New yahoo, (sic)

Is anyone else having problems with the new Yahoo homepage beta?
I tried in 3 browsers- IE - Mozilla 1.3.1- iCab 3.0.3
For explorer 5.1/ OS 9 it's another nail in it's coffin.
As far as Moz. & iCab it lets you get there - eventually.
After 3 pages you finally get to a link for switchback to original version.
Problem there - it's not a final opt-out of beta. you go through this
each time!!! - Homepage ****. (plus fill out a survey!)
It's as if AT&T Yahoo dsl have hijacked your "unsupported" browser.
Thier support had the same problem - did not know how to work around.
They claim, IE6, Safari & Firefox 1.5 as min. supported browsers.
Here are url's that I found to work, but it seems to keep changing.
http://att.my.yahoo.com/switch;_ylt=AggykXVrIELOHMlPsDsI8zPcNXwV
http://cm.my.yahoo.com/?_bdetect=1 (<-worked in IE for 1 day)
<a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://cm.my.yahoo.com/switch
Need my files etc. so I can Migrate to...? iGoogle or whoever.

"They claim, IE6, Safari & Firefox 1.5 as min. supported browsers."
Which all require OS X.x
You can still use the +"older version"+ by clicking on its link.
Yahoo's new homepage is BETA. Which means it will be buggy not ready for primetime until the final version comes out.
There are millions of other homepages that are compatible w/the older OS's. Seems like every website now-a-days want you to bookmark their site as your homepage. Check out your own ISP homepage for starters.

  • When I open a slde show in New Yahoo Mail I can't get back to Yahoo. When I click on the "back to Yahoo" button, the screen freezes with a gray cast over it and I have to use the back button and forward button to get back to my inbox.

This problem started immediately after I upgraded to Firefox 9.0.1
If I open my inbox in my New Yahoo Mail, then open an email with attachments and then open the attachments to "view as a slide show"....I can't close the slide show and return to the email by clicking on the "return to Yahoo" button. If you click on it, it returns to the first pic shown, and if you click on it again, the pics disappear and a gray haze appears over most of the screen but none of the features under the gray screen work. I have found that if I hit the back page and then forward page buttons, I can get back to my inbox eventually, but this is a terrible "pain in the ass"!

  • "Open link in new tab" not working with Safari and new Yahoo Mail won't open in new tabs.  Yahoo says it is a Safari issue.  I don't think so.

    Any ideas?
Works fine in classic Yahoo mail.  But in the "new" Yahoo mail, there is not even an option to open in new tab when I right click the message to be opened.  Interestingly enough, I can right click open to new tab on any other link on the same page that the emails are listed in.
Anyone encounter this?  Have a solution?
    Thanks.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
If that didn't help, try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file.
    Quit Safari.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. Try Yahoo / tabs. If it functions as it should, move the .plist file to the Trash. Otherwise move it back to the Preferences folder.
And check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari. Try again.

  • New Yahoo mail reply/forward works with Explorer but not Firefox

Recently switched my Yahoo mail account to New Yahoo Mail. New Yahoo worked fine with Firefox until Firefox update. Now can see my mail but can't reply or forward. As suggested by Yahoo, upgraded both Flash Player & Java Script & also disabled Firefox plugins but no luck. After Flash/Java upgrades, New Yahoo worked with Explorer.

  • New yahoo mail no response when compose email or reply to sender is selected EI9 browser works ok , is there a setting in Firefox? thanks.

When I upgraded to the new yahoo mail I found I was unable to compose new emails or reply to senders. When I select these functions nothing happens. Internet explorer 9 works fine.
I have McAfee Security Center firewall etc.
I have not noticed any other problems with the Firefox browser.
I contacted yahoo mail support and they tell my email account
functions OK for them. Is there a setting that needs to be tweaked to allow Firefox to work correctly?
    Thanks...

  • Why can't I open my emails in the new Yahoo Mail any more? It was ok until Yahoo upgraded it.

Yesterday I upgraded my Yahoo mail and at first the auto complete email address didn't work and now I can't open my emails to read them. The page just freezes. Can you help me please?

This is probably an issue with the new Yahoo code that Yahoo needs to fix on their site.<br />
You can try to contact them or post on a Yahoo forum if there is such a forum for problems with Yahoo! Mail.

  • New Yahoo mail won't work on New Lion MacBook Pro (?)

I get a message from Yahoo telling me that by browser isn't compataible with new Yahoo mail - both in Firefox and Safari browers.
It was working fine yesterday, but not today.
I am therefore being forced to use the old Yahoo mail.

User Library is hidden by default.
    use the option key
    Finder>Go (option key)>Library.
However your Adobe reader is in Applications.
    Do a Spotlight search>  command-spacebar

  • Why don't I see the 'Emoticons' and 'Format' tabs when composing a message in the new Yahoo Mail, using Firefox, but I do when using Internet Explorer?

I have been using the new Yahoo Mail on Firefox. But today I noticed that when I write an email (Compose/Reply/Forward), I cannot format it. Only the 'Attachments' tab is present, but the 'Emoticons' and 'Format' tabs are not.
But when I do it using Internet Explorer, all those tabs are present and I can format and do whatever.
Is there something wrong with my Firefox? I have restarted my computer, I have shut it down, but my Yahoo Mail remains problematic when using Firefox.

Firefox only allows you to save executable files. If you want to add an option to run them you can use the OpenDownload² add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/opendownload-10902

  • New Yahoo Mail- annoying ad on top line

    Hi ,
Been converted today to new Yahoo mail .
Firstly Im confused as I thought BT were ditching Yahoo and putting us all on their own service , is that right ?
Secondly there seems to be two versions , the full blown one seems to have an annoying ad banner at the top of my in box and I dont want it , can anyone advise how to remove it please ?
    Thanksi
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

That's not a very helpful answer to anyone like me who deliberately uses webmail (i.e. what is now called "cloud"!) by choice and for valid reasons and has done for ever-ish!
BT need to understand that a dark background with light text was proven donkeys' years ago to be less readable and more stressful for eyes and brains.
I also object in the strongest terms to being force fed adverts offensive to me, my values, my beliefs and completely not associated with any browser/internet usage I make.
The functionality has also been destroyed, unless they've forgotten to tell us.
What was broken that needed such a hideous fix?

So I researched online on how to  revert back to Yahoo basic by disabling the Java Script. This worked  somewhat but now I can't attach files our change my Font size. Please help I have been using Yahoo for 13 years and all my contacts and history is there. Anythought on how to get back to the New imperfect Yahoo I could at least attach files my business depends on that.
    Thanks in advance.

    Try this ...
From the Mail menu bar (top of your screen) click File > Import Mailboxes but unfortunately, I don't think it wil work with Yahoo folders.
On your hard drive? Yes...  left side of the Mail window you'll see MAILBOXES. You should see:  On My Mac
If necessary, you can still access your Yahoo mail from Safari.
    You're welcome.

  • Is firefox 4 compatible with new yahoo mail?

Yahoo mail is asking me to update to new Yahoo Mail and states that it is compatible with Firefox 3. Will I have a problem with Firefox 4?

@ ''xaniz25'', try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

  • New Yahoo e-mail problems on an old Mac

My elderly father has an old Mac and has just logged in with the new Yahoo Mail.   He seems to be missing the 'blue bar' that should have 'Delete Spam Mark Move'.   I have tried replicating on our PC, but it is all fine.
Could it be that the Mac / safari version he is running is old and not compatible?
I've never used Macs so am finding it really difficult to talk him through the possible options remotely!
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hi PaulAlison
