Newbie query re. background colour change seen in browsers

Hope that someone can help puzzled newbie!
Website
http://www.cv-expert.co.uk
should have main page background of white & appears OK on my
machine on IE6, IE7, Firefox, Avant (IE6 based) & Bon Echo.
However, when viewed by others some have seen a dark blue
background which renders the whole page almost unreadable.
Any ideas? My first attempt at web site design (CSS) so I
have probably done something both obvious and stupid.
Machines tried so far are all office based and (I guess)
unlikely to be cutting edge - is it possible that I have chosen
colours not supported by graphics card/Windows, whatever?
Many thanks

Sorry, I mean #FFFFFF for background-color

  • Flash CS4 - Background Colour Change Not Changing in Test Movie

    Hello,
    Whenever I change the document's background colour in Flash CS4 and then "test movie", the background colour remains white. However if I publish it the colour will be the selected colour.
    It's not a huge deal since it publishes right, but I'd really like to be able to test my movie with the correct background colour.
    I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.8, and I am updated to the latest version of CS4.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks

    Hey there,
    Could you describe the setup or link a file with the problem?  I can't reproduce the problem with basic fades (obviously they should continue to work when you switch the player).  Is it just in the document you're working on, or all documents you create?
    Thanks,
    Jen.

  • SUS Background Colour Change

    Hi,
    My Client's requirement is to change the background colour of SUS Screen. Do anyone have Idea how to change the background colour?
    Regards,
    Lovkesh

    Hi
    I am not sure, whether this will work in your case.
    Try the option to change background color via SAP GUI Logon...  Or using Settings in Web page...
    Otherwise, If this does not helps, then please consult with SAP by creating a Customer OSS message as well.

  • Why does my footer background colour change when adding a float to a DIV element?

    Bear with me as I am a student learning dreamweaver....
    I am trying to insert a series of 4 DIVs into a footer area with a black background. WHen I insert a float to constrain them to a horizontal position, the black background disappears and the body background shows through. A strip of the footer displays on top of the area where the DIVs are placed. The float works but the problem is with the background colour. It's almost as if the divs have been pushed down below the footer area. I have tried placing my cursor in several locations before inserting the float but it doesn't change anything.
    Can anyone help?

    It all depends on the code you're working with.   In the following example, I applied overflow:hidden to the <footer> element.
    Copy & paste this code into a new, blank HTML page to see how it works.
    <!doctype html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>HTML5 Layout</title>
    <style type="text/css">
    body {
        font: 100%/1.4 Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
        background-color: #CCC;
        padding: 0;
        color: #000;
        width: 1000px;
        margin: 45px auto;
    header {width: 100%; display:block; background: #A5C9C9; min-height: 100px}
    section {width: 100%; display:block; background:#FFF; min-height: 300px}
    footer {width: 100%; display:block; background: #FF9; overflow:hidden;}
    aside {width: 22%; float:left; display:block; margin-right: 4%; background:#D8E9B6; min-height: 200px;}
    aside:last-child {margin-right:0}
    </style>
    </head>
    </body>
    <header>
    <h1>Content for header goes here</h1>
    </header>
    <section>Content for section goes here</section>
    <footer>
        <aside>aside 1</aside>
        <aside>aside 2</aside>
        <aside>aside 3</aside>
        <aside>aside 4</aside>
    </footer>
    </body>

  • Background colour change

    How to change  a background colour leaving the two figures in the centre intact?

    Without seeing the image it's hard to make suggestions.  Even then, there will likely be a gazillion different ways of changing the color of the background.  Are you familiar with adjustment layers?  Masks? Making selections?  Layer blending modes?  I recommend searching around on the internet for some tutorials of these very basic Photoshop functions.  They're the foundation of everything you do in PS.
    It could be as easy as creating a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, moving the hue to something you like, then use the mask to remove what you don't want changed (sometimes it's easier to mask everything and then just add where you want the color changed on the mask).  For other changes you may get the results you want using a fill layer with a layer blending mode.

  • Background Colour Change in Windows IE6

    Hi,
    Have tried to sort this through a CSS forum, but am now
    wondering if it's an application problem. I've got a web page with
    the background colour set as #FEFFDE which is a very pale peach
    kind of colour. I've created a graphic (from a photo) in Freehand
    and given it the same background colour. They blend beautifully in
    IE and Safari and Mac, but in Windows IE the background shows as a
    different colour (pale yellow), although the graphic is fine. It
    looks like the CSS is ok, but someone has pointed out thatn doing a
    screen capture in irfanview from Opera on windows, the page
    background has RGB values 254,255,222 while the background in the
    outer parts of the spiral gif image is 251,251,225. Both have been
    selected using the cross-application colour palette on my Mac which
    still shows as #FEFFDE. Help! I'm pretty new at this so may be
    missing something obvious, but would be grateful for advice.
    Kind regards,
    Steph (NZ)

    The best way to do it, if you are using a JPG would be to
    make a small
    graphic from the background of the JPG image, and use that
    graphic as a
    tiling background to fill the page.

