  • Trying to set up a new DB and Mobile server ....

I have a server runing ora 9i and mobile server 10.2 on linux,
Now trying to change the server to a new one with linux and
Oracle 10.1. and 10.3 as the mobile server.
    Did the following steps.
1.All users were logged off in old server
    2.stopped mobile server
    2. Exported using system full db
    3. imported the same to new system
    4. Checked ADMIN_JDBC_URL,THIN_JDBC_URL and found the new server settings.
. every thing is fine except mobile server part.
when try to start mobile server it gives following.
    [oracle@test bin]$ ./runmobileserver
2008-03-05 11:29:03.169 NOTIFICATION JMS Router is initiating ...

Then tryied ./repwizard and it says system does not have required priviledge. But as to the help section all roles were assigned to System.
if anyone has the correct method of transfering the entire db and mobileserver to a new server please post details.
I need to sync clients on the new server without refreshing.
    Help is appreciated.

    Thanks rekounas,
I was out of the office for few days and back again at work.
I made a mistake while running the repwizard.
    now its ok.
Problem was i was using mobileadmin to run repwizard.
But i tried it with database schema(back end) user and password now ok and
running on 10g r3. but it does a complete refresh on the new server. that takes time and i think there should be some parameter to make it only fast refresh.

  • New modem and now server cant be accessed

Changed modem today from BT to ntl - internet etc all working ok.
But since the change the server cannot be accessed.
Go > Connect to Server ..... never connects.
    At the server...
Try to connect to Server preferences.... get 'Server cannot be found on the network"
In System Preferences Network pane on left is...
    Ethernet - Connected. (Looks OK)
lPv4 - not connected. (The pane on the right shows expected server info - i hit connect and it prompts for password but just says server does not exist.)
This is the second time this has happened. In frustration last time I just reinstalled OSX Server (It is Leopard version)
There has to be an easier remedy.
    Anyone help?

Changing the modem shouldn't be a problem. Try resetting the modem - power it down and let it rest a moment, then power it back up again. Some need more power-off time than others for the reset to be effective. While it is powered down, disconnect the coaxial cable as well. Literally unscrew it and leave it disconnected for a moment or two.
Don't do anything with your Extreme just yet.

  • [SOLVED] Blinking screen - new Xorg and Intel issue

Screen is blinking after opening laptop lid no matter what i did (nothing, lock screen, hibernate, standby). It blinks every 10-20 seconds for about 1-2 seconds, and cpu% used by X's raises from 0.3-1.0 to even 10% and system slows down a little in that moment. My Xorg logs:

I have newest xorg and intel drivers (xorg-server 1.7.1.901-2 & xf86-video-intel 2.9.1-1). I tried also downgrade this (and related) packages to older versions (even xorg-server 1.5.* & xf86-video-intel 2.4.*) and the same happens... with only one difference. On that oldest packages I've tried screen doesn't blinks, but the wallpaper of the desktop is changing: my -> default -> my -> default... with the same frequency . I was googling a lot, believe me. I study IT on a University and I asked my friends from there, and they just run out of ideas. In addition i can write that it isn't my laptop fault because windows xp works fine and ubuntu 9.04 (i had before archlinux) also worked good. It has started on ubuntu 9.10, so I thought I move to archlinux, and its still here? I suppose its a problem with intel drivers or xorg, but somehow linked with power management of the monitor(?). But why then older packages don't work? Please, I will be grateful for any help.

  • Issues with Arch, xorg and Asus eee 4G 701

Hello, this is my first post here
I installed Arch 2009.02 on my Asus eee 701(4G), the installation went well and the system was up and running within minutes. I configured the wireless card (Atheros) which arch supported out-of-the-box and updated the system with pacman -Syu. Then, I installed the intel driver for the vga of the eee and attempted to configure X.
The issues started at this point. "Xorg -configure" appeared to work, but when I did "X -config /root/xorg.conf.new" all I could see was the mouse cursor as an X and nothing more. The touchpad didn't respond and nothing worked.
Then, I tried using "xorgcfg" but even though the screen worked great (I could see the stuff displayed), the system couldn't receive any input from the touchpad and thus the result was just a little bit better than with "Xorg -configure". I tried to reboot and use a USB mouse to see if the cursor responded but to no avail...
As a last resort, I decided to use the xorg.conf found on the eee page of the archwiki. I downloaded it in my PC, saved it and used wget to move it from my ftp server to the eee. I moved it to /etc/X11/ as xorg.conf and attempted to run "X -config /etc/X11/xorg.conf" to see if it worked. Unfortunately, no result. xorg attempted to start and then quit with the error "Fatal server error:  no screens found".
That's pretty much it... I have no idea what to do next or why the xorg.conf found in the Arch wiki doesn't work... Any suggestions would be really appreciated...

