Hmmmm... Release 2.0.0 is the same driver release you can get from Creative. Although in the downloads section is called 2.09.0007, the AutoUpdate function identifies it as 2.0.0
If you look at the driver version offered by Windows Update (through Windows Catalog, no need to download anything), you'll see is 5.2.8.20, exactly the same as the aforementioned release, but dated 8/06/07, hence Windows Update considering it a newer version.
Moreover, it will most likely be a stripped down version of Creative's distribution package, hence the much smaller size and the missing functionalities.
The only thing they've done is upload the October release, which replaces the previous version available, which dates back to January '03.
Unless you install the XP drivers from the Vista package, you're pretty much stuck with the October release.
EDIT: Apologies if the information above is misleading. I assumed 5.2.8.20 was the driver from the October release. However, it seems that I installed a different driver at some point, and this is not correct.
However, the driver version offered by Windows Update is definitely 5.2.8.20Message Edited by MrToad on 07-0-2007:30 PM

  • Help - how do I stop Itunes from auto update

I have just deleted everything from my Itunes. How do I stop Ipod from being updated by Itunes automatically (it's now blank except for 2 new songs I just bought. My Ipod has over 1000 songs on it and I don't want it all to be erased by updating it to a blank Itunes library!!

How to keep iTunes from automatically updating your iPod
    Another Easier Alternative:
While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys in Windows (CMD + Option keys on a Mac). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes. The iPod will then appear in the iTunes source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto-sync and then you can release the keys. This action may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
You can then ‘right-click‘ on the iPod icon in iTunes’ source column and select iPod Options, then check the box that says “Manually manage songs and playlists”. You can now manage your library without losing any songs on the iPod.
    If connecting to a
    i different computer
than the ‘iPod’s Home Computer’, iTunes will ask you if you want to update your iPod and give you an opportunity to opt out. This will not happen if you connect to the ‘Home’ computer – iTunes will auto-sync without warning!. Best to know the difference.
    Then: Transfer music manually

  • QUICKTIME [7.4.1] Why can't get from auto-update?

I'm trying to get the new quicktime from the auto/update, but it says my software is upto date / but when i checked online the new version was available only from its website,,, so whys it not there in autoupdate, is there a problem in the new version / which is why apple is not it putting on,,, help plz?

    Lawrence,
    Thanks for your reply.
So to affirm your point, I agree there are certain users who (for whatever reasons) prefer to evaluate and research the available consensus on every single update published for every single of their apps.  So yes, my want to have apps on the iPhone auto-update (vs being required to manually click to update them) might  frustrate some. To that end, I'd imagine there are very few features (like an auto update) a company could add to a heavily used system (like Apple's iOS) without generating some controversy; the auto-update I want is no exception.
That said, the argument that the majority (or even a significant minority) of users wouldn't want to receive the most updated versions of the apps they have on their phones seems a bit thin.  Updates are just that: "up to date" versions of their software.  The onus is on the developers to release functioning and improved updates; that's an obligation Apple should reinforce if they desire a robust and diverse ecology of apps to augment the utility and value of their phones.
The present dynamic assumes iPhone users want to invest their time evaluating and collecting research on the viability of each new update to their apps.  That's ridiculous and implies a mistrust of both their app publishers, as well as the effectiveness of a democratic marketplace:
App publishers want to do right by their users, thus they want to release good updates, and
A marketplace of user ratings and reviews influence other user behavior, so an irresponsible developer wouldn't get very far releasing crap updates.

  • Stopping 2nd computer from auto updating

I basically understand manual update vs. auto update and have already read how to set up a new account to prevent auto update, etc. Things are good: I'm set at auto update, and if I plug the iPod into a 'foreign' computer it does give a warning instead of auto updating. That's exactly what is wanted.
But here's my problem. I have two computers and I do want it to update from the one, and issue the warning from the other. But somehow neither of the primary accounts on my computer and my wife's computer is recognized as 'foreign' though they are different computers, different user names, etc. Plug the iPod into mine and it updates, losing all my wife's files and vice versa. I'd like just one computer and one account to "own" this iPod, but two do. How can I remove the permission from one of them? Thanks.

I'm not sure if this will help as it refers to iTunes 4 but you can have a look at it: Both of your computers think they "own" your iPod
However, there is a keyboard command you can use to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys, (on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go.

  • After I upgrade to Lion OS my Lexmark printer mod. x1185 does not work anymore. I need the scan and copy functions, since I have a HP laserjet for printing. Even in the new (sep/08) driver file from apple there is no driver for my printer. Anyone could h

Driver for lexmark x1185 (series 1100) for MAC OS 10.7. Anyone has a solution ?

You should contact Lexmark. They have not released a driver for this printer since 10.3, and they no longer sell it. You could try the Generic PostScript PPD and see if you get limited functionality.
    Hope this helps.

  • With the newest auto update version of firefox there is now a white bar that pops up when you move your mouse over that area. i want that gone, how?

when you move your mouse underneath the address bar a white bar pops up, this makes it so you can't click buttons or links on websites, like login buttons for example. also when in full screen mode you can no longer mouse over tabs at the top of the screen, only that white bar shows up. that prtty much kills full screen usage for me. so that popup white bar and the full screen with the white bar without tabs has just about ruined firefox for me. anyway to fix this would be great.

  • How can I access Address Book data from an older version of the application to transfer it to a newer version of Mac OS running on a second hard drive on the same MDD G4?

I installed a hard drive from one PowerPC Dual 1.25 GHz MDD into another one with an older version of the OS X.  all my Address Book data are on the older hard drive, from which I now boot the computer.  When I launch Address Book as an app on the hard drive with the newer version of the OS, I get an error message that says I cannot run the version of Address Book from the older hard drive on the newer OS.  How can I access the data on the older hard drive version of the Address Book app so that I can transfer it to the newer version of the app on the boot drive?  The "Import" functionality will not work. I will be grateful for any help I can get.  I would also like to uninstall the older version of OS X from the older hard drive.

Boot from the older version of OSX, then in AB use the File>Export>Export vCard after selecting all in AB.
Then boot from the new OSx & use the new AB to import that VCF file.

  • Stop auto updating

how can I stop Fire Fox 11 from auto update to FF14 ?I need FF11 and no higher for the version of Facebook i'm using

Change your update preference from automatic to notification. See this article:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version#w_how-do-i-configure-update-32optionssf33preferencessf
By the way, after each update Mozilla publishes the security vulnerabilities in the previous release, so running old versions does expose you to potential exploits. I have no idea why you can't run Firefox 14 on your version of Facebook (???), but you will have to decide what level of risk to run. Good system backups are advisable.

  • ILife Support 9.0.4 Update for iLife 08 ~ use Updater version or download?

    I have iLife 08.
In Apple Support Downloads (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1009) this update is recommended for all users of iLife ’09, iWork ’09, and Aperture. File Size: 67.13 MB.
In my Software Update panel the iLife Support 9.0.4 download is 2.3 MB.
I gather the discrepancy in File Size is because only a teeny bit of the update from 67.13 MB download is for iLife 08.
    Question:
I prefer to install updates from downloads rather than from auto-Updater, will the 67.13 MB File know to install just 2.3MB of its load or should I use the Updater for this one?

Use the Updater. It's tailored for your set up.

  • Dead Fusion drive, brand new Late 2013 iMac. No status update from Apple.

Can someone let me know who I shouyld contact with regards to my below issue? I've spent hours upon hours trying to get my new iMac back from Apple store here in New York city, no success.
    Purchased a new Late 2013 model 21" build-to-order iMac 3 months ago >
Hard drive partition corrupt within first month which required in store HD partition correction flash via genius bar >
HD hardware failed next month >
Genius appointment Feb 6 2014, was told new fusion drive was required and would take "2-3 days" >
7 days later I went in-store for status and was told they had no info and would call me with an update >
3 more days I go in store again after no call, still no status update >
Forced to purchase a new cheaper PC so I could keep working from home >
Now its 13-14 days later, I just spent over 2 more hours with Apple Support and still no results, now waiting for store Manager (“Matt”, W 14th St store in NYC) to call me. Its been 5 hours since my call this morning.
I have purchased a new computer as I work from home and cannot be without a computer fofr my job. This is ridiculous, I demanded a refund yet was told because I purchased from an authorized reseller (Tekserve - tekserve.com ) and not an actual Apple store, they cannot refund. Tekserve receipt states all support must go through Apple as it’s a build-to-order system. I paid over $1800 for this iMac (2.7GHZ quad core, 16gb RAM, Fusion drive etc..) a few months ago and it’s been the worst experience I’ve ever had with Apple in 7 years. Pi55ed off. Give me a new exact model iMac today OR give me a refund.
Apple employee, Look up the below repair ID, it'll have my cell phone number attached. Call me anytime with a solution. I've spent hours and hours on calls with Apple support with no results, no return calls from store manager.
    Serial: D25LG******* / Repair ID R114745188

Thats my only option, I shall visit the store this evening and demand to see the manager.
Buying from an Authorized Apple reseller should never mean I get any less support than buying direct from Apple.
You're totally correct on both counts, when you ask to speak to the manager, even though you may be tempted to be angry the best approach to handling the situation is by being; calm, organzied and persistent. Bring all receipts, include names, times, places of who you spoke to and state your case.
I'm sure your issue will be addressed. In addition if you are in the US you can always call Apple's customer relations phone number, I believe the current number is 800-767-2775.
    Good luck.

  • How do I put my photos from a hard drive to my mac using different versions of Iphoto?  It is saying I can't because of the updated version.

    Hello,
I am trying to move photos from my hard drive to my mac.   Mac is using an updated version of Iphoto and is denying the transfer.
How do I get around this?  Do I download the order version?  or can I not get my photos?  If anyone can help please do.
You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto.
    Thanks Carol

I copied my photos onto my hard drive from my mac about 3 months ago.  I just plugged my hard drive in to put my pictures back onto my mac but it is giving me a message when trying to open up the photos from the hard drive that states
Like I said we need to know exactly what you did
THere are lots of totally different ways to "copy your photos" onto a hard drive
Exactly how did you do that? The correct way to move an iPhoot library is to verify that the hard drive is formattted Mac OS extended (journaled) and then to drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to it - reverse to bring it back - just drag it from the EHD to the pictures folder (default location) on your computer
    Why are you doing this?
you can try Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database - depending on what has been going on this might resolve things

  • Help - upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard AND new larger hard drive, MBP

    Howdy!
My iPhone has finally demanded that I upgrade my MBP from Tiger. And as if by coincidence, my now puny 100GB internal drive is packed full with less than a gig free most of the time. (10% free is the MINIMUM free allowance, I know!!) I run old copies of Adobe CS2, Quark, Quickbooks, Microsoft Office... would love to keep them working without purchasing upgrades, but probably isn't a realistic hope. None of it is mission critical at this point.
So I've purchased the $29 Snow Leopard DVD (from a reseller - it says CPU Drop-In DVD Version 10.6 on the disk), and a new 750GB internal drive (same reseller - The drive is a 2.5" SATA 5400RPM 8MB-Buffer Hard Drive (9MM Slim) (RoHS Green Friendly)), to get with the times.
    My other resources include:
    - two 1TB LaCie external drives with FW and USB2 ports
    - one other LaCie external drive - I think 360GB?
    - Retrospect 5.0 (most of my backups are encrypted Retrospect files on those three LaCie external drives, but there's some room on them)
    - a $22 USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE adapter with AC power, to access whatever laptop drive might be without an enclosure temporarily
    - a copy of Carbon Copy Cloner software
    - I just ordered an upgrade to my ancient (OS9) copy of DiskWarrior
    - A monster UPS battery backup and line conditioner that everything plugs into for this process
It has been a long time since I've DIY'd any undertaking this complex, and I'm looking for advice on what to do first, how to go about this.
    Here's my setup:
    Model Name: MacBook Pro 15"
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro1,1
    Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 2 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: MBP11.0055.B08
    SMC Version: 1.2f10
I'm guessing I should do it like this, PLEASE EDIT or make suggestions or tell me what I forgot to do before I do it!!
    1. Back up everything to at least two external locations! Also, make a bootable copy of my current internal drive in its own volume, to at least one external drive that is formatted in HFS+ GUID partition style, with Carbon Copy Cloner (would Retrospect work well for this instead?).
    2. Free up at least 20GB on the current internal drive (100GB). Hopefully 30GB.
    3. Run Disk Utility on the current internal drive. Fix any problems. (Should I hit it with DiskWarrior instead?)
    4. Format the new 750GB drive to HFS+, GUID partitions. (How long will that take? Can I do it with the USB-SATA cable adapter, sitting on my desk, or does it have to be in an enclosure? The adapter has AC power)
    5. Run Disk Utility (or DiskWarrior?) on the new internal drive in its temporarily external position. Fix any problems.
    6. Boot off the Snow Leopard CPU Drop-In DVD and install onto both drives. (Will this version of the DVD I have wipe all files when it installs to a disk???)
    7. See how they run. Boot off the old 100GB internal drive, boot off the new to-be-internal 750GB drive. Panic if it's not going well.
    8. If the current internal 100GB drive is rocking Snow Leopard and my familiar files and apps seem somewhat functional, use Carbon Copy Cloner to recreate the volume on the new larger drive. Then swap the drives physically. (Links to good step-by-step instructions on this part would be much appreciated here!!)
    9. If the Snow Leopard DVD overwrote or snuffed out my familiar files and apps on the old internal drive, sigh deeply, then swap the drives physically. Use CCC (or Retrospect? or Migration Assistant?) to fetch my junk from the old internal drive's backup and plunk it on the new bigger internal drive (now installed).
    10. See how it runs. Shake my fist at the sky over the planned obsolescence of technology paired with the seductive power of my iPhone. Grumpily upgrade the software that I actually create income with.
Please help! I am just faking it here based on a few message boards I've read. Will this actually work properly?
    Thanks!

Howdy slowpoke43, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Please help! I am just faking it here based on a few message boards I've read. Will this actually work properly?
LOL, if your faking it you're the best!
    1. Yes, absolutely... no CCC would be best in my experience/opinion.
    2. Yes, the more he better... Free Space is no longer our Free Space, but OSX's.
    3. Indeed, & if you have the correct version of DW, do that.
    4. Yes, not long, A/C power is great.
    How to format your disks...
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/partitioningtiger.html
(To Install OSX on an IntelMac the Drive it needs the GUID Partitioning scheme mentioned at the bottom.)
Thanks to Pondini, Formatting,  Partitioning, Verifying,  and  Repairing  Disks...
    http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/DU.html
    6. Yes, boot off the 10.6 DVD, & no Snow Leopard does by default what we used to call an Archive & Install, saves & updates all your info, APPs, Music, etc., it may quarantine a few things or not but will tell you.
    7. Absolutely, but Panic won't be needed with your great preparation & Bootable Backups!
    8. Not quite sure I understand, but run SL for a few days before you do anything.
    9. Yeah, but again with you doing everything right from the gitgo, I can't picture that happening.
    10. Yes indeed, the hangup with yours is that it only holds 2GB of RAM... a pain in 10.5 & up IME.
Again let me say... GONGRATS, I've never ever seen anybody so well prepared & informed despite your diffidence!

  • Recently got a new computer and installed itunes from external drive - all music shows up in the library, however when i click on a song i receive this message "the song could not be used because the original file could not be found".  What do i do?

I recently got a new computer and installed itunes from which had been saved onto an external drive - all music shows up in the library, however when I click on a song I receive this message "the song "abc" could not be used because the original file could not be found".  What can I do?

I was given the option to locate the file where the song is held. If so select "locate" and direct it to the folder / file where the song is and open it. itunes then will give you the option to use this process to update all of your library. OK that as this will do it automatically instead of doing them one by one. I hope this helps.

  • Making a jtable auto updates itself from a mysql table

Pretty much what the title says. How can i auto update the jtable for every time my mysql table is updated in anyway? i am implementing this auto update function in my admin program which displays a list of users who are online etc. from the moment a user is offline/online or changes other details displayed in my jtable, i want it to auto update the jtable as soon as the actual mysql table has been updated with new data...
I was thinking of re doing the whole jtable i made and create a thread for that table that has a infinite while loop that keeps repainting the jtable with the new updated data from a mysql table query eg select * from table and store the data into a resultset which then gets transferred into a vector. Load the vector into the jtbale and their ya go.
what you think of this approach? Is their a better way to do this?
at the moment, as soon as my application opens, the jtable views all the data from my sql table, however if it doesnt auto updates itself, cheers

i am implementing this auto update
function in my admin program which displays a list of
users who are online etc. from the moment a user is
offline/online or changes other details displayed in
my jtable, i want it to auto update the jtable as
soon as the actual mysql table has been updated with
new data...Well you can make some changes to make implementation easy
Ex: Create a table to keep a log of the changes in the system the dmin program read the log and replicate the changes as specified in the log on the table model.
When reading the log the admin program keep track of the sequence no of the last read log entry and it reads ony the entries which has larger seq numbers than the last read seq no
I dont think that it is critical to make this to be cloase to real time. An Update once a 1 or 2 secs should be sufficient.
