[newbie] about the ABAP trial

Hi all,
I have some little questions about ABAP trial that must sound like newbie questions ( that's why I tagged the title like that).
I would like to know if the trial contain all I need to train in ABAP devlopment such as workbench, sm30, Data Dictionnay, and tools needed to be efficient as an abap technical consultant ?
My second question is about the time limit of the licence ?
IS there a restriction or can I use it as lon as I wish ?
The goal for me is to learn technical points to improve my skills and I have no opprotunities to  do it daily in my work.
Thanks a lot for help,
Regards
Morgan

Hi Morgan.  Yes, the NetWeaver Sneak Preview system includes everything that you need to learn ABAP, it includes everything on the technology layer, so you will be good to go.  The license is good for 90 days, but it can be renewed indefinitly every 90 days, so a couple days before your 90 days is up, simply go get another licence and apply it.

  • How to install IGS for the ABAP trial version SP11

    Hi,
Please can anyone provide me with the steps to install IGS for the ABAP trial version SP11.
Which version of IGS to download?
What are extracting the SAR files what steps should be followed?
    Please advice,
    Thanks,
    sam

    Hi Rich and Sam,
here is some kind of how to guide which hopefully contains all steps you need do perform.
    Best regards
    Matthias
The IGS consists of a directory structure under DIR_INSTANCE/igs (containing folders and configuration files) and executables and libraires under DIR_EXECUTABLE. These excutables and libraries are available on the Service Marketplace in archive igsexe.sar. This file has to be extracted to DIR_EXECUTABLE.
On the Service Marketplace you also find the file igshelper.sar which contains the above mentioned folder structure that must be extracted to DIR_INSTANCE. Normally this comes with a Web AS installation.
Afterwards please go to DIR_INSTANCE/igs/conf and rename the files gfwchart.tpl, xmlchart.tpl and bwgis.tpl to gfwchart, xmlchart and bwgis, see notes 531668, 596825 and 1011372.
To include the IGS to the start of the system you have to add the following to the start profile:
    Start internet graphics server
    IG = $(DIREXECUTABLE)\igswd$(FT_EXE)
    Start_Program_03 = local $(_IG) -mode=profile pf=$(_PF)
Normally parameter _PF is defined as absolute path to the instance profile. If not use the absolute path instead.
To enable HTTP administration you have to add the instance profile parameter:
    igs/listener/http= 4$(SAPSYSTEM)80,administration
HTTP administration access was disabled by default with patch 4, see note 959358.
If your system is a Java only system you must deactivate the RFC listener with the instance profile entry:
    igs/listener/rfc=disable
For using the IGS with Web Dynpro Java you must define the IgsUrl according to note  704604. After a system restart the IGS should be up and running.
You can test if the IGS is up and running with the link http://localhost:4$(SAPSYSTEM)80 or in an ABAP system via report GRAPHICS_IGS_ADMIN.

  • I want to try elements 11.  Can you talk to me about the free trials.  I downloaded apps., but need help. Thanks

    Hi,
I spent the better part of this morning finding Adobe/Photoshop elements 11 tutorials.  I wanted to try changing faces on group pictures.  I downloaded what I thought would work.  Now I need help finding out if this "elements 11" is included with what I downloaded so that I may try to use this feature.  Please talk to me about this.

First of all, this is the Photoshop forum, not the Photoshop Elements forum:
    Photoshop Elements
Second, the version currently available from Adobe is Photoshop Elements 12.
What did you download, and where did you download it from?

  • ABAP Trial version u2013 starting the application server

    Hi,
I have a problem starting the application server via the management console. After choosing action ->start I have to enter user and password. Do I have to create a new user password combination, use the OS password or try bcuser and minisap? None of these three options worked out. I always get the message 'Start failed: 2 Invalid Credentials'. Or went there something wrong during the installation?
    Thanks for your help.
    Birgit

    Hey Birgit,
In my case I installed ABAP Trial version (also known as MiniSap) on my local machine (Windows).
When I turn on the machine, my Windows(OS) requires a User/Password (It was configured this way but it is possible you configure to not require a User/Password, it uses a default).
When I instaled the ABAP Trial version, I logged on with a User/Password with administrator rights (it is necessary for installation).
When, in the "Management Console", I start the ABAP (the "NSP" node), it asks me the user and password and I use the OS User/Password that I used to install ABAP Trial (above).
If you are doing the same I don't know why the message "Start failed: 2 Invalid Credentials".

