I recently had to get a new windows computer, old one crashed. My tech guy got all my itunes library over to the new one, and all my songs are there. However, some won't play and ask me for the password for the apple id they were purchased under. 2 of these ids are obsolete and I have no access to those accts. The songs all played on my old computer without prompting me for a password.
Any ideas how I can get around this hassle and get them all to play? We're talking about 800 songs that are being obstinate. The new computer is authorized under my "new" Apple id, which I have used for years.

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies currently available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list, or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

    What instructions?

You don't import photos from the iPhone to your computer using iTunes.
See this -> iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Note this only applies to photos taken with the iPhone. Any photos you previously added to your iPhone using iTunes should be copied from old computer to new computer.

  • HT5085 purchased music on new windows computer

cannot find pervious purchased music on new windows computer.  Logged in, purchased, all albums    ---   nothing

You are looking in the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage, and do the artists that you've bought music from show on the left-hand side of that screen ?  If you've changed countries since buying the music, or if the rights-holder has removed the music from the store, then you won't be able to redownload it - it also won't show if it's hidden : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases.
Or if you go into the Store tab in Edit > Preferences  and click on 'show iTunes in the Cloud purchases' do they then show in the Music part of your iTunes library with a cloud icon against them for redownloading ?

Does this mean I will lose the music from my ipod forever?
Yes, that is exactly what it means.
The right way to do it is to first rebuild your library on the new computer, and then sync the iPod.
You can rebuild your library by copying the library from the old computer or from your backup.
If neither of those options is available, you can extract the songs from the iPod, although the process is a bit hairy.  See this guide for the procedure, written by Forum member Steve/turingtest2.

    That's Adobe for you!
No matter how much we request, beg and/or complain, nothing is done about the miserably small interface.
We're still left with the three inadequate choices in preferences:
Other than that, you can change your monitor's resolution.

    Hello hallefrompa,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The following article provides an answer to your question:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202
iPod shuffle and iPhone are intended for use with a single computer. You cannot load music from multiple computers or iTunes libraries onto iPod shuffle and iPhone like you can with other devices.
You'll need to setup your iPod to sync to this new iTunes library:

  • I got a new windows computer and I can't transfer all of my music to it from my old computer. I have some music on my phone but not all of it so when I plug it in only some of my music shows up and none of my playlists.

I got a new Lenovo Windows computer and I'm trying to transfer my iTunes library to my new computer. I can't figure out how. I tried plugging in my iPhone and it synched what music was on my phone but I don't have my entire library on my phone and none of my playlists transferred. I tried authorizing my computer and it is but it still isn't showing up. I turned on my homesharing on my new and old computer but apparently I have two other computers I have authorized and I don't know which ones they are, probably ones that have been thrown out. What do I do now?

iDevices are not and have never been backup devices.
Authorizing a computer does not cause media to magically appear.
Media is only where the user puts it.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

  • How to move all music files and pictures from Ipod nano to a new Windows computer that was not backed up on an external harddrive, only found on my ipod.

My windows lap top was recently destroyed to the point of no recovery.
All of my music and picture files are still located on my ipod and I plan on getting a new windows laptop
Is there anyway that I can transfer my (unpurchased) music files and pictures from my ipod nano to my new computer?
The pictures are more important that the music, so if only one is possible, I would prefer that
I appreciate any ones helpful comments

Copy the iTunes library from your backup as below:
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
    Sync with the restored library.

