  • JAVA Stack installation's method for BI 7.0 (Netweaver 04s)

    Hello!
We plan to upgrade our BW 3.5 (without java stack) to BI 7.0 which need a java stack installation.
In this case we have, first, to upgrade the abap stack and then we have to install the  java stack .
There are 3 possibilities to install the java stack : as java-addin in the same database that the abap stack , or as the recommanded
SAP 'method i.e. a java installation with its own  database , that means another instance , and I think a new license to buy.
The third method is a second server to support the java stack with its own database (separate instance).
I don't understand why the second and third methods are recommanded , rather than the first.
Is it related to the SAP  Enterprise Portal  ??; (we don't use it at the moment) , or for other reasons?? Thanks..

In the event of double-stack or shared installations, ABAP and JAVA compete for main memory and CPU resources. Since BI 7.0 is resource intensive, it is advisable to install AS-Java on a different machine.
Please refer to the following SAP Notes

  • Is SAP PO 7.4 dual stack installation??

    HI experts,
Could anyone let me know if SAP PO 7.4 is a dual stack installation or can we go for single stack as well.
As PI 7.4 is based on HANA , so while working on it shall we use ICO or old classic configuration. Shall we go for java based adapters(eg IDOC_AAE/HTTP_AAE)  or old abap based adapter..

To add few cents - May be your basis guys just read the title
Support for Dual-Stack discontinued in SAP NetWeaver 7.4 in general with exceptions
SAP NetWeaver 7.4 is positioned as the follow-up on-premise release for SAP NetWeaver 7.31.
SAP NetWeaver is among other things optimized for SAP HANA as the foundation for the SAP Business
Suite on SAP HANA project. This means that dual-stack deployments and implementations are not
supported any longer. The only exception to this rule is SAP NetWeaver Process Integration on a traditional
database system, which still requires a dual-stack implementation. However, note that a single-stack SAP
NetWeaver Process Integration Java exists that offers 95% of the features of classical dual-stack
implementations. Therefore, customers should investigate whether an existing SA

  • Removing J2EE stack from dual-stack installation

    Hello.
Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the JAVA-stack from a ERP6.0 dual-stack installation ?
We have a ERP 6.0 system running HCM services. The ERP system is installed as dual-stack, but the JAVA-stack is not in use as we also installed a separate NW 7.0 JAVA system hosting portal and java hcm services.
    Thank you.
    Gerhard.

    Hi,
Yes, you can drop Java part from existing dual stack system.
    1) Stop cenrtal service instance and all dialog instances of your system.
    2) Also, stop J2ee engine of CI from SMICM.
    3) Hash out all Java parameters in your default and instance profile (like j2ee, exe/j2ee, exe/jlaunch, jstartup etc.)
    4) Delete central service instance.
    5) Delete Database schema
    6) Delete directories (/usr/sap/<SAPSID>/DVEBMGS<xx>/SDM and /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/DVEBMGS<xx>/j2ee)
    Thanks

  • Restart the Java-Engine in a dual stack installation (java+abap)

    Hi,
how is it possible to restart or start only the j2ee-engine in a dual stack installation. We have a JAVA- and a ABAP-Stack and want only restart the JAVA-Stack. In windows i can use the MMC of SAP but how is it possible in UNIX.
    regards,

    Hi Eric,
i konw this TR, it doesn't work. There are two possibilities:
    restart j2ee-local
    restart j2ee-global
we try it with j2ee-local because we use a dual stack installation. What could be the problem. Is there an other possibility? How can i restart the j2ee-engine directly on my unix machine?

  • Change R/3 client after EP7 / NW2004s double stack installation (UME settin

    Hello everyone,
we have install NW2004s with choosing usage type EP as double stack installation (means ABAP and Java) and using SAP R/3 as user persistence. At the install point, only the client 001 is known / can be used. After the installation (EP test runs without errors) we do a client copy to create a ABAP client (100) for usage as CUA/ User store. Later we patch also the ABAP and Java to SP6. Now the UME settings of the EP ar still pointing  to the client 001. But we want to use the client 100. Question is, where should we change the client -> in the Portal, system administration -> system configuration -> UME configuration -> R/3 or in the visual administrator of the WAS ?? Is there some concerns to change this HUME settings ?? (means JAVA will hangs or.... ?? Have any body some experience with this or tips ??
    thanks
    mario

    Hi Luis,
yes this works with no Problems. Following steps you should take / recomended to do:
    1. take your ABAP client Copy from Client 001 to your new Client on which now resident your UME
    2. look if all EP related User (J2EE_admin, maybe ADS_user..) and also the User which you have created are copy to the new client
    3. Go in the Portal to System Administration, SystemConfiguration, then UME Settings, and Change in the SAP Config the Client 001 to your new Client. Before Save take a connection test
    4. Aslo you can do this Change with the visual Admin, but we do this in the EP System Admin iView
    5. Restart the Portal / WAS
Tipp: If the connection-test faild later (we had this also) it works nevertheless o.k. as long you had the right settings - maybe thats a bug in the UME settings of SPS6

