Hey all, sorry about if I missed this post while searching. But I've been longing to see beautiful album art with my new ZEN player but my embedded ID3 information doesn't seem to show up while playing. Now I was fiddling around with ZMXplr without noticing features or results to solve my album art craving. Please S.O.S creative mods/kind people.

Suggestion for renaming new Zen 4GB/8GB/1

Just bought myself a new "Zen 4GB". I think Creative should rename it to "Zen Paperclip". Seem i
need to reboot it several times (7 times in 2 days). Talk about product quality issues. What
a waste of $30.
No mention on the box either that it doesn't support UMS - how many media players out there don't
act as a mass storage devices these days. Even my old 3rd gen ipod can be mounted on my Linux box
as a disk and i can copy files onto it and play. Maybe even "Zen Microsoft" as a name ?
My wife's calling it the "Zen paperweight" - it's too light for even that job...
Off to the Apple store.. The new iTouch looks nice. Well it doesn't have a SD slot, but that doesn't
work too well according to this list, and no radio, but i can browse the web, and have a lot more apps
soon, maybe even internet radio.
Bad Creative, bad..

I was not comparing a 4GB model with a 8GB iTouch which is their base model iTouch. So there's only $00 in it if you compared 8gb with 8gb. Plus you are looking at much better features and stability on the apple (or so my friend tells me). Half the so called features on the Zen don't work very well, and i'm not the only one. Look at this very forum.

I told you. I have one, and it doesn't support UMS. You cannot plug it into a Mac or Linux and see the device. You are limited to MTP support only ! If you give your player to someone else who doesn't have the MTP driver installed in windows it will NOT work as a plain storage device. Try it before you respond.
And no i don't disconnect it while it's docked when it decides to crash/hang. Even if i did i'd consider it a bug in the firmware nevertheless.Message Edited by terraforma on 0-4-20072:46 PM

New ZEN 4gb video conver

hey all. would anybody know?what free converter to use on the new ZEN 4gb model?

If your player wants to convert the movies one more time after you already have converted them with super, and you know that it'ss the right resolution, just past them into the "picture" folder of your Zen (click browse and pictures) and the message will not appear. It just asks you if you want to send them to your "movie" folder instead. Click yes.
It works great. Been using it on some episodes I got on my HD of heroes and the quality is very nice.
The only problem is that I can't FF or RW a movie. Nor can I continue to watch a movie if I turn my player of. Hope they will fix this in a firmware update ASAP

Zen (4GB): Album

Hi everyone! I've just got a Zen (4GB) and have been trying to get my Zen to display album art. So far, this is what I've done: . I've uploaded the song through Window Media Player , after tagging the song with the album art via "Advanced Tag Editor".2. After syncing, I played the songs and tried to access the album art of the song by pressing the "Ok" button twice, but there still isn't any album art. Is there some step that I've missed out on Would be grateful for you help! Cheers!

Try to use Mp3Tag - http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ Limit the size of the album art to 200x200 pixels. If you have the album art bigger than 200 pixels it won't display anything, try to resize it to 200. I guess it will help you a little bit. I also have 4 GB Edition.

I got my new Zen 4gb: Had frozen 2 times in 48 hours

I just got my new zen. I'm a bit worried about those white screens of death. So far, it works well. It came with the last firmware installed, i think that this Zen is one of the latest batch.
Here my question... The fact that this Zen is one of the latest batch make it less propense to white screens of death? Did creative solve the problem of the white screens?
Also, in tho days it had frozen 2 times. I had to restart it with a paper clip. Is that normal?

The "White Sreen of Death" is really caused by a hardware problem. You see, the internal MPU 3700 MP3 processor has to write to the LCD. If this operation is prevented by internal electronic opens or shorts, bad 3700, bad LCD or any other electronic component failure then the CPU might/will halt and refuse to write to the LCD which will be reflected in a "white screen of death" I cannot cover all the causes of the "white screen of death" but rest assured Creative should pick these problems up in their quality control manufacturing process with a 99% success rate. Problems do show up after the manufacturing process but Creative has warranty protection for this other % fault rate. (Which is normal in electronics manufacturing)

Answer: No - Try the "recovery mode" and do a clean-up and reboot.

Zen 4Gb album picture problem

after I've upgrade my computer to Win7, I cannot use Zen media explorer to import album pic any more, how can I do that again?
I've try using other software like mediasource or the zen starter pack, but the problem still don't solve.
What can I do?

Yes, you can mark out and?hide the particular folder you wanted.Yes, there is a password to protect all your hidden folders and do unhide them, you will need to enter the password.Password can also be changed within the player itself.

New ZEN 4Gb - Are the buttons supposed to light up?

Just bought a 4 gig for my better half, are the buttons supposed to light up blue like on my Vision M? They look like they are?cheers? Paul

The on/off light does shine blue. But the actual function buttons themselves have?NO light at all is that correct or does it need to go straight back to Amamzon?!

New Zen trouble adding a memory card (not seen)?

0New Zen trouble adding a memory card (not seen)?8I have a new zen 4gb unit and love it, saw it has a memory card slot so i stuck an 8gb sdhc sandisk 3 extreme memory card in there, figured I could dump more fun stuff in there on it but when i use the zen explorer i don't see that card.
I formatted the sdhc card in fat 32 and named it sd4zen yet when its in the zen and i check my computer I am not seeing the card in the windows menus to drag stuff over onto for the zen nor is it showing in any of the zen media explorer areas.
Do i need to dump stuff onto the memory card externally (thru a card reader first) then insert it and access that thru the memory part of the zen menu, or are the zens not able to read from an sdhc sd card or is 8 gb too big (compatability)?

I am a dork, a few mins messing with it i realized in the main menu of the zen with the card inserted hit removable disk and hook up via usb, now my computer sees the sd4zen dri've and i can dump more fun stuff for zen on there...
Sorry to take up space maybe someone will read this and help them with the same issue i was having or mods if you choose just delete.

Brand new ZEN player - always turning itself

Hi, I bought my new ZEN 4GB mp3 player just a week ago. Now it started to turn itself off while I'm listening to music:angry:. When I turn it on again it just continues playing where it stopped. the "turning off" intervall is appr. 5 min.
Does anyone know how I can stop it doing this?!?! It's really annoying!!!!

"the specific service does not exist as an installed service". I have the Zen installation CD in the dri've as requested and all of the required Zen software installed. I checked the Device Manager and found the Zen device as recognized but with the big yellow question mark and the advice to reinstall the drivers. I tried to reinstall the drivers like before and experienced the same problems as before. Note installation failed the first time as I had purchased a faulty player. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the Zen software 3 times and get the same message "the specific service does not exist as an installed service" when the drivers are being installed. Sync manager, of course says "no player connected" all the time. I also have Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 with a host of Creative Sound Blaster releated softare on my system. HELP!!! Lee

Zen 4gb w/vista issu

I'm having some issues getting my new Zen 4gb player to operate correctly using Vista Home Premium 32bit...
Installed the software, plugged in the device, got the standard "ding" sound as usual when you connect a usb device, except that nothing pops up at first, nor does the software recognize it. After checking my device manager, i noticed the player was recognized, but i had to enable it to work. Now i can see the device in my computer, and the Zen organizer software is semi-recognizing it, meaning it sees the device and will let my 'browse' it and transfer files manually, as in dragging and dropping files directly into their respecti've folders, but when i go to 'add media' or other features like 'convert video' it says the player is 'busy or not connected'
the auto-update and sync features are also not working because they are not recognizing the player.
I have tried the player on two XP machines and there have been no issues
so is this a Vista only problem? bad drivers?
anything I can enable or disable for full support?

Zen 4GB Remote Availab

Hi, First post on here. Love my new Zen 4GB but I could do with a remote lead for it. Does one exist that is compatible?

Although it did not specially mentioned its support for the Zen 4gb, it nevertheless works with it. I bought this same wired remote for my old Zen 20gb player and tried it on the new Zen 4gb and it worked flawlessly.

Zen 4GB Volume

I am pretty new to the "new" Zen 4GB player. I've had several mp3 players before, including Zen Touch, Zen Nano Plus and now this Zen 4GB. I find the volume level on this player seems quite low compared to the others. I am wondering if others have this same experience or if I have something set wrong. Even compared to the Nano Plus, volume is probably at least 30% lower with the same phones. [email protected]

Thanks for responding. My version is .2.03e. I have "smart volume" on, and "restrict volume" off. I don't even know exactly what these do. I'm guessing "smart volume" is some kind of volume leveling and "resrtict volume" caps peak volume (I tried this).
When I plug the Zen into my car stereo, I have to turn it to max volume. With normal earphones, I have to use level 4 or 5. On other players, it was down near 0 or so for the same volume level. I realize this can all change due to firmware (as on the Nano Plus, where volume levels were definately changed via firmware). This may be entirely normal....just checking. Thanks again.
