Newbie - Maybe in the wrong forum....

Okay, I am new and a pc user so please hold your laughter but I am struggling with saving a web image from a web page. Normally, in pc world I right click and save and then insert into my project but I am lost please help!

Can anyone enlighten me?
How did a folder named just "Adobe", containing only something called "Acrobat.com.app"), end up in my root Applications folder?
Double clicking on "Acrobat.com.app" launches an installer that wants to install something called "AIR". What is that and what is it needed for?
What forum should I be posting this in?
A global search and searches in the Acrobat Macintosh forum were not helpful.
Can I just delete that Adobe folder or ignore it? It has identical Creation and Modified dates of January 15, 2010 17:56, which raises more questions than it answers.
Any input will be appreciated.

Maybe… kinda, sorta… There are no ".exe" files in the Mac world.
I've never downloaded or installed either Acrobat.com or Adobe AIR. It has to have been the Acrobat Reader 9.3 update for the Mac that installed that sucker on my Mac. I had certainly never seen it before.
That, on top of the inexcusable, abominably surreptitious "Growl" installed by Adobe behind my back, strengthens my resolve not to acquire any more Adobe products, free or otherwise.
What in blazes are the Adobe corporate folks thinking?

Wrong Threads in the wrong forum

Lately we've been seeing lots of members posting Reports question in the Forms Forum. After noting that they should use the Reports forum for their questions (sometimes even we answer little questions), some of them do repost there but some doesn't. Even after stating it a couple of times.

It is very absurd to allow this, the reports forum will be in idle and the forms forum will be flooded with report questions.
We should find a solution for this, Me personally I don't want to see report threads in the Forms Forum, besides if we let this thing going on, why don't we close the reports forum and use the forms for both products.

Indeed, that's very annoying (to me at least). these people seem so lazy, they don't even bother to search the forums or post the question in the right forum.

Forgive the slight mis-placement but.. I'm looking to move my Mail from my desktop Mac Pro to my Macbook Pro! Can anybody advise the best method that will maintain the current email archive and listings, thus being no change whatsoever once moved to the Macbook?

Not sure what you are talking about? If the post, which I did not see, was posted in this forum (Mail and Address Book) then it was the correct forum. Your saying there was no forum for Apple Mail would probably have not helped get a reply.
The correct and simplest method to move is to transplant both the com.apple.mail.plist file from Home/Library/Preferences and the Mail folder from Home/Library from the one Mac to the other.

Bamboo Tablet Disc Replacement? (This is probably the wrong forum)

Heya,
I got a Bamboo Pen and Touch tablet for Christmas. Unfortunately, I only downloaded one part, thinking that was all that was needed, and then the disc got thrown away/misplaced unintentionally. Is there any way I could get just the installment disc for free/at a reasonable price? This is really important to me. I love to draw and a tablet is the best way to do so.

Which should I download?
You can either download the pre-compiled .ISO that you would burn to a CD and then boot from the CD, or you can download the auto-installer for the USB key. What this will do is format your USB drive, make it a bootable device, and then install the necessary
files. Both do the same job, it's just up to you which you choose, or which you have available (whether it's CD or USB).
Do note that some older generation motherboards do not support USB-based booting, therefore your only option is CD (or Floppy if you really wanted to).
How Memtest works (you don't need to read, it's only for those interested in the specifics):
Memtest uses algorithms (specifically two), namely moving inversion & what is deemed Modulo-X. Essentially, the first algorithm fills the memory with a pattern. Starting at the low address, it checks to see if the pattern was changed (it should not have
been), writes the patterns complement, increments the address, and repeats. Starting at the highest address (as opposed to the lowest), it follows the same checklist.
The reason for the second algorithm is due to a few limitations, with the first being that not all adjacent cells are being tested for interaction due to modern chips being 4 to 16 bits wide regarding data storage. With that said, patterns are used to go ahead
and ensure that all adjacent cells have at least been written with all possible one and zero combinations.
The second is that caching, buffering and out of order execution will interfere with the moving inversions algorithm. However, the second algorithm used is not affected by this. For starting offsets of 0-20, the algorithm will write every 20th location with
a pattern, write all other locations with the patterns complement, repeat the previous one (or more) times, and then check every 20th location for the previously mentioned pattern.
Now that you know how Memtest actually works, it's important to know that the tests it goes through all mean something different. It goes from Test 0 through Test 12, many of which use either one or the other algorithm discussed above, among many other things.

Hi , I may be in the wrong forum here , but here goes ,

I have CC and light room . I use a Mac , and not happy with the new photos on the Mac , is there an app to store /organise my photos , in much the same way iPhoto did where I can edit using CC . The new photos on Mac does not allow this , very frustrating as i shoot in RAW .

We would recommend you to try Adobe Bridge CC for organizing photos if you didn't like Lightroom for arranging them.

What's wrong with the new forum design.

Thought I'd kick off the list here.
1. O.P. can award a correct answer to themselves.
2. Status stays hidden unless checked, making it hard on both newbies and those trying to help them
3. No advanced search (that I can find) I've given up even trying to look, and users aren't even aware of it
4. Difficult to see what you have or haven't replied to
5. Can't see very far back in the threads
6. Huge waste of space on useless quote bubbles
7. Trying to edit your own settings takes you round in circles
8. Where is the forum how-to and guide?
9. Absurd to ask users to search without a suggested list to work from, the Pages iPad users are constantly landing in the wrong forum
10. I hate the default of sending email advisories and Safari messages of answers in the forum. My Mail Inbox is inundated and I am getting constant pop-ups interrupting my work on my Mac.

Penalties for posting in wrong forum ?

Wouldn't it be nice if we could give a penalty (negative Duke Dollars) to those people that post there issues in the wrong forum?

The BBC has a knowledge game show called "The Weakest Link" ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/weakestlink/ ) where players must vote against each other every round until two players remain.
But then again, a forum is not a fighting pit but a place for sharing knowledge.
Maybe this forum is the wrong forum for my post indeed, but I noticed that this forum attracts a lot of wrong addressed posts. (The name of) this forum seems to attract newbies that haven't heard of Generics in the sense of JSR14.

PDF renders the wrong page numbers

Have been trying to convert some word documents to PDF.. The page number in the word is in the format "Page 1 of N, Page 2 of N..... Page N of N".. but after conversion the PDF shows the page number as Page 1 of 1, Page 2 of 2, Page 3 of 3...... Page N of N. Is this a problem with the page number formatting in word or is it something wrong with the PDF convertor? Plz help... this is driving me crazy...

I think for people who want answers to their questions whether OO related or not will probably get a much better response if they post to the correct Forum.
Posting totally non OO related stuff to this Forum not only reduces the usefulness of this Forum to people who genuinely are looking for OO information / answers but also makes it difficult for people to answer your "non OO" question as they are unlikely to be reading this forum.
I'm not trying to be too difficult here but keeping most posts On Topic makes the Forum far more useful to everyone genuinely interested in OO .

$299 for the 16GB White which is what I have and as for contracts it is true must buy a contract. now i have heard of people buying the contract and phone then paying the $200 surcharg to end contract then user void phone by cracking it and go through some other companies this is HIGHLEY not advise considering APPLE will not touch your phone once you do so. your running a HIGH risk of errors and I dont even think iTunes will recognize it will it?. and tamara up there $1680 for contract fees *** is that i walked out of store with 16GB White and service for only $389 and first bill with activation charges was only $175, although i do think it is somewhat chincy that you wasnt text need seperate plan phone calls? also need seperate plan. bringing your average mo. price to around $100. **** my WORK phone is only 60 bux a month and has WAY more talk time and texting emails and datat than iPhone Service. I love iPhones safari though. very solid.
