Newbie - My site changes to one long column after uploading to server

I have to create a website to international students in our
uni, but I have never done this before so I decided it would be
better to use a template and change the text etc... The problem is:
In the template (which came with Dreamweaver 8) there is one column
on the left with some links, One wider column in the centre with
space to add an image, and another column on the right, similar to
the one on the left. So I just added some sample text and uploaded
the site to the server to test it. Now when I load the page in my
web browser (

I get no columns but just one long column... Can anyone explain
what I am doing wrong!

For one thing you are using one of the CSS layouts in DW.
Unless you are
very comfortable with CSS and HTML, this was a mistake. Those
layouts are
fiddly and flaky.
For another, it doesn't look like you have uploaded the
stylesheet -

I need help changing settings (port forward?) after a physical server move

Hi! I have a 10.6 server that I use at home. All is well and good there. The Airport Extreme assigns IP addresses for the network. I have www.mydomain.com that runs on the server -- I use it for testing web apps, etc. I use DynDNS with their client app that send the Comcast dynamic IP address back to DynDNS to keep the server on the grid.
My friend has a 10.6 server. He has www.hisdomain.com as a home business. He also uses DynDNS in a similar way. His landlord just informed him that his apartment is going to be sold from underneath him and he has to move ASAP. It looks like he won't have a permanent place for a month or two, so I offered to let him keep his server at my place.
We both run websites on port 443 and port 80.
After attaching his server to my network, his domain name updates, but typing www.hisdomain.com into a browser lands me on www.mydomain.com. I guess that the problem is port forwarding... the router sends all 443 and 80 requests to my server.
How do I configure this so that services for hisdomain.com are forwarded to his server while services for mydomain.com are forwarded to my server?

Short answer: you can't, although there are a couple of ways to sort-of kluge it.
Long answer: When your router gets an incoming connection, the only thing it has to go on is the IP address and port number (the domain name is sent much later, after TCP session with the server is established). So unless you have multiple public IP addresses (and a router that can handle them), or want to put the sites on different ports...
Speaking of which, here's kluge #1: run his server on different ports (e.g. 81 and 444, or maybe 8080 and 8043) and set the router to forward them to his server. Problem: the user has to include the port number in the URL when they connect, or they'll get your server.
Partial solution (and kluge #2): add a virtual site on your server, with the hostname www.hisdomain.com, go to its Aliases section, and add a rule in the URL Aliases & Redirects section, with these settings:
Type: RedirectMatch
Pattern: (.*)$
Path: http://www.hisdomain.com:81$1
Then build an SSL version that redirects to https://www.hisdomain.com:444$1. Problem: when the client connects, they'll get your SSL certificate instead of his (again, it happens before the client sends the domain name it's trying to reach), and get a cert error. No fix for this.
Kluge #3: instead of making the virtual site redirect clients to his server, add a reverse proxy so your server'll transparently forward requests to his server, and proxy the replies. I haven't done this, but I think what you need to do is make a virtual site (as above), and under its Proxy tab (the one under the virtual site, not the one under the Settings section), check the Enable Reverse Proxy box, leave the Proxy Path as "/" and the Sticky Session Identifier field blank, and add a Balancer member with the Server URL "http://hisinternalipaddress" and a blank Route. Or something like that. Again, you could do the same for https as well, but you'll have the same certificate problem.

i am uploading long text for Reason for cancellation in CORS Transaction through CREATE_TEXT.
after uploading this text by using this FM CREATE_TEXT i am seeing the long text what ever i uploaded through CREATE_TEXT , i am unable to see first 40 characters of that long text.
if anybody faced this problem earlier please guide me to resolve this problem.

My "PUT" option, under SITE menu is no longer available to upload my page to the web?

Why is my "put" option is no longer available? I haven't changed anything since I used it uesterday.

I'm sorry, I meant the icon in the Files window, not the File menu.
Click Window > Files, or hit F8 to bring up the Files window. You should have a set of icons across the top of that window. One of them is the Put (up arrow) command.
As for opening a file from your site, I meant, open a page in DW from the Files window of your defined site, like your index.html page, first and see if the option comes back in the Site menu.
If you don't have a proper Site Definition created in DW, none of this will work though.
If you updated recently from a different version of DW, it would be a separate program, not an overwriting program of the old version, so you need to create site definitions in the new version to get your site options.

Spry Tabs are no longer showing after upload

I was just recently finished working on my website and had created a spry tab to use for 4 different forms. Now when I view the page, the tabs are not showing but the four forms are all on one page.
I remember seeing in split view </div> out to the side of my layout in layout view and I thought it was an extra div and deleted it. My guess is that's why my form is no longer showing the tabs.
Any help on where I need to add the </div> back in would be MUCH appreciated.

I removed all the content from each Tab and created a new page and inserted a new Spry Tab to compare the code but I'm still not seeing what is different. It appears that all my divs are correct. Am I missing the obvious?

