Newbie having trouble with template highlight (button)

Stupid question I'm sure, but for the life of me I can't figure it out:
When using a template, if I change anything at all about the TYPE related to a button, or the size of the button/text group, the corresponding HIGHLIGHT gets freaky. I can't for the life of me figure out how to control where that highlight appears, or even it's size, etc. So I have these beautiful DVD menus that are marred by weird highlight bars--some of them run across two buttons.
(Yes, I figured out how to make the highlights invisible, but that defeats the whole point of course.)
Hope my question wasn't confusing. Any help would be wildly appreciated. Thanks...

Okay, let me pose a theory: Is it possible my installation is having trouble, in other words is what I'm seeing NOT normal?
Can anyone verify (it would only take a few minutes) my findings? Here are the steps: Create a brand-new project using (just to make sure we're on the same page) the Apple template called "Wedding Classical Index." Next, resize any one of the main elements (labeled "button 1," etc.). OR, change the text to two words, or modify the text size/font. When finished, hit the Simulate button and mouse over the button you modified.
Does the highlight look normal, e.g., underneath the text, etc., or has it moved to the side of the text, or changed into a vertical line, or worse?
I just want to verify that my installation isn't being screwy. Thanks to the kind soul who takes a minute to help me out with this so I can move on...

Having trouble with the highlights

I have Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android 4:3
I am having trouble with the highlight feature. When I highlight a word or a sentence Adobe Reader highlights it without a problem yet I cannot see all the highlighted parts of the pdf file as a list. Thus I cannot jump to different highlighted parts of the document.
When I bookmark a page for example I can see all the bookmarked pages under a list so it allows me to jump through.
How can see and jump between all highlights and annotations? Thanks

Adobe Reader presently doesn't allow you to see all the highlighted text at a single place. We have noted down your request, and will update you if it becomes available in one of our future releases.

I'm having trouble with my home button. It works when it wants to. Has anyone else had this trouble?

Try these three very basic troubleshooting steps and see if any of them help.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
This involves using fhe home button but try it anyway .....
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps and restart. If you have multitouch gestures turned on, you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to the task bar.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Newbie having trouble with opt/rep regions

Hi everyone. I'm migrating my site from simple, square html
to nice, elegant css. I've done most of the work, but I'm having
some trouble with templates. Here's an example of how a page
created with a template will (hopefully) look:

I've succeeded in making the article region (inside the white
frame) editable, but I can't figure out how to handle the side bar
menu. It's supposed to contain links to the chapters and
subchapters of the main article, so that clicking there will bring
you to the right place in the page (a simple # link, in other
words). However, the article writer (me) needs to be able to add as
many "SidebarLarge" entries as necessary. Under each of those there
may or may not be the need to add "SidebarSmall" entries for
subchapters.
I read the help file and figured out I need to do something
with the optional and repeating region settings, but whenever I try
I only ever manage to make a mess of the sidebar. Anyone can tell
me how exactly I'm supposed to do this?

Why not just make the whole sidebar an editable region
instead? Then you
can add as much stuff as you see fit.

You will not belive how I accidently solved this - !!!
Yes I had the problem immediately after the 5.1.1 'cloud' upgrade, the problems started (on my iphone 4) ... I followed the 'get power down button, then hold HOME for 30 secs' solution, but no result, nothing seemed to work and I was starting to get a bit agressive with the keep it pushed, multiple double click frustrations, icopybot multigesture solutions etc. and paid money ... but this comedy solution now works ...
I discovered it because I ordered a waterproof case for my iphone for my motorcycle ... I've just fitted it to my iphone and all the problems have gone ??? what! ... so wondering why I looked at what the home button on the casing was doing - it was pressing ACROSS the home button i.e. it converted my finger point into a wider 'PRESS
so taking the new case off, instead of using the point of my thumb to press HOME, I used the flat of my thumb to emulate it ....and initially nothing, so I wondered if it wa making better 'cross button' contacts, so I licked my thumb, wiped it and then tried again! - it worked!
I can't explain it but it seems to work - try it! if the double click on HOME doesn't work lick your thumb dry it and try again! I've just done it again

I haven't but try resetting...
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
Then restart your iPad.
No data will be lost as a result of a reset.

Having trouble with home page buttons

I created a project that has more than 20 states so to accomodate this I used the functionality to create a custom component with sub states. However, I seem to be having a problem with the buttons on my home page (Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, etc). They work fine the first time visiting the home page and link to the first state within each custom component as I'd like them to and as I've assigned in the button properties. However, once a user clicks through all the states within a component and returns to the home page, if they click the button for that chapter again, they are directed to the last state within the component. What am I doing wrong? I have these home screen buttons configured to link to the page that represents the starting point for each chapter. If I try changing the button to configure to automatically transition to the custom component state 1 instead of a page then it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Haven't been able to call due to health issues. Hope to be able to call soon, but tried to move WiFi as much as I can. Upgraded to Quantum, so the WiFi router is connected via ethernet to the main box (if I remember correctly). Then the Gateway device is connected to the router via ethernet cable. Can I just remove that cable or do I have to set it up to be wired? I really can't move the two routers out of our bedroom. Thanks and I will hopefully be able to call within the next couple of days.

Newbie Having Trouble with MaxDate

First let me say that I am pretty new to writing code, so I apologize if I don't use the correct terminology. Now to my issue. I'm trying to write a query that will return several date fields. The problem is that there can be several instances for each primary key, so I want to see the Max Date of each instance. I've googled and googled, but I don't seem to be finding the right answer. Additionally, I have a couple of fields in particular that raise an issue. I have instances where a primary key is showing up multiple times because the Template field can have multiple entries. I can't seem to figure out how to write the code that only pulls in the Template value of A in the event an A and C are present.

Anyway, your design is wrong:
The problem is that there can be several instances for each primary keyThat is NOT possible. A primary key is a unique value. It is impossible, if you create the PK properly, to have more than one instance. So, you probably mean something else, but ask this in the SQL forum.

Newbie having trouble with searching for apps.

I'm an experienced an experienced Windows user, finding myself surprisingly lost on my new iPad and iTunes.
(Surpising because, although I'm used to dealing with oddball and sometimes frustrating things on Windows, I had heard the Mac and iPad interface fast simpler to navigate and more frustration free.)
So please excuse what may seem like dumb newbie questions about what should be, and probably are to you experienced iTunes and iPad users, simple things:
For starters:
I'm search for a few apps in the app store that I know for sure exist and know the exact names:
One is the
iPad User Guide
The other is
the AOPA flight planner app.
I know it exists because it's installed on my wife's iPad. Can't remember how I found it on her iPad.
When I use the apps store search box (whether I do it in the app store in the iPad or in iTunes on my Windows 7 computer)
I keep failing to find them.
I've tried putting
                       iPad user guide
                        AOPA flight planner
or even just                AOPA
in the search box in both environments and clicking the search (magnifying glass) icon.
I either get a mess of apps with AOPA in the name (but not the one I want)
or a message saying the equivalent of "sorry... not found."
What the heck am I doing wrong?

You are not doing anything wrong. Those apps just do not appear to be available any more.
They will always be available to your wife since she downloaded them and they are backed up in her iTunes Library (assuming she synced it with iTunes since downloading them) but it would appear that anyone else trying to find them will be unsuccessful.
These are not dumb questions nor are they trivial concerns. The whole digital distribution method has many advantages, but you just ran into one of its drawbacks.
"Ownership" of software was always a controversial subject, but the way things are going the argument will soon be a moot point... unfortunately.

Newbie having trouble with keyframes

I'm a newbie to Flash, and have just started going through
the online tutorial here:

This is the problem I'm having: In the section "Creating a
frame-by-frame animation", when I have created the symbols, and
want to edit them, the Properties Inspector shows that the images
are bitmaps, not movie clips. Why is this? Shouldn't they have
become movie clips when I created the symbols, renamed them, and
saved them as movie clips? Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Did you have the bitmaps selected and chose "Modify - Convert
to Symbol" (F8) when you "created the symbols"?
Or did you select "Insert - New Symbol" (Ctrl-F8)? This would
of course have created empty movieClips and left your bitmaps
untouched.

TS3274 I am having trouble with the operating button on the front of the iPad you have to push it hard to make it work

Their is a problem with the button on front of my iPad it does not work all the time you have to press it very hard to make it work most times any help please

Brand-newbie having trouble with "paste into"

I am teaching myself InDesign using tutorials and just tried to use the "paste into" function unsuccessfully. I have a document with a picture of a dog (a black silhouette) and a picture of a polkadot pattern. I selected and then cut the pattern one, selected the dog, and went to try "paste into" but the option was not available. I rewatched the tutorial and it's exactly what was shown (there was a picture with a pattern that was then pasted into a black airplane photo). Any idea why I wasn't able to do it? Thanks.

This is the video tutorial I watched, if anyone has a minute to check out the part I'm trying to replicate. It is at 7:40. I guess I need to know how the instructor got the "picture" of the plane there in the first place so I can do the same with my dog silhouette. I downloaded an image of a dog and did Command D to drop it in. Forgive me if I'm using the wrong terminology...

Newbie having trouble with iCloud

Hello-
I was at the Verizon Store today for 3 hours trying to learn the basic of the iPhone 5. There is a lot for me to learn, but one day at a time. For some reason I was able to use my iTune sign-in info for an App that required it and I can sign into apple.com/support and apple.com to get to the forums, but when I try to sign into icloud it keeps telling me that "Verify Your Account" This apple IDs email address cannot be verified. Change your Apple ID's email address at appleid.apple.com to sign in to iCloud."
If I change my iCloud email address will this mess up me being able to sign into iTunes and the other places I use my Apple ID?
Is the Apple ID the same as the iCloud sign-in information? It says under iCloud. Apple ID and Password. I have tried it literally 30 times and it still will not sign me in.
should I change my Apple ID or does anybody know what the hang-up could be? Occasionally I have had an issue signing in to apple.com/support where it has said you cannot use an email address, but I click sign in again and it signs me in. I have had the same apple ID and password for years with no issues really until I got this iPhone and tried to sign into iCloud.

I never had this problem. I went to the apple support page for setting up icloud and it said to use the same info you use to sign into itunes. I realized that one had my email address as minus the @gmail.com and one had it added at the end. I just added it to the one that did not have it, clicked slect and agreed to the terms and I got an email saying Welcome to the icloud. then i used what I had already put in the iPhone 30 times and this time it accepted it. therre were so many people at the Verizon store trying to figure this out.
It asked me now if I want my contacts and all to go the the Cloud? I selected Yes, was that the right thing to do?
So what does this allow me to do now because it obviously did not affect me getting into iTunes or the App Store like the support article said it should. the article said it is BEST to have the same Apple ID for iTunes, Icloud, etc.
It is now saying 5 GB Free and under that payment information. Does sending the stuff I clicked Yes to cost?

Newbie having trouble with M-Audio Interface

I'm probably overlooking something obvious, but I cannot get my M-Audio FireWire 1814 to be recognized by my Mac, I've reinstalled the software multiple times and still it tells me that there is no device. (I've been careful not to hot-plug the FireWire connection). Here's my setup: IMac, (running OS X.4.8), Logic Express, M-Audio FireWire 1814, and Korg Trition Studio. I'd appreciate any help.

i don't think that is what the org poster meant. i think they were meaning that he hasn't blown his firewire connection, and that he is letting the m-audio driver load at startup.
i don't think that it had anything to do with m-audio being hot plugable.
