Newbie question: working with note durations across measure breaks

Hi, I'm a newbie with Garage Band. Last night I was entering some music as a software instrument, using the editor in both musical notation view and the other view (where the notes are solid rectangles). I'm having problems with note lengths. When I enter an eighth note, I want it to stay an eighth note . But when I copy-and-paste them, they don't start at the right place and the duration gets strange.
I also had a lot of problems ending a 4/4 measure with an eighth note (on the "and" of beat 4) that should be tied to the first note in the next measure. I couldn't do this easily. I finally switched to the non-music notation mode, and dragged the right side of the note across the measure boundary, but with that, I couldn't get an eighth note, it would only go for a full beat in the next measure.

So, when I expect to add a quarter note (actually it should be notated as two tied eighth notes), instead I'm getting a dotted quarter note (appearing as an eighth note tied to a quarter note).
As I said, musical notation is not directly tied to the duration of the notes. So before you add that last quarter note, the display is perfectly musical. Now when you add the last note, the display switches and displays the notes differently. I just tried it out, I can add that note in the notation view (you might want to put it on the 1 of the next beat and then drag it to the left a little).
Most experienced GB users don't bother to use the notation view for editing, but use the "piano roll" view which gives you a lot more control about how the notes sound. Then let GB do the job of displaying them - you don't have andy influence on that anyway.

Working with a batch of measurements

Recently switched to Diadem 9 and finding the new navigator layout with it's data portal. I'm often Working and analyzing many measurements with the same signal names in View. In the new portal I can load all the measurement. After looking on the first measurement I would like to check the next one just by clicking on it in the Internal data portal and that view updates with the new signals. Is this feature available.

Spending some days now with the portal I must say I can't cope with it. Maybe I miss the whole idea and how to work with it. In my work I deal with many measurements each with hundreds of signals from CAN buses, I'm first interesting in taking a first glance and then maybe dig deeper into the signals. Then the portal give me some extra work compared with 8.0. If I want to look on another measurement 9.1 has added the extra need of deleting the file from the portal, answering the question Yes I want to delete it before I can open the new file. Small things but anoying in the long run. Your suggestion to use multi sheet was grounded becase it was not possible to copy the layout from one sheet to another. Also difficult to keep track on what measurement is displayed in the view window. No connection between the bold current measurement in the portal and what is seen in the window. Anoying is also when loading new measurements the signal tree is always open. Haven't found a place where I can decide my self.
Checking out the report wizard you also get disapointed with the fact that all signals are checked for display in the report. if you want 6 signal out of 150 then it's not an option to mark 144 signals separatly with no. Where is the possibility to shift- mark all the not needed signals.
So Brad this is some comments and as I said in the begining maybe I got it wrong. Maybe you can explain the idea behind how to work with the portal.
I have also started to dig into the VBS script to get it the way I want it. But my time and skills are on short so it will take some time to solve it. But I think this is the strength of Diadem that you can do almost everything with the script.

LV Version/Runtime Question (working with LV 8.2.1 -- problems with a VI that was original build with LV 7.1)

currently i have a strange problem and i hope some of you can help me.
Ok first i explain my situation:
My task is to expand a old testsystem that was written with LV 7.1.
During the time they began to work with LV 8.2.1 and saved the testsystem-VI with the new LV version.
Ok now my problem:
I have added some SubVIs (build with LV 8.2.1) to the testsystem which open a connection to a DUT (device under test) via fbus, usb or bluetooth (the drivers are designed for .net). But i always get a strange error message when the subVIs try to open the connection ("...Please check your connection string..").
First i checked the handover of the variables in the testsystem but found no mistakes. I also tested all SubVIs seperatly with TestVIs and they worked perfectly!!!
My question:
The main VI was original build with LV 7.1. Could it be possible that LV uses an old or several runtime engines to execute my testsystem which causes such strange problems (For me its the only logical explanation why it works with my Test-VIs but not with the testsystem)?
But maybe you know more about such problems

it's really hard to say what might be the problem without knowing your project.
Have you already performed a mass compile in LV8.2? If not, I would suggest to do so. Please see following link for an explanation of how the mass compile option in LabVIIEW works.

