Newbie having trouble with iCloud

Hello-
I was at the Verizon Store today for 3 hours trying to learn the basic of the iPhone 5. There is a lot for me to learn, but one day at a time. For some reason I was able to use my iTune sign-in info for an App that required it and I can sign into apple.com/support and apple.com to get to the forums, but when I try to sign into icloud it keeps telling me that "Verify Your Account" This apple IDs email address cannot be verified. Change your Apple ID's email address at appleid.apple.com to sign in to iCloud."
If I change my iCloud email address will this mess up me being able to sign into iTunes and the other places I use my Apple ID?
Is the Apple ID the same as the iCloud sign-in information? It says under iCloud. Apple ID and Password. I have tried it literally 30 times and it still will not sign me in.
should I change my Apple ID or does anybody know what the hang-up could be? Occasionally I have had an issue signing in to apple.com/support where it has said you cannot use an email address, but I click sign in again and it signs me in. I have had the same apple ID and password for years with no issues really until I got this iPhone and tried to sign into iCloud.

I never had this problem.  I went to the apple support page for setting up icloud and it said to use the same info you use to sign into itunes.  I realized that one had my email address as minus the @gmail.com and one had it added at the end. I just added it to the one that did not have it, clicked slect and agreed to the terms and I got an email saying Welcome to the icloud.  then i used what I had already put in the iPhone 30 times and this time it accepted it.  therre were so many people at the Verizon store trying to figure this out.
It asked me now if I want my contacts and all to go the the Cloud? I selected Yes, was that the right thing to do?
So what does this allow me to do now because it obviously did not affect me getting into iTunes or the App Store like the support article said it should.  the article said it is BEST to have the same Apple ID for iTunes, Icloud, etc.
It is now saying 5 GB Free and under that payment information.  Does sending the stuff I clicked Yes to cost?

    I am using iCloud for all of my mail.  I use it on iCloud.com and also with iMail.  I use it for my iPhone, iMac and MacBook Pro.  For the past three days I have been having a terrible time receiving email from my personal friends.  I can get email from commercial entities like DirectTV, Facebook, ASPCA, etc. but nothing when my friends try to email me.  I have spent several hours on the phone with Apple advanced tech support but it's still not working and I am supposed to call them back today.  After changing many settings, the tech told me it might be a corrupt email address and we would completely remove my email address from my computer and type it in fresh which we did.  I then was able to send myself a test email and I did receive that.  I am still able to send and receive to myself.  I then went to my neighbor and did the same thing on his computer with my email address, removed it completely and then put it in anew.  Then I sent myself an email from his computer but it didn't work.  I haven't received the email.  I have asked several people to email me today.  I did not receive any of their emails but am still receiving emails from other entities.  A friend of mine said they are having trouble with iCloud but when I asked the tech, he said he wasn't aware of it.  So, I have no idea if it's something on my computer or if there is a problem with iCloud.  Can anyone help me out?  It's so discouraging.  Thanks much.
    By the way, this problem exists on all my products -- iPhone, MacBook Pro as well as my iMac

    I'm having the same problem, except I'm not receiving ANY email (not even from businesses etc).  This has been going on for a week now.  I had not upgraded my OS, so that cannot be the cause.  It was just suddenly not receiving emails.  I can send, but cannot receive.  I can log in to icloud.com but when I select MAIL, it will not load, and says application not availble.  Today, I opened Mail Preferences and added a email account using my same email address ([email protected]) and it worked fine, gathered all my missing emails.  But it was using the name iCloud instead of my name, and created a new mailbox for all the mail.  I want to use my mailbox I've used for years...so I deleted it.  It was just a test, but don't really know what was accomplished because my original email still does not receive mail. 
    Last week I had sent a msg to Apple Support about the problem, and got a reply...so I think they know there is a problem.  Perhaps they just don't know what the solution is so will not acknowledge the issue yet. 
    I'm still waiting for a solution, too.  Extremely inconvenient, most of us rely heavily on email.

    I am having trouble with ICloud adding songs to my computer.  The only playlist that they show up in is "recently added".  They will not show up in the library or any other playlists even if I try to move them.  I am on a PC with Win7 Pro.

    Try to meka a manual backup.
    Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup>Backup now.

