Yes. The practical limit is 126 drives (you need the appropriate USB hub to do that, of course )

  • Can't connect to USB External

I have a newertech miniStack 500gig external hdd. I plug it in to the APE with USB. I see it in OS X10.5 in the finder, I click to connect to it, and nothign happens. It only worked once. Now it doesn't. I tried connecting to it as a registered user, nothing. I try as a guest, nothing. Help ?

I could never get the Airport Disk Utility to work, either.
I've had success at auto-mounting my shared USB disks on an AEBS by first manually mounting the shared disks in the finder, then dragging the disk I want to auto-mount into the Startup pane in the Accounts Preference Pane. When rebooting, the disks will auto-mount if you are automatically connected to your network.

  • Connect a usb flash drive to an ipad?

How can you connect a USB Flash Drive to an ipad?
I like to watch my photo's and documents everywhere, I have a lot of them so I must use a USB Flash Drive but I don't know how to connect it to my iPad.
    Help my please,
    thanks

The iPad is not meant to have to use a flash drive. It syncs information while plugged into your computer through iTunes. You can sync Movies, Documents, Photos, Music and more.
There is a attachment called the Camera Connection Kit that comes with an SD card reader and a USB plug but it's only meant for importing pictures and using devices such as a USB keyboard and USB headsets.

  • Can I Connect a USB Hard Drive Directly to the IX4-300D?

I need to copy large amounts of data from a USB hard drive to the IX4-300D. So can I connect the USB hard drive directly to the USB port on the IX4-300D?
If "yes", how does the USB hard drive show up in Windows so I can select the file to copy?

    Hi exceptionalht,
The USB ports are intended for external storage devices such as flash drives and USB hard drives. Once you connect the hard drive to the USB port, the device's content will show up as a new share in the Shares page. You should be able to map that share in Windows or have Storage Manager map it automatically.
To safely remove the external hard drive, go to the External Storage page and click the eject icon for that device.

  • Can I use a Usb external hard drive on my macbook pro?

I have a new macbook pro and have tried to connect my usb external hard drive , it shows up on the home screen and i can view and read only i cannot save anything into the external hard drive can anyone help.

Yes. You have to prep it for your Mac. Currently it's setup for Windows.
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

  • IBook won't connect to USB External Hard Drives

I'm having a very strange issue with my ibook.
I have three external hard drives (two of the three can use usb and firewire). If I connect them with firewire they work fine. Same thing goes for usb flash drives and usb devices (mouse, keyboards, ect.), but if I connect a usb external hard drive it refuses to read it. It gets power but it will not appear on my mac .....
Now, I don't know if this has anything to do with it but a few years ago I was dj'ing with one of the hard drives that uses usb and firewire (it was connect using usb at the time). Something happened and the hard drive just stopped working. I thought it crashed at first. Its a western digital and every dj I know who has had a western digital has had it crash on them. I took it home and hooked it up to my pc just to make sure it was dead and it ran fine. Matter of fact I can still use it on my mac, firewire only though. Now no matter what type of external hard drive it is, if I am using usb it refuses to load on my mac.
Any ideas on why this would happen?
Also, the other two hard drives are both verbatim

The best idea I have is that the USB bus in your computer isn't supplying enough power to your devices. You could try picking up a powered USB hub and using that to see if that helps.
Alternatively, reset the PRAM, as outlined here:

  • Can I use a usb external hard drive larger than 2TB?  I have tried to use a 3TB but it shows up as 800GB.

Can I use a usb external hard drive larger than 2TB?  I have tried to use a 3TB but it shows up as 800GB.  Even tred to reformat in disk utility but only shows as 800 gb as well.  It is a Seagate 3TB harddrive and enclosure.  Nothing on the Seagate site about it other than it says Mac os through 10.6 is supported  for larger than 2TB (might be old).

You might have better luck in the Snow Leopard community. I'll ask the hosts to relocate your post.

  • How many devices can I connect over USB to Configurator simultaneously

    Hi,
I am looking for confirmation (preferably from Apple!) as to how many iOS devices can be connected via USB to Configurator simultaneously?
There is one document from Apple which states 30 devices is the limit but we use carts with many more than this which Configurator appears to handle fine. You can also buy carts which accept more than 30 devices from the Apple Education Store.
What I really need is an official document stating the limit or some feedback from you guys on your experiences with Configurator and high numbers of devices!
Any help would, of course, be appreciated
    Thanks.

Depends on your USB hardware....I have had two Bretford 30 unit carts running and while slow will work...Actually in our last deployment I went back to one MacBook Air AC station per 30 cart (4-5 carts per building) as the timing worked out better with temp workers and workflow....

     Cheers, Tom
    I beg to differ.
You can use a regular keyboard with the camera connection kit, I have been using one for more than a year.
The proviso is that you do not get any of the functions of a cursor or the back / forward keys but these functions  can easily be carried out by using the touchscreen. I find it a lost easier to write long documents using a usb keyboard as I am used to touch typing so an external keyboard is a  lot faster than using the iPad screen.
