Newb here has been put in charge of a small company network. Need help!
I'm new to ARD, but well versed in Macs and OSX. A friend's family has a small company and the head honcho uses ARD to monitor the other Macs at the office from her iMac running 10.6.3 there at the office, as well as from home using another iMac and a Macbook Air. I was asked to help and am well paid to figure out ARD for them. They booted their last IT guy, by the way. So the boss's Macbook Air and her Office iMac are the Administrators, and the iMac at home is the client. All machines running 10.6.3 and latest ARD 3.3.2 Admin and Client s/w.
For whatever reason I can only control or watch the office iMac from the iMac at home, and cannot access the home iMac from the office.
For the record, the Macbook Air does not have this same issue, but I've yet to tackle it.
When I double click the office iMac from the Home iMac and look through the tabs, I am told the Client s/w on that office iMac is an old version.
I have read the white papers and watched the Apple videos. This just doesn't make sense!
What is going on? Any hints? Please......
FIXED! However........
The home iMac "supposedly" has a fixed IP address. Well, it wandered a bit apparently so there was a small change at the ISP that threw everything off. I looked into an email sent from that machine's user and displayed the long header to get the IP address of the home iMac. I then entered that new IP address into ARD from the office iMac, and BAM, works like a charm now!
What I can't figure out is why the ARD on home iMac says the office iMac is running 10.5.8, when it is running 10.6.3 and it also says the office ARD client is 3.2.X rather than the actual 3.3.2 it is indeed running. Weird?
Any ideas? Maybe everything will update once I use ARD from the home iMac into the office iMac?

DDNS: DDNS has been disabled........Need help figuring out error message
Already set up nannycam (Cisco WVC80N). Fowarding connection from port 80 to 1024 on router which is same as camera port. Have populated all necessary fields (email, TZO Key and domain name. Received Routers External IP Address, however when saved I receive following error message:
DDNS has been disabled
Bad Authentication - Username or Password - check setting and try again
I cant remotely connect to camera's server via my domain.

Open the setup page of the camera. Go to 'Options ' in the left panel. Enable the Alternate web port and port 1024. Save the settings. Make sure that you have entered the correct TZO settings.
Now open the port 1024 on your router for the IP address of the camera.
Check the Internet IP address on the router. Who is your Internet service provider? -
Ipad 2 - battery has fully discharged - connected to mains charger but no sign of charging and will not retstart on button press.
Tried re set and holding both buttons independently.
Tried other chargers taht are working with other iPads.

Most likely it has suffered hardware damage in which case you'll need to take or send to Apple and pay for replacement, either under your AppleCare+ plan if you purchased the plan or by paying Apple's standard out-of-warranty replacement charge:

Somehow my iTunes app has been put into the trash. How can I get this and all of the stuff that was in it back to my Application folder? I try to drag it out of trash, but it won't work.
Also, when I do try to drag it out of the Trash to put it back into Applications (on the Finder sidebar), it asks me to authenticate with the administration password. I enter it, and then a window appears saying that I can't do that because I do not have permission to modify iTunes. Please help.

I cannot send or forward email but I do receive mail OK. All of the same settings work on my wife's IPhone and our Ipad. All are running on IOS 5.0.1. I get a message of your email has been put in your outbox because the receipent "%@" does not allow relaying.
Try deleting the mail account and setting it back up again.

I have a iphone 4s, it died and has been on the charger for the last two days and still wont turn on. How can i fix this???? condition of phone is not the best and was having issues staying charged to begin with but never NOT came back on. I have an Apple MacBook on which Lion 10.7, plus all updates, are successfully installed.
Can you tell me if TechTool Deluxe, normally supplied with Apple here has been now tested and found to run successfully?
I have run the program to check a problem that I'm having. The particularly with video, and also volume structure. TEchTool Delux reports a failure for both of these components.
I am wondering if this is realistic or not, given the start-up screen for TechTool Delux mentions on start-up that it has yet to be tested fully with Lion?

I suspect not, hoever, seeing I am running Lion, I am not sure at all? If you can answer this question it will help as then Imight be able to solve the problem I'm having.

During CS5 master collection update on Windows 7, 64-bit laptop, I get the error "There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later." This has been happening for the past few days. Can someone help me getting my updates?
Since CS5 is from 4+ years before the Cloud, this is not the right forum... but I don't really know a correct forum for that very old product
Have you tried to manually update the individual programs?

Calendar on Mavericks MacPro has been non-functional for hours, with small screen saying "Moving calendars to server account..." How can I restore its function?
Sorry. I found some other advice that solved the problem ere I saw your response.
The advice was:
Go to Finder. Holding "Option" key, find Library in "Go" pull down menu. In Library. Select Calendars. To desktop, drag all files with the word "cache." Then go to Preferences (still in Library) and drag to desktop "com.apple.ical.plist". Restart. Now Calendar is working perfectly, and rechecking under Library, the caches files and the com.apple.ical.plist that were dragged to the desktop have reappeared in Calendars and Preferences.

Too many people are flooding Apple's servers, everyone is having this issue, try every so often, or wait until tomorrow.

I can no longer create new folders on my desktop. The option to do that is now light gray on the drop down menu and can't be selected.
I cannot drag new items onto desktop any longer either.
The Desktop in Finder opens with Terminal.
Folders and items on Desktop open and work normally.
Not sure if this has anything to do with upgrading to Mavericks but I need help if anyone has ideas.

Sometimes the problem may be solved just by logging out or rebooting. Try that first, if you haven't already done it. Otherwise, continue.
Select the icon of your home folder (a house) in the sidebar of a Finder window and open it. The Desktop folder is one of the subfolders. Select it and open the Info window. In the General section of the window, the Kind will be either Folder or something else, such as Anything.
If the Kind is Folder, uncheck the box marked Locked. Close the Info window and test.
If the Kind is not Folder, make sure the Locked box is not checked and that you have Read & Write privileges in the Sharing & Permissions section. Then close the Info window and do as follows.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You should get a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”). Quit Terminal.
Relaunch the Finder.
If the problem is now resolved, and if you use iPhoto, continue.
Quit iPhoto if it's running. Launch it while holding down the option key. It will prompt you to select a library. Choose the one you want to use (not the Desktop folder.)
