NEw Z30 battery Drain

Greetings guys, a proud new owner of a white z30 which I received a week ago through that amazing black friday sale ($225!!). I unboxed the device and immediately installed a system update to 10.2.1.3062 via wifi ota. At which point I also installed blackberry link to my desktop and transferred my contacts and such from my previous device (9360) to my z30. I then began to notice something strange as I was only getting about 12 hours of charge or even less when I baby the phone. I was looking forward to the idea of 24 hours of battery life but in this first week that oddly has not been the case my system monitor fluctuates and it will go from 100% to 95% in the span of 40 minutes which I find alarming. I've read that the OS needs "time to settle" in the first 48 to 72 hours but it's almost been a week since I activated the device and I'm starting to wonder if I got a defective unit? Considering I was ordering straight form the blackberry site I was having full confidence in the build quality of my purchase. I unboxed on the 5th of december and now its the 12th. I'm overseas and it was a relative who took advantage of the deal so I wont be able to return the device if indeed it is defective. I need some help and I need some insight. Been a long time fan of he site and the community so I turn to y'all. Respect and blessings.

My Z30, I rarely get 16-18 hours, more often 12-15 hours usage. I am a moderate user.
The display is also the highest battery user on mine.
I always recommend a reboot every 3-4 days, Press and hold the upper edge power button about 20-30 seconds, ignore the 3-2-1 timer and hold until the screen goes black and you see the red LED.

  • Z30 Battery Drain

    Hi,
Was just going through the topics posted about BBM being the cause of excessive battery drain. Battery only last 4-5 hrs. I am facing the issue of PIM services using 49 to 52 % of CPU. Tried settings for manually sync and not syncing other folders. Deleted and reloaded email account. Was looking for some advice for stopping this excessive usage of CPU by PIM services.

My Z30 did the same act a few days ago but it was resolved automatically in about 2 Days . Since how long is your Z30 doing this issue ?

  • BB 8830 - new and battery drains in less than 8 hrs

Just received a new 8830 and battery is draining in less than 8 hrs with no voice usage, only data. It appears as the BB is constantly sending and receiving data? I have done a soft and hard reset and do not have any programs other than the standard that come with the BB.
    Thoughts?

You may be experiencing a known issue, we also experienced. Basically what is occurring is when end users perform an email reconcile with BlackBerry Desktop Manager, it's changing the folder ID's to be 5 digits instead of 10. This in turn is causing the amount of OTAFM traffic that you are currently seeing, exhibited by constant network activity on the device and resulting in rapid battery drain.  Have your support team contact RIM and refer to the SDR, and RIM will provided an agent to fix the problem. Alternately, the user's folder structure can be deleted on the BES state database, but before either solution is attempted, end users must turn off email reconcile from the device & Desktop Manager as this issue we reoccur if they do another sync. As I understand, SDR147879 is targeted to be resolved within BES version 4.1.5.

  • Z30 battery draining

Hi all, it's the first post
    I bought a new z30 nearly a month ago,
A couple of days ago I updated the os to the last update 10.3.1.1784. As soon I did reboot the z30 begun to heat.
In 5/6 hours the battery dry. I need a help!

Hi and Welcome to the Community! Assuming you've waited the customary 48-72 hours to let things "settle", then the most common thing to do after an update that results in issues is to perform an OS reload. Sometimes, the update processes have errors and such...with a reload often curing the issues. The official methods, which will be controlled as to what exact OS versions you are offered:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-Functions-and/How-to-Reload-your-Blackberry10-O...The unofficial methods, which are cleaner, and allow you to choose an OS version that perhaps your carrier (or whoever it is controlling your offers) has been slow to approve:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using...http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-leaked-beta-os-f395/bb10-os-archive-943672/Of course, before you start any of this you will want a good backup via LINK, a manual copy of your Device Memory to your PC, and full documentation of your configuration (account credentials, added apps, configurations, etc.). Sometimes, restoring from a backup returns to the device the very corruption one needs to eliminate, and reconfiguring from scratch can resolve that. You also will need to learn how to tell the difference between the actual OS version and what is called "Software Release". Refer:Article ID: KB23393 How to find the model number and OS version on a BlackBerry smartphoneFor the official methods, SR is what is primary. But for the unofficial methods as well as discussions here, it's the true OS value that is meaningful. Good luck and let us know!

  • Is my new phone battery draining to fast when surfing the web???

I had/still have problems with my iPhone 3G and the 3G network. To make a long story short, i was given a new phone and the problems have not been fixed.
However when using safari or GPS or any surfing activity on my old phone i could get anywhere from 4 1/2 to 6 hours battery life when using a heavy amount of safari(i use the phone 75% of the time for that alone) weather and stocks, and a few texts and calls and other features. I could get through the day easily when unplugging it around 8 in the morning and didn't have to plug it back in until night.
The new phone seems to drain much faster with very similar use. The only two things i can think of is a tad more GPS and a lack of a strong signal because i was on vacation on marthas vineyard(not a whole lot of service on half the island, lot of signal searching). I notice the battery drains very funny also.
I can get like a half an hour usage before a blip comes off the battery indicator and sometimes i can get an hour. But those will follow up in the second hour draining to like 25% remaining. I can get between 2-2 1/2 hours before my 20% warning comes up. I was used to like 4 1/2 hours before the warning.
I looked online and saw that my new phone was actually similar to some time tests for surfing the web, my old iphone was alot of things, but it wasn't a battery drainer. So im wondering if my new phone is having a problem or my old phone was a "special" phone.
Just wanna know before i contact apple.

If you are surfing using 3G it will drain the battery faster than on EDGE. If you have WiFi on while you are searching using 3G/EDGE the battery will drain faster so turn it off. Signal hunting will also drain it a bit faster. Since you have a new phone it will take a few battery cycles before you see the true charge life of the battery.

  • New iPhone battery drained by preinstalled Flashlight

The Apple store installed a new battery on my iPhone 5S last week. That did not fix my four to five hour battery life problem. I have followed every article out there on turning off location services, getting rid of Facebook app, etc.
But I found today when I checked "Battery Usage" under Settings: General: Usage: Battery Usage that the culprit is "Flashlight."  It states that my iPhone was battery was used 36% of the day by the flashlight preinstalled app that is on the pull-up menu. It is not an app I installed and I don't know how to get rid of it.
FYI - this is not a problem FROM updating to iOS 8. I have updated, but this problem existed prior to the update.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks! Ashley.

Flashlight from IOS do not use battery unless you switch it on.

Double check that your Network settings are how you want them as after an upgrade they have a habit of changing.
On my Verizon phone it redefaulted to Global which really burned my battery instead of limiting it to LTE/CDMA, once I changed it back battery life was back (or better) than previously.

  • After new update battery drains in minutes. Mine and my wifes. Both iphone 5.

After latest update our phones last 2 hrs max. Did a factory reset no change. Also having issues with wifi connections.

You should get your phone checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or an Apple Store, in case this is hardware related.

  • Z30 Battery Drain still dramatic, even after OTA update to 10.3.1767

    Hi,
I am really annoyed. Since the first OTA update my Z30 runs for 6-8 Hours on standby. When in use this even goes down to 4 hours. With the software 10.2 which came with the device I had over 24 hours standby.
I cannot use the device anymore and I am highly frustrated. I do not have a PC to fumble around with downgrades, leaks and what you have. I own an old macbook as PC and BB Link is causing the Macbook to crash.
Now there has been an update OTA, but nothing has changed.
No - I do not use any Android apps, no whatsapp or the like. I just use the phone as a phone and I use the browser apart from camera and music.
So what shall I do. Send in the device to O2 as RMA case. I am a full-hearted supporter of BBRY and am involved in certain QNX development projects, but this situation pisses me off completely. The device is unusable as it is now and ifn this is not going to change, we will withdraw from BBRY and QNX and will go for the competition.
    Pretty bad, all this.

Do not leave your customers in the dark, if other customers (whole fleets) are experiencing the same desaster, your support will become a nail in the coffin.
O2 is referencing to you, you give  unapplicable advice and I am the fool."

I got my new iphone 4 white 32GB today and the battery drains quicker than it should

So based on that you're saying around 6 hours discharge? That sounds about right if you're on the web using 3G. Games and apps eat up the battery faster.
    Talk time:
Up to 7 hours on 3G
Up to 14 hours on 2G (GSM model only)
Standby time: Up to 300 hours
    Internet use:
Up to 6 hours on 3G
Up to 10 hours on Wi-Fi
Video playback: Up to 10 hours
Audio playback: Up to 40 hours
Knowing what you were using it for would help

  • IP4S Battery Drain Was 8% hour.  Restored As NEW PHONE Via iTunes Battery Drain Now 1% per hour!

RE:  iPhone 4S rapid battery drain out-of-the-box.
I had been experiencing a battery drain of 8% per hour.
Apple's software update did not make it better!
I then restored my iPhone 4S as a NEW phone and now my battery is draining at 1% per hour with all settings at maximum for battery drain.
Apple could have done more to make millions of customers happier customers.

Thanks for sharing.  Restoring the phone first from backup then as new is one of the standard troubleshooting steps outlined in the User Guide.  Too bad more people like you don't realize this.

Iphone 5 battery drains rapidly, I have turned off apps and location even purchased a new battery, is anyone else having this problem? If anyone knows how to fix please let me know. I've tried the hard reset and nothing works.

There was a run of bad batteries for the iPhone 5. Apple will replace them if your phone qualifies and you haven't tried to fix it yourself. See: iPhone 5 Battery Replacement Program - Apple Support. Unfortunately, you may have disqualified yourself if you tried to repair it yourself.
However, rapid battery drain is only rarely caused by a bad battery. A bad battery is usually diagnosed by a battery percentage that jumps randomly. See this for advice: http://www.overthought.org/blog/2014/the-ultimate-guide-to-solving-ios-battery-d rain

  • Plugged in my new iPhone to charge before letting battery drain to 0%. Did I ruin it?

I plugged in my new iPhone 6 to charge before letting the battery drain to 0%. It was at about 86% when I plugged it in to my computer to restore everything from my previous phone and then left it to charge to 100%. Will my battery be ruined because of my failure to let it drain before charging it? Pls help!!

You aren't supposed to let it drain fully before charging it - in fact, repeatedly doing so can damage the battery.
Charge it whenever it is convenient for you. Try to avoid running it all the way out unless necessary.
Apple does recommend running it out about once per month, and you can also run it to 0% if the battery gauge seems to be incorrect.