  • BI 7.0 works fine in SAP ABAP trial 7.01 with IDES 4.7 as R/3 source  pt 1.

    Hi all
text doesn't format properly on the Forum anymore -  split into 2 bits to make it readable.
    Hi all
For those interested in running BI 7.0 on their OWN laptops etc the trial abap 7.01 works fine -- don't
download the latest version (sr1) as it takes AGES and is very resource hoggy. Also you'll need to
change some parameters in the start up on the latest version as it doesn't have enough paging space so a
load of transactions will dump. The trial 7.0 (NON SR1 version) doesn't have the problems.
What I've done is the following
    1) create 2 virtual 2GB W2K3 server virtual machines on a HOST Windows 7 X-64 machine (8GB RAM). If you
don't have 8GB RAM then make your VM's 1GB - they'll just about run or use two machines (bettere) on a
LAN say a laptop and a desktop.
    2) install IDES (SJ1) on one of the virtual servers (I'm using IDES 4.7 as my R/3 system as it has the
PI content enabled) and the ABAP trial (NSP) on the other server.
    3) install the FULL SAPGUI  (7.0) on  either host machine - doesn't matter which one - use the one
    you'll do your work from.
You need the FULL sapgui - not the one supplied in the trial as it will dump when you try and create a
BI Transformation on the ABAP trial machine - there's a litttle piece missing.
    4)  create RFC connections between the two SAP systems - use IP address or hostnames. Client 001 is the
client on the ABAP trial where BI is installed. On the IDES clients 800/810/811/812 are available --
take your choice -- most use 800 I believe.
added  2nd part on next post

    Hello James,
It is fentastic for the solution u hav given.
Can u pls confirm me that We can Install ECC & BI on Win Server 2008 Enterprise R 2 Version  as well.
1)I mean does Win 2008 Enterprise R2 can be used as OS to be installed for the 2 VMs for BI & ECC.
As u mentioned that "W2K3 server virtual machines on a HOST Windows 7 X-64 machine (8GB RAM).".....................so Instead of W2k3 does it support W2K8 Server Enterprise R2 as well?
    2) Also if It does not support W2K8 Entrprise R2.....................
Does it supports W2K8 Ohter Lower Releases like Instead of Enterprise..., Premium...so on...??
    3) Can u pls specify the W2K3 Server OS details like , can we Install on Enterprise W2K3 64 Bit R2 as well, or any lower relases of W2K3 mailnly 64 Bits??
Looking for a tinely reply .....
4)Can u pls just summarise the Sptewise H2Guides Listed in Order for each OF THE BELOW:-
4a) Set of Downloads needed a1) All the SAP 4.7IDES....4rm SMP , just the URL & the Expansion Paths & the List of Revised Names.as the Names for each of the Sw COmponets might hav changed..........Just list wil do
              a2),MLA drivers , a3)Java 1.4.x [URL] to downloard from ,
a3) Any other steps required for Setting up Intial Environment like ,Java Invironment Variables set up,JAVA_GOME, commands to check whether        JAVA was installed or Not?, like use javac in CMD to check it,Ram set up in the VMs, any other BackUps if needed..........
a4)How to enable W2K3 Back Up Or restore points creation,
a5) Disablling Unnecessary Processes not required fro R/3 4.7 in the VMware,
a6) Other s/w needed fro BI like MS-Office 2003{Preferble}, a7) Any other S/w needed for complete R/3 + BI Installation
4b) Min Space requirements for BI[ABAP Trail--80-120GB], R/3[80-100]GB, create partisions
b1) All the steps needed for BI [NSP]...Please route me to the Right URL...........that set,but they hav not highlighted the Port settings/Host File settings to work with Web /GUI.
b2)  All the steps needed for R/3....
Please just route me to the Right URLs + any additional Points required for each of the above steps...........complete End to End.........in one Acreen Answer.
To avoid repetitation Or clustering Pls just mention the URLs for each of the above...........
    5) Any alternatives for Using instead of IDES 4.7 + BI ABAP 7.0 Trail..............can we try for ABAP Trail 7.2 + IDES ECC 6.0 Ehp5 on VMware...........with WinServerr 2008??............This wil be an Extended topic for the current one??

