Newbie question: Links to web pages

I'm brand new to Captivate 4, so I apologize for this question. I have several hyperlinks on slides that jump to pages on my company's Intranet. When I publish and preview this project in our LMS (SumTotal), the links work however-- they do not open up a separate window for the Intranet page. When a user closes the page, it closes the activity in the LMS and they get an "Incomplete".
Please advise?

Odd, when I click the link I supplied I get this:

Look to the immediate right of where you type the URL or File Name. You should see a button with a down arrow on it. Click this button and you should be able to choose "New". You have probably already found this option.
What you likely missed (and it's super easy to miss) is another option that isn't available until you choose New. The opton is "Continue Playing Project". You need to click the button with the down arrow a second time, then click this option to turn it off.
You said the links weren't opening in a new window. The information I linked to was intended to be twofold:
Coax you into learning how you tweak links to open in new windows.
Coax you into learning how to deal with your Captivate project remaining paused when you open links in new windows.
I guess that's not the case here?

I can't get to links on web pages , shrink or enlarge the web page or show the other web pages that are open?The back arrow does work

Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.

How to create a link to web page (URL) to a billing document

Hi,
I have an urgent requirement of creating a link to web page (URL) to a billing document.
I call the function module "GOS_EXECUTE_SERVICE" with :
ip_service = 'URL_CREA'
is_object-objkey = no billing document
is_object-objtype = 'VBRK'
is_object-logsys = 'BO'
ip_rwmode = 'E'
Then, I enter the title and the address.
And, I have the message : "The attachment was successfully created".
But when there's nothing in the attachment list of the billing document.
(Tha table SOOD contains the record )
If any one has some idea about his , how to achieve this functionality, can you please help me.

Have to repetitively click links in web pages to open in Safari

I notice that in Safari I have to click links in web pages multiple time to get them to open. I watch the progress bar to see if it is loading and look to see if the circle is spinning and it is not. I can wait for a while and still nothing so it is not me being impatient. It does it just about all the time on Facebook and it really seems to go nutz when I click links that are pictures. I constanly empty/clear my cache/cookies and run Onyx to clean up the system and still no luck. The system is completely up to date and has snow leopard 10.6.5 I even put new mouse batteries in just to rule out a clicking problem with it. It's like Safari just does not respond and has to be told twice or more to get going. Does anyone have any ideas or tricks that might help.

Login to another user account on your Mac. Try Safari there.
If you experience the same problem, launch Disk Utility /Applications/Utilities
Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left then select the FirstAid tab. Click: Verify Disk
If Disk Utility reports errors, follow the instructions at this link. You will need your install disc. Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks
Also, check System Preferences (Applications folder) - Universal Access. See if you have any accessibility features enabled, in particular, Mouse keys under the Mouse tab.

Detail Navigation missing when i link a web page in the WPC Scenario

Hi to all.
I had publish WPC site with the External Connector method.
I have some Web Pages linked in the Navigation Structure, when i link one of this from a internal link (for example in a List link or other) I displayed the page and the detail navigation is visible and the focus on the destination page is light.
Well, when I try to link a Web Page that not is linked in the Navigation structure (open it in the same page) the Navigation structure is missing.
Why? How i can leave the NAvigation structure and display the page?

Hi,
this scenario is not supported by WPC. I think it was written somewhere (in a note or so). The problem is that if a page is not included in the navigation structure there is no navigation node associated. And so link to that page does not contain NavigationTarget therefore it does not trigger a real portal navigation but just displays the page in the iframe in which it has been fired. That means if you are using the standard framework page (i.e. with frames) page is shown in the inner most frame and the rest is untouched (side effect from which is that the TLN is not updated) and if you are using the light framework page after click the page is shown on the whole window as there are no iframes.
May be you would be able to work around this by selecting such page to be opened in pop up window. Other options exist but they are more complicated as solutions.

Browser Issue all links in web pages do not work

Having some issue with Browser: all links in web pages for various sites do not work. Browser was working fine for year or so just sopped the other day

Are your links including "www" at the beginning? Is your default browser correct? If you have a backup just use that backup when your browser worked, to put it in its previous state, but first backup what you have so that you can upload your history ie if you still need it

Any restrictions on linking to web pages?

My book has numerous images that, when TAPPED, link to web pages. I do this by simply creating a very large "O" and setting it as a hyperlink to a particular web page. Then, I set the opacity to 0%, thereby making the "button" invisible. When the reader taps on an image, the hyperlink works.
However, does anyone know if there are restrictions on linking to web pages from an iBook? I realize that linking to a competitor page such as Amazon, will not be allowed.
Also, are there any copyright issues involving the creators/owners of a web page? Is permission needed? Seems any web page would want to be linked to - kinda the purpose of a site being live.

Re: DEAD LINKS...just gave me an idea...I could create my own web site section, just to reproduce/have the web articles I want to refer to -- articles mainly with FACTUAL INFO So like if I say in my Diet Book "corn fructose sugar" is bad for you I can point to four or five studies that say the same thing....

Figured oout that I had restricted deletions of programs.
Settings->General->Restrictions-> (enter your passcode), Turn Deleting Apps ON
Afterward holding an icon until it jiggles will produce the X delete button.
You might want to turn Delete apps OFF after cleaning up.

Cannot open pdf from a link in web page

}When I click the link, a popup windows asks if I want to save the file or open it. If I save it, there is no problem, I can open the file and see the content but if I try to open the content, I get an error in Acrobat Reader ("error opening the document.File not found"). Does I need to have a "physical file" to be able to open it ?
Another question : What I have to do to open the pdf file in the browser and not in the acrobat reader ? I have IE 6.0 and acrobat reader 6.0. Doeas I need to put some pluggin in IE ?

LR2 web module: second link in web-page ???

My computer is iMac (Intel Duo) with LR2. (my login which is my email: [email protected])
My Question:
Is it possible to add the second link in a Web-page (Flash Template) to an an external Web page in addition to the included "Web or Mail Link"? I need an option to display an enlarged image of the one posted on my Web page. I have seen on many Web pages this functionality initiated by clicking the displayed Web Page image (photo) to enlarge it and another click on the enlarged image returns the image to its original size.
If the above is not possible then Is there any plug-in or software for adding extra link(s) to a LR created (Flash) Web page?

A bit more information. I just exported a gallery and looked at the gallery.xml file. There's an extract of the file below. You can see that: title="" i.e. LR is not populating that part of the code when I type a Site Title into the Site Info panel. Links to web page in any mail message will cause Mail app to hang, and won't open Safari.

Repeatable problem on iPhone or iPad.
Any link to a web page will cause Mail to lock up and become unresponsive, and won't open the web page in Safari.
The only way out of this is to back out to the home screen, double-click on the home button, then select the Mail app icon, holding it until I can "close" it. I can then relaunch Mail and look at any message I want just like normal. But if select any link, whether a text link or a picture in an email, the whole thing happens again.
Occurs on both my iPhone 5 and my iPad both running iOS 6.0.1.
Any suggestions that will allow me to go directly from a mail msg to a linked web page embedded within?

You ran a defective third-party "utility" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

My Firefox v. 8 no longer links to web pages in e.g. email messages. Only links if I open Firefox first. Would be v. grateful for advice

Flash/Flash Player will not open link to web page when clicked

Hi there, I am testing a FLASH animation ad that has links to a website. When I click on the links, it opens firefox but it doesn't go to the link! I have added the links and the file names in the Adobe Flash Settings Manager, restarted several times, restarted in Safe Mode and it still does not work! I cannot find any information on this. My coworker also tried it and it does not work for him on IE on Windows. HOWEVER, If I have SAFARI open it works fine, and If I drag and drop the .swf file into either browser and then click on the links it goes to the web page. If it helps I am on a MAC using Snow Leopard and I am using Flash CS3.

Go to global security settings.
Click browse for folder, go to your drive root (or the folder where your swf/fla is and select it. You should see that folder get added to the security exception list. Re-test tell me what happens.

you can also use regular expression. For example if you know a keyword (unique) in your link, the try with follows:

Dead Links on web page

Please use this forum to provide feedback about OTN content/services. All other posts will be DELETED.
The following links are not operational as of today. I tried each of them several times.
Please advise as I have a customer who needs to access these and test out the solution.

I don't have a complete solution but I have a short term "bandage".
If you are having trouble on a web page with mouse button "dead spots" (Mine effectively covers the whole width of the screen as if it was a Menu Bar below the others) use F11 to restore full functionality while ever you are in full screen mode then, restore to normal using F11 again. This works for me until Mozilla respond with a solution.
Like other users my Mictrosoft Explorer does not exhibit the same problem,.
