I have had very good luck with my 5 year old Think Pad R51...so I hope this little Lenovo keeps me happy. I am a big Mac fan! My family has 4 Mac's, all over 3 years old with practically no "minor" issues. While It would appear that Windows 7 is a winner...I am very nervous, especially on the "Virus" side.... to your home wifi. May I ask are you able to connect to other wifi networks? If
so then please forget your home network again, turn wifi off, reboot, and
retest. If this doesn't work then you will want to reset network settings.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Keep in mind that
this will delete ALL wifi passwords that you have saved.

Newbie here getting started

Hi everyone, I'm just getting started to record my piano pieces to my computer. I have an old Technics SX-PR700 digital ensemble. I want to record music from the piano to my macbook. Here i have some doubts.
I want to record good audio sound as well as able to save the music notation to my computer. So I would need a midi cable right? A midi cable is able to record what notes can be played, but does it able to play actual recorded audio sound from my piano on the midi notes that is displayed on the program Audacity or Garage Band?
If not, I would need a LINE IN cable and a MIDI to do both work..?

However some sales promoters mention that, the common way to get MIDI out to computer is through another device which is the Interface. So i suppose there are direct ways from MIDI to MAC without an Interface right?
I did a google search mention that Interface are used as electronic equipment to Communicate to laptops. So what makes MIDI to MAC without an Interface workable? Same goes to audio recording from piano to mac directly without any interface....
My Old Technics has a Floppy Drive that records MIDI, If i can use a Floppy to record MIDI...then i do not need any cables at all....just need an external floppy drive to my mac possible?

I plan to upgrade from CS5 to the latest version but I have several older versions (software/booklets,etc) that I want to sell. In order to upgrade will I need serial #'s and/or license #'s from past versions (besides CS5)?

There is a benefit to upgrade to Creative Cloud for you get all the new features in ACR and Photoshop. However you also get the new bugs Adobe introduces. And you also need to have several versions of Photoshop installed For Adobe is removing features and changing API so the newer versions of Photoshop have different features and capabilities. Currently there are three versions of Photoshop included in the cloud.
You will not see Old Photoshop Version CS6 getting bug fixes or the latest features of ACR. In fact the Perpetual CS6 versions are different then the Cloud version of CS6.
CS 6 perpetual are version 13.0.6 Mac and version 13.0.1.3 PC these install in two flavors Standard or Extended where extended has features like 3D that are not in the Standard flavor. Cloud CS6 is the full CS6 Extended version 13.1.2 Mac and PC. There some fixes in the cloud version not in the perpetual versions and some Plug-in support has been removed in the cloud version of CS6 but still exists in the perpetual CS6 version.

The answer to this kind of depends on what you both want to do. Apple IDs can be used for multiple Apple services. For example you could both have your own iCloud Apple IDs (which I would suggest), but have only one iTunes Store Apple ID.
So think about how you will each use the iPhones then make your decision. Keep in mind that if you both use the same iCloud Apple ID you will receive each other's texts and emails and all the email, contacts and calendars will be the same.

Instead I (a 14 year verizon customer) have been given the runaround and have invested over 6 1/2 hours in trying to get someone to acknowledge that I an owed 1 GB of Bonus Data on my new phone on our new plan. My wife got hers. I am just venting now as I intend on returning the phone tomorrow (I got it Thursday) and turning around and getting an identical new phone. This was suggested to me as an option by both the Rep who sold my wife her phone and the rep who sold me mine as that way I would not have to contiinue dealing with this ridiculous state of affairs (they indicated that my Free gig request was being sent to another department and that it would be about 7 days befor they get an answer). No I was considerate, etc. The root of the problem stems from the fact that when I went to get my new phone I asked the salesperson if I should sign up for the new plan or if my wife should do it the following day when she buys her new phone (also at a Costco but in a different state). The salesperson said it made absolutely no difference so I elected to have my wife do it. When she did the next day she got her free Gig and her salesperson told her that I need to call in to make sure I get the gig that I am entitled to as well. That's when the runaround started with the first call consisting of me basically advising Verizon of what the promotion consists of, etc.since they insisted that it was one gig per Plan, that there were no exceptions to this, etc. As mentioned they wanted to know where I got the information that it was one gig per qualifying phone. (Both the rep and her supervisor obviously were not aware of how Verizons heavily touted More Everything plan works). They told me finally that I needed to go back to the Costco where I got the phone. I did. The salesperson apologized numerous times to me for advising me that it made no difference who signs up for the plan or when. She then spent over two hours on the phone (with me next to her) attempting to explain to Verizon what happened, how it was her fault, and how I was clearly entitled to the Bonus Gig since I also had a qualifying phone. Finally she was transferred to someone who authorized the Bonus Gig (since I was clearly entitled to it) and who indicated that it might take 24 hours to show up on my new Plan. 72 hours later, no change, and the runaround continues some more. The only reason I even came to this forum was to let off some steam since no one could give me an answer.. It's clear that I am entitled to the Bonus Gig yet the last supervisor I spoke with told me that he could only pass the request on to another department via e-mail (no direct contact, etc. even though I gave him the name and employee # of the Verizon rep who indicated the Bonus was approved) and that an answer should be forthcoming in about 7 days. I was very cordial with everyone I spoke with as I understand that they take their direction from the top. The countless hours I have spent dealing with this situation is something that no-one should have to go through, particularily someone who has been a Verizon Plan customer since about year 2000. Everyone seems to agree that I am entitled to the free gig but no one seems to be in a position to help this customer. Its a horrible way to treat someone. I talked with the original saleslady today and told her I would be in tomorrow to turn in the phone and get a new one along with the gig I was entitled to. She said that would be fine and wouldn't be a problem but that she would be happy to try calling Verizon once again to try to resolve the issue. I indicated that I'm done with wasting time taliking with well-meaning and courteous (and I assume underpaid) employees who I assume are pretty much directed from above that any concessions they make, even if the customer is entitled to them, will reflect badly on their employee evaluations . Good thing I am retired or I would really be worked up. They only way I would consider even talking to Verizon anymore on this is if they were to waive the $60 in upgrade fees my wife and I paid for the new phones. Do they have their show on the internet? The iTunes Help document says,
"If you know the Internet address (URL) of an MP3 streaming broadcast, you can connect to it using iTunes.
Choose Advanced > Open Stream.
Enter the full URL of the file you want to listen to. For example, http://www.apple.com/itunes/sample.mp3."

Hi, a newbie here. I've been playing with java for six month now and it's been pretty fun. Looking forward to learn more about java from this forum. Now I have a question about this little project I've been doing.
I'm currently developing a multi-threaded client-server application (both client and server are multi-threaded). The idea is very easy which is to create threads that send http request to one server which will send back XML to the
corresponding thread.
I've managed to make it work. My application can now make http request and get the XML it's looking for. However, problem occurs when I try this scenario:
1. Client Thread 1 http request> server -> creates server thread 1
I made Server Thread 1 sleep for awhile so Client Thread 1 has to wait for the response.
Then, while Server Thread 1 is still on sleep, I make another http request:
2. Client Thread 2 http request> server -> creates server thread 2
I again Server Thread 2 sleep for awhile so Client Thread 2 has to wait for the response.
Now, Server Thread 1 wakes up and returns the XML response message. Now the funny thing is the Client Thread that accepts this response is not Client Thread 1, but Client Thread 2:
3. Server Thread 1 wakes up -- XML response --> Client Thread 2 reads the response instead of Client Thread 1.
What could be the problem!? What's also weird to me is that, if I try to do this scenario using a browser (by executing http request), the problem doesn't happen. Client Thread 1 returns to Server Thread 1 and Client Thread 2 returns to Server Thread 2.
The code I wrote consist of a thread objects which has it's own private UrlConnection, InputStream, OutputStream, etc.

I thought I had it right by having private inputStream for each thread. but the behavior looks like the inputStream is shared by the two threads. However, I'm still new with java so I know my conclusion worth zero. Has anybody ever bumped into this kind of problem? Looking forward to hear back what you guys think. I'm just really really really curious about this problem

Please use code tags ([code] and [/code]). It's also quite possible the problem is in your server code, or your test jig, etc. You should post a small example that replicates your problem.
Also, the while(listening) loop looks really screwy. I'm not sure what's going on there (why would you wrap your input stream inside a loop, especially since you close the input stream in the loop)?

Hi Ramesh,
As far as I know, users should not get kicked out unless someone terminates their session.
Even if they lock some data and the same data is needed by some job, it's the job that would fail showing data lock. Similarly, if some other uses tries to access the locked data, the user who is accessing later would face the issue of not being able to go to edit mode.
It's possible to write programs that could specifically do this work of kicking out users before we run batch jobs, but let me assume that this is not the case with you.
One possibility is that there is issue in livecache and so users are not able to access livecache or get kicked out from their active session (e.g. your log area gets full, then users would soon get kicked out after seeing the system hanging initially). This you would need to check at the time when users face issue. This would also mean that other processes that need livecache should also fail e.g. GATP, or SNP planning or PPDS planning related jobs would fail at the same time.
If you could share exactly what error message the users are seeing, that could be helpful in resolving the issue.

Alright. I have CS3 and am 'trying' to get used to it. I am trying to do a vintage effect and of course this takes many steps. One of the steps (almost one of the lasts) is to go to Filter>Distort>Lens Correction AND then from there, use the Vignette Slider, etc...
Well, Under MY Filter, there is NO distort, there was in my CS2, so I dunno what the deal is. I used the Help Search and it found the distort under the Edit>Transform>Distort. BUT, the distort is greyed out! I have tried everything. It IS in 8 bit, I've even tried 16 bit... NOT working. The only time distort even comes up is if I go to another 'blank' layer... and of course, I can't do anything with it! :(
so, what do i need to do to get the distort working... it's there, but it's greyed out. Please help. And I don't know if this will give my email or not, please feel free to email me also with your help! :D thanks!

No, but if you really mean that the way you said it, I don't know that Print is the best way to this. If you haven't already, after selecting the images you want to get printed, try clicking the Export button in Book or Library module and then selecting format .PDF. Once you export the file to .PDF, try opening it where you saved it and printing from there, not in Lightroom but in Adobe Reader. If that doesn't help, here are a couple of videos that might--follow their instructions carefully with no shortcuts:
