Newbie Question how to burn imovie to a dvd

Hello everybody i have a quick question. I can't figure out how to burn a imovie project to dvd. Looked through all the menus share menu in particular. Couldn't find anything to export to a dvd. Searched through the help and i couldnt find anything. Thanks

Hi
I would try:
• Share -> down to second line Media-publisher (?)
• I would select Large
Then close iMovie
Open iDVD and see if I can localize the movie under Media.

    having trouble doing this
what do I export it as?
can i have imovie '11 and imovie '09 on computer
    at the same time?
I have tried almost every export method to Toast, Burn, miDVD
    with no luck.
can I export and burn a DVD from imovie '11?
    Deb
    thx

Well, I don't think you can have iMovie 11 and iMovie 9 at the same time. iDVD should gonna help, but iDVD seems to be excluded from Lion. I guess you can only use other DVD burning program to make it. Maybe this tutorial can help you out: http://www.iorgsoft.com/dvd-maker/convert-imovie-to-dvd-on-mac.html. To burn iMovie to DVD, you need to first export iMovie project to videos. When an iMovie project is completed, select it and click "Share" at the top of the window in the Menu bar and choose "Export Movie...". And then you can use DVD burning software to help you. Good luck.

  • How to burn imovie project on dvd

Have just switched from PC to Mac - what's the Windows DVD Maker equivalent in Mac environment please ? I have an iMovie project that I'd like to burn onto a disc. Cheers, H.

If you are still within your 15 day return period.  Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

Apple tell me iDVD is not supported anymore
IDVD is very popular in the Apple community. The latest Macintoshes and Mac OSs are tested for compatibility with iDVD.

To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

  • I just finished creating a movie in IMovie and now want to burn it to a DVD and make it loop.  Since I just purchased this IMac it no longer comes with IDVD.  My question is how to burn and loop a dvd without IDVD.  Thanks for any help.

I just finished creating a movie using IMovie and want to burn it to a DVD and loop it.  Since I just purchased this mac it looks like they no longer include IDVD.  Is there something out there to help me do this.  I am new to MAC and any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

There is free open source software called Burn that will burn DVDs. Here is a link.
If you wish to pay for software, there are many, including TOAST TITANIUM from Roxio. Apple's retail copy of iLife 11, and Apple's Compressor.
Of these, I would say that iDVD is known for being able to create very professional looking DVDs with intros, menus, lots of interesting templates.
Toast is much simpler and the menus and templates are more plain.
Compressor is a professional tool that does a lot more than make DVDs. Don't expect much in the way of menus or templates.
Burn, I have never tried, since I have iDVD and Toast for those ocasions when I need to burn a DVD. However, since it is free, I think it is worth a try.
Each software package is a little different, but in general, in iMovie, you can use the SHARE menu to SHARE/MOVIE in Large size. Save the movie to your desktop or someplace you can easily find it. Then drag it into the tool of your choice. You can alsouse SHARE/MEDIA BROWSER/LARGE if you have iDVD or Toast.

  • Newbie Question:  How much computer do I need?

    Newbie Question:
I would like to use MainStage 3 in a live performance environment to play bars, parties, etc.  I'm not looping, using it to playback recordings, processing outboard equipment or vocal processing.  I want to stop carrying Rolands, Nords, Korgs, etc and get to a controller and a rack with a Mac Mini in it.
I tested a download of Mainstage 3 on my home Mac Mini (late 2012, 3.5 Ghz i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB drive) and it seemed to run fairly well.  $30 well invested so I trekked forward... I purchased a Mac Mini (late 2009,  2.52GHz Core 2 Duo, 6GB RAM, 128GB SSD) for $200.  I started to do more elaborate keyboard setups to see how the CPU would hold up.  It typically runs from 30% to 50% of capacity (CPU and Memory)  It actually boots and runs better than the i5.  I hear the occasion gitch, but it actually seems to be getting better in time (or I'm rock and roll deaf.
I got a rack, an Airport Express, a Radial USB interface and a Nektar Panorama P6.  It's starting to get expensive, but I'm emboldened by the actual quality for the sound and the flexibility of arranging for live performance.  What used to take me two and three keyboards to play, I can now fit on one performance patch.
OK, now the question... am I at the limits of this little Core 2 Duo?  Should I upgrade the i5 with more RAM and a bigger SSD and use that?  Should I get a new(er) i7 and bite the $1,500 bullet for the additional RAM and SSD?
I see that most of you are running pretty nice Macbook Pros with i7 and lots of everything.  My needs are modest; am I OK?
BTW, I want to run a Mac Mini in a box because I don't want to carry a laptop out in the open.  If I was doing bigger shows I wouldn't care but I play some rowdy bars and constantly have folks hanging off me while I'm playing.  It's fun, but hard on gear.  If you can't drop it or dip it in beer, it won't last long where I work.
    Matt Donnelly

Rule of thumb: newer and faster is better. But, depending the complexity of your needs you may be OK with an older Mac. Some glitches that happen in a live performance are due to loss of communication with USB or Firewire inputs, so make sure they're secure. I recently upgraded from a 2010 Mac Mini 2.6 dual core with 16 GB RAM, which was used live for nearly four years, to the latest Mac Mini 3.0 i7 with 16 GB RAM and a 500 GB SSD. I was getting an occasional stuck note with the older one. The new one is rock solid. Some of my patches may have up to a dozen channel strips mapped to three keyboards. The Mini is mounted in a rack next to a MOTU Ultralite Hybrid. It is a good idea to map a panic button on your keyboard to controller # 123(all notes off). Also, you might want to invest in a battery backup power supply(APC, Cyberpower, etc.-$40-$60) to protect your Mac against power loss, which can damage you hard drive.

  • Newbie question - how to I get movie trailers off internet

My wife and I are having an Oscar awards party. We thought it would be neat to send out DVD invitations with each of the nominated Best Picture movie trailers. I found several locations with the trailers but have no idea how to save them to my computer. I think I know how to get them onto the DVD when I get the video files on to my computer, but it's the first step I'm clueless about. In the old Windows world (just bought a Mac), I could "right click" on the video source and save to computer. Can I do something similar here in the mac world?

    SirScabs,
If you right/click or control/click on the movie link or file you will get a choice to download the linked file to the desktop. If it is in Quicktime format there are no problems, but if it is in WMV (Windows Movie) format you will have to convert the file. You will also find the quality will be very poor as the files on the internet are very small, so they are not really reproducable on DVD. As for the copyright issue. It probably is a breech, but as long as you don't send one to any Hollywood executives you should be OK.

  • How to burn a slideshow to DVD for anyone to play. I burned a DVD and can play it on my mac, but will not open in windows

Need to know how to burn a DVD that can be viewed by any DVD player.  I created a DVD from a slideshow created in iPhoto.  I can open it on my computer, but it will not open or even be recognized in my home DVD player.  I asked a friend to try it on a Windows computer and he could not open it.  What's the key to creating things for friends & family that do not have Mac anything?

  • Burning iMovie 08 to DVD

I imported a video from a DV video camera to imovie 08 and then saved it to the largest file size. I then used iDVD to burn it onto a DVD. The resulting video, shown on a 27 inch standard TV had rather poor video quality. I previously had used iMovie 06 to burn a video to a DVD and the quality was much better. Does anyone know what went wrong or how to fix this?

ancrman read my new topic Imovie 08 not the same. at least it burned for you, but of course quality is a major problem. I think they need to start over with this thing.

  • How to burn a slide show DVD in Elements 11?  Can only find how to burn a Video CD, which doesn't help.

I'm trying to burn a DVD slide show in Elements 11, but can find only how to burn a Video CD.  Is burning a DVD possible in 11?

Do you know if it is Vista Home Premium?
If yes or if you are not sure, look for Windows DVD Maker,
On my Vista Home Premium laptop whe I click on "All Pprograms", within the list of programs I see "Windows DVD Maker" listed as a program.
If you have this program then my suggestion is to use the PSE slide show editor to Output a file to your hard disk
    (use the
-- the "Save to a File"  instead of the "Burn to a Disc"
    and
-- the "Movie File - .wmv"
    and for slide size choose:
    DVD-NTSC if in USA
or DVD-PAL if in Europe or other PAL TV country
Save the wmv file in a hard drive folder where it will be convenient for you to reference for later use in the Windows DVD Maker program.
Once this wmv file has been successfully created, you can play it back with Windows Media Player to verify that you like its contents.
Your next step will be to use the Windows DVD Maker program to write the formats of movie files required for the TV DVD player playback to the DVD disc. I recommend closing Photoshop Elements and then open Windows DVD Maker from the Windows Start menu list.
Windows DVD Maker is a "follow the instructions on the screen" program.
However, one point of confusion is how to add the PSE created slide show to DVD Maker program.
The answer is that you use that .wmv file (from the PSE slide show editor) -- it is now in a video format and is a "video". So you can follow the onscreen directions to add video to DVD Maker.
Note 1: I recommended closing PSE before starting the Windows DVD Maker in order to conserve your PC system resources. It is probably not absolutely necessary.
Note 2: You could also produce the DVD for TV playback by adding Adobe Premiere Elements to your computer.  However just for the purpose of making the DVD from your slideshow I anticipate that using Windows DVD Maker will be simpler and faster.
Note 3: I recommend using a DVD-R disc. What brand of discs do you have?
