Newbie: stopping attachments and monitoring data use of account

Just got an iPhone 3GS and have managed to set it up all fine and sync with itunes. Had a Touch before so all ok on that score. I'm sycning with Mobile Me and with iTunes.
However, I have some questions that I can't find in the manual;
I have a phone account with 250mb data a month, which I guess isn't much, and I only really want to use the iPhone for mail when I'm out and about. However, I've been receiving emails where-ever I am. Where do I find the setting to switch on email via the phone network on and off?
I also assume its possible to set the mail account so that only the message, or a part of it comes through so I can limit my data use. How do I do this?
Is there any way I can monitor my phone, text and data use so I don't exceed my phone tariff?

I installed an email account using the POP option and couldn't stop attachments downloading.
when I made this account inactive and installed a new mail account using IMAP option it then gave the option to manually download anything over about 300KB. this is the link from my isp that helped me:

step 7 is where you select the IMAP option.
hopefully you are given that option by your ISP/email provider.

2) Import Data:
2.a) Create a flat file source system InfoPackage, comm structure, etc. necessary to import ASCII fixed length flat files from the XI
ctnhsappdata\iface\SCPI063\Out folder for each SNP InfoProvider.
2.b) All fields for each InfoProvider should be mapped and imported from the flat file.
2.c) A process chain should be created for each InfoProvider with a start event.
2.d) The file should be archived in the
ctnhsappdata\iface\SCPI063\Archive directory. Each file name should have the date appended in YYYYMMDD format. Each file should be deleted from the \Out directory after it is archived.

They can be edited with any text editor. Xcode provides a graphical editor for them - make sure to use the .plist extension so Xcode will recognize it.

One of the easiest ways is to use the INPORT and OUTPORT VIs. Find what port your parallel port is in and then send data to/receive data from that port. For more information on the port itself, try: http://www.lvr.com/parport.htm#Basics. If you are using NT (I heard some of the other new OS's have the same problem) then you need to download accessHW.zip from the NI site.

[Desktop] Remember the size, position and monitor last used when Spotify was closed

I always use Spotify on my smaller secondary monitor, but every time it loads it appears on my primary monitor and is the "default" size, so I need to move it to the other monitor and resize the window on a daily basis. Could Spotify remember the last know position and size it was set to, and automatically load using these settings next time it's opened? Thanks,James

Running a Sub-VI and monitoring data that is generated on a higher level VI

Hi All,
This question must been there before, but I cannot find a suitable answer here on the forums....
I have a 'top-level' VI that does a lot of things. I also have a sub VI that runs a frequency sweep on a piece of equipment. This is done with a for loop.
Problem:
I want to monitor/access the data that is generated in the for loop (See attached, the 3 wires within the green circle I want to monitor).
2 Questions:
How can I access the data on the wires (within the loop) from a higher level VI?
How can I then run this VI in a higher level VI while the higher level VI is continuing and not waiting for the sub-VI to complete?
I tried using a Que but I cannot seem to get that working.
Any suggestions?

The queue is a good way to move data from a running subVI to another VI. Your problem is that if the subVI is inside a loop in the main VI, that loop in the main VI cannot iterate until the subVI completes. The solution: have the sub VI running in parallel - not inside - the loop.
Look at the Producer/Consumer Design Patterns (at File >> New... >> VI >> From Template >> Frameworks >> Design Patterns >> Producer/Consumer. This may be more than you need at the moment but will show how the parallel code process works.

Image attachments and EXIF data

Hi,
It appears that when I use the iPhone to save attachments to Photos, it renames them and removes their EXIF data. So for now I have to use the MacBook and put them into iPhoto from there.
Is this a known bug with Apple or should I report it? Or am I doing something wrong?

How a message is forwarded is up to the mailer doing the forwarding.
Some mailers will attach the entire original message as an attachment,
which should preserver the images. Some mailers will include the text
of the original message in the forwarded message, which will lose the
images. Either way, it's not something you get to control.

Problem with tooltips and spry data using startLoadInterval

I am trying to use tooltips with a dynamic table using the spry data example at the bottom of the page:

I have it working except that it appears to have a memory leak as firefox's memory usage continues to grow.
I did notice there is a 'new' inside the onPostUpdate:function that is being called on every table update.
So after looking at the tooltip code I modified the function to:

Probably not very clean but it doesnt grow memory and works correctly.
I just put it back to the old way as in the example with a
startLoadInterval(1500) :
And I am over 500MB after ~ 30 minutes where as the top code above ran with
a startLoadInterval(1500); overnight and is about ~120MB.
I am using a double repeatchildren loop to build a table with tooltips for
each cell which may affect it.
Bottom line is I have a way to make it work so I am moving forward. If you
still want to see it I might be able to get it up on the internet and give
you a link.

How to cleanse the Arabic-General and Address data using Data Services 3.1

I m working in UAE project(Sap Customer & Vendor master) data migration. Main address and customer tables are builded in english and arabic equally.
I can able to read the arabic data, but there is no clue, how to cleanse or modify those datas?
Is it possbile to handle the arabic data in business objects-data services XI 3.1?
Is it possible to use the EMEA address directories to cleanse or standandize the arabic data?

Lync Phone Edition and wpad.dat - using proxy for firmware updates

Our Lync Phone Edition devices seem determined to use our proxy server for firmware updates, even though the server is directly accessible.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround?
The phones are learning of the wpad.dat file via DHCP 252. The wpad file has several rules that should be causing a bypass but none is taking effect. The proxy is dropping the traffic because it doesn't match a rule.

I do not have those options set in DHCP because we do not use these as PIN-authenticated phones. The phone is registering fine and is learning the correct URL:

Are you saying that the phone will bypass the proxy if it learns the server name via DHCP but it will use the proxy (and ignore the local names list in wpad.dat) if it learns the name via DNS-based discovery and SIP registration?

Since installing the latest update firefox stops responding and hangs during use.

The only way I can get it to work is to shut it down and restart the application. I can open IE and access the sites which don't respond so it is definately a firefox problem. All firefox tabs stop responding including downloads. This is occurring every 2nd or 3rd page I open. Help - it's driving me insane!

I assume thats when the ORA-21560: argument 3 is null, invalid, or out of range error occurs. I'm also wondering why and what the other error means saying LOBs are open during transaction commit time. The data is coming from an xml file that is in the following format.

Forecast weekly and daily data using BPS

Hi, we forecast cash on a weekly basis for 16 weeks and also do the current month daily forecast (daily forecast data gets rolled up to the current month weekly forecast numbers, so technically we do 12-13 weeks forecast on a weekly basis)...How can I set up such a scenario where both daily and monthly forecasting can be done...
Also, I have only one characteristic(line of business) other than time characteristics (Day, week, month, year).
We are on SEM-BPS 3.2

Hi Srinath, users can enter both Daily and Weekly forecasting. They do daily forecast for current month and also do 16 week forecast (which includes the current month). How can I integrate the current month daily with Weekly forecast. Any time they change the daily forecast, they want the weekly forecast for the current month to get updated based on the new data. I created a layout for daily with week as a selection variable. that way when they enter daily data, week infoObject info gets loaded. But how can I update the daily infoobject when they enter the weekly data.
I created two levels for Daily and Weekly before but it creates duplicates for weekly data...

How do I get the difference of time and/or date using JavaScript?

Hi All,
I have four user text entry values (Date and Time) which require a difference to be performed on them. The results would be put into a fifth text box named "Burn_Time". The entries are
Start_Date, Start_Time, Stop_Date, and Stop_Time.
How do I calculate the elapsed time between the entries? For ease of calculations I surmised putting the values in 24 hour format would be helpful (not sure if this is true or not).
Here is an example:
Start_Date = 2012-04-10
Start_Time = 10:00
Stop_Date = 2012-04-12
Stop_Time = 10:00
Burn_Time = 48 (hours).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
