Newbie Help - installing Software

Hi all,
I�m new with solaris - oh, I�m using Sol 10 x86 - and have several Prolems. After successfully mount my DVD (�from wich I have installed the system) I try to install a package (In my special case SUNWsprot and SUNWarc). And there my problems starts ... I cant find any package like this on the DVD... is there any special hint to know? In several discussion a path is called /mnt/product/solaris_10 or similar, but there is nothing like this :-(
Could anybody help?

and the same device in two ways? Unless Sun has changed the way that file systems are mounted in Solaris 10, you should not be able to mount CDs or DVDs without specifying HSFS. I've run into problems with that even in Solaris 9.
Is this eventually the system wich is used to boot
from and start all the nessecary installation
scripts? If I remember the x86 difference correctly, there are one or two more partitions for x86. Whereas SPARC is 0-7, x86 is 0-8 or 0-9 with the extra partitions being the boot area. It's been a while since I've looked at x86 disk layouts, so this might have changed since then.
But what is the difference between the "s" and the
"p" Device? Or is there any documentation? Please not
the 700 Pages of Administration: device and
Filesystem. ;-)What! You don't like looking through hundreds of pages of Sun documentation just to be told to look at the man page for more detail??? :) Besides, the docs are understandably weighted towards the SPARC side of things. There are not a lot of information on the x86 specifics in their docs.
I'm not sure about the "p" part of it, but something seems to be amiss. SPARC-based installs look a cntndnsn whereas x86-based installs supposedly only look at cndnsn.
On the other hand, it's Friday; I'm semicomatose from having gotten a call from Operations at 3 AM (have to love being on-call); and I'm just not totally with it today. So I could be way off base right now. ;)

Your account must have a password. You cannot install software even as an admin user in an account that was created without a password.

Help installing software - who to call when constant failure?

I cannot get a successful activation code for my software. Login is fine, internet is failed and phone system is failed. I wait to be transfered to an agent and then I get the message to check online support. I am typing the correct activation numbers because I am having it played back to me. This is the fourth attempt and there is no live help line to speak to a person.

hi, i face the same problem and appreciate your help. I delted iphone and the library. I reinstalled iphoto from the original application install DVD and when trying to open it I get a failure message. My mac version is 10.8.5 and the install disc is 10.6.6. Help installing PSE10/Premier onto Mac from PC without software CD. I can't find my software box anywhere..... Is there a way to locate my serial number within the programs? AND how can I download the programs from your site- all I see are downloads for the new PSE 11.

You really need the DVD box which also has the serial numbers on the back. If you registered the product you can get the serial numbers by logging-in to My Adobe but that's not much help as only the current version 11 is available for download.

Help: iPod classic, cannot install or de-install software

When I load the iPod CD for Windows, it errors out with "1628:failed to complete installation" but it shows up in my add/remove software section of control panel. When I try to de-install it, it errors out with "internal failure 0x80040707 description" so I am hoping someone can help me either complete the installation or remove the partially installed software. Very frustrating as I just received an iPod shuffle which I cannot download software for because it errors with "this installation cannot directly upgrade the version of iPod software found on this computer. Please uninstall the iPod software and try again." HELP! Thanks!

Some of those error message numbers are a bit of a blast from the past. (especially the 0x80040707.)
Try the following procedure:
go into your Add/Remove programs, and uninstall every entry you find in there called "ipod for windows {date}" or "ipod updater {date}".
if Add/Remove won't let you remove one of those, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to remove the installation configuration of any entries called "ipod for windows {date}" or "ipod updater {date}". (Launch CleanUp, find those entries in the list of programs given in CleanUp, select the relevant entries and then click "Remove".)

Restart the PC.

Trouble Installing Software & Updates, Please Help!

So my problem is installing software. I can download the packages just fine, they appear on my desktop and I can open the installer. The installer will start going along with it's business and finally at the very end it tells me that there was "an error installing software" or something to that effect.
When I try to install updates from Software Update it tells me "Make sure you have permission to write to /private/tmp/501 TemporaryItems com.apple.SoftwareUpdate, then try again."
I cannot find this folder anywhere on my computer, Is this a folder? I don't even know.
Any help or insights would be extremely appreciated!!!!!!!

first of all: WELCOME TO THE DISCUSSIONS!
The directory you mentioned, /tmp/501/TemporaryItems/ exists at the top level of the directory tree, but it is Unix stuff that has been made invisible so that it does not get damaged or trashed. You can do a Finder search for the invisible "private" folder, and in that the "tmp" folder is not invisible, it is just inside an invisible folder. Once you find "private", you can open it by double-clicking its Icon in the Find display. Now you can see the 501 folder. Click on that and you see TemporaryItems.
Now you can click that folder, type Apple-i and change the permissions to yourself.
The different 501 temporary folders are here:
/private/var/tmp/mds/
/private/var/tmp/folders/
/.TemporaryItems/
/private/var/tmp/
In the Finder you could also choose "Go to folder..." and enter the path as I written above.

The replies from here are not instantaneous. But, your fellow users all try to respond as timely as possible.
What is your computer operating system?
From where are you downloading Premiere Elements 13....direct from Adobe as the tryout or the purchased product? If the purchased product, do you now have a purchased serial number to go with the installation files?
Where are you stopped in the installation....at the Sign In or before? Is the faulting module cited in any messages? What are the error messages?
The usual questions:
1. Are you working with the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
2. Are you running the computer programs as administrator?
3. Are you working with a pen and tablet device instead of mouse?
4. Is your video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
5. Are you installing the program to the default location on the Local Disc C (if Windows).
Let us start here and then decide what next based on the details that you post. Subsequent troubleshooting may include:
deletion of the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and/or uninstall, free ccleaner run through, reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.

It sounds like at this point your phone will not turn on. I would like to recommend the troubleshooting from this article named:

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.

HELP..Yoga 13..deleted factory installed software that controls apps

I just got a new Yoga 13, and in my zeal to clean my computer I removed (via Revo Uninstaller) a piece of factory-installed software (app?) that appears to control the other apps, as now I cannot open many of my apps. It sounded like bloatware to me, but I guess it wasn't.
I forget the name of it, but I think it had "Lenovo" and "app' or "apps" in the title (??) and it didn't uninstall until I rebooted my computer. Dumb, I know. I walk a thin line between clever and stupid.
Can somebody please tell me what this software is called, and how (if possible) can I download or recover it without doing an entire system restore to original factory settings?

(Don't worry about verifying) At the bottom of window when the repairs have finished, you will see the “most important thing”: Permission Repairs Complete The privileges have been repaired or completed on the selected volumne.
Restart your computer to confirm repairs.
