New Windows User

I am using the same computer, but for company network reasons, my username has changed. Since making this change, I now cannot view or use any of my files in itunes. The files exist under my previous username folder (C:\Users\cnelson\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music) and I have attempted to change the location to the old folder - I have also copied all of my files to the new user location(C:\Users\nelc04\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music), but I still cannot see the files. What do I need to do to be able to access my files?

Hold shift while opening iTunes and find your iTunes library file from there.

  • Essbase client missing after creation of new windows user profile

I created a new windows user profile after an apparent corruption of my old one. However, when I open Excel, the Essbase client (add-in) is gone. Smartview is still there. The client doesn't show up after registering Essbase Add-In is executed. I can add the client by navigating to C:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\EssbaseClient\bin and selecting essxleqd.xla and essxcln.xll. The add-in then appears to be installed. However, when I try to connect to Essbase, the connection dialog box does not show up. I'm on version 11.1.1.3 and Excel 2007.
Is there a way to resolve this short of re-installing the client? Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    dave

I remember the Essbase add-in used to be a small executable of a few MB that was easy to install. It's my understanding that they went to the global installer where they include various product assemblies. The files needed to run the global installer for a simple add-in amount to close to about 4GB in size. Our VPN for remote users is very slow and takes forever to install. I see ther is still a small executable for the Smartview install. Is there a small executable for the Essbase add-in somewhere that I'm not aware of? I can reinstall if that's what it takes. I was hoping there might something a bit less time consuming.
    Thanks John.

  • URL iView - Open in new window - User Action Independent

    Hello Experts,
    What has been configured:
I have built an I URL iview and set its paramater to open in a new window. I have assigned the iview to a role. I have also assigned a quicklink to the iview
    Name: xyz
    quick link: xyz
    quick link url: https://<domain>/irj/portal/xyz
    What has been tested:
When I log in to the portal using the test user ID and click (user action) on xyz the destination URL pops up in a new window as expected.
When I access the iview via the quick link it loads the destination URL in the same portal window (no pop up)
    What do I need:
We will be using the quick link to get to SAP portal from another legacy portal and I want to hit the target URL as soon as I access the quick link without being taken to the portal page in which the target URL content is rendered. I also do not want to have the user click on the/a link to navigate to the target URL.
    Things as they stand:
The destination URL is hitting a standalone WD ABAP object which is not hosted in SAP portal content. The SAP portal has to be used because the logon ticket issued by the portal is also used to login to the server hosting the WD ABAP.
Please let me know if you think this is something that can be achieved.
    Many thanks,
    Prashanth

    Hi,
    2. It is not possible to hide it completely or disable it. Give this a try:
Create a Static HTML page and create a link in that which will take you to quick link page/iview.
or you can create a custom application which will call the application underlying the quicklink on click of a link.
    3.  For removing the History, Back and Forwards links in Page Title Bar, follow the below:
In Portal navigate to Content Administration - Portal Content - Content Provided by SAP - End User Content - Standard Portal Users - Open the Default Framework Page
With the Framework Page - you will find Page Title Bar iView - Open the iview and go to iView Property
Show Back/Forward Links and Show History List by default this setting is set to Yes. change teh setting to No and you will not be seeing those in the page title bar.
NOTE: If you make this change it is applicable to all other pages and iViews. So be cautious before making the change.
    Hope this helps.
    cheers-

  • New windows users cannot logon to system

We recently had a Network switch failure. As a result we had to reboot the server (G5 xserve 10.4.7).
This machine is a PDC to approx 50 Windows users. All users are in and working but new users are not being allowed to login.
Looking at the samba logs shows a lot of messages where there is a forcing election with other systems (windows).
    eg
Server NORTH_24 at IP 192.168.7.24 is announcing itself as a local master browser for workgroup NCS and we think we are master. Forcing election.
How can I stop this from happening and allow my new users to login??

