New xbox wont connect

My son got a new xbox for his birthday (it has built in wireless).  I have tried to connect it to my BT homehub 2 but the xbox is saying it cannot obtain a IP address from the router. I have tried putting in a manual IP address but will not work.  DHCP is enabled.  The only thing I havn't looked at is the MAC Filtering.  Where do you find it on the homehub manager.  I set my other sons xbox up at the beginning of the year and had no problems (this had an external adapter). Can anyone help.  Thanks

Hi,
You would be better off posting this in the Broadband forum. And you'll get more replies too!
Hope that helps.
(Oh, while I'm here, have you tried inputting your hub wireless key into your sons xbox?).
Cheers.

  • New ipod wont connect, new ipod wont connect

my old ipod broke, and i bought a new one today, but when i plug it into itunes, it wont show up as a device. i downloaded the new itunes twice, but nothing. please help!!!!!

Is the device on? It needs to be on in order for iTunes to recognize it. If it is on and you're getting this screen:
    http://bit.ly/mSb93T
Then you need to connect it at that point. You can turn it on by holding the Sleep/Wake button.
If you bought it within the past few days, you probably have iOS 5 in which case you can just turn it on by holding the Sleep/Wake button and setting it up on the device itself, then iTunes can probably recognize it after that.

  • New iPad wont connect to Wi-fi automatically

Hi everytime i turn the new iPad on i need to manully enter the Wi-Fi password.  This doesn't seem right thanks

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Xbox wont connect with WRT160N

My home computer and my wife's laptop are all working fine with the wireless network.
My xbox shows up on the Linksys system front page but does not have the solid green line connecting it to the router like our home computer and my wife's laptop does.
What am I doing wrong here?

On your XBOX when you are trying to connect to your wireless network are you getting any error message?
Whats the Wireless Settings you have setup on your Router (SSID, Security Mode, Security Key)? If you have enable Wireless MAC Filter on your Router, then Disable it and then try to connect to your Wireless Network on your XBOX.

  • HT201413 My new iphone wont connect to the internet also I have reset my passwords 10 times or more because a pop up always pops up and says wrong password very frustrated

cant connect to internet and passwords are always wrong?

When you're in Arch, use output redirection
    lspci >lspci.out
then boot into Ubuntu or something where you can access the files and the BBS,  Of course, don't forget to use a new file for each command output.
The new network config in rc.conf is not that complicated (wired anyway; never used wireless).  OTOH I've had issues on two machines where I have to restart the network daemon (rc.d restart network) or rerun netcfg (netcfg eth0) after boot to get connectivity. And I still haven't come to grips with the ip command.

  • New Macbook wont connect to the internet

So i bought one of those new MacBook's. Its airport detects the network im trying to connect to, and shows it has full signal strength but refuses to let me onto any websites. Its as if there is no network connection active, despite airport saying there is.
I went into the Mac Store and asked a very helpful person in a blue t-shirt there and he mentioned adding the macbooks MAC address to the MAC Filter list. - that hasnt worked
The Network im trying to connect to is a WPA Personal, set up on a windows PC
    Can anyone help?!

You need to access the router from you Mac and verify that the settings are correct.
Enter the IP of the router into your address bar on Safari and log into the router.
You will need to know the IP address, and the login id and password.
Then check the WiFi settings. Type of encryption, etc.
Then on the Mac in Network Preferences, be sure you have checked Configure: Using DHCP
If you are connecting to the router you should see the router IP address next to Router:
and your own IP DHCP-assigned IP next to IP Address.
You might want to first set the computer up using a wired connection to the router to eliminate any issues with the WiFi, which is a bit more complex to setup and get working properly.
You will have to learn a bit about networking in order to diagnose and fix things.
Then there is the other issue: If your router does not have the latest firmware, Leopard may not work with it until it is updated. Leopard security is much higher than in the Windows world and if the router and/or WiFi part of it is not running the most recent firmware/software, Leopard may simply not connect. Many of us here had to update our router firmware to make Leopard work properly. It's easy to do and you can find the information on your router's website.

  • New mac wont connect to linksys WRT54G

i have tried everything. restarted router, tried all the passwords, WEP keys with and without the $ signs in front. i get invalid password sometime, and sometimes i get could not connect to router. i would appreciate any help

    Start from scratch.
Yell out the window and scream, "I am fed up, and I can't take it anymore" (optional)
Plug the power into its socket
Plug the Ethernet plug that goes to the Internet into the uptake, or Internet port.
Hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
Turn off Airport in your computer, if that is what your using, as you will need to use your eithernet port on your computer instead.
Put an eithernet wire into one of the other ports on the router and connect it onto the computer.
At this point, go to network preferences and copy the router number.
Open a window or tab into eihter Safari or Firefox and paste the router number into the location. The http:// should be the only other item that you should see in the location bar.
    The password will be "admin"
From here, you will put in the information that you will need, which should be what ever your ISP requires.
Then before you do anything else, test it, first with the current connections. If that works, and you want to use the wi-fi, turn on airport, but make sure that you disconnect the Ethernet cord, as your computer could use that over wi-fi.
If that works, bow , and say, "I am not worthy," three times.
Put away your Ethernet cord and place offerings or sacrifices to the linksys.

If for some reason you failed to keep on your computer, not good, tehn you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

    2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
    3) Click on set-up and change the MTU Size to 1452 and click Save Settings...Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...

  • Got new router, now powerbook G3 pismo wont connect to it.

asked cable company to replace router as i was paying for 60 meg connection but due to moving my router to connect to my dreambox i realised that the router only had 802.11g wifi and so my computer wasnt able to connect fast enough to use the connection. when watching football or downloading big files i ran an ethernet cable across the room which wasnt ideal.
they replaced it with a new router capable of 802.11n today an rewired the cabling so both my mac and dreambox have ethernet connections.
when they were here i went to test it with wifes powerbook but battery was dead so i tested with my palm tx and it connected fine..
    however...
wifes powerbook gives an error and wont connect. part of me thinks its due to the powerbook being 802.11b and the router not handling that, but my palm tx is 802.11b so thats not a reason surely? checked and psp, wii, nokia phone all connect but powerbook gives error.
if it is, can i just stick a pc usb 802.11g or n stick into the powerbook's usb (1) slot and make it connect?

Are you certain you connected all the way to the Internet with your palm, and not just to the Router?
    cable company
The cable company has to perform a "deep reset" to allow you to use a new device with a new M.A.C. Address. Your connection was established with an older M.A.C. Address, and that (your old Router) is the only device that can be connected until they do this.
Call them and tell them, "I got a new computer, and you guys have to reset your equipment to accept the new device in place of the old one."
almost every 802.11n Router has a mode that will allow it to pause for an instant and "sniff" for slower devices. It slows your network down by an imperceptible amount. Not an issue in home networks. But you may have to configure it to do so.

I'm not sure if i am in the right room to ask but, i got a new job and my w-4 is online threw the adobe acrobat reader ans is filled out but it wont connect to the browser to get it submitted. what is wrong?@

I doubt that the W-4 has a submit button. If you are using Reader XI (actually the topic of the Reader forum, not this one), you should be able to save it and then print and deliver. If it is set to be submitted by the browser, then it may be your Reader and the browser are not talking properly. If there is a generic URL that you can provide that has the W-4, we might be able to give you more info. A lot depends on what your particular form looks like. Hand carrying it should always be an option.