  • SSO Configuration : Dual Stack Installation with same SID

    Dear SDN users
We upgraded our BW system to 2004s with  Java add-in installation. We used same SID for ABAP and Java stacks. I could not find a good document to configure SSO between ABAP and JAVA with same SID installation. I would appreciate if you can provide a link to the document or give me sequence of steps to be executed.
I am aware of note 917950 and 888687.
    Thanks in Advance
    V Reddy

    Chetan
We are done with upgrade. Currently we are using SSO with UIDPW. I would like to configure SSO using certificates..
If I remember correctly instguides suggest to run template installer. I did use template installer but it fails in some steps as we have same SID for ABAP and Java. I manually configured all the steps using instructions from " SAP Nw2004s BEx WEb System Landscapes" published by Tobias Kaugmann. Still no luck.

  • NW2004s: SPS installation for dual-Stack-Installation (Java/ABAP) - PI(XI)

    Hello,
we want to apply a new SP stack to a NW2004s (ECC 6.0) - dual stack (Java/ABAP) with PI(XI).
The ABAP stack is sucessfully patched yet,
but the Java stack needs still to be patched!
In the SPS guide for SPS 9 and some OSS notes you can read that during the patching of the Java stack, the whole system (ABAP and Java engine) are restarted several times. But the JSPM should ask you before the restart.
Do you have experiences how long the patching of the Java stack will take (downtime)?
How often needs the system to be restarted?
Is it possible to work with the ABAP engine (ABAP development, etc.) during the installation of the Java SPS with JSPM until the system needs to be restarted?
How is it possible to minimize the downtime of the system during the Java SPS installation?
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    Stephan

    Hi Stephan,
"Do you have experiences how long the patching of the Java stack will take (downtime)?"
I believe this is most highly dependent on the hardware.  Although some patches will deploy more objects than others, the deploy time is shorter on better/faster hardware.  I applied SP9 on my laptop PC (java only, no ABAP stack) and it took a few hours total -- including my processing and error correcting time.  My laptop has only 2 GB RAM so this process was greatly slowed by the amount of available memory (I was running other applications, like Outlook, etc.) resulting in a lot of disk swapping.
"How often needs the system to be restarted?"
Again, I have a java only installation, no ABAP, but I believe there was only 1-2 system restarts.  The system had to be restarted after the application of the java kernel part of the patch, then shutdown and restarted again for the offline deployment phase.  I cannot remember if there was a restart after the online deployment phase.
"Is it possible to work with the ABAP engine (ABAP development, etc.) during the installation of the Java SPS with JSPM until the system needs to be restarted?"
    Yes.
"How is it possible to minimize the downtime of the system during the Java SPS installation?"
I think the best way is to have the best hardware!  Also, be sure to be thoroughly prepared by reading the guide, all of the Notes, etc.  I was slowed by a previously correctable error (my administrator password had been previously changed and I had not changed it in the secure store -- Note 701654).
    Best Regards,
    Matt

  • Query regarding Java 640 installation

    Hi All,
My team has to Install the Java 6.40 SP 19 WAS and have no clue how to do that. In market place what should be the point of start, we dont have much Idea.
I request you to kindly answer few of my questions. They are as follows.
    1) We are using windows XP professional, in that case, from market place what should be components that we need to download for installing Java 6.40 SP 19.
    2) What should be the steps that the team should take to install the WAS.
    3) Once the WAS is installed we need to also install the Portal component for the same. In that case what should be the steps followed.
Please let me know if you need any additional information.

  • Bluetooth Stack installation fails

I bought a Bluetooth dongle with the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack. Software installation proceeds normally until the point where it says "Insert the Bluetooth device and click Enter." I do that and the installation stops. I have waited up to half an hour but it never gets past 56%.
I am running Windows 2000 SP4 on an Athlon 1GHz. Plenty of disk space and RAM. Tried the install several times, even tried shutting down the firewall. Nothing makes any difference.
    Any suggestions?

Yes, the Vid_0c10&Pid0000 is correct for your device. It is a "Silicon Wave Bluetooth Wireless Adapter".
That it is listed also in the "Exclude from select" in the [ControlFlags] section is also correct.
The message of XP that it is working correctly is a sign that the MS-stack has caught the drivers.
    - Open the device manager (Start->Run -> Devmgmt.msc)
    - Right-mouse-Click on the second device under "Bluetooth Radios".
The name should be "...Bluetooth ..."
(or an "Unknown device" or Bluetooth device under the Others section).
(- If SP2 is installed then please check also
"Properties -> Details -> Device Instance Id" of it. It should display
    "USB\VID_0c10 ..0000...".)
    - Select "Properties -> Driver -> Update Driver... -> No, not this time ->
Install from a list or specific location -> Don't search. I will choose
the driver to install. -> Select the not signed driver (driver for your device) ->
Continue Anyway -> No, not this time -> Install the software automatically -> No,
not this time -> Install the software automatically ...
    - Now you should find in the Device Manager under "Universal Serial Bus controllers"
a "...Bluetooth ..." device after the installation was finished.