I have changed the setting in /etc/smb.conf
    os level = 8
    to
    os level = 255
This is suppossed to make sure this system wins all elections.
I have made sure any Windows systems were off and reset the server.
However as soon as windows systems turn back on then I start getting the following in log.nmbd :

If I turn this particular machine off, the system will start complaining about another one.
This was not happening prior to a Network switch failure and a reboot of the server.
On a good point any new users that are created can now logon to the system. I am not sure though, if that is to do with the change to the smb.conf file

  • Want to move library to new Windows user account

My son had the first family ipod. I installed itunes in my account, not his, and it works fine. We have since added three more ipod users, all under their own window's accounts; they work fine. Well, now dad has an ipod, and I want my own itunes account/library under my user name. What is the simplest way to transfer my son's itunes account/library, currently under my window's account, to his own window's account?

  • AF Table-CommandLink and Open in New Window issue

I am using af:table to display the result set and inside the af:table i use af:commandLink to display the link to users. When the user clicks the individual link , user will go to the correponding detail page which is working fine.
But the problem is if i right click the commandLink from the browser and click "Open in New Window" in IE or "Open Link in New Window" . it opens a new window and displays the same page instead the detail page.
My requirement is when user click the link user should see the corresponding detail page - which is working fine now.
But when user clicks open in new window from browser in the new window user should see the corresponding detail page. How do i accomplilsh this scenario.
Any help would be highly apprciateable..

Hi Frank, thanks for the quick reply. But if u think of the end user, most of user always right click and click open in new browser to see the details. so that they can stay the results page. ..
Do you mean, any link navigation in ADF faces, dont work if we click "open in new window"?

  • Outlook clients unable to connect to Exchange / Windows user profile

    Exchange 2010
    Outlook 2010/2013
I've seen a dozen or so computers in the last few weeks with this problem. The user suddenly cannot connect to the Exchange server in Outlook. (Sorry, I don't have specific error messages for this part.)
If I try a repair on the Email account or try to create a new Mail profile, I get this error:
"The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."
I have verified all Exchange and mail security settings. Outlook configuration is not the problem.
    I tried deleting %appdata%\microsoft\outlook and %localappdata%\microsoft\outlook.
I tried a repair on Microsoft Office.
I tried creating a new Mail profile for a different email account.
The only thing that has fixed this problem is a completely new Windows user profile, which tells me there is something else broken in the user profile. Does anyone have any idea what it might be?

    Hi,
Please try to access Exchange via OWA.
This issue may occur when the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders registry key does not contain all of the required data. Specifically, these problems occur if the AppData string value is missing from this
    registry key.
To resolve this issue, import the User Shell Folders registry key from a working Windows User Profile.
Steps to perform on a working computer
Start Registry Editor. Click Start , type regedit in the Search programs and files box, and then press Enter.
Locate and then select the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
On the File menu, click Export.
Specify the name of the .reg file and then click Save.
Copy the .reg file to the computer exibiting this problem.
    Close Registry Editor.
Steps to perform on the computer displaying the above error(s)
    Start Registry Editor.
On the File menu click Import.
Locate and select the .reg file exported from the working computer.
    Click Open.
    Close Registry Editor.
    Best Regards.

I am a new Mac user, converting from the Windows world.  How do I easily transfer files from one folder location to another in Finder, like I was used to doing in Windows Explorer?

You can expand Finder into multi-panes, I am not at my Mac right now to get the exact key strokes so don't want to mislead you.  Do so many things on auto-pilot that when someone asks I need the machine so I can get the exact things to click on.
But you can get the multi-pane view and drag and drop from pane to pane.

I am a new Indesign user and a Creative Cloud member.  I was using the Window/Pages drop down window to view my pages alphabetically or by page number and also to determine whether or not my JPEG files were sufficiently HI-Res for the printer.  I don't know how I did it but somehow the window has changed so that now it does not have the alphabetical/numerical/Hi-Res information.  It just shows the pages in a two page spread in numerical order.  How can I restore the window so that I will be able to view the information as I did previously.
    Your help will be appreciated,

The pages panel is not the place where you see this information.  You can customize the Links panel to show all sorts of things, including the page number, effective and actual ppi, and whether the link is OK or needs updating.