  • Migrate iPhone (iTunes) to new Windows computer

I apologize for asking a question that seems likely to have been answered multiple times, but the answers I found either seemed to be missing pieces for my scenario or in some cases to contradict (very likely my misunderstanding).
I need to set up itunes on a new (Windows XP) computer for one of my users and set it to sync with their iphone, without losing any data, migrating all settings, all minimizing my need to know what they might or might not have done with their iPhone to date, and preferably without knowing their iTunes account information (though I can get that if I need it).
I do not need to be concerned about syncing contact and calendar information - these phones sync with Exchange/Outlook and I'll deal with that part later.
    1. I will of course first install itunes on the new computer (set it not to auto-sync) and then use itunes on the old computer to back up the phone.
    2. Next I think I should copy the itunes library to the new computer, just replacing the directory structure on the new computer with the copy from the old (same OS on both computers). (Or do I not need to do that if I have a backup?)
    3. Then assuming the user may have purchased content from the store I believe I will need to authorize this computer in the Store, is that correct? Will I need the user's account information to do that?
    4. Should I next copy my backup into the correct location for backups on this computer and restore from backup so that settings are restored? Or since I have this backup, do I need to do all the above steps or are some of them unnecessary? (If it may not always be necessary, but might sometimes be necessary depending what they've done, and assuming it can't hurt either way, then I should just do it - I'm not worried about doing extra steps, I'm worried about losing data.)
    5. And now do I need to do a sync? (I would have thought the restore from backup would have taken care of that, but I saw instruction somewhere to do that after restoring from backup.)
Do I have the right steps, in the right order, and will that take care of everything or have I missed something? (As noted, I will take care of setting up the exchange account syncing after everything else is done - that's something I've done many times.)

    Thanks!
Reporting back, I tried it and discovered that it really is as simple as copying the iTunes library to the new computer (at least in my case it was) - I did that, synced the phone on the new computer, and all was well. (I've heard so many horror stories that I really expected trouble, but had none at all.)

  • I have updated to a new windows computer, and after transfering itunes library via iphone, the app section of itunes is locked and I cannot access it. How can I fix this?

I have updated to a new windows 7 computer, and after transfering my itunes library via iphone, itunes has locked me out of the app section of my phone. I can not add or remove apps using itunes. Is there a way to fix this? I have authorized, deauthorized, restarted, rebooted, and reset both my computer and iphone. Anyone got any ideas?? Thank you!

The safest way to do this would be to copy your itunes library to an external drive. For the purposes of this excersize the new Laptop would be the external drive
    Here is the support article

Then you could erase the iPhone and resync it without losing any content.
If this option is not open to you then this article contains ways to get your content off your iPod

  • Moving Photoshop CS 5 to a new windows computer

I have a new 64 bit Windows computer.  I need to 'copy' my current version of Photoshop CS5 from my 32 bit Windows computer to my new system.  How do I do this.  My copy of Photoshop CS5 was an upgrade from CS4 and I do not have a disk.  I also have Photoshop CS5 installed on my 64 bit laptop and I don't want to remove that copy.
I understand that I must de-activate the 32 bit version but I'm not sure how to do that?
    Thank you,
    J.

You can't "copy" a Photoshop installation.  It will never work properly.  It must be installed on the new system.
Just download the (large) Photoshop installer package directly from Adobe.com, or copy it from your other computer.  All you'll need is a valid, legitimate serial number, and a valid serial number from CS4 as well as it was an upgrade (you've been through the process before).
I advise you burn a disc of your own containing the installer at some point, because it won't continue to be available from Adobe.com forever.
In order to have the maximum of two activations, you'll need to deactivate the copy on your 32 bit system.  To do that, just open the app on your 32 bit system and choose Help - Deactivate.  Follow the prompts.
Once you've got Photoshop installed on the new system, remember to go through its updates.  The installer Adobe provides still is at the 12.0.0 level I believe.
I'm not sure whether you're asking about "copying" any of your settings or stored files (e.g., Camera Raw developing settings for various raw files) from your old system.

  • Need to switch my iTunes account to a new Windows computer (with other issues)

I am trying to switch my iTunes account over to my Windows laptop. My old Windows computer is completely dead at the moment but I am trying to find someone to recover the data. All I have at this point is my ipod with the music on it, but I'm afraid that if I plug it into my laptop, it will delete the music from my account. Also, I need to figure out how to change the iTunes user on my laptop. My husband got an account which he never used, so I just need to log out and log on with my account that has the music synced the the ipod, but I couldn't find a way to do that. Any suggestions?