VPN no longer working after moving DHCP server to router

I am preparing my SBS 2008 environment for migration to Server 2012 R2 Essentials. I moved the DHCP server to the router (a Netgear R7000 with standard firmware). I am able to access RWW and CompanyWeb via the router from external locations.
With the VPN, however, I can only connect but cannot access any network resource (including file shares). The VPN is supported by the SBS server with RRAS. I didn't change any of the configuration because I didn't think any of it needed to be changed. The
router just needs to get it's reservations from a different DHCP server, right? Anyway, would appreciate if someone can shed some light on what's going on here.

App updates no longer disappearing after uploaded

After the new ios7 update, is there a way to clear all the app updates in the App store, before they used to disappear after I had downloaded the app update, now they are piling up and it's getting confusing as to what app has an update and what hasn't!!

Seems to be an Apple problem. Did yo turn on Automatic App updates?

JXTable with long column

I am using JXTable. I have a model class which extends AbstractTableModel. My JXTable has one Long column. When the values are displayed, it display with a comma. For example if the value is 1000, in the table it is displayed as 1,000. But I want to display it as 1000.
Please let me know what should I do to display the field without comma.

Well, that would be JXTable "feature".
The default JTable, does not display the comma. So you need to customize the renderer.

"Publish Site Changes" not working - publishes entire site every time

Hi,
the last few times I've tried to update my site, the Publish Site Changes function no longer seems to work - instead the whole site is created and published each time - taking a couple of hours. Has anyone else had this problem? The changes are pretty innocuous, but this has happened three or four times in a row now. Any ideas on how t fix it?

Are you using iWeb's built in ftp client to upload to your server? Other users have found that using Cyberduck or another 3rd party ftp client that can upload only changed files will work where iWeb fails. You'll have to publish your site to a folder on the hard drive and upload all of the files the first time. From then on, as long as you don't delete the contents of that folder, you can upload only the new or edited files.
Web Site Maestro will do the same and optimize your files for faster downloading as well.

Change Tablespace of a table with LONG column

I have a 9i database that I have just gotten control of. At this point there is just one big dictionary managed tablespace for everything created by users. I am trying to move to multiple locally managed tablespaces with fixed extent sizes but I have run into a problem.
I have one table with one LONG datatype column. Apparently there is a huge amount of work involved to change the code if I make it a BLOB so that is out.
At this point I would like to change the tablespace of this table but I can't move it the normal way because of the LONG column. I have found mention of being able to do this with "COPY" but I can't find any documentation on the "COPY" command in the 9i Docs.
Any help would be appreciated,

Can't you create your new table ahead of time in your new tablespace?
You could then use a statement like:
COPY FROM old/your_password@olddb TO new/your_password@newdb -
REPLACE NEWTABLE -
USING SELECT * FROM OLDTABLE;

How can I change the view in Show Page Source from one long line to a more readable view

When using Develop --> Show Page Source in Safari 6.0.1 I get a view of the html that is just one long line. I can scroll along to the right but it is not very easy to use.
It seems to me that when I first used this feature I had a formatted view, that is the text was broken into separate lines and was easier to read.
But I think I clicked on something and it change to one line. I can't find a way to change it back.
Is anyone familiar with this? Or can point me to more information about Show Page Source formatting?

Oh, I see the problem.
The one long line view only occurs when I'm viewing a page locally on my own computer. (When I choose Show Page Source for any page on the internet the display is formatted normally.)
So obviously if I want to see the code in my own files I can just go open them in the text editor. I used to use View Page Source (previous version of Safari) as a shortcut for a quick peek. If there is a solution to this formatting thing for local files I'd love to know it, otherwise I'll just put it on the you-can't-do-that-anymore list.

Presuming you're referring to Safari 5.1, yes, it's moved, but I don't see it as being harder. Now you can clear all privacy-related items - cookies, cache and history - with one button, the "Remove All Website Data" button. If you want to work with individual cookies, it's still just one button, the "Details" button. So no, I don't see it as being more difficult.

Performance Appraisal - Tabs versus one long form and column headers

Does SAP allow the ability to display the appraisal form in various tabs like one tab each for "Competency", one for "Goals", etc. OR does it all have to be on one long form? If it has to be a one form,
- How can we freeze the column headers so that they are always available on the screen as the manager scrolls down on the form?
- Some columns are applicable to only one section of the form. Can we display the column headers per section of the form instead of at the very top?

Yes you are right.
The main page for the MSS BSP is documents_todo.htm. Based on the event given to this html page, the BSP will call other html pages. To get the info which page will be called, double click on the BSP application and goto the navigation tab.
Here you will find the "start page" "navigation request" and "target page".
For the main screen i.e Appraisal edit screen, the html page name is "document.htm". Also further this page calls the page fragments.
Like "document_header.htm" for header data.
and "document_body.htm" for the appraisal body - think in this page u need to do your coding. like bring the tab function and scrolling stuff.

How do I change the number of columns within a text box? I need to go from 3 columns to 1. The insert column is highlighted and column break does not work for this.

Pages '09 does not seem to allow layout breaks in Textboxes.
Pages 5.2 has the same limitation.
Use multiple linked Textboxes in Pages '09 to get the layout you want or create your layout in a Word Processing template in the document layer.
