Newbie to photo's on iPod

I've just gone from a mono 4G to the new 5G iPod, I've synched 3096 photo's to my new iPod, I use Photoshop Elements on the PC.
In elements I have loads of people and events tags.
When I go to the photo's on the iPod they are all there, there's no way to see certain events or people, is that right?
I thought you could browse by events etc, if not it takes over 2 minutes to scroll to the bottom to see the latest photo's
anyone got any ideas?
also, I've set it to sync my outlook contacts but it doesn't even try to so there's nothing on the iPod in contacts

As far as I know, the only way I could get Contacts to iPod was to export to vCard. And I'm sorry, but I think you do have to scroll through those photos. (I wouldn't know. I don't put photos on my 4G color.) Keep experimenting, 'cause I gotta go now (I'll be back in a few hours).

See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. I'm not sure which of the recovery tools can do photos offhand, but unless you chose the option to include full res. originals when you loaded the device then what they extract will be fairly low res. If you did opt for full res. then they should be visible on the iPod's drive when viewed in disk mode.

I am trying to download photos from my iPod to either an external hard drive or my computer, which has a Windows operating system. The iPod should function like an external hard drive, right? My photo files/computer/hard drive were damaged. Can I put my photos on the iCloud, and then save on external drive? Not sure how to o this either. I lost a few years of baby photos. iTunes syncing to iPods (that are not iPod touch) mostly goes one way, from computer to iPod. For photos, at the time you synced the photos to the iPod, there is a setting that you needed to have enabled in iTunes if you later want to recover them from the iPod. This setting is on the iPod's Photos tab in iTunes (where you set up photo syncing). There is a checkbox for Include full-resolution photos.
IF that checkbox was checked, you can Enable disk use on the iPod's Summary tab, and find the full-res photo files in the Photos folder on the iPod. Otherwise (if setting not checked), when iTunes syncs the photos to the iPod, iTunes converts the images to a very low-resolution version that is optimized to fit the small iPod screen and stores the image data in a single database file (to save storage space). There may be third-party software that can extract separate photos from that database file, but the resulting photos will look bad blown up to computer screen size.

My IPOD and ITUNES were on another computer which has crashed.
I have uploaded ITUNES on my new computer but having problems transfereing the songs and photo's from IPOD to new ITUNES libary,

You need to let iTunes handle the transfer in order for the pictures to be viewable on the iPod. iTunes creates specially sized preview images and organizes the pictures & previews as it does for music files. If you put the pictures on manually through Windows Explorer and the iPod hard disk "interface", then you can retrieve the pictures on another computer. But the pictures won't display on the iPod.

I dropped my cracked iPod touch 4th generation in water and now it's just done. Can you backup the iPod? If so then either:
- Restore another iPod touch, iPad or iPhone for that backup

Well, If you've deleted the photos off your computer, then when you connect your iPod, they'll probably be automatically deleted off of it.
Try this, though:
Open iTunes.
Go to "Edit -> Preferences -> iPod". Without the iPod connected, it should say "No iPod connected". Leave this Preferences windows up and running; I believe this may prevent iTunes from seeing your iPod as a connection.
Then, if you want to copy photos from your iPod to your computer, then see these programs:
iPodPhotoCopy
CopyPod Photo
Then, move those photos that you have transferred to your computer to a new folder, for example. Name the folder, then add the other photos that you previously were wanting on your iPod into this new folder.
In Edit -> Preferemces -> iPod -> Photos, select this new folder to sync to your iPod ("Browse" for location).

Photos synced from computer to ipod are one way only - computer to ipod. As they came from your computer in the first place, they should still be there.