I did what you suggested above, but it still fails. Then I studied the log and I found this:
Parse error on line 10 of section files in file /etc/X11/xorg.conf
"RgbPath" is not a valid keyboard in this section
Any suggestions on how to solve this?
EDIT: OK, the discussion page on the Archwiki helped. All I had to do was remove the  'RgbPath "/usr/share/X11/rgb"' line and xorg worked flawlessly

  • Openbox and Xorg 6.8.0 w/composite

I have tried flux, pekwm, waimea and many others. They all did not handle composite very will if at all.
My config is simple torsmo and widow manager with lots of terms and apps, ie. firefox-0.10, thunderbird-0.8, abiword, gnumeric, eterm, etc. All simple.
Openbox handles composite flawlessly, xcomposite -cCF. In addition memory usage is great, very low.
Just thought I would drop a line this is awsome. I wanted something like flux I will be trying transpency soon.
It is worth a try.....and is under active devel.
    Walt

I too was amaze by the fact that it follows standards of freedesktop.org. I think waimea will follow suit when the developer gets time. But, openbox has such a leap on the development.
Still have not tried transpency yet. But, pbpanel and torsmo are just awsome!!!
composite is part of the new version of xorg 6.8.0. It allows shadowing of windows.
    Composite OPTIONS:
    -d display
    Specifies the display to manage.
    Specifies the display to manage.
-a Automatic server-side compositing. This instructs the server to
use the standard composition rules. Useful for debugging.
-c Client-side compositing with soft shadows and translucency sup-
    port.
-f When -c is specified, enables a smooth fade effect for transient
windows like menus, and for all windows on hide and restore
    events.
    -n Simple client-side compositing.
    -s Server-side compositing with hard-edged shadows.
-C When -c is specified, attempts to avoid painting shadows on pan-
    els and docks.
-F When -f is specified, also enables the fade effect when windows
change their opacity, as with transset(1).
-S Enables synchronous operation. Useful for debugging.

  • Sever issue with Xorg and Nvidia Drivers

I run a 2.6.20 kernel with Xorg and Nvidia drivers all from arch rep on a Asus NV6200. Everything works fine, except one thing. When I exit X, the monitor shuts down imediatly. It wont start up at all, not even by manual startup. I cant understand what happens. The configuration is correct, is done with the correct settings for my video-card and monitor taken directly from the documentation. I cant use my X server at all since several days ... I checked the logs and there are no EE's. Anyway ... here is the log. Help anyone can help, I cant use X at all.

No ... the problem is in the kernel that comes precompiled.
    I did this test.
The first time I installed the kernel I unloaded nvidiafb since I dont like it.
When I install nvidiafb back something strange happends. Nvidia module fails to load.
The modprobe sais it cannot find the device nvidia.ko ... but it is there!
So my best guess is, there is something with the kernel. Any ideas?
    Problem resolved, installed older driver

  • Issues with xorg and catalyst

    Hi.
I was running an older version catalyst and xorg, but I upgraded everythin to try to get rid of an issue, and now the problem is much worse.
For some reason the open source ati/radeon drivers now result in a very high load average, so I'm trying to get the catalyst drivers to work.
However, I'm getting a floating point error.
    Here's the log

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I also tried disabling dri in xorg.conf, since dri appears in the backtrace for the error. That resulted in a segfault coming from something related to gl, so I disabled all acceleration, and got a black screen.
    Thanks!

Was there a kernel update in a recent upgrade? If so, you need to rebuild the catalyst drivers.

About 1 month ago it looks like restart of Xorgs when I press enter key. Alway ENTER key. After some updates/nvidia driver combinations - doesn't change anything. Now after fresh reinstall (well crashes destroys my ext3 filesystem an I need to reinstal the root file system) there are crashes, but now, every freeze I have to restart system. Now I am switchingo into ubuntu, I will try to check sometimes if something changed.
Cashes repeats every reboot from... maby 3-4 months. Now I can say my system is not stable, I use this in work - so this situation is really bad.

  • Intel 82845G and xorg 1.8 - anyone got it working?

By 'working' I mean 'not crashing'. I can install xorg 1.8 just fine, but rebooting every half an hour is not my thing. The crashes happen even if I'm just typing away at the xterm.

There are some bug reports in both our and upstream bugtrackers but the issues are still open.
I'm quite happy w/ xorg 1.6 I have so it's not a life-or-death situation by any means. If you got it working, please tell me how you did it - there's a myriad of "switches" to flip and I'm too lazy / busy to try them all out. I've tried a few and got nowhere, so I'm asking you, my fellow Archers.

Same hardware here, having this issue for about two years now with linux in general, about six months ago I start using arch, to my surprise it didn't crash that much and when it did a least it took me to the console login, so no data was lost. a month ago I switch to arch completely and just for the fun of it I have four arch DE in my single computer the results are as follow:
Gnome=no crashes smooth performance even with composite enabled (the simple one build in gnome)
KDE=freezes on some heavy loaded webpages with flash media, a strange garbaged screen occurs when I am using some software in root mode like dolphin then it crash and takes me to login window. this could be kde I have no idea.
Xfce=freezes with heavy flash media once in a while. can be restarted by killing x.
LXDE=no crashes/freezes (I use it just for internet surfing)
all of the above with up to date software.
Coming from Ubuntu lucid I may said that the driver has been improved, and probably cutting the fat out of the system may improve performance. I use gnome as my main system and all I can say is that finally I can use my computer for something else other than trying to fix xorg and intel. I was really moved to buy a new one but Arch just give me some more juice out of this old machine. same intel card than described in the first post. this is definitely not my Ubuntu 8.04 which was flying in amazing compositing effects but a least is back to a tool I can work on.
All of my systems are fresh installs, all of them with the xorg 1.8 and the ..34.. kernel since the beginning, there is no xorg.conf file on any, I haven't had a crash in which I need to do a hard restart.

  • Wizardpen and Xorg 1.8.1, Genius Tablet problem and solution

Hello!!! I post this information just to contribute with a solution to a problem I was fighting with in the last days. I search for an answer and did not find it. If someone need more information feel free to ask. Oh! And sorry for my english.
    The Problem:
After the update of Xorg and the Wizardpen driver from the AUR my tablet was not working anymore. The hal policy did not work, because Xorg now uses other method for hotplugged devices. If you want to learn more read this http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg#InputClasses
    Solution:
We have to tell Xorg wich is the driver for that device creating an InputClass. To do that, we need some info about the tablet first. Execute:
    grep -i name /proc/bus/input/devices
and search for a line with the name of your tablet. In my case is:
    Name="UC-LOGIC Tablet WP8060U"
Now we need to calibrate the tablet, first execute:
    cat /proc/bus/input/devices
And search for a devices with the name you see before. In my case:
    I: Bus=0003 Vendor=5543 Product=0005 Version=0100
    N: Name="UC-LOGIC Tablet WP8060U"
    P: Phys=usb-0000:00:02.0-3/input0
    S: Sysfs=/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/usb2/2-3/2-3:1.0/input/input5
    U: Uniq=
    H: Handlers=mouse0 event5
    B: EV=1f
    B: KEY=c01 0 3f0001 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
    B: REL=303
    B: ABS=100000f
    B: MSC=10
See the line "H: Handlers=mouse0 event5". The last part tells you the device is in event5 (note that we do not use the mouse0), in your case could be other. Use this info to execute the next command with your event number:
    wizard-calibrate /dev/input/event5
Follow the on screen instruccions (press the pen on a corner of the tablet and on the oposite corner).  The last lines of the output look like this:
    Driver "wizardpen"
    Option "TopX" "2691"
    Option "TopY" "3249"
    Option "BottomX" "31462"
    Option "BottomY" "30089"
    Option "MaxX" "31462"
    Option "MaxY" "30089"
We will use this info in a moment.
Later create a text file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/70-wizardpen.conf and put this content in it, but remember to change the text "THE NAME OF YOUR TABLET" to match the name you find previously and the configuration of your tablet calibration:
    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "wizardpen"
MatchProduct "THE NAME OF YOUR TABLET"

In my case the file is

Restart X or restart your computer and that's all. MY TABLET WORKS!!!
I read somewhere else, I don't remember where, that you can set other match sentences for Xorg that do not work for me, for some reason this is false for my tablet so I did not use this but for you may work. Inside the "Section" -> "EndSection" you can try to put this "Match" sentences in case Xorg failed to recognize your device.
    MatchIsTablet "on"
    MatchVendor "UC-LOGIC|KYE Systems|Ace Cad"
    MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/by-id/usb-UC-LOGIC_Tablet_WP8060U-event-mouse"
The last one is obtained whit this command:
    ls /dev/input/by-id
search for two devices, one called usb-name_of_your_tablet-event-mouse and other called usb-name_of_your_tablet-mouse, in my case the output of the "ls /dev/input/by-id" command is:
    usb-UC-LOGIC_Tablet_WP8060U-event-mouse
    usb-UC-LOGIC_Tablet_WP8060U-mouse
If you want to try you have to put those devices names in the right place, note that this not work for me. The file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/70-wizardpen.conf would be like this, remember to change the device path to match yours:
    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "wizardpen"
    MatchIsTablet "on"
    MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/by-id/usb-UC-LOGIC_Tablet_WP8060U-event-mouse"

    Option "TopY" "3249"
    Option "BottomX" "31462"
    Option "BottomY" "30089"
    Option "MaxX" "31462"
    Option "MaxY" "30089"

    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "wizardpen ignore mouse dev"
    MatchIsTablet "on"

    MatchVendor "UC-LOGIC|KYE Systems|Ace Cad"

    EndSection
Ok, I hope someone find this usefull, good luck!

I updated the driver to the last version in AUR. It works without any configuration at me (no calibration or custom xorg.conf entries). I tried with xorg-server 1.9+ only, though.

  • Xorg and refresh rates

I'm running Solaris Express 10 x86 4/05 on a Dell Optiplex GX260. Xorg refuses to give me a refresh rate higher than 60Hz. This is using the i810 driver but it also happens with the VESA driver. Here's my xorg.conf:

    Thanks.

I upped the log verbosity on Xorg and checked the Xorg.0.log file. I found some interesting things.
    First, I found this line:
(II) I810(0): Will use BIOS call 0x5f05 to set refresh rates for CRTs.
    Later on, I found these:
(WW) I810(0): Extended BIOS function 0x5f05 not supported.
(II) I810(0): BIOS call 0x5f05 not supported, setting refresh with VBE 3 method.
(WW) I810(0): Set VBE Mode rejected this modeline.
    Trying standard mode instead!
Presumably, "standard mode" is an eye-watering 60Hz.
This is on a Dell Optiplex GX260 with BIOS revision A09. The video chipset is an onboard Intel 82845 and the driver is Xorg's i810.
Everything works fine with Sun's X server. I get a nice 87Hz refresh at 1024x768. I'm surprised that Xorg can't set the refresh on this machine. It's listed as Test Suite Level 2 certified in the HCL. Unless somebody can tell me what I'm doing wrong here, I'm going to post this incompatibility as a comment on the HCL.

  • Window Maker and xorg 7.0

Can you run Window Maker with new xorg?
Each time I try to run it I see just window with information that Window Maker segfaulted.
I deleted GNUstep in my home, then called wmaker.conf, but that didn't help.
Yesterday I updated Window Maker, because new package appeared, but that also didn't help.
    Any ideas?

yup, wmaker and xorg both from testing work together

  • X crashes after last Kernel, Xorg and Nivida update despite downgrade

    Hey,
Since I upgraded my system two days ago with the kernel 3.1.4, nvidia 289.05.09.3 and Xorg 1.11.2-1 my X kept crashing passed login from SLIM. I Downgraded all those packages and dependencies to the last working version for me, but I keep getting the error.
I would appreciate some pointers because I'm not even sure of what's causing the crash. Thanks !