I'm using the note taking view of Word 2011 for Mac so I can record a meeting as well as take notes. The audio of the internal microphone is so low - can I attach an external mic and have it work with note taking view?

Can I attach an external mic to my Macbook Air to enhance sound input for the note taking view of Word 2011 for Mac? I've tried preferences to up the volume of my sound, but I still cannot hear the recording. Any suggestions? I need to record a meeting as well as take notes so I'd like to use this tool, but the audio is not good enough.

A USB microphone can work with the Air, and I've used them before with my 11" Air. Griffin also made a product (the iMic) that will add a standard computer microphone port, connecting to your USB port. It's heyday was the time of the old iBook laptops (which also lacked a microphone in jack) but I think it's still around.
The single sound port on the 2011 models, as I recall, supports iPhone style headphone/microphone but I don't believe it will support a standard microphone input.
The built in microphone sits on the left side of the computer and I suspect wouldn't work well for picking up a lecture unless you were sitting just right in position vs. the speaker (preferably having the speaker positioned to the left and sitting really close). By design most laptop microphones presume they are going to be mainly used to record a sound coming from the person sitting at the keyboard, while for a lecture you normally would prefer it concentrate on sound coming from behind the screen.

Non Apple Apps not working with Not.Centre

I've restored my iphone 4 twice now, each time I've started a new phone and gone through the set up on the phone. I've tested my mail app, messages app and reminders app and they work faultless with Not.Centre but when I downloaded Twitter Inc. from the app store and got an @ reply, I didn't get a notification. I've gone through all the settings, in both the Settings App and even within Twitter itself and have TURNED ON all notifications but still nothing.
I'm not going to restore again, it's just a waste of time. Does anybody have a fix for this?

So after the iOS update all Apple apps work fine but no non-Apple apps work? I just updated my iPhone 6 Plus last night and haven't seen an issue so let's go further with troubleshooting as in
If an app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open - Apple Support
For example, check for App updates, try installing another app or deleting and reinstalling one that's not working.

Newbie questions - application deployment not working

I'm running SCCM 2012 r2 (no CU's yet but I'm just downloading #4). Everything appears normal for a new setup and there are no errors reporting in any of the status lists. Discovery, boundaries, AD schema has been extended and the System Manager AD container
(and permissions) set up.
All domain PCs and users are listed in Assets. I have created a device collection to roll out test applications based on membership of an AD security group which has picked up the correct membership for that group (a single computer).
I have created an msi to test application deployment (all it does is drop a test file into the windows folder) and tested that manually installing it with msiexec /i /q options on a test PC. I have created the application, deployment type and deployment
for the test msi and confirmed that the application has been deployed to the distribution point.
And then... nothing happens. I've checked the Monitoring\Deployments view and nothing is reported for the application (i.e. after selecting the application I have a grey pie chart with zero for all entries). I've checked the report "Client
push installation status details" and it reports an error (Last error = 5), 4 retries and status of "retry" but no details of what's going on (and I can't find any log files which might tell me).
Any assistance would be massively appreciated - despair is setting in!

Definitely check to make sure the client is installed successfully on your test device. No client, no app deployment :-). Look for the ccmsetup.log in c:\windows\ccmsetup\logs
Also, if you are using client push to install the client, make sure you ahve a client push account configured and that it has local administrator rights on the devices. Ensure the Windows Firewall allows WMI and File/Print Sharing also.

Hi,
Always ASMA overides the Basic Config.
Now in mapping create a Udf and set the value of THeaderSUBJECT as u want... the subject line will change accordingly..
Now to change the name of file dynamaically we have 2 ways as per my knowlwdge...
1. Go for Java mapping and in the mapping u set the file name dynamically.
Please go through /people/stefan.grube/blog/2007/04/17/xi-mail-adapter-an-approach-for-sending-emails-with-attachment-with-help-of-java-mapping
2. Using an adapter module. (Of course a small code required here, but if you are developing adapter module first time.. try to avoid it)
I guess Java mapping is best option...