  • The new ribbon user interface in Win 8.1 should display appropriate buttons depending on the currently displayed folder within the explorer.exe window.

To begin with, in file-explorer (.\system32\explorer.exe) normally, the new ribbon user interface in Win 8.1 does indeed display appropriate buttons depending on the currently displayed folder within the explorer.exe window.
But when one re-parents the explorer window handle to any window handle other than 0000 (desktop's window handle), then the UIRibbon fails to do so.
You might ask 'Who does that ?' and I would say no-one usually, however I use BrightExplorer which
is a great little app that  gives me a tabbed file-explorer experience.
Now, this app works fine since Windows 7, but with Windows 8 the file explorer introduced the new UIRibbon in its UI. It's that new UIRibbon that gets confused by what I think may be be caused by the re-parenting that BrightExplorer does
to pull a file explorer session into its tabbed control.
This phenomenon relates to Windows 8 + and is observed only by doing the following steps:
Download BrightExplorer from BrightNewWorlds.com by going here: BrightExplorer,
In the address bar go to This PC,
then go to any other folder and note that the UIRibbon is not keeping track of the changing folder selections.
Does anyone out there feel that they can do something about this, or have advise?

  • WINDOWS 8.1 - System Tools no longer displaying User and Group Settings after adding a new LOCAL user.

I jumped on my parents computer, which is on a domain.  I added a new local user(with my live.com login) and gave it admin status.  That's when the trouble began.
The main user profile disappeared.  I used the command prompt fix (see other fixes) to add the missing user back into admin.  I logged back in, and it set up the account for the first time (WTF?).  I cannot access any files from the main account
(that I logged into just fine before to get this debacle started.)
When going to Local Computer Management --> System Tools, my users and groups tool is missing.
I ran lusrmgr.msc only to find out that the most current version of Windows 8.1 and this is what it said "This snapin may not be used with this edition of Windows 8.1.  To manage user accounts for this computer, use the User Accounts tool in the
Control Panel."   <---- Awesome!  (that was sarcasm.)
I have spent over two hours in the User Account tool during the course of this problem only to prove that a picture of a computer is more useful that that "tool".
To anyone reading this ticket, the best advice I can offer you (as long as its not a crucial machine) is to back up what you can gain access to, format your hard-drive and reinstall windows and start over again.  I wouldn't recommend reinstalling 8.1,
I would say go back to 7 and wait until 10 comes out.   Windows 8 is the new Vista.  Good luck!

    Hello AhavahOlam,
    I can understand your feelings.
If my understanding is right, after adding a new local user in domain-joined Windows 8.1, you can’t open the local users and groups.
Can you still add account by going to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts\Manage Accounts?
As this computer is domain-based, it is recommended to contact the domain administrator to see if the option is blocked.

  • Windows users doesn't work after migrating from old to new server!

We have done a complete re-install on our XServe with OD. We have about 10 Windows users, and after the installation all their settings and mail are gone. All the "normal" files are there though.
I'm not sure we have done it the right way though: We did a backup from the old server (a bootable copy with Super Duper), then we formatted and installed everything. We made new accounts (with different names if that's good to know) and copied the users home folders to the new location. The Mac clients seem to work good, but all the settings on the Windows clients are gone...
Is there an easier way to this? We still have the workable copy from the old installation. There seems to be some kind of export/import way to do this, but I haven't got a clue how to do that...
    Please help!

