Newbie at Work!

This is the most basic of questions (I think). I'm learning
Dreamweaver MX on a Mac (OSX) and I'm noticing when I set up an 800
pixel wide page with a 200 pixel column and a 600 wide column, it
looks great in Dreamweaver but when I preview the page in Safari or
Firefox, the 2 columns look all most the same width. Is there
something obvious I'm overlooking?

Newbie question: working with note durations across measure breaks

Hi, I'm a newbie with Garage Band. Last night I was entering some music as a software instrument, using the editor in both musical notation view and the other view (where the notes are solid rectangles). I'm having problems with note lengths. When I enter an eighth note, I want it to stay an eighth note . But when I copy-and-paste them, they don't start at the right place and the duration gets strange.
I also had a lot of problems ending a 4/4 measure with an eighth note (on the "and" of beat 4) that should be tied to the first note in the next measure. I couldn't do this easily. I finally switched to the non-music notation mode, and dragged the right side of the note across the measure boundary, but with that, I couldn't get an eighth note, it would only go for a full beat in the next measure.

So, when I expect to add a quarter note (actually it should be notated as two tied eighth notes), instead I'm getting a dotted quarter note (appearing as an eighth note tied to a quarter note).
As I said, musical notation is not directly tied to the duration of the notes. So before you add that last quarter note, the display is perfectly musical. Now when you add the last note, the display switches and displays the notes differently. I just tried it out, I can add that note in the notation view (you might want to put it on the 1 of the next beat and then drag it to the left a little).
Most experienced GB users don't bother to use the notation view for editing, but use the "piano roll" view which gives you a lot more control about how the notes sound. Then let GB do the job of displaying them - you don't have andy influence on that anyway.

TCL newbie: it works in TCLSH, how to invoke from a button?

I've gotten a couple of simple TCL scripts to work as intended from the IOS TCL shell using:

I'd like to associate each script call with a (different) DN.

Best way for an SAP newbie to work towards SAP BW + HCM

Hi, I am looking to be a part of a SAP HCM analytics group however an completely new to SAP. I would like to know what would be the best way to learn it. I am a Software engineer by profession however have not worked with SAP before. I have purchased a SAP Netwearver BI book from SAP press and have gone over various components of SAP BW, however not having a system to get my hands dirty learning is a challenge. Also from a functional perspective i have no experiance with HR and hence that is another challenge I am trying to work against. You help is appreciated.

Ya as I was typing my message I realized I probably wasn't going to need the .net connector since I want a very generic service that basically just hands off the payment details to SAP.
As for what is going to consume the webservice ideally it would be independent of the type of SAP being used since potentially serveral different SAP installations would be able to access the service.
For the first version I am making the service be consumed by SAP Netweaver 7 Trial version. My company has a few clients using SAP lined up already to use the service once it is working but I don't know yet what version of SAP they each run.
If that is not possible I will either have to make a separate webservice for each type of SAP or else go another route and perhaps send the data as xml to SAP and let it import it on its own.
Right now I am playing around with the SOA manager, is that where the SAP PI is or am I on the wrong track.
I'll keep posting to this thread as I go along so someone in the future doing something similar can benefit.

How do I keep a paragraph on one page?

Hi,
I have FrameMaker 10 and Windows 7 and I'm a newbie, having worked with InDesign. I've reviewed the answers in the forum that include instructions about the paragraph designer, but those solutions, such as keep with paragraph, orphan lines, etc., don't help.
Sometimes when I'm typing, the next line jumps to the beginning of the next page even though there's plenty of the current page left. I guess I must say that this happens when I'm typing into a document that also has material following. This material usually seems to be an anchored frame. I've looked at the anchored frame parameters, tried every option, and still I'm stumped. Right now I'm using a workaround; a paragraph style with a font of one point that I insert where necessary to force things to stick together. Otherwise, my broken line often travels below the anchored frame. BTW, when I backspace before the line, more material from the previous page jumps down, instead of that piece of sentence being backspaced back up.
Also, in Indesign it's very easy to size content into the frame. In FM I'm always shift-dragging to picture after import, to get it to the size of the frame. Is there a better way to do this?
Also, is there a way to change the defaults? I never want the frame to be cropped but the checkbox is checked and I have to uncheck it every time.
Also is there a keyboard shortcut for getting a page break to the next page? The popup is very annoying. I don't even know what 'wherever it fits' means; doesn't a page break mean, the next page? And how can I get the default to change to 'next page' or better still get rid of that box altogether?
There is no symbol for a page break, so what happens if I want to remove one? Does this happen automatically if a break is no longer necessary? Maybe this is connected to my paragraphing problem?
I hope you experts out there can make some sense out of my questions. PLEASE help, these things are driving me crazy!! Thank you so much in advance.
PS This also has nothing to do with master pages or the template; I'm working in a very smooth template that was prepared by experts. (Luckily.)