JSF newbie question - ServletException - Method not found

I just started learning JSF (and JSP) by following the tutorial:

I'm getting a ServletException and I'm not sure why. Instead of starting the tutorial over, I'd like to learn what I'm doing wrong.
The exception is:

I quickly searched and someone suggested restarting the server. This did not fix my problem. I must be doing something completely wrong or I missed something in the tutorial. If you don't mind, please read the simple files below and see if you can spot anything wrong. Please keep in mind this is my first time using JSF (and JSP for that matter). The problem is that the CalcBean.add/.multiply method is requiring two parameters. This method should be parameter-less. When talking about action methods, they should return String and not take any parameters.
So, remove the parameters. You collect a firstNumber and a secondNumber from the user. These are the numbers you want to add (or multiply). Use those values (instead of the parameters) to calculate the result.
The code changes aren't too complicated. I'd write them out for you, but you seem interested in learning (which is great by the way!). Let me know if you need more help on this.

NewBie Question: Javac.exe Not recognized?

Hi I just want to try out my v first hello world program in MOTOROLA IDEN SDK For J2ME Tech (v 1.2)
I added a hello-world java file in the javafiles folder. Then when i try to build, an error occurred:

How-to question - working with layers

has anyone seen "the mirrors" trailer? is that possible to reproduce with FCE4? i have a clip that has a similar idea - girl sitting next to the mirror. instead of what the mirror is reflecting, i want to show scenes of her past. how would i do that in fce>>

You'll need to plan and shoot you shots very carefully. But assuming you've already done that and are ready for post:
Place one clip on V1 in the Timeline.
Place the opposing clip on V2.
Apply a garbage matte to the clip on V2 and align the matte's points to show only the image area you want.
Feather the edge of the matte as needed to blend the two images.

Inputing score - note duration problem

When inputing a score in Logic Express 7.2, I have a problem with note duration. Each note in logic plays 4 times quicker than I would like. For example a quater note on my paper note corresponds to a whole note in logic.
At the moment to enter a whole note (according to my paper score) means drawing a whole note, and then draging the bar 4x the length in the matrix editor.
I found somthing about gate times in the reference manual, but changing the gate time to 400% doesn't fix the problem.
Any ideas?

If you can't sign in, then you can't troubleshoot and/or pair the keyboard until after that........ so, for that, you will need to borrow someone's USB wired keyboard in order to get signed in and to the Keyboard Bluetooth Preferences.

7940 IP Phone not working across VPN with 861 but works with ASA5505.

Hello, I've been trying to get a basic set up working with the 861w where this is being set up at my home with a 7940 IP phone hooked into it to go across an EZVPN tunnel to connect to my office's uc560.
Now, I have an ASA5505 which works fine, but I'm not sure what differences or tweaks I need to make to get it to work on the 861.
I've attached my 861 configuration. When plugged in, the IP Phone tries to configure the VLAN and CM List. It just appears to get stuck and starts over. If I hook up my 5505 instead, it connects and works just fine.
Any help would be appreciated!

I think I spoke too soon. I can get calls to initiate and I can hear the other end and complete the calls, but I notice some pings drop when I'm trying to ping the phone system on the other end, and when I try to complete a call, it doesn't hang up when I hang the receiver up. I also see this in the 861w:

That always occurs after attempting to make a call, which a lot of times goes through, but then hangs and dies. The missing pings may be the issue, but why when I plug my ASA 5505 in, the calls and everything works perfectly? Do I need quality of service policies or changes to the inspect rules of the 861w?
I have to think it is the 861w configuration since the 5505 works like a charm from my end.

To change the iCloud ID on your devices you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted (if using iOS 7), then sign back in with your current ID.
If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, you will have to temporarily recreate it in order to delete the existing account. To do this, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
