New windows no toolbar?!?

So my kids did something on my computer..... Or at least that is who I'm blaming at the moment....
All new windows open with no toolbar....
How do I fix this?
I know I can always go to view->show toolbar.
But this becomes annoying throughout the day.
Is there not a way for the toolbar to be there always?
This is the way it was before the kids had their way....
Thanks in advance

Carolyn Samit, unfortunately that didn't work. In fact, now sometimes Safari starts up with a window with no toolbar (even though I make a point of choosing "show toolbar" on the last window before I close Safari out.)
This can't be that difficult, but for some reason nothing seems to be working. It's agravating me more and more to have to always choose "show toolbar" about 50-75% of the time I open a new window.

  • After CTRL+N for new window, bookmarks toolbar disappears on the new window

    When I already have a fully, correctly functioning window with tabs running, with the Bookmarks Toolbar visible, and then I use CTRL+N to open a new window, the 2nd window does not show the Bookmarks Toolbar.
    When I go to View > ToolBars, the Bookmarks Toolbar show a check. It is not there in the new window, but it in the first window. Seems like a glitch caused by CTRL+N?
    This is repeatable, and has happened many times. I have 12.0 but this happened with other Firefox versions as well.

    hello, can you replicate the same behaviour when you're running firefox in safe mode? it might be one of the addons interfering...

  • New Window - No Toolbars

    Thanks to everyone who's been so helpful on this board, especially try67, who seems to be a pervasive source of wisdom on all things Acrobat scripting related.
    I have scripted the addition of a button to the Acrobat toolbar which, when pressed, copies the active document to a network location. It then opens a second PDF, which will ultimately be a form that accepts user input by way of radio buttons, drop downs, text fields and other standard UI elements. This form, when submitted, will create a JDF file (essentially a text-based XML file) to the same location as the PDF, and will then close.
    (For those interested, I am automating hot folder submissions of PDFs for preflight, color processing and RIPing to a fleet of large format color inkjets and small format color lasers. The JDF file is being created for cost accounting and inventory management, and to control output options. The PDF and JDF are picked up by PowerSwitch, sent to an instance of Pitstop Server and Alwan CMYK Optimizer, and then to a Fiery XF RIP for the inkjets, and standalone Fiery's for the small format lasers.)
    What I'm wondering is, what is the best way to open this PDF form in a new window, with no toolbar, menubar, or window controls?
    A few notes:
    I have configured the PDF form document to open without window controls manually by setting "Hide window controls" in the Document Properties > Initial View settings. This works.
    I have also enabled "Hide menu bar" in the Document Properties > Initial View settings, but this does not work. The menu bar is still displayed.
    I have not enabled "Hide tool bars" in part because Acrobat will not allow for all three options to be selected, apparently for security reasons. That said, even if I do select it (by disabling one of the other settings), the toolbar is still displayed, I believe because my script is adding a custom button to it, which causes for it to be visible again.
    I am a little hesitant to use the Initial View settings to accomplish all of this. Is there some way to write a script that would live on the document that would hide the menu bar, tool bars and window controls?
    Any thoughts are appreciated.
    Matt

    This is probably a silly question, but do you have Flash
    Player installed?? =)
    well i dont know why you can't view the link.. but anyway..
    im quite hopless with javascript, and i have been searching
    the net for a code that MAKES a browser window ALWAYS open without
    toolbars.
    I found plent of codes that make it open FROM A LINK.. but
    none that simply force the browser to open without the toolbars..
    do you know a code that will force a browser to always open
    without toolbars? If not, do you know any other sites that deal
    with JavaScript?
    I have been at:
    dynamicdrive.com
    javascript.com
    javascriptkit.com
    kirupa.com
    and afew others i cant remember, including afew forums too.
    i can't believe this is so hard to find.. =(

  • Since I installed Firefox 5.0, when I open a new window my toolbars are not there. I also cannot open links in a new window.

    With the old version, if I opened a new window, my homepage opened and all my toolbars were there. I don't want to have to open my toolbars every time I open a new window. Sometimes they won't open at all.

    Hi tomab,
    By default Firefox opens a blank tab when you hit the tab button. The fact that is shows an actual page leads me to believe that you have an add-on or something else causing your issue. I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Post to servlet in new window

    Here's the problem. I know how to post to a servlet and create a new window:
    action="servlet" target="_blank"
    ....and I know how to create a new window without toolbars:
    javascript:window.open("servlet", "servletPage", "toolbars=0")
    However I can't seem to do both. I need to send a post to a servlet that shows up in a new window without toolbars. Just calling a javascript function simply opens up a new window of the initial page without triggering the servlet. Any ideas?