    davidh,
We didn't reintegrate smb.conf, but set the new server up just like the old one. We did however compare these files to see that the vital parts (netlogon, shares and so on, and of course basic settings) were correct.
We also copied the user files and profiles and made them identical on the new server, except for placing them under the new usernames.
Regarding the Local Settings folder, it doesn't exist on the old server, that's one of the weird things. We've checked the profile for a user on the client machine, and it is a roaming profile. That's why we're a bit puzzled as to why the login works and all files are there, but the user preferences and Outlook doesn't work.
I know I've read somewhere that the Local Settings aren't replicated like the other files in a roaming profile, but I haven't finished checking up on that. I wouldn't expect anything else than that Windows takes care of Outlook e-mail for a roaming profile as well though; I mean, the user must be able to read his/her mail from any computer in the domain, what else would the purpose of a roaming profile be?
Except for the weird thing about us not being able to find the user preferences or Outlook files for the client amongst the files on the server, I feel we're missing something; Apparently Windows isn't as straight forward as one would expect (not sure why I did expect anything, come to think of it).
We're going to give it a new go next weekend. Except for doing further research we're thinking of copying /etc/smb.conf and the files in /var/samba and /var/db/samba to the new server, along with exporting and importing the old user accounts to the new server, and then see if everything works as expected.
If so, we'll see if we can change the account names in a nice way, it's really desired to do so.
If not, we really need to do some more research, but if I'm not mistaking, the Samba-related files I just mentioned are the ones that pretty much make up the Windows Services in OS X, isn't that so?
    Thanks!

  • When users open links in a new window

We have a report that shows many rows of data together with a link to drill down on a particular row by branching to another page, passing the row PK as a parameter - standard stuff.
However, some of our users like to use the browser facility to open the link in a new window. They then go back to the report and maybe open another link in another new window.
Now they have 2 new windows open, supposedly showing 2 different sets of data. But since the windows share the same SESSION value, the session state gets mixed up. If they click the 2 links quickly enough they can even end up with the same data displayed in both windows.
I realise that I can avoid this by NOT passing the session ID. But since the user could do this with any link, that means NEVER passing the session ID in any link, so effectively not having any persistent session state.
    Is it possible to:
    - prevent the user from opening the link in a new window?
    - recognize that the user has opened the link in a new window and start a new session?
This must be a potential issue for all ApEx applications, so I am sure someone has solved it already!

Actually, I have been looking at ways of detecting that a new window has been opened using Javascript - like this:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function checkIfSpawned() {
      var lsBrowser = navigator.appName;
      var lsNumPages;
      if (lsBrowser.indexOf("Microsoft") >= 0)
        lsNumPages = 0;
      else
        lsNumPages = 1;
      if (history.length <= lsNumPages) location.replace('f?p=103:4');
</script>i.e. if there is no browser history then bring up a special page instead that simply says "sorry, you can't open this page in a new window".
However, there are other ways to end up with the same session in two or more browser windows (saving page including session_id in Favorites, simple cut and paste...) so I am still looking for other ideas. I think there are two ways in which this can be a problem:
    1) Opening the same page with different parameters in two windows simultaneously: the second overwrites the session state of the first, but the first is still rendering and reading the session state. I am exploring whether we can detect that that has happened somehow and raise an error in the corrupted window. For example, perhaps we can save the parameter values into package variables in an On Load, Before Header process and then compare the session state and package values in an On Load, After Footer process: if they are different, the page has been corrupted and we raise an error. (I am very much thinking aloud here, I haven't tried anything yet).
    2) With two windows open with same session_id (however that occurs): we cannot rely on the values in session state, only on values in items that are part of the current page. For example, if we have a 2-page wizard with pages 1001 and 1002, then we should not refer to P1001_XXX items when in page 1002. So we have to pass the values from 1001 to 1002 either as parameters, or perhaps by storing them in a table associated with a unique sequence value generated for the transaction, and then passing the sequence value as a parameter. (Again, thinking aloud here).

  • Url iView: passing user/pass as get variables.  Launching in new window

    Hi,
I pass username and password as get variables from a url iView, and want a page containing this iView to open in a new page using the "Launch in new window" property set to "Display in a separate window".
When previewing the iView or page it is on, it works fine.  But when launching it from the detailed navigation, this does not work.  A new window is opened, but the user is prompted for username and password.
The page to display is an external site, and we have only got the url with user/pass to access it.
Any ides on what can be wrong?
    Best Regards,
    Bjorn

    Hi,
Using the url in IE works fine.  It seems to work everywhere but in the portal menu.
I have the appintegrator in the back of my mind, and will start to have a look at it.  We are also considering a OSS message - this must be a bug in the system as far as I can see.