    I was looking into the issue you are experiencing and found an article that may shed some light on the subject. It's called iCloud: Account troubleshooting found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3988
    This section in particluar:
    I get an "Unsupported Apple ID" error when I try to sign in to iCloud from my iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
    Depending on how you created your Apple ID, you may not be able to create an iCloud account with your current Apple ID. If your Apple ID works in the iTunes Store, App Store, Game Center, FaceTime, or with other Apple Services, your Apple ID should work for iCloud. Also, if you created your Apple ID while you applied for a job at jobs.apple.com, your Apple ID should work for iCloud. If you cannot use your Apple ID with any Apple Services, it might not be compatible with iCloud. Contact iCloud Support for assistance.

    You first have to subscribe to iTunes Match through iTunes on your computer and have your music library in iTunes uploaded/matched before you can enable it on your iOS devices (see http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/).  Without a computer you won't be able to use iTunes Match.

    All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

    many "SidebarLarge" entries as necessary. Under each of those there
    may or may not be the need to add "SidebarSmall" entries for
    subchapters.
    I read the help file and figured out I need to do something
    with the optional and repeating region settings, but whenever I try
    I only ever manage to make a mess of the sidebar. Anyone can tell
    me how exactly I'm supposed to do this?

    Why not just make the whole sidebar an editable region
    instead? Then you
    can add as much stuff as you see fit.

  • Newbie having trouble with template highlight (button)

    Stupid question I'm sure, but for the life of me I can't figure it out:
    When using a template, if I change anything at all about the TYPE related to a button, or the size of the button/text group, the corresponding HIGHLIGHT gets freaky. I can't for the life of me figure out how to control where that highlight appears, or even it's size, etc. So I have these beautiful DVD menus that are marred by weird highlight bars--some of them run across two buttons.
    (Yes, I figured out how to make the highlights invisible, but that defeats the whole point of course.)
    Hope my question wasn't confusing. Any help would be wildly appreciated. Thanks...

    Okay, let me pose a theory: Is it possible my installation is having trouble, in other words is what I'm seeing NOT normal?
    Can anyone verify (it would only take a few minutes) my findings? Here are the steps: Create a brand-new project using (just to make sure we're on the same page) the Apple template called "Wedding Classical Index." Next, resize any one of the main elements (labeled "button 1," etc.). OR, change the text to two words, or modify the text size/font. When finished, hit the Simulate button and mouse over the button you modified.
    Does the highlight look normal, e.g., underneath the text, etc., or has it moved to the side of the text, or changed into a vertical line, or worse?
    I just want to verify that my installation isn't being screwy. Thanks to the kind soul who takes a minute to help me out with this so I can move on...

  • I'm having trouble with iCloud email on my iOS devices

    I'm having trouble accessing all of my e-mail on my iOS devices. On the web, and on the desktop computers, all the mail is there. On my iPhone and iPad, large chunks of mail is missing. I'm have deleted the accounts on the iOS devices and re-enabled them without joy. Any other bright ideas? This just started today.

    try this...
    go to settings > Mail contacts and calendars> look below accounts you see a section called MAIL
    Show: "50 most recent messages" you can change this to be more.
    dont know if this will fix it or not so just try iton one of your devices first. if it works, do it on the rest.

  • Having trouble with icloud on my Iphone 4, please help!

    It keeps telling me to accept the new terms and conditions in order to use icloud, but whenever i hit "view terms" it takes me no where. I deleted and signed back into my icloud account twice and shut my phone off twice. I just deleted the account all together but the error STILL POPS UP! I can't get rid of it! Since have everything backed up on my computer so i don't really need it. Is there any way to get rid of icloud and this pop up?

    So, after tinkering a bit bit with everything again I finally got it to work.  For anyone having the same issue as me, here is what I did to fix my problem...
    1) Power everything fully off (router, modem, iPhone, and unplug AE)
    2) With everything fully powered down, wait about 15-30 seconds to make sure everything properly resets
    3) Plug in your wireless router and wait for it to fully boot/cycle to normal operation
    4) When your router is fully up, plug in your AE and wait for it to fully boot/cycle to normal operation (should see solid green light to confirm it has joined the wireless network)
    5) When AE is fully up and operational, plug in your modem and again wait for it to fully boot/cycle to normal operation
    6) Now that everything else has been reset and rebuilt from the ground up, power on you iPhone
    7) When you go into your music player, you should see the airplay icon and can now stream media through your AE.
    ....hopefully this will work for you, though it is kind of a pain to power up one at a time and waiting in between.  Please still post if you know of a more efficient way to accomplish this task!

    I just downloaded icloud and can't figure out how to use it. Iused the Help site and it suggests an icloud icon in the upper left corner but I don't see it. For example, my System Preferences shows "Documents and Data but it dos'nt show up when I sign in to my icloud account. I need help getting this setup properly

    When I had no new mail, and the mail in my outbox hadn't gone out I called Apple Care. Naturally when I was on the the phone with them, the web site let me get to mail, and once I manually took my iCloud mailbox online everything was working.
    Odd that so few people appear to have been affected. The first thing I did this morning was to check some of the Apple news sites to see the normal screams of outrage and found nothing.
    But I appear to be back in business now. Hope you are, too. But still sorry to say that I was glad to hear that it wasn't my imagination.

  • Newbie having trouble with searching for apps.

    I'm an experienced an experienced Windows user, finding myself surprisingly lost on my new iPad and iTunes.
    (Surpising because, although I'm used to dealing with oddball and sometimes frustrating things on Windows,  I had heard the Mac and iPad interface fast simpler to navigate and more frustration free.)
    So please excuse what may seem like dumb newbie questions about what should be, and probably are to you experienced iTunes and iPad users, simple things:
    For starters:
    I'm search for a few apps in the app store that I know for sure exist and know the exact names:
    One is the
    iPad User Guide
    The other is
    the AOPA flight planner app.
    I know it exists because it's installed on my wife's iPad. Can't remember how I found it on her iPad.
    When I use the apps store search box (whether I do it in the app store in the iPad or in iTunes on my Windows 7 computer)
    I keep failing to find them.
    I've tried putting
                           iPad user guide
                            AOPA flight planner
      or even just                AOPA
    in the search box in both environments and clicking the search (magnifying glass) icon.
    I either get a mess of apps with  AOPA in the name (but not the one I want)
    or a message saying the equivalent of "sorry... not found." 
    What the heck am I doing wrong?

    You are not doing anything wrong. Those apps just do not appear to be available any more.
    They will always be available to your wife since she downloaded them and they are backed up in her iTunes Library (assuming she synced it with iTunes since downloading them) but it would appear that anyone else trying to find them will be unsuccessful.
    These are not dumb questions nor are they trivial concerns. The whole digital distribution method has many advantages, but you just ran into one of its drawbacks.
    "Ownership" of software was always a controversial subject, but the way things are going the argument will soon be a moot point... unfortunately.

    I'm a newbie to Flash, and have just started going through

    This is the problem I'm having: In the section "Creating a
    frame-by-frame animation", when I have created the symbols, and
    want to edit them, the Properties Inspector shows that the images
    are bitmaps, not movie clips. Why is this? Shouldn't they have
    become movie clips when I created the symbols, renamed them, and
    saved them as movie clips? Is there something I'm doing wrong?

    Did you have the bitmaps selected and chose "Modify - Convert
    to Symbol" (F8) when you "created the symbols"?
    Or did you select "Insert - New Symbol" (Ctrl-F8)? This would
    of course have created empty movieClips and left your bitmaps
    untouched.

  • All of my apps are gone, and I'm having trouble with iCloud

    Let me preface this by saying that Apple made me change my password a few days ago, before I downloaded the new IoS software. So I synced my music, videos and apps to my PC this afternoon before downloading the new software. I downloaded the software, and now my apps are missing from my iPad AND my PC, even after I synced them. To make things even more confusing, when I entered my new password, it said it was invalid. I entered my old one, and it worked. No apps there. And I tried verifying my Apple ID, I clicked the link and filled out the info, and it said there was already a user with my e-mail. I'm trying to re-access it, and it says it still hasn't been verified on my iPad. What do I do?

    That's because your son's ID was used to make the purchases.  ALL purchases are permanently associated with whatever Apple ID was used to originally obtain them.  Apps can not be updated without knowledge of that ID and, more importantly, its password.  Apple IDs can not be merged and purchases can not be transferred from one ID to another.

    Restore.  Everything is restored except the password.  Note that a Restore can take quite a while.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    When the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad.  Say "YES" and be prepared for a long wait (several hours).  That prompt has a timer and will disappear if you do not respond to it within a reasonable time.  If you leave the computer and return and see that the iPad has only the built-in apps, simply click the manual "Sync" button (bottom right).
