New Zen buttons li

Hi guys,
I just bought an amazing new Zen 8GB. No problem up to now.
Just an information: front control buttons (except on/off) don't light up at all. It's normal?
Firmaware version is .03.04e. Shoul I upgrade to current .3.0?
Thanks in advance.
Bye,
Fabrizio

No light-up buttons on the front panel, FYI ?I don't remember how .03.04e was, but .3.0(e) might be a good idea to update to.. However, read some of the ".3.0 bugs"-threads in the forum first, as some people have had a lot of problems with .3.0(e) and lots haven't been troubled by it at all (like me).

• New Zen 8GB crashed during firmware update; now I can't get it to reboot or connect to a compu

I went and exchanged my "problematic white screen" ZEN 8GB for a new one this evening. When I came home, I attached the new unit to my computer and started to perform the required firmware upgrades. The upgrades downloaded fine, but after the installation started, they seemed to freeze. I waited for an hour before I did anything, but finally had to assume that the update had malfunctioned and would never finish on its own. At that point I clicked "cancel" in the window monitoring the upgrade installation, and thought I could just start the process anew. Unfortunately, my computer no longer recognizes the ZEN when it's plugged into a USB port.
I rebooted my computer, just in case that was the problem, but it still can't find the ZEN when searching for devices to AutoUpdate. As for the Zen itself, I can turn it on and off, but the screen remains black (i.e., no info on screen). If I reset it, the screen flashes the word "Creative" only. If I try to do a Recovery, I can't get any text to appear on the screen. I can't even reformat the ZEN via my computer because they're no longer speaking. I assume that the interrupted firmware installation caused this problem, and that the ZEN just doesn't have enough of an operating system installed to work properly. Is there any fix for this that I can tackle myself Or, is it back to the store to return this one, too I have noticed a lot of white screen flashings as I've been working with the new ZEN, so perhaps this just wasn't meant to be. Any words of advice are certainly appreciated, however.

Same happened to me and I only had the thing a few hours. I may leave it connected overnight to see if the battery needs charging but if nothing happens it's going back. I've tried plenty of suggestions. The Creative screen flashes on when I plug it in but then just sits there. Reseting does nothing and how can you do anything to it if it's not recognised by the PC. Vista did see it before the update attempt. Wondered whether to throw XP back on.
Do I have to resort to the new ipod Nano
OK I've done it. Somewhere on this forum it said to disconnect the Zen from the PC.
Now at the same time, press and hold the play/pause button, put a pin into the reset button and hold down the on/off switch (yes all 3 in that order at the same time). Recovery mode came on and I tried to uninstall the firmware update from previously - it didn't do it but I updated the latest firmware again anyway and this time it worked. I guess the last attempt didn't take.

• New zen vision m mod

Just wondering if a new zen vision m model will be coming out soon? I know it has been out for a while and I am looking at buying the zen vision m but not sure if i should wait.

I tried the Zen Vision and I really liked it. It is basically a horizonal MP3 Player vs the Parallel type MP3 players like the Zen Vision:M. The buttons are fantastic, much, much better than the touch pad on the ZV:M. The display is 3.7" and the text information is very, very crisp and easy to read. However, I did find it a bit darker than the ZV:M. It is translucent, which means that like the iPod you can actually see what is on the screen with the light in the room or outdoors without using the backlight. The ZV:M is just totally dark and you can't see anything on it without the backlight.
There are a few things missing from the ZV, which are found on the ZV:M. Ability to protect and hide folders. 2 colors for backgrounds, but no ability to set a picture as a background/wallpaper. ZV:M has 5 backgrounds and allows you to set any picture you want as a background. ZV: backlight is either on or off. There is no fade down to 0% like on the ZV:M
Advantages of the ZV, user replaceable battery, you can also buy an extended battery, which increases run time by almost double. The port on the side that allows you to download pictures directly within the unit itself. It's pretty sweet, I test it out and I found it worked good. It's a bit slow on larger pictures though. But if you use smaller resolution generally its okay.
Gi'ven what you are wanting, I'd say you really should consider the ZV. It is available in black or white. I got the black one and its kind of a corragated black, so it doesn't show finger prints. However, after getting the black one, I really wish I had gotten the white one. What can I say, I like white.
Good Luck!

• Brand New Zen Neeon Froz

I recieved a brand new Zen Neeon for Christmas. While i was listening to it, it just froze up. I wasn't even touching the MP3 player, so i don' think i did anything to it to make it freeze up. Is there anything
I can do to unfreeze it's

I believe the Neeon has a reset button, have a look for it and then use something like a bent paperclip to press it. Don't use anything sharp.

• My New Zen To

i just got my new zen touch today and i first tired to charge the player with the USB cable but it didnt turn on nor did a battery icon turn on nor did the blue light from the on and off button turn on. is this nomal? i was able to start to charge it with a power source. is this the only way the player first charges? also i have the player charging for about hr and 0mins now and it says my battery is full. should i believe it's or is the icon for full battery also mean something else? i hope my player is not messed up
Thanks

Actually the charging is a little confusing. When the charge indicator goes off (and the screen is blank) the player will actually trickle charge for around another 30 minutes.
Basically for your first 3 charges make sure you fully charge (allow 4 hours) and then discharge the player (through normal use). This will give the best start to the battery. More battery?tips in my Nomad Primer.

• New Zen 16gb in stock @ Amazon UK £189.

Just got an email from Amazon. The Zen 6gb is in stock at 89.99, personally I think its a bit too pricey compared to the 8gb. Even with all the teething problems that the new Zen has. I still love it!!

Hi,
It sounds like your Creative Zen is frozen. Have you tried resetting it's To do this just put the end of a paperclip into the reset button on the bottom of the player. My 8GB Zen occasionally freezes when it is connected to the computer; when it does this the screen goes black and nothing works but the blue light is still on by the On/Off switch.
My player hasn't frozen much recently. I am always careful to make sure there is nothing being copied to the player while it is being disconnected from the computer and I have also performed a cleanup.
Also when you first charge the Zen it probably needs to be charged for at least 4 hours and preferably on an AC adaptor.
I hope this hel
ps.

• Question regarding transfering tracks from current Zen Micro to new Zen V Pl

Thank You in advance to anyone who can assist me.
I just ordered a new Zen V Plus and will want to get all my tracks on it when it arri'ves. My current player is a Zen Micro 5GB and I've loved it but as of late have been having problems with one of the touch pad buttons and, of course, it's out of warrenty. I just found the Zen V Plus 4GB on sale for $59.99 which I feel is a great price point so I bought one. So regarding the issue of getting my music from the Micro to the V Plus, is there a way to transfer from one to the other or would I have to somehow transfer onto my PC then to the V Plus?
Second question I just thought of, Can I use a memory stick(USB Flash Dri've) to back-up my tracks?
Thanks again,
Mark in San Diego

Hi,
You could transfer the music content of your Zen Micro to your Zen V Plus without transferring it to the PC first. Do the following steps:
. Connect one player at a time in your PC (XP O/S) and make sure that both of the player is detected.
2. If Windows have detected it, click on the option Open to View Files.
3. Open up the Music folder of both players.
4. From there, copy and paste whatever music tracks you would like to transfer from Zen Micro to Zen V Plus.
It's a good idea to have a back up of all your data and you could use a USB Flash dri've to store it all.
Hope this hel
ps.

• Blank screen brand new zen mi

I have just opened and charged up my brand new zen micro. The screen is blank! Completely blank. No words, no battery indicator, nada. I've down loaded the software, (version 4.00.3), and I've read through the posts here. This cannot be a contrast problem because I cannot see anything on the screen, therefore I cannot adjust the contrast. I cannot reset the player because I cannot see the menu. I have tried removing the battery holding the on/off switch to on and reinserting the battery but still get a blank screen. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, or is this new unit just defecti've and should I return it's

I charged it for only 4 hours, the blue surround light came on when I plugged it in or unplugged it, did not stay on or flash - never saw a battery indicator at all. The songs that came with it play just fine after randomly pressing buttons
Thanks for your help!

• Brand new Zen 8GB wont start up?

I was all giddy when my cousin got his new Zen 8GB. When we turned it on, the only thing that shows up is a blank white screen. HELP! Whats going on?! If its broken out of the box...thats horrible.

It has been fully charged and i have made repeated attempts with the reset button. The screen is still a blank white.
I have already asked amazon.com for a replacement.
Why is this issue occuring? I have heard it happening to several other new Zens as well. It was depressing to have a brand new mp3 player fail out of the box after waiting for weeks, and hurts buyer confidence in the product.

• I just updated to Firefox 17.0.1 and now I can't click on a bookmark to open it or open new tab when clicking new tab button.

In FF 17.0.1 I have several bugs to mention. I am only able to open bookmarks by right clicking them and selecting Open In New Tab from the drop down menu. I am unable to open a new tab by clicking on the new tab button or by clicking open new tab from the FF drop down menu at top of browser. Also, none button work in FF, such as Home, Back, Forward, or refresh. This is so aggravating!!

After I posted this, I restarted with add ons disabled and it worked..deleted a cpl of addons for compatibility checking and that fixed it.

• Since latest update, every time I start up Firefox the "New Tab" button is gone and I need to re-add it from the "customise toolbar" menu.

I don't know if my settings are not being remembered or what, but the New Tab button is missing each time I open up Firefox.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• When I click on the "new tab" button it does not open a new tab, how do I fix this?

Left clicking or right clicking on the new tab button does not open a new tab. Common fixes have been unsuccessful. I don't know what's wrong. It's a recent problem, and even though I'm using an older version of Firefox this hasn't been a problem before.

Try uninstalling the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and the current version of Firefox.

• When I click on the "Open a new tab" button, nothing is happening. I've checked my settings but everything is fine, what's wrong?

Just a couple days ago all of a sudden the "Open a new tab" button wasn't working and even going into "file" and then "open new tab" it doesn't open a new tab. I have to go into my bookmarks and right click "open in new tab" for any new tab to open. I've checked my settings and nothing is there about it. Is there anything that I can do to fix it?

You're welcome

• New tab button doesn't open up new tabs, help please?

When trying to click the new tab button that lies beside your last open tab, the button highlights and acts like it's working, then when clicked nothing happens.

This issue can be caused by the Ask.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)