This is probably not the answer to all your questions, but I am sure it answers some.
Unlike Word and InDesign, FrameMaker's anchored frames, which hold graphics, "hang" from their insertion points, typically at the end of the paragraph. An anchored frame that follows a paragraph is set to be below the line, the line being the last line in the paragraph. If you turn on View > Text Symbols, you will see a marker that indicates the point from which the anchored frame is hanging.
If the anchored frame is taller than the available space, it is moved to the next page ALONG with that last line. If the paragraph style/tag has a widow/orphan lines number that is more than 1, then that number of lines are also moved to the next page, because the paragraph tag says to keep that many together, EVEN if there is space at the bottom of the previous page.
So, you can set the widow/orphan lines number smaller OR as you have done put a blank line before the anchored frame, which now holds the marker for the anchored frame, and set its font size to 2 pt (the lowest FrameMaker allows) and its line height to zero. This is the standard workaround UNLESS you use the line above the anchored frame as the title/caption of a figure, which is also a typical way of dealing with FrameMaker's ways.
To my knowledge, one cannot change the default of the checked cropped box. Maybe others know of some way to change this.
There is no page break in FrameMaker, hence there is no symbol for it. In the paragraph designer for the paragraph, you set to Start of the paragraph to Top of page. Top of page is FrameMaker's equivalent to a page break. To "remove" a page break, set the Start of the paragraph to Anywhere.
Since you are new to FrameMaker, I suggest reading throught the User Manual that comes with FrameMaker. You will likely find the answers to most of your questions there.

Ritesh,
Looks like you are trying to deploy to a remote host called h11 and the host cannot be reached from this workstation. Can you please try to ping h11 from this and whether you get a reply ?
Another possibility may the Oc4J server is not up when you are trying to deploy this apps.

Background color missing

I'm a newbie just working on the Adobe Dreamweaver tutorial.
It instructs me to go to modify>page properties> click on the
background color box and select black (#000000). I did this and the
background color is still without color. When I open the page in
Safari, the black color is there in the background. It also is in
the code.....
I also tried this before only with a large background image.
It would not appear on the page in Dreamweaver but was in the code
and showed up when I opened it in Safari. Please advise. Thanks so
much!!

Apple Server 4.0.3

I am a newbie here working with Apple server. I am in the file sharing area and working on propagating. My server has recently been updated to the Version 4.0.3 with a Yosemite OS and my computer clients are Mavericks OS (except for 2 that are the Yosemite OS..testing the waters). Anyways, I made an error when propagating a student. That then challenged me to go back and correct the permissions on each student so that they could save in their folder. Students can now save their work in their folder BUT cannot export PNG images in a from an animation that they created in the application Hyperstudio to their folders. The same PNG images can, however, be exported to the downloads file on the client computer and then transferred to the student's file on the server. My question is WHY can the students not directly export the PNG animation folder to a student's folder on the server but they can save a Hyperstudio stack into their file on the server? FYI as an admin I can save and export.
Another funny thing, on the 2 Yosemite client computers the students can't save or export, but I can as an admin account. I do understand that admin accounts have more permissions.

Try to find a way of reproducing the crash; that is, of making it happen. Without that, only very crude troubleshooting is possible.

Best upgrades to speed up Motion?

Hi, I'm a motion newbie, mostly working with templates and stuff like that.
A lot of these templates use a huge amount of power.
Right now I've got:
Nehalem 2.66 GHZ 4-Core
8 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeoForce 8800 GT
... From watching the activity monitor when rendering big Motion and FCP processes, the bottleneck does NOT seem to be either the processor (usually at below 150%) or the RAM (usually 4 or 5 gigs free at any time).
.... Am I then correct in thinking that the only thing that would be make a difference be to upgrade to the ATI RADEON 4878?

The ATI 4870 card will made a difference. You could try waiting for Snow Leopard to appear, and by all accounts it not that far off, when there is 'supposed' to be better graphic drivers available for the nVidia based cards, like the 8800. But if you need it now, the go for the 4870. Good luck.

Best way to JOIN with OWB 10.2

Hi Gurus,
im a newbie in working with OWB and i also apologize for my englisch. I have the following Issue. Im using Oracle warehousebuilder and i want to load data in a new Table as Table3 from two distinct source table Table1 and Table2.
It should look like this: Table3.col1 = Table1.col2 ; Table3.col2 = Table1.col3; Table3.col3 = Table2.colb.
I mean it is a kind of JOIN but the column from Table3 have to be just the same as the column from Table1 and Table2 and no other combination.
Table1 : col1 | col2 | col3
Table2: cola | colb | colc
Table3: Table1.col2 | Table1.col3 | Table2.colb
Can someone help me?

The problem is that you are trying to model a query that requires something more than a simple join as you seem to hope..
Joining based on simple table row order is not something relational databases are really designed to do well. They join on values. For example, if you simply try to write basic SQL to make your join you discover the problem:
select t1.col1, t2.colb
from   table1 a,
         table2 b
where a.rownum = b.rownum ;What you get is an ORA-01747 error as the rownum psuedocolumn is not valid in this context. But if you don't find a way to join on roworder you get the crossproduct - which is NOT what you want.
The simplest pure SQL join to get your results as described in your sample data is:
select a.col1, b.cola
from   (select rownum rnum, s.* from table1 s) a,
         (select rownum rnum, t.* from table2 t) b
where a.rnum(+) = b.rnum;but this only implies a possible one-way outer join to meet your described data sample. If you want a full outer join to handle the possibilities where either table could have more or less rows than the other, then
select a.col1, b.cola
from   ((select rownum rnum, s.* from table1 s) a
         full outer join
       (select rownum rnum, t.* from table2 t) b
       on (a.rnum = b.rnum))Now, clearly this is NOT going to me modelled as just a simple join in OWB. First, you need to find a way to add the rownum pseudocolumn to both table result sets in order to be able to join on them. For example, you could use an expression object for each table, dump all of the fields straight from the expression input to the expression output, and then add a rownum column to the output as well. Then join the two with a joiner defined as full outer join on the two rownum fields and map the required columns to the target table.
Or, you could create a view:
Create or replace view table1_And_2_outer_join as
select a.*, b.*
from   ((select rownum rnum1, s.* from table1 s) a
         full outer join
       (select rownum rnum2, t.* from table2 t) b
       on (a.rnum = b.rnum))And use that view as the source object in your mapping.
Or create two views:
Create or replace view table1_with_rownum as
select rownum rnum1, s.* from table1;
Create or replace view table2_with_rownum as
select rownum rnum2, t.* from table2 tAnd then use the two views as your sources and join them together using the joiner object defined as outer join on the rownumber values.
Any of those three options will get you what you seem to want.

Question: How to dynamically create multiple rows in a table together

I'm sure this is obvious to a seasoned person but I'm a newbie (just working with Forms for 1 week).
In the snapshot below I'm trying when I hit the Add button I'd like the two rows below the header in the table to replicate themselves below in the table.
Eventually there will be many rows to replicate. The problem is that I can't find a way to group these and then reference them by the javascript in the "add button" so that they replicate together.
any help/pointers etc. are much appreciated.

You can only add 1 row at a time .....so if you want to add three rows then you would have to run the command three times.

32K limits stops loading OEHR objects

Hi,
I have a newbie at work wanting to learn APEX and so she has attemtped to upload an install the sample objects OEHR. The problem is that the 32K limit on SQL is smaller than the provided script. Seems a little silly that the script is larger than maximum size but there you have it. I have tried some simple cut up the script but cut points are not so obviouc - any ideas - does anyone have a pre cut version etc.

@Scott: I think he is trying to import the script with SQL Worksheet, which has the limit of varchar2 with a size of 32K in PL/SQL....

Getting the max count for each group

Hi, I am a newbie and working on a project for school. I have been working this problem for a couple of days and made a bit of progress.
I have two tables, student and enroll for a college database. I need to show the students who have the most enrollments in each major. So far, I have:
