www.adobe.com','name','height=200,width=150');
Trying to apply moveTo() or focus() after open() returns Cannot call ... method of undefined.
I wonder what causes this, probably it just gets blocked. By Windows? Premiere on Windows? Chrome in the extension on Windows?
Is there something I can do about this?
I cannot open it in the default browser because ultimately the window popup is a Paypal popup
opened by a webpage loaded in an iframe- which gives the same result as trying to open a window directly from within the extension as described above,

This is a known issue of CEP; we disabled these methods (with window.open() or <a href=url >) to open a new page. A work around is using API CSInterface.openURLInDefaultBrowser(url) to open it in system default browser. I am afraid that CEP does not provide other work around methods if openURLInDefaultBrowser() cannot suit your requirements.

Firefox does not want to open popup or when I do "file new window" it does not open it too.

When I click on a link that opens a popup, firefox does not open it. Same for "File> New Window." Then, often after Firefox starts to malfunction and no longer wants to open my bookmarks. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, removed all extensions .. But this does not solve my problem. can you help me please?

Your above posted troubleshooting list shows quite a few extensions.
Did you really disable all of them and still had the problem?

Which security software (firewall) do you have?
Some can block pop-ups as well.

New Windows 8 computer not syncing most songs on older iPod.

I have a new Windows 8 computer and an older iPod. I can now only sync songs that were NOT already on iCloud, even though all my 8000 songs are in files on my C drive and backed-up on an external drive. The weird thing is that few files that do sync are the only ones that are also visible on Home Sharing.

It sounds like you can press the sync button in iTunes but no music transfers over to your iPod classic. I found an article that should help with transferring music to your iPod classic.

You might need to go to the Music tab seen here and check the "Sync Music" box and then select the data that you would like to sync.

I would like to be able to open a new Window everytime and not a tab.

Hello and thanks if you can help. I'm using 3.5 only because of the way latter versions place the new tab first under FILE, While in the older versions place it as your first choice. It's hard for some people to change, I one.
I never open tabs I only open windows.... SO the question is if I upgrade and would really would like to is there a way that I can customize my choices as to all ways open a new window and never a tab.

In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
What is the Modified date?