  • Background colour changes

    Hi
    SWF runs OK but on some other PC's the pale yellow background

    Any ideas what may cause this?
    Is it to do with resolution?

  • Why does the colour change from web browsers to CS5?

    Hi there
    I´m running OSX 10.6.4 on a MacPro 2009, 2x2.26, 16 gb RAM.
    Photoshop CS5 12.0.1.
    When I import photos from the web (Safari or Firefox) to Photoshop, the colour changes drastically.
    The only time the colours stay the same, is if I set the colour management to North American General Purpose 2, but this is a setting
    I can´t use. I need to use my Spyder 3-calibrated RGB profile as RGB work space, and I use Fogra 27 or a specific cover art profile
    for CMYK use.
    I enclose a screenshot of my settings and the problems that occur.
    Can someone help?
    All the best!
    Hakon, Norway

    When I import photos from the web (Safari or Firefox) to Photoshop, the colour changes drastically.
    Most of the photos on the Web will be un-tagged sRGB (if they have a tag, an embedded profile, Photoshop (and color-managed browsers) will pick up the profile and display it properly...).
    The short answer is to open the un-tagged file in in Photoshop> Edit> Assign Profile: sRGB
    You may know, the Mac OS applies its default Monitor profile to untagged color, whereas, Photoshop will apply its default Working RGB if you tell it not to manage the document...if you have a wide-gamut monitor and Assign MonitorRGB to an sRGB file, you get an intense saturation boost especially in the reds (is a clue).
    YOU MAY BE WISE to set something like sRGB as your Photoshop Working RGB with these Color Management Policies (to try and figure out what's going on)...
    MonitorRGB equals Photoshop WorkingRGB (as you are set up there) is a disaster for any number of reasons — Photoshop already displays through the monitor profile so setting its Working Space to your monitor profile is BAD workflow for 99.99 percent of the users who setup that workflow...

  • Why do colours change when converting from Word to PDF

    I am converting word files to pdf, however the header and footer background colours change once converted. How can I stop this happening?

    Depends on how you are creating the PDF. If you are using PDF Maker (the create PDF button), then check the preferences in that menu. There is an entry for the settings file selected. If you are printing to the Adobe PDF printer, the settings file is listed under the settings tab of the properties menu.

  • Finder Window Background Colours

    I have recently upgraded my old PowerBook G4 to a MacBook 2Ghz - Black.
    Setting all my preferences finder window background colours, icon sizes etc for all windows is fine.
    I have copied all my image files from the PowerBook to the MacBook, but when I increase the icon sizes for a particular window (selecting this window only) to view image thumbnails better the background colour changes to a bright orange or purple at the same time.
    Does anyone have any idea's, I have thought about re-installing OS X again and starting from scratch, but this can't be needed with a Mac can it????????
    Thanks
    Chris

    I can suggest two solutions:
    1) You delete all .DS_Store files from the offending folders. The files are invisible so it is a bit of a chore.
    Paste this Applescript in Script Editor and run it, then select your folder to remove all the invisible files I mentioned.
    set mountedDisk to POSIX path of (choose folder)
    tell application "Terminal"
    if (count of windows) is 0 then do script ""
    delay 0.1
    do script "find " & quoted form of mountedDisk & ¬
    " -name .DS_Store -delete" in front window
    end tell
    2) Make a new folder and move all your files to that folder.

  • Changing background colour of W995 (when you don't have wallpaper)?

    Hello,
    If i set my phone to have no wallpaper the background colour for the main screen is grey.  Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does anyone know how to change this to black?  I think it was black to start with but somehow it got changed and I can't see a straightforward way of setting it back to black using the Display options because on my phone (W995) there is option here for colour change.
    Many thanks for any help anyone can offer

    What I really want to do is to set the background to black, then have a picture that i've taken in landscape as my wallpaper.  Because it's in landscape some of the background is still seen at the top and bottom and i want this to be black rather than grey.  I'm sure it was before, I just find it crazy that it has changed and there is no easy or obvious way to change it back - especially as the default setting must have been black.  I tried doing a reset of setting but it still came up as grey, even though I had to reset the time and date and so on.
    I wish they just had a menu so you could select a background colour, but it seems that doesn't exist.  Sorry to be seeming so difficult, because I appreciate your suggestions - I should have explained before that it isn't so much that I want a black wallpaper as a black background to put an image on top of as wallpaper.

  • Is there any way to change the background colour in Photoshop Elements 8?.

    Is there any way to change the background colour in Photoshop Elements 8?  There are two options offered in General Preferences, Appearance Options - Dark Grey or Light Grey - but even the Light Grey is much darker than that in Photoshop CS2.  I would like to make the background much lighter.  All advice will be appreciated.

    Thanks for your comments.
    I have seen that the background can be changed in PSE7 by using a slider in Preferences- General;  I don't understand why Adobe didn't keep that facility.
