Newbie....very simple question

in the daw i used to use "cool edit pro" you could "lock in time" a file so you could move between tracks without changing the time of the track.....how do i do this in logic express? ...im confused..anchor points? can i lock the region and not the track?

Hey, I'm a palm user also. The only thing I could find was Outlook, I got one off of amazon.com Outlook 2007. I just installed it and synced, and all my contacts and calender and the notes for my clients are on there...it bites to have to buy yet another program, but it will save your calenders and contacts all in one program...I should add, the notes to the contacts are there. Notes that I have under Notes(homepage) are not. But I don't really need those to sync.

The registry method does not work with 8.1. I found this out the hard way. Doing it on 8.1 will leave you reinstalling the OS if you didn't do a SRP beforehand.

I have two dateTime variables, i need to calculate difference between this dates in days, thats it.
I tried all functions and tried without success a Java Embed task but I couldnt retrieve this objects as java.util.Date so I couldnt calculate exactly the difference in days like this pure java code:
(dataVencimento.getTime() - dataReferencia.getTime()) / 86400000L)

Just see if these alternate approaches works. I know there may be lot like this and you may be lucky to find out simple out of box solution itself. If you want to solve this issue and move ahead, gives these approaches a shot.
1. Create a very simple standalone WebService that takes 2 input date elements (can be of Date type or String type. If string type, convert to date in your java code). Create a simple operation like getDaysBetween(firstDate, secondDate). In the generated webservice impl class, use the java code apis (refer earlier link for usage), and get the difference. Return this value. NOW, invoke this WebService in your BPEL Process, and pass your 2 inputs (if the bpel payload elemetns are date object or string objects of date), and get output, and then use this output in your continuing bpel process.
2. This approach, I did a long back. When we insert any expression using XPath, in that editor window on bottom right side, we see many categories and for each category we see list of functions we can use, like for String, we can use concat etc. I vaguely remember reading somewhere, that we can add our own custom functions also in this section. So explore this direction and see if you can add your own function and then use that fucntion with your 2 input dates.
I have not given solution to your problem, but may be these directions can help you move ahead. Or something along these lines.

I have a very simple question.I am able to set up the client authentication as well as server authentication. Now do i need to authenticate (both server as well as client auth.) for every request i send to the server on https...i think it should be like that it should authenticate only for the first time and for the next upcoming requests in same session should not require any server or client authentication.. i think as it happens in browsers..
what is the fact actually??..can somebody put some light...right now in my case it is authenticating for every requests..

It's actually even easier than using Save As to see the full path to the currently open document. Just do a "Secondary click" on the document title in its window's title bar.
Like you, I relied upon Save As my whole life to check a file's location and considered it a must-have capability. Turns out it's even faster to use the single-click method to reveal the full path to the open document. It displays the entire path to the current document starting from the level of your Mac, and works for files stored on drives as well as iCloud.
If you're not sure how to do a secondary click, go into System Preferences, select Trackpad, Point & Click to find the current preference for secondary click on your Mac. If you happen to have a mouse with more than one button, it's probably the right button. As a trackpad user, I check the box to "Click or tap with two fingers," so a simple two finger tap on the title of an open document reveals its full path. This feature actually has been around for a very long time.
Note that this is not the same thing as the Autosave and Versions menu, which is exposed using a little drop down triangle to the right of the title. Very simple question from a rookie

Hi,
I don't know how sequences work in OWB.
I have a very simple mapping:
1 (not empty) source table, 1 (empty) target table, 1 sequence.
Source and destination are connected.
The sequence.nextval is connected to the primary key. sequence.currval is not connected.
When I run the debug mode an error occurs: "Could not find data for all sources and target ...". The "Test Data" shows that OWB has not found data for the sequence.
Help!

I use 10gR2 and OWB 10.2
The tables and the sequence are deployed. They are in the database.
There's something strange about this:
Starting ("Start...") works.
The debugging does not work.

Very simple question from a beginner

I am currently doing a little exercise, but I ran into a problem. I have written a class that supports operations on rational number. The fields are two long variables, one each that stores the numerator and denominator.
I have made add, subtract, multiply, and divide methods...
1. what I need help in is: beingh able to store the rational number in reduced for, with the denominator always positive
2. constructing a toString method, equals method, and compareTo method.
3. it also says "make sure the toString method correctly handles the case in which the denominator is zero by throwing an exception.
I have been working on this for a long time now, an I am stuck at this point.
I know this will be very simple for you guys and gals, but I am a beginner. Please offer some input, advice, and/or some code to help me get past this problem.

I am having a very simple issue. I have created a web app and it has a default list layout looks like:

I have placed web app module (using {module_webapps,14273,a} ) in one of my page. In front-end it has show every thing fine except it shows table tag for each item:

When I delete table and tbody tags from list view, it stop showing table related tags instead it start showing it without any tag.
How to correct this issue? Please help!!!

Here is what you can do:
-edit the webapp list layout via FTP or via the "alpha" File Manager. The WYSIWYG editor will attempt to "correct" your HTML code. Enter something like this:

When the page renders you will get the desired result:

A very simple question (I think)

My school has purchased some mac minis to use in our science lab, and now I want to get some very cheap monitors as we have a limited budget. I have some very basic questions that some experienced users could help me with:
1. Could I use a TV monitor and connect via the HDMI input?
2. What are the drawbacks when connecting a VGA monitor via the HDMI or mini connector?
3. Would spending a bit more and getting a DVI capable monitor connected by the supplied "dongle" be best?
4. What are the best brands of monitor?

Well...
1. If the TV has HDMI input, absolutely. Your main concern is the level of compatibility with a 'computer type' HDMI input, to avoid overscan/underscan issues.
2. You can not connect VGA to HDMI without a device converting the signal from digital to analog, and such would cost much more than its worth. The only way to connect VGA avoiding compatibility issues is via the Mini Displayport with the correct dongle from Apple.
3. I don't see any special advantage to getting a DVI capable computer monitor, over using an HDTV with HDMI or a computer monitor with HDMI. Basically you just need to find whatever display supports the input best as you need, at the best price.
I won't really answer 4 because there's a lot of opinion in that.

Pro Tools convert to Logic Newbie some simple question for logic users

Hey guys, I am a recent convert from Pro Tools! and There were just some simple questions I thought some of you may be able to help me out with. I am using Logic 9.1.1
1) After I set up a multi timbral software instrument (in this case MOTU Symphonic Library) how do I set up midi channels to trigger the individual sounds in the instrument. (in pro tools I used to create a midi track then send an output of that track to that particular soft synth)
2) How do I set up a and forgive my Pro Tools vocab but basically I want to set up a reverb channel on an aux track have it receive on a bus so I can send other tracks to that particular bus.

1) I have a nord stage and would like record via midi. In pro tools i would usually need to create a midi track with the output set the the nord and an audo aux track to hear it What would I do in order to record midi from my nord stage?
To record, just select a non-audio track, hit record and play the keyboard. The notes will get recorded into a region.
If you want to play it back to the Nord Stage as well, then it makes sense to set the Nord up as a MIDI device in your templates, so you can just add the Nord to a track and not worry about what MIDI ports it's on etc. Open the environment, create a New -> Instrument, called it "Nord Stage", set the MIDI port and MIDI channels it's on, and sav your template.
Now, when you start a song, to sequence the Nord, you just assign the Nord instrument to a track (by for instance, right clicking on a track and choosing your Nord instrument from the list of environment obects that appears).
2) The multi instrument trick is quick and easy its great but How would I do that manually?
Lots of ways, look into your key commands, ther are all kinds of "Create track with same instrument", "Create track with next MIDI channel" and so on. There are too many ways to do this to quickly talk about here. In short, all tracks have an environment object assigned to them, whether it's an audio object, or a MIDI instrument object, and this determines where the data on the track goes.
3) How do you set up midi so that it doen'ts overwrite notes when recording over them?

Very simple question for a newb

I'm working with the 3d camera but somehow when I'm moving in my 3d space, the camera place moves. I'm not sure what im doing wrong to move the camera. Anyway, how can I move my camera and keyframes together from the "Top" view?
I've done it before, just dont know how.

You actually answered your own question. Switch to Top view and sure you have record animation turned off . If you can's see the camera and the objects in the view, make sure nothing is selected and press F to fit all scene items into the viewport. If you have the proper overlays turned on, when you select the camera you will see it, and it's motion path. You can now use the adjust tool to click and drag the camera. The keyframes will follow.

(newbie alert) - simple question?

My Dell is four years old and dying. I am considering an iMac G5. One of the main things I would want to be able to do with it, right out of the box, is as follows. I asked someone at the Apple store if this was easy to do, and his response seemed very complicated. Would a new iMac G5 using just the pre-loaded iLife stuff be able to the following:
I have burned many old home family movies from VHS to DVD using a DVD recorder hooked up to the VCR. The DVD recorder is a cheap model, so it doesn't allow me to edit much at all; I more or less get just a straight transfer of whatever is on the VHS tape, over to the DVD.
I'd like to be able to pop in one of those DVDs I've generated from those VHS tapes, and then be able to really aggressively work with that "footage" to create montage clips into a new "movie", so maybe out of 60 minutes of raw footage of a family picnic from 1985, I want to be able generate a watchable 5-minute DVD clip that just shows the interesting stuff. I'd like to be able to lay music from iTunes over top of this, add titles and credits and whatnot, and then burn to DVD to share with family members, or upload to a web location (.Mac?) for family members to access and view.
It would be nice if I could also incorporate digital still photos from my digital camera, and/or short MPEG movies my "still" camera can take (each just 15 seconds long).
Is this all within the easy grasp of the iLife suite?

Last night, I took a close look at the inputs and outputs on my little JVC mini-DV video camera, which is about four years old. It's pretty clear it has no analog-in ports, so I don't think I can use it as the go-between unit from the VHS for a transfer of the VHS content onto the iMac. Reason being, the only "in" port on the mini-DV camera is a little "DV in /out" port, and I certainly don't believe the VCR has any type of corresponding "DV" output line. So, as for getting the old home movies from the VHS tapes into the iMac for editing and DVD buring, I believe -- based on the responses I've received in this forum -- it does boil down to using something like the Canopus ADVC-100 to allow me to make that transfer.
The related question for the overall project then becomes, am I confident I'll be able to get content into mu iMac from my other main source: a small library of home movies on mini-DV cassette tapes. The JVC mini-DV camcorder has an S-video out port (plus a "headphone" audio out jack that splits to RCA audio lines), so where can I run that to get it into the iMac? Would the Canopus ADVC-100 take that in? The only other "out" line on the camcorder is that "DV in/out" line I mentioned above. Nothing anywhere says anything about firewire... is that "DV" line a standard thing? Can the iMac take it in directly? Could it run through the Canopus unit?