    Open the new window and then do the post with the target being the new window.
    <form name=MyForm action="servlet" target="servletPage">
    <input type=button name=subButton value=Submit onClick="doSubmit();">
    </form>
    <script language=JavaScript>
    function doSubmit() {
             javascript:window.open("", "servletPage", "toolbars=0");
             document.MyForm.submit();}
    </script>

  • How to open a new browser window without toolbar, location, and menu bars from AIR?

    I have the following problem in my Flex+AIR application. I need to embed an ActiveX component that has JavaScript API inside my application. I tried to embed it inside <mx:HTML> component but unfortunately, AIR doesnot support plug-ins or ActiveX controls. So I've decided to open it in a new browser window. I tried navigateToURL(...) method but it has two problems - it is opening a new tab in the existing browser window and there is no way for me to configure the new browser window appearance, like removing toolbar, menu bar, location bar, etc. Then I tried to open a new window from JavaScript running inside <mx:HTML> component using window.open(...) API but it doesn't open a new window at all.
    Is there any way for me to open a new browser window without toolbar, location bar, etc. (which will run ActiveX control, so it cannot be AIR window) from inside AIR?
    Best regards,
    Arkady.

    Is it possible to open a new browser window using JSP?a JSP page is also an HTML page, this is client side stuff, you can do it with JavaScript.

    Since the update the first Firefox window I open refuses to open tabs, only new windows, and all refuse to show my bookmarks toolbar. All Sync settings and account seem lost.

  • In Firefox v4.0.1, custom toolbars disappear from the toolbar menu when I open a "New Window".

    1.
    I created a new toolbar in Customize... / Add New Toolbar. It's on the list of toolbars and opens up '''most times''' I start Firefox, but not ''always''. I have tested it and it is completely random.
    2.
    Same type of problem as 1., but '''''everytime''''' I use the 'New Window' feature the custom toolbar disappears from the toolbar menu and if I need to use it, I have to '''save all tabs as bookmark''' then close and reopen FireFox so I get my original window [where the toolbar shows up]. AARRRGHH.
    I've been using FF for 7 years now, so I know enough to rule out corrupted localstore.rdf, new or updated add-ons (I could be wrong though, as I often am...).
    Has this come up with other users? Am I being cursed? [lol] any help would be appreciated.

    cor-el,
    Sorry it took so long to get back to you.
    You know, you're right. I should try everything, no matter how smart I think I am!
    It's been 3 days since I deleted the localstore.rdf file and so far so good.
    Thanxs for the help

  • When I open a "New Window" or a "link" does so, my customized "add(ed) new toolbar" disappears. FF version up to date.

    I have used the reset preferences option. I had to recreate all items I previously had in the toolbars. And had to "Add a New toolbar" and add the items i had in that, also.
    I also used the fix for a corrupt local.rdf file. No joy. At first I did not know why I was losing my custom toolbar. But I started paying extra attention and found out how to recreate the problem. I f a link opened a new window it opened without the custom toolbar. If I closed that window before closing the original window the custom settings where maintained.
    If I opened a new window or selected a opened tab to open or duplicate in a new window the custom toolbar was gone. Again, if I closed the "new" window b4 I closed the original window all was good. But if I close the original window and the the new window the next time I open firefox the custom toolbar is gone. Righting clicking on a clear spot of a toolbar to open the "Customize Toolbar" dialog the name of my custom created toolbar is missing also.
    Firefox info from the "About" section says Firefox 18 Funnelcake Oct 2012 mozilla17-1.0
    I have never had this problem with FF before. I did not post asking for help until I could recreate the problem so that I could tell you when it happened.

    I did find the problem... It was the DivX Plugin for Firefox. I just found I wasn't using it. I went to Add/Remove Programs and uninstalled it. FYI I am running Windows 7.

  • How do I get Firefox to open in a new tab (instead of a new window) when I click on one of my buttons in my toolbar?

    When I click on one of my buttons in the toolbar, Firefox opens that button in a new window. I would like to be able to click on one of my buttons and Firefox open it in a new tab instead.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == When I attempt to click on a button

    Right click the FireFox button in your toolbar and look in the properties- middle tab...make sure that it only has "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" with no other link added to the end. I had a similar problem this morning and found a website had attached it's link to the end so it would always pop up first and would only open a new tab.
    Hope that fixed it.

    Windows automatically updated my computer a few days ago and now when I open a Firefox window my Bookmarks Toolbar does not automatically appear at the top of the window. • How can I create an icon for "New Tab" (not "new window") on the toolbar?

    I want to have an icon for New Tab on the toolbar. I cannot find such icon on the Customize option.
    Is this possible?
    BTW I tried to check options-->tabs-->open new windows in a new tab instead, but this does not help and when clicking the "new Window" icon on the toolbar, indeed a new window - and not a new tab - opens.
    Thanks.

    You can open the Customize window and drag the New Tab (+) button form the tab bar on another toolbar. It will become a regular New Tab toolbar button.
    Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