  • SAP Netweaver 7.02 ABAP Trial Version (64 bit) - Installation Error

    Hi Experts,
I'm running into a runtime error during phase 9 of the ABAP trial installation (Create Database Instance).  The error message from the logs reads:
An error occurred while processing option <i>SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 2 > SAP Application Server ABAP > MaxDB > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step :Error during execution of command identifier 'DB_ADMIN' : <DBMException -24994 ERR_RTE Runtime environment error

    Any suggestions on possible solutions?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply.   I'm running windows 7.   I enabled all the RPC rules for the windows event log from the windows firewall advanced security settings but am still unable to view the event log to determine why the NSP is stopping unexpectedly.
The message in the sapinst_dev log file below shows that the event log wasn't opened due to the RPC server being unavailable.  Any other suggestions on why this may be happening?

  • Client Copy on SAP NetWeaver ABAP Trial

    Hi all,
I've installed the ABAP trial from SDN and it works fine. In my leisure time I want to get some basis know-how. I bought the great book from Frank Föse, Sigrid Hagemann and Liane will about the system administration of an ABAP system. Now I want to try the client copy, which is described in chapter 5.2.
I have already created a new client with TCode SCC4. Now I want to copy client 001 to client 100, there I should login to client 100. I tried it with user SAP* and password minisap and password PASS as well, but it doesn't work. Isn't it possible to copy clients in the trial?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Best Regards
    Marcel

    Hi Marcel,
1 In an empty client there are no user master records. To be able to log on you have to set login/no_automatic_user_sapstar to 0 and restart the instance. That will activate the built-in user sap. In your other clients sap probabely has a user master record and will exist regardless of the parameter setting.
2 The windows share I mentioned is not a subdirectory but a network share. Go to D:\sap in windows explorer, rightclick and select sharing. Share the folder as "sapmnt".
3 You can edit the instance profile file with a text editor to add the login/no_automatic_user_sapstar parameter. If your installation is in D:\sap the path will be:
    D:\sap\ SID \SYS\profile\ .
The name of the file you need starts with that SID again. For some reason unknown to me the parameter did not work when it was appended to the file but did when put in the middle.

  • Latest ABAP trial SAP 7.02    Installs fine BUT Please note  following:

    1) It works fine but DO NOT use  JAVA JRE 1.6  -- installation will fail at about 9 Hours on som esystems  (yes 9 hrs) on the 2nd last step of ABAP IMPORT.
    2) ensure you set the system paging file to at least 8 GB
    3) SAPGUI needs to be installed from the SAP_GUI_FOR_WINDOWS_720_PL3 folder    NOT SAPINSTGUI.exe file.
    4) For getting ABAP WEB DYNPRO to work follow the instructions in the guide on this forum  - I've lost the link but it's a PDF file called STEP BY STEP configuration for running WEBDYNPRO in SAP NETWEAVER  7.01 SR1 SP3 -- it's the same as for this version of the abap trial system. - ENSURE PARTICULARLY the HOST NAME AND HOSTS FILE instructions -- do this AFTER you've installed the system.
    5)  I set mine up on a laptop as a W2K3 Virtual machine having 2 GB of memory  (Main laptop has 4GB RAM).
Took around 9 Hours to complete so run it overnight.
Once it's up and running it's not too bad -- my host laptop is running Windows 7 X-64.  (You CAN install on W7 or W8 server -- either the 32 or 64 bit versions). . I prefer this stuff on a Virtual Machine M then I can move it to other computers without any problems.
For ABAP developers this new version has some good features to test and of course you can play with WEB DYNPRO for ABAP.

Here is my dbm file (...the end of the file to see the error).
My user is assigned to SDB Operators.
If i try to start the service manually the system says that service it has been started and stopped because there is nothing to do... any idea ?
    Thanks in advance

  • The question about the HA installation on ECC6.0

    Hi Experts,
We are about to implement a project with HA environment on the ECC6.0 in the near future, which is just about the ABAP stack. After reading the Installating Guide, I stil have several questions related to the procedures of HA installation.
In the guide document, I got the following steps to process for realizing the HA of ECC6.0:
    1. Run SAPinst to install the central services instance (ASCS) using the virtual host name on the primary cluster node, host A.
    2. Prepare the standby node, host B, making sure that it meets the hardware and software requirements and it has all the necessary file systems, mount points, and (if required) Network File System (NFS), as described in Preparing for Switchover .
    3. Set up the user environment on the standby node, host B. For more information, see Creating Operating System Users and Groups Manually. Make sure thatyou use the same user and group IDs as on the primary node. Create the home directories of users and copy all files from the home directory of the primary node.
    4. Configure the switchover software and test that switchover functions correctly.
    5. Install the database instance on the primary node, host A.
    6. Install the central instance with SAPinst on the primary node, host A.
7.If required, install additional dialog instances with SAPinst to replicate the SAP system services that are not a SPOF. These nodes do not need to be part of the cluster.
My Question is that does standby node(host B in above context) need to install the ASCS, database instance and Central Instance?
If host B does not need to install the database instance, how about the whole system would be when the primary cluster node (Host A in above context) totally crash, such as power failure.

    Hi Rong,
I would try to explain it in simple words...
My Question is that does standby node(host B in above context) need to install the ASCS,
    database instance and Central Instance?
If host B does not need to install the database instance, how about the whole system would be when
the primary cluster node (Host A in above context) totally crash, such as power failure.
    1. You don't need to install ASCS on Node B. You are installing it using a VIRTUAL HOSTNAME which represent cluster not individual node. VIRTUAL HOSTNAME is assigned to cluster package, so whichever Node is the owner of the package, will have the VIRTUAL HOSTNAME. (it will switch with cluster switchover)
    2. It is actually a cluster package configuration magic. When Node A is active, cluster package owner is Node A. So all mount points (which is on SAN disk) is mounted on Node A. When you switchover the cluster, those packages will be mounted on Node B.
Some time single cluster package is used (which includes mount points for SAP instance + Database directories). You can also use 2 cluster package seperating SAP and Database directory structure.
Only OS related directories should be on servers local disk. All other application related mount points should be on SAN disk which is configured in "Cluster Package". (For example /sapmnt, /usr/sap, /oracle etc.)
You only need identical users and their enviornment settings on both Nodes.
In simple words, When primary node fails or crashed only users and thier enviornment setting will be lost. On second node, because of identical users and their profiles, same settings will be available to bring up the SAP system. Your all SAP and Database data is intact as it is on SAN Disk.
I hope, your confusion is cleared now...
    Regards.

  • Java Trial AND ABAP Trial

I succesfully installed the Netweaver 2004s ABAP Trial.
Now I want to also dig deeper into SAP Java, especially Web Dynpro Development.
What am I supposed to do? Can I download and install the Java Trial in parallel with the ABAP Trial? Can I run them both at the same time for example to access ABAP function modules from Java via RFC?
And what's that SAP NetWeaver Application Server, Java EE 5 Edition for? The Java Trial already comes with an app server...
Sorry for being stupid, I'm a SAP ABAP business programmer for many years now and am confused with all that system administrative wording...

    Hi all
I have no success install ABAP and JAVA testdrive on same server. What versions have you installed?
I have installed the abap testdrive 04s SP11. All seems to be ok.
Now i try to install SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version SP9 on same server, but I get some warnings and errors:
